I have no idea what changed at Dragon Trail, besides the track limits but I can't for the life of me make a decent time with my Aston Gr.4.

Last time I raced around here I wasn't so off the pace. :/

If any of you can reach the 1:42s or low 1:43s with a Gr.4 car, hats off. I did some laps and my best was a 1:44:4xx. That's 1,5sec off the top10, which I can't remember happening.

I feel like I can not drive around DT anymore. :dunce:

OK, now I feel like a stupid moron.

Just noticed everyone is driving on Super Softs. :dunce:

I was going around on medium tires... So, now I know what PD changed in the game: we can qualify in better tires.

Oh well, might do some more laps later :)

same thing happened to me yesterday, i put together a decent lap and looked at my friends list and was like 2s down from where everyone else was... took me until this morning to realize what happened.

I have no idea tbh. I just came from a 6month break, so I don't know what's new.

My guess(hope) is they are just testing things out in the offseason, like the heavy damage...

Yeah it seems this could go either way:

1. PD activates the options of damage and tires because it's off season so the rules of the FIA championships does not apply

2.PD wants to bring new things for the next FIA season starting with heavy damage and different tires in qualify(possibly rain could be a part of the next FIA season)
 
Hectic first Nations race. Track limits were abused. Penalites are slightly harder to get rid off. Be warned, the finish line is closer than you think. :lol:

No pit seems to be a few seconds faster over the whole distance with plenty of opportunities to lose that on very worn tyres toward the end.

Lol yeah. I wondered why you were weaving all over the place.

You weren't the only one as 2nd place also took themselves out later in the race on old tyres.

Edit: Should also say nice pole though. That was close.

Started 8th in the Mustang. A fellow 'Stanger started 13th. Lap 1, got damage(second race in a row), from the accordion effect at one of the hairpins. Limped back to the pits. Changed tyres.

14 place and just ran without conserving fuel(10.8laps left). Pitted one lap later than most, end of lap 6(4.8laps left). Ran hard to the end, passing penalty cars that were conserving. Finished with 1.3laps left in the tank.

I've been overperforming recently, but hey no complains! 4th on what I assume is a second top split lobby? (~2200 points for first) I'm taking it! :D
Full story to come tomorrow, but right now I hope I don't lose this "power up" I got anytime soon :scared:

Good thing Cipher didn't bear witness to possibly the worst race I've ever raced on this game. Bottled both qualifying laps, glanced the wall of chumps on lap 3 forcing a two-stop strategy which obviously didn't pan out. Finished last.

At least I managed to repair my shaken confidence in the Nations race after, though not before bottling two more qualifying laps. But I eventually set a 1:21.5xx and had a good race. In other words, I didn't get killed on lap 1.

Can't remember the lap but he went squirrely out of T1 and I went past, the next lap he hit the wall properly and dropped way back.

@speedychicken how did you get damage into T1? Did somebody tap you from behind, or was it just a bit of late braking?

I asked Nik how the races went and he said that Lion-Face lagged braked into him at T3 on L2, so he received front spoiler damage and Lion-Face got away clean. He said he messed quali up too, was up 4 tenths in the last sector, went a scratch too wide on the 2nd last corner, and a penalty meant minimal improvement, though still good enough for 2nd row. :/

To stay at ~1 second behind 1st with front damage for around 9 laps, considering he had to put up with more tyre wear is a very good effort, though it's a shame he spun out as he did.

@sundaydriving you two might've been able to have a good scrap for 2nd if Nik didn't spin out. :) How many pts were up for grabs?

First race I have ever done switching to manual gears from automatic. Practising all week and was consistently getting 1.22.3 to 1.23 even spiked at 1.21.876.

Had a good qualification with 1.22.9 and started 3rd. Got better when first and second false started. That however is where my race ended. Admittedly I made mistake and ran wide on t2 and got aggressively pushed wide and dropped to 3rd but no real harm done. Approaching the final 2 corners on lap 1 I eased of a little to give 2nd space so I could get a run on him on home straight. However 4th decided it was a good overtaking spot and hit my rear (I had gone wide to give better exit speed out of final corner) and spun me out. Fortunately no damage but now in 16th. Worked my way back up to 8th and 7th messed up in the bendy bit. I got past him but he was that unstable Ì pushed him across sand as I entered corner a little to hot. My bad I got a penalty and -sr but I slowed to let him past and he just intentionally rammed me turning my car crimson. This was rather annoying as it ruined both are races. Also on penultimate lap I followed this guy through last two corners, realised he was to quick to overtake on start/finish straight, so I held back to get good exit speed out of t1 and slipstream him up to t2 to pass him. So ease of and accelerate through corner only to find he is going ridiculously slow resulting in 2 written off cars. Don't think he did it on purpose just misjudged his angle of entry and braked.

Heavy damage is not a good idea. It may ruin the guys car who caused the accident but it also ruins innocent drivers.
 
Almost 9 months after my last FIA race, I did another one today. :)

Manufacturers race with a Gr.4 Aston Martin around Dragon Trail.

I did my practice laps managed a 1:43:085. But only a couple of hours before the race did I actually practice race pace with tire wear and fuel depletion. The car behaviour was quite different and I've noticed, while racing with some fellow GTPs, that the Aston was pretty good on straigts but not so good under braking, meaning it would be tough to outbreak anyone or defend from an overtake under braking.

So I went to the race and... Qualifying lap down the drain. The pole was a 1:44:015 by @Oscaro_Indyfood and I was on a lap 0.4 sec off that time, which would put me in anywhere from 3rd to 7th. But on the very last corner, I went a pixel too wide and my rear wheel touched the grass. Game over -> 18th place on the grid.

Recovering time begun and, after losing my 18th place to @Marcolah (I was being cautious on the opening lap), and having some great fights with Marcolah and GT_BOCA_ GIAMP, I started to push a bit more and finished 10th. I did some overtakes for position and also passed some drivers who crashed on the bus stop wall (classic).

At the end of the day, it was a fun race which granted me 1444 points but I lost 100 DR points. ^^ Not that bad, considering I was 19th at the start of the 2nd lap.

My pace was similar to the winner (@ivann ) who overtook Oscaro_Indyfood through the last corner. Indyfood was on mediums and didn't pit. Ivaan was on SS and pitted once (as most of us did) bDt, starting in last is no fun. In the first lap alone I lost 7 seconds to the winner. :D

well that was bitter sweet, quali 5th for nations, get absolutely wrecked at T1 (again) finish 14th :banghead::banghead::banghead:

Manufacturers and I quali 5th again after slightly borking quali, no stop my way to 1st place in the beautiful GT86!

I won my first FIA Race! Couldn't believe it. Didn't think my qualy lap was anything special, turns out was good enough for 3rd. Was into 1st by turn 2 and kept it for the rest of the race! Bit of luck involved, but stoked with the result!

Speedy appear to just run too fast through the corner and ran wide into the wall. Unfortunate as he had done so well to get pole and had the pace to win.

And I assume by 'lag braking into him' he means that I put on the brakes at the regular time, and he hit the back of me. Only slightly, it was minor and I'm surprised he got damage. Also explains why he didn't catch me again as I wasn't running overly fast, just pacing myself.

As long as the game allows it I guess yes. Its not something I would use myself though. I stumbled onto a youtube stream, what makes it worse for me was that there were 3 of them in this race that were part of a party chat, and the conversation that was happening between them on the last lap was akin to working together to try to ensure the win.

Olenga did try his best to block ivann to mantain idnyfood safe for as lomg as possible in P1, even though he knew he had no chance of keeping the 2nd place. But it was all fair racing from what I've seen in the replay.

Fair racing yep. Just didn’t appreciate it myself.
 
7th in Austria. Should have been 6th but screwed up the last corner and took a penalty. Not bad considering I qualified 11th and had to pit at the end of lap 1 to repair damage.
 
Manufacturers was quite good. Got in a very good room in 20th, and since I am pugging it this season I thought I would be in severe problems. Qualified in 14th, although messed up my fast lap, but was reasonably happy. Then proceeded to have a great race long battle with a spaniard in a Porsche and a German in an Aston. Was great fun as I had the pace at the start of the stints and then they came back at me towards the end. Admittedly they both beat me but I am claiming 9th was a success for me in that group.



Not sure I get the point of the different tyres as they all seem to wear at roughly the same pace. I would suggest everybody use the RSS tyre. In my race there were a couple of guys driving the Viper, one in RS and one in RSS. The RS tyres wore down more quickly. Maybe due to driving style, but seems very strange.

The less said about the Nations the better. Had a solid qualifying of 7th, and managed to keep out of trouble for the 1st 5 laps. Then got a run down the inside into the 1st corner on the 5th place guy, hit the inside kerb and spun and hit the wall damaging my engine. Pootled around to the pits, losing a ton of time, came out in last place did one lap and did exactly the same again and thought it best to just quit :)
