Kie25 raced Nations with a lower rated account last night to illustrate this. He qualified 1st and drove away from everyone. 2291 points. BUT, the thing is, his main account is on 13106 pts, average of 2621 pts for each of his best 5 races. So although it might have been really easy for him to get 2291 points in the lower split, if he raced in that split every time it would be impossible to match his points from racing in top split.
Yea, but that lobby was probably a lower lobby then he could theoretically get himself into if he wanted to. Obviously he's good enough to be in the top split, so if he really wanted to he could tank DR until he finds the "sweet spot" lobby where he would get maximum points and have the best shot at a podium almost every race. Like the 3rd or 4th EMEA split would be around a 2600 points and Kie is probably good enough to be in the mix to win it most nights, not a guarantee like some people think they are saying, just much better odds. It would be time consuming and not very fun to keep your DR at a certain level, but certainly possible.
I like
@Tidgney idea for points, but without all the data PD has it's tough to say if it will really work or not.(tagged him because I always wanted to bring this up with him but a youtube chat isn't the place for an essay hahah)
Basically the way I see it is instead of the current DR only based point system, the matchmaking system would count all the DR in the lobby then rank the lobby from Lobby 1(top split) to Lobby 163 or whatever it would be and have set base points based on the lobby number. The top 10 in Lobby 1 would get the most points of any lobby in the evening, then P11 in lobby one gets the same points as P1 in Lobby2, P12 in Lobby1 is the same as P2 in lobby2, P11 in lobby2 is the same as P1 in lobby3 and so on and so forth all the way down the line.
I think for that to really work though we would have to go back to only one attempt at the race again. In my mind, if this system does ever get implemented, FIA DR should be separate from Daily Race DR too. That way if you finish bottom 10 or bottom 5 or something, you get relegated to the next lower split, and the top guys in that split get promoted etc. Thus, you can't just grind dailies to get your DR back up for next weeks race.
The more I think about though the more variables come into play. Like how we have 3 times slots, so how is the top lobby determined? Is it the top lobby of the night, so we won't know how many points we got until the next day? Or is it the top lobby of the time slot, so we will have 3 slots getting the same base points but all that is sorted because there is still a multiplier based on lobby DR strength like what we currently have to randomize the points a bit? I imagine that's probably the way to go. And I would think the base point would only apply up until to a certain lobby number, like maybe only the top 10 or top 20 lobbies get base points. Frankly us DR:B guys and lower don't matter, we aren't qualifying for anything as it is. It also gives people more incentive to be the top 10 in the region and stay there, I think it would make things extremely competitive and a lot more fun. It also gives incentive for us DR:B guys to improve to being DR:A so we can get those "next level points".
