Had to deal with 2 blokes who had 5 second penalties protecting their mate, by racing me when they weren’t even in the race. They even admitted to it in the end chat. Jeez at the level of selfishness and stoopidity.

Grabbed 1100 pts in Nations (4th) and Manufacturers (7th).

Focused solely on Nations this time round after struggling in test lobbies for Manufacturers. Gelled with the Mustang in practice and stuck with it upon entering the second slot.

Qualified 8th on my first attempt, and decided to go for a mixed-compound, no-stop strategy - mediums front, softs rear. The combo showed promise in practice, at one point allowing me to pull off a total race time comparable to that of an all-soft, no-stop run. Indeed, it would seem as if this strategy was a wise choice, as I managed to shoot up to 6th place on the first half of the opening lap...

Then, as we got to the right-hander before the penalty zone, my race began to fall apart.

After missing the apex, I got tapped out wide onto the blue astroturf, and spun half-way round after touching the gravel. The midfield took advantage of this, and before long I was dropping to the back of the pack like a stone. No matter what I could do, and despite the Mustang's speed advantage on the straights, recovery was difficult, not least since it felt like the front mediums made it less responsive through corners. Dropping a wheel onto the grass right before the final esses on Lap 5 did not help my progress, either.

Thankfully, a mix of consistent lap times and one-stoppers brought me further up the order again. Soon enough, I was pursuing a queue of cars challenging for 8th, 9th and 10th places, and was happy to settle for 11th after a red Megane swept past me and a struggling Lexus on the final lap. But alas, any hopes of a semi-decent finish were dashed. Exiting the penultimate corner, I was punted onto the grass by an approaching Jaguar, which sent me sliding wide on the way into the final esses. Frustrated and dejected, I trundled home in 14th place, taking a measly 581 points.

At first, I wasn't sure whether it would be worth attempting Nations again. After all, my mood and DR rating had taken a knock from the first run, and the last thing I wanted was to make myself feel worse if I failed to get a good finish. But, after taking some time out to clear my head, I bit the bullet and entered the third slot, again with the Mustang.

Qualified 10th, just over four-tenths off the polesitter, who happened to be the red Megane from earlier. Rather than risk the mixed-compound strategy again, I opted to run the race on soft tyres all round, even in the knowledge that they would go off dramatically in the final part of the race. Stormed my way up to 8th on the opening lap, and got involved in a long-running battle for 5th between myself and at least three other cars in front. While we eventually dissipated, I still managed to get some solid moves done, passing a Jaguar and a Lexus on my way up into 6th. This soon became fifth when a one-stopper pulled into pit road on Lap 7...

From that point, I turned my attention towards nursing the Mustang home, at the same time maintaining the gap I had built over the train of cars behind me. Even when my pace, as expected, dropped off dramatically in the closing stages, the squabbling from behind meant that I would hang on to 5th and earn a new personal best score of 1,472 points (one point shy of what was displayed on the results screen).

Not a straightforward evening's worth of racing, but at least I can sleep in the knowledge that the second attempt was worth the risk and excessive tyre wear...

Well, I am 2.5 seconds off the pace of the top 10 at St Croix. All I have to say is that this track is TERRIBLE in reverse.

Not looking forward to the race.
Qualified 6th.
Pit end of lap 3.
Didn't put enough fuel in.
Pit again.
Finish 14th.

Story of my life. One and done for me today, I have things to do.

Anyone got any tips for BMW for manu? This thing eats so much gas that I can’t seem to find the balance for the no stop.

I ran Fuel map 2 for most of the race, Shift very early and lift and coast into the braking zones

Well, somehow I managed to pull out a podium and finish 3rd at St. Croix. I knew the Mustang was a no-go for a no stop, so I just drove it as fast and as well as I could. It felt really great to get good result for a change.

Keith.

If it wasn't for the Audi TT and the RCZ's atrocious tire wear, St Croix could've been a great round for Pug. Nonetheless, I put the practice into it and I may have gotten some decent Manu points in the end.

I am beyond just frustrated with myself. Last two Nations Cup races, I've thrown it into the sandtrap and tonight was no different. Then the Manufacterers race was just awful as not only did I botch qualifying, but I just completely dropped the ball on Strategy. Frankly, I feel ready to give up whatever little shot I had for a live event when its me destroying my chances and not the game or other drivers.

Nations was easy no stop in Toyota, even with RS tyres. OP car is OP alright. I was taking it steady and benefitted from people falling off the road in front of me. Just like Manu race last time, there's something about Sardegna B that makes people lose their patience when overtaking it seems  Probably just a new track effect and people are still trying new things, but I'll take any points I can get :D

Manu is a complete joke in the Lancer, as expected. Too slow on the straights, understeer in long corners which kills the front tyres and only having 5 gears mean short shifting to save fuel loses you way too much speed. Stuck between a rock and hard place really. With nothing to lose I tried no stopping but didn't quite make it on both tyre/fuel and had to pit, so finished dead last with big fat zero points (my first time in any of these FIA races getting no points ). My "teammate" Mitsu driver did much better with full throttle 1 stop, finished 13/14th I believe, good on him.

Sardegna A with the Gr.3 Lancer will hopefully be a lot better, but at this point, I'm just doing Manu for the lulz

No time to train. My surprise jag was so bad on nation tonight. Only toyota and megane cup...

I have this narrative in my mind that because I was the first to make the leaderboards in CSA with the jaguar, other people tried the car and seeing it felt good in time trial they decided to go with it for the race. I would've done that...
Until I ran a practice run... oh boy, that car does not go well with worn tyres.
In that same lobby I saw someone using the Toyota and decided to give it a go. In the end and my secret plan of using a bad car for tt (yes it was the plan all along) paid off because in my race I was p1, p2 and p3 were jaguars. As soon as I saw that I knew I had it in the bag. I'm a master tactician. :p

Tried nations cup twice. First I had a good qualy lap that only put me in 5th. I made a mistake trying to overtake Nico and that was race over. Second slot I had a horrible qualy lap and got punted off on turn 1, then got pushed off again later in lap 1. Went for recovery, I really liked this combo.

Manu got my result on the first race. Only did one hotlap in qualy, which was risky. Got some traffic on my lap but still decent enough for second. On the race I tried to save fuel behind the lexus to attack in the end, almost worked.

Went into both races with not much practice so I wasn't expecting much in terms of results.

First up I did the first slot of manufacturers. My quali lap was poor, didn't get into the rhythm and qualified way down. With it being a fuel saving race, once again the Honda being OP on fuel helped out a lot and managed to get into mid pack by the end. I think I was only beaten by 1 1 stopper which shows how much on the back foot people with thirsty cars are.

Decided to go for the Ferrari in the Nations just for the fun of it and it actually didn't turn out too bad. I think I went with the wrong mindset in the first few laps, should've been more aggressive given how tyre wear would be at the end and I ended up losing positions in the first few laps. After that it was just about keeping it on the road, as others fell off. Took a risk at the end when I let the pole man (or a very high qualifier) go through to try and help me catch 2 guys in front, he caught one of them and they both had an incident which basically gave me an extra spot through pure luck. In the end, a reasonable result given the car I was in.

Well, I think this was too short. Needed two more laps. I felt that half the race was outlaps.
Anyway, it was fun to race but boring to drive laps on if that make sense.
I did a great 1.19.xxx practice but did not translate in qualifying at all.
However, the races were eventful and had a lot of passing, especially the last race of the night.

Did a load of practice for manufacturers yesterday and couldn't work out why I was so far off the pace. After messing with the brake balance I eventually realised that I was using the hard tyre :dunce: Turns out the medium tyre is much quicker

In qualifying did an outlap then wanted to get a banker lap in but spun myself out at T1. Drove round to the pits burning fuel to have another go. Didn't get flying lap 2 right either so it was all in my last lap. As I come up to the tricky right hander on to the bridge I notice that my low fuel warning light is flashing. Not for a moment had I considered I might run out of fuel in qualifying! Turns out I had enough but it was enough to distract me from a perfect lap so qualified 9th, which was still okay.

Had a lot of fun in the race. I knew how to get the Merc to the end with no stop but allowed myself to get suckered into burning too much fuel in the early laps trying to stay in the slipstream. After the 1 stoppers pitted, that promoted me from 10th to 4th, I had a considerable amount of fuel to save. The top 5 ended up finishing VERY close together and we all swapped positions, but ended up 4th over the line that I was very happy with. The practice paid off this time! Ran out of fuel before the line and almost out coasted someone who had run out of fuel earlier than me. It was a battle of the free wheelers over the line.

Having a lot of fun with this FIA season, but agree with others that the races are too short at the moment. 6 laps wasn't enough.

That dive bomb on lap 2 was, well, interesting. And what happened to Koz47? He/she had second.

Keith.

So what's the strategy shaping up like for round 7 on Sardegna A II? Times in practice setup with fuel and tires in Porsche are looking like they're leaning towards a 1 stop. No stop is 100% possible, but is looking to be 15 seconds slower so far...

I'm skipping the next one. Not a fan of that track, doubly so in reverse. Not worth the headache. I may miss it due to work anyway, and will also miss the 20th for the same reason. See everyone at Monza...

You mean what I did in the end of first lap. I know, that was not good. Had my mike set wrong so you did not hear my apologies in the commentary.
Dick move by me.
koz47 must have run out of gas or something. Was dropping down the field probably on fuel saving that went wrong.

I was referring to the driver in the Vette who also took out another driver at the end of the bridge.

Next manufacturer test 8 laps sardaigne

I have tested 2 configurations with the BMW M6 GR3
Consumption 1 , 1 stop , racing medium
Consumption 6 , 0 stop , racing medium

Both configuration are in the same average total race time , around 3 seconds more total time for the consumption 6 option , but perhaps this last option is more regular , avoiding battles and mistakes.... don't know , will depend of the flow and the quantity of cars running this settings.

BMW GR3 and some others cars with high gas consumption will be prejudiced in next Manufacturer race , one or no stop , some others cars very good on gas can do no stop at a very fast pace.

EDIT: The Audi is very strong for the event , able to do the 8 laps with consumption at 2 shortshifting , very fast pace

My pre-emptive condolences to everyone for Manufacturers tomorrow. Turn one is going to cause a lot of accidents.

Definitely , i will skip manufacturer today. The BMW is so bad on fuel that it's ridiculous how out of pace it is comparing to most of the rest. I even saw Nicolas Rubilar went to Ferrari ;)
No way BMW with this consumption , ridiculous. :grumpy:
What is the purpose to spend time making a more or less fair balance of performance , if because of consumption you have drive using a lot less power than other cars to make the same distance. This is really a stupid conception.
