Welp, only one Nations GR.4 for me and I'll probably just do the N100 at Laguna Seca. At least the S-FR and X-Bow can't run in those.

Whoever picks the Slophy for Manu, will win(Skip Monza).

Alright real talk. What's a good manufacturer to sign up for? I think my needs will be some decent straight line speed judging by the races and LIGHT ON TIRE (TYRE) WEAR!!!!! I usually see Porsches but I don't know if they would fit the bill.

As expected, we're only getting a partial schedule instead of the entire season. Not that big of a deal with Nations but it makes Manu selection a lot more complicated. As things are shaping up right now, the WT associated with Stage 1 may not even happen so picking a Manu great on the short term may not be the play.

Personally, I'm borderline on whether I'll be in good enough condition to play. Definitely will not do Nations. Manu, I have a few ideas:

Nissan - I get up to speed the fastest in both cars, good for my current condition. Unlikely to be Top 3 but can be in a reserve spot.

Subaru - Mainly for brand loyalty

Peugeot - Only in case I can get people to commit to my Pug Voltron Idea that was only partially executed last season. The basic idea is:

- Gather multiple drivers that are one step below aliens who otherwise can't qualify on their own
- Skip all Gr4 races
- Split Gr3 cars selections between the RCZ and VGT
- For each Gr3 combo, the ones with the better car can race to get max points
- Earn enough collective points to be Top 12

Grant you, the Pug Voltron still will only allow 3 in but I figure the arrangement is a co-opetition. We have to work together just to be in Top 12 and in most cases, the RCZ drivers are not competing against the VGT drivers in the same race. The combos more than anything else will dictate who goes.

I will compile the spreadsheet of alien driver selections this weekend.

I don't know if the combos are good, but at least there are pretty much different from what I have raced in the few months I am active...

P.S: My season is not yet over it seems so, we have returned today from Berlin after the number of Corona cases escalated really quickly in both Austria and Germany. Add to that the fact that Czech Republic announced closing of the border and that a lot of "quarantine" decisions started to show in Austrian press decided not to risk anything and we made an earlier return to Vienna. With a 250km detour to avoid Czech Republic...
And btw, Berlin looks creepy when almost empty in the "tourist" area :).
So see you on the racetrack this weekend.

Wow, Nations combos actually look decent and interesting for once. Lots of novel combos and tyre wear looks reasonable. Manu tyre wear also looks decent tho some race lengths are a bit short. Those with FF/4WD Gr.4s are not going to be totally useless after all 👍

Not being able to change for 40 races is a big commitment though. IMO, PD should release the race details for all 40 at once, or not at all for parity. I'm not WT level so I'm just gonna drive whatever I like, but I can imagine people picking based on the first 10 races and then getting completely screwed over by later races and/or future BOP changes.

Matter of fact, with the you-know-what virus going around, I wonder how many of the World Tours are even going ahead at this point. Obviously with esports it's not as big an audience as actual motorsports, but you still have a few hundred or so in a small space and the drivers themselves come from all over the world. I wonder how feasible it is for PD to set up a special lobby online for the WT so everyone can just compete from their own homes?

Haven't seen this anywhere yet, but I'm wondering if Competition track limits will be turned on for the official season. I guess we'll see as early as the next Nations race finishes its final slot

Ok, NOW I'm ready. ;)

I think this last Nations race will be a Slophy, 86, 4C club meeting. I really can't see an FF(used to set some top 10 times in Oceania) making it very far at 13x tire wear.

Edit: just said Softs are garbage. Only outlap and two qualy laps and they're half worn all around.

Edit2:
Supra, you did alright for the 2019/2020 Pre-season. Sorry you can't be used for Manufacturers.

I'm happy with this result. One and done. Supra stayed consistent. One stop RH both stints. Other players did two stops starting on RS.

The penalty roulette strikes again. Going side by side into the final corner, I was on the outside. An Audi TT was on the inside. I gave him 2 car widths on the inside. Because of the nature of physics, unavoidably he ran a bit wide and we had a bit of door rubbing. It was the lightest of touches, my car didn't even ran wide because of it. Honestly I don't even blame him, it's racing. A few seconds later, yup you guessed it, 2 seconds penalty for me for "colliding with another car". Oh my god PD, I just can't... :banghead:  🤬 :indiff: Trying to stay positive here but I have gotten more penalties this season than the entirety of last year combined, and probably 90% of those were situations similar to above. So so dumb.

Haven't had time this week to practice anything but thought I would hop into the first nations. After 10 mins of testing I though the GT86 might work for me, so went for it. Qualified in 11th, but was only 0.7 of pole so thought I would try hards.

Nearly worked ok, as managed to let one guy past early in the lap, but another driver wasn't quite as careful and I ended up getting a 4 second penalty for causing a collision.

Pitted at the end of the 1st lap and then did 2 stints on softs, which nearly worked. I was up to 10th on the penultimate lap, but made a mistake through the twisty bit and picked up a track violation and that dropped me to 11th when I might have gotten 8th. Ended up 10 seconds off the winner so that 4 second penalty made a big difference.

Oh well was a lot of fun racing, but this penalty system just doesn't make me want to race. Hope they fix it before the main season but I am not holding my breath (Am guessing the penalties in the karting might be a bit hilarious).

Is it Megane V6 week again? I might give it a go if so, because I rather enjoy driving the car and as I'm now at the ass-end of A I should get some much better points out of it (and a chance to improve my DR by lots).

So... Nations - did not want to run the Megane or GT86 so my choice was Ferrari.

Qualified 12th and started on Hards. End of lap 4 I pitted and switched on Softs and put some fuel to try a 2 stopper and got some clean air. Got out 17th and then put 4 good laps. End of 8th lap pitted again, got out on 15th and till the end of the race only managed to earn 2 other positions. 13th and 80 points - not enough.

2nd try(3rd slot) - switched to Citroen for fuel economy - as the time trial times were the same.

Started again 12th in a stronger lobby - again on Hards. Aim was to not lose too much time for 7 laps and then switch to Softs and push hard. Got up to 10th, but got tangled in some slides and traded paints with 2 Meganes and got 2s penalty which put me in P14. Not sure which hit which, I was already sliding, then one Megane touched me and had to accelerate to keep it straight - the other 2 cars lost it.

As others pitted I got up to 6th but then I pitted for Softs and fuel end of lap 7. Got out on 10th, 9s behind and started to push. The gap was melting(around 2.5-3s per lap), then one Spaniard in front lost it somewhere so I gained one position. Got as close as 3s by myself and then the front group all got some penalties - I think because of track limits. Lap11 I was right behind them and in the turn before the penalty zone the traded paint and slowed. Managed to pass them both in the penalty zone and then pushed to catch the 6th. With the help of a 0.5s penalty I was just 1.7s behind in the last half of a lap and I did not risk further because my Softs were dying. 7th is a better result than I expected and also replaced a 93 points with a much juicier 120. Hopefully this will also improve my position in Austria.

I don't think I will race tomorrow in Many, 458 Gr.3 in combo with my weakest track by far only smells like trouble.

I think I will just finish my time trialing testing and chose the manufacturer for official season . I narrowed it down to Alfa, Honda and Citroen...

Field was pretty much all GT86 and megane trophies. Tyre wear and fuel makes it hard for other cars to compete. I think the fuel in the megane is better so that seems to be the best race choice.
Depends on the player. In my race, the AMG won with short shifting and using 3rd gear at T1&2. Saved a ton of fuel while just about matching the chasing 86 on tyre wear with the softs.

At the first pit stops, the 86 long filled to make to the finish. The SLS just took tyres. On its last stop, the SLS grabbed a small bit of fuel while 86 pitted for tyres. They had a close finish. Again, will depend on the driver.

A couple Slophys were in my race, but they got swallowed up on the straights and fast corners.

Finally a day for my 86 to shine. And since I'm also with Toyota for Manufacturers, this was my choice without any doubt.

First race didn't run so great. Was in P8 but had a rather bad strategy (5S/1H/6S and almost no fuel saving) and got punted once. P15 only.

Race 2 was a lot better though. P6 in qualifying. This time I went for 5S/5S/2H with fuelsaving. Almost binned it out of turn 2 under acceleration (crashed someone out by that as he went for the gap, sorry!).
After my pitstop got up to P1 temporarily as others had pitted, after my pitstop I was in 5th but got up to P4 in a nice battle. 241 points and finished for the evening ;)

Nations Round 8
Very long, frustrating day but with a light at the end of the tunnel. 👍

I had originally thought about trying the Ferrari here and did some practice but ultimately went for a meta car, using the 86.

Attempt #1
Everything that could go wrong did in this one.

I screwed up the exit of the last bend on my outlap in qualifying, so I dived into the pits for fresh tyres. When I was finally on a flying lap, a Finn who had made a mistake or something and had been sitting at the side of the track near turn 3 decided he'd just rejoin onto the racing line even though there was a train of hotlaps inbound. :banghead:

That compromised my time, although I still somehow started P7.

My first major problem was a Belgian in an Audi. Why anyone would want to suffer through the tyre wear of the FF cars in this combo is beyond me!

When I finally managed to get alongside him and attempted to outbrake him into turn 4, he seemingly acted like I wasn't there and just turned in on me. That then dropped me down a bit and let my second major problem get in front of me - a German in the Renault. That comes later though...

I had been intending to go 5S/2H/5S, but dove into the pits at the end of lap 4 because I wanted some space from the Audi (and potentially undercut). Except that didn't last long because I was on top of him again less than a minute later at the hairpin. :indiff:. Thankfully by this point the tyre difference was enough to get past fair quickly.

On lap 6, the German spun out after turn 4 and started wildly weaving across the track right in front of me. The game didn't ghost him, I couldn't avoid it and boom, I have engine damage. All the way down to P17. :irked:

I managed to get back to P13 by the line and got promoted to P12 because a Swede in front was carrying a penalty.

Attempt #2
My first of two races with @das89ca today.

Qualifying wasn't great. I left a gap to the Swede in front at the end of my outlap, but a Spaniard behind me didn't give me that courtesy. He ended up going for an overtake and compromised my first flying lap. On the second, the Swede made a mistake and I had to back off. I started P16.

Starting so far back I decided to try 2H/5S/5S instead. All going well until the banked hairpin on lap 2, where I tried to switchback a Renault that went up my inside only to get taken out by a Spaniard and dropped several seconds off the back of the race. I eventually managed to finish P14.

Attempt #3
My second race with @das89ca. :D

This one didn't have any mishaps thankfully. Well, at least none involving me!

I got a clean qualifying lap after getting a tow from a Czech driver, but had to abandon the second as I was right up on his bumper at the line and didn't want to compromise him going for an overtake into turn 1. That led to me starting P8.

I went on to have a clean race doing my intended pit strategy with some good battles on the way, finishing P3 after some incidents and errors from drivers ahead. The only real thing of note was a slide I accidentally made going into turn 1 on the Hards with another Brit coming up close behind me. He avoided contact so I let him past at turn 2 to apologise. He binned it later on though so...

That earned me 147 points, increasing my end of season total by 21 to 413. Considering I had 446 points at the end of the last exhibition season with that counting from 5 rounds instead of 3, I'm very happy with the end result! Just need to see what that does when the final rankings are calculated.
