Question, if you qualify poorly, and your slot is before the start/finish, can you pit on lap 15 for hards, then cross the finish line in the pits? Laguna has a very long pit road.

i tried that in a custom race today but when i pitted in the last lap i could not change tyres or refuel and just autodrove through pit lane and crossed the finish.

Q4 P2 for Nations at RBR, the "almost one make" TS050 race. I enjoyed it a lot, the mix of strategies and therefore pace on track was a lot of fun.
My first attempt was one stop, but with the right gap I do believe that 2 stop was indeed faster (11 medium, 8 soft, 1 hard).

Also, what do you think of my defensive move below? Too aggressive (I drive the yellow Toyota)?
I could post a longer clip if needed but for context, this was at the beginning of the race. I was running RM, he was on RS so understandably eager to pass ASAP. I wanted to defend because I knew that this was how I could then undercut him when going to the softs.
More generally I don't like people squeezing on the inside and going super deep into the corner, basically braking too late, preventing any chance of a cut back or being side by side. I suppose that's a valid racing technique (we see it quite often in F1), I guess I just don't like it.

Also, that guy made me laugh. Racing debrief with his Team Boss probably didn't go too well.

way too aggresive. in real racing you would probably received a stop and go penalty. IMO: if someone is simply faster then just let it go and don't be that guy....

Didn't give the following driver time to react, and that must always be a priority.
I can see that. I moved late because I was hoping that he would stay on the racing line so we don’t lose time.

With that I disagree.
If we were on completely different spots on the grid, racing different races, ok to be more lenient especially since both would lose time anyway. But if it is for position, even running different strats, I’ll race.

was quite looking forward to this car/track combo as I like the Red Bull Ring on the F1 games and enjoyed the TS050 one make Gr.1 race at Circuit de la Sarthe last week so was up for another race with them.

didn't really go to plan. went for the 4th and 5th races, qualified 4th I think in my first race with a fairly scruffy lap but then got kicked from the lobby while waiting for quali to finish. slightly annoying to take a hit to my DR for that, and disappointed not to get to do the race, but more annoyingly had to wait another 70 mins for the next race...

did a couple of practice races in a lobby to try out different strategies, felt comfortable with the car and the track but not overly quick. got into the last race after a last minute game freeze but only qualified 6th - spent so long faffing around preparing for my second hotlap, trying to keep out of the way and find a gap that I forgot to actually go out of the last corner and ruined the lap before it began :D

race itself started about as well - started on mediums, I was closing on the guy in front into T1 so moved to the side and went to brake early in case he did too. he did brake very early, and turns out I didn't move far enough over as I sent him left into the right hander. oops, my bad entirely. T2 I decided to be very cautious and brake very early, managed to somehow still bump the car in front off. lifted off to let him go in front, again my bad. then I span on the exit of T3, which I hadn't done all evening. 18th out of 19 with only half a lap gone, brilliant. apologised to both in the lobby afterwards, if they're on here then apologies again.

from thereon I just tried to do as well as I could, caught a few people spinning, the mediums > hards > softs strategy worked nicely, got the fastest lap at the end, couple of overtakes, ended up crossing the line in 10th and was promoted to 8th as two people in front botched the strategy and got 20 second penalties. had door number 8 so ended up right where I was meant to finish, so not too bad. about 110 points in the bag too.

Final race of the season should be fun - never driven round Sardegna, no idea how it goes. think it has windmills maybe??

Put the car on pole, finished 16th.:banghead: :dunce: Grade-A dumb:censored:ery from your's truly once again!

I immediately threw the lead away by running wide out of Turn 1 on the first lap, which put me on the wrong side of the track, and by the end of Lap 1 I was 4th. I eventually got back to 3rd and held that for the 1st Stint, then somehow ended up fighting for what would've probably been 6th after my 2nd stop for Softs. After passing someone for 8th place on the front straight on Lap 19, I move over onto the racing line to set up for Turn 1...

...and I hadn't cleared them yet. I spun myself out on their front bumper and fell down to 10, then spun again a few corners later as apparently my rears were shot after that spin. The guy I squeezed probably thought I was a complete tool for squeezing him, but fortunately he got away unscathed and I was the only victim of my stupidity. I'd decided to just park it on the front straight off the racing line and DNF since the points were useless at this point, but then I remembered my car was #17 so I thought if I finish better than that I might be able to salvage my DR, so I drove across the line and finished 16th, barely.

I still lost almost 800 DR, so I'm probably gonna be put in a lower-points room and have to race that to get my DR back up then go a 3rd time to even get over the 200 points i'm aiming for. Fortunately I should be fast enough in the Gr. 1 machinery for my speed to overcome my stupidity as long as I remember how to properly judge distances...I might even skip qualifying next round just for fun. I'm never going to get my average start lower than my average finish at this point otherwise...

2nd time slot: Qualified 10th after screwing up my lap, so decided to start on Hards. Got punted into turn 1, got up over the outside curb, and spun on cold hard tires that were now also dirty from driving offline...fell back to 18th, pitted for Mediums on Lap 3, then Softs on Lap 13 and picked off other cars as they pitted. Finished 7th for 159 points. I need at least 177 for this race to actually matter, so here we go again for the 3rd slot...

Its only 15 laps, so you should be able to do 7 laps on soft and 7 on medium and only one on Hard. @Mistah_MCA is doing a great guide with strategy on Youtube. The key is a minimum amount of laps on the hard tires.

I have done lots of practice and the Subaru is getting lots of front tire wear. I have tried all sorts of bb but nothing makes much difference. I am not a good driver at the best of times but it seems that 1or 2 laps extra on a set of tyres can make me look like a drunk (an effect of my very rare brain condition). It is difficult when someone suggests a new tactic or strategy because I try it and must assess myself if I (as an individual) can make it work. It is a very individual thing for me.

Kinda on the same sort of thing, I think I need to explain my attitude more (although my constant attempts seem to just make things worse). Please watch the short video I posted, titled Shenanigans at Dtgardens. The race was a mess. That Corvette did stay ahead of me after that incident I described (for the record), and I could probably tell you who is at fault for all of the mistakes made by the 11th to 13th placed drivers. I wouldn't like to try any kind of remuneration with all of the Shenanigans that occurred in the race but I do think that the Corvette (Walrus or something) got the rough end of the stick, but that is racing and I wouldn't expect these kinds of things to happen amongst the leaders.
I attempt to practice with other drivers in race simulations so that I gain more experience in these situations but it seems that the only practice that I do get is in the actual race.

I am seeing some very accurate examples of what I am trying to say here. People who are saying that this is a serious FIA race, etc and then saying that, because of what I say, they would deliberately punt me off the track.
I see this kinda thing as hypocritical as telling someone that it is wrong to kill and if they do kill then they will be killed.

Whetever, I see it as a problem with the attitude of some people (everything else being equal) but I could also see an inexperienced racer being blamed for things that are not in their ability of control. Like a slow typeset who is trying to write an apology letter to someone after a race but everyone has left the lobby before they are halfway through.

So the image I posted after my race clearly shows 191 points, yet in the points table, I've been awarded 190! Not that it'll make any difference but strange how they've stolen a point off me for no apparent reason

Why are people using the soft tyre compound in the Gr.1 Nations Cup Race? You're only required to use Hard and Medium.

Because it's rapid! You'll easily make up the time you'd lose taking the extra pit stop

That’s what the quick messages are for, click the persons name, click the “I’m sorry” quick message and it’s done in like 3 seconds. If they leave before you get it off, there’s not much that can be done, but at least you tried. :)

That happened to me Sunday, Race ending screen showed 267, website shows 266.

Surprisingly qualified on pole in one of the top rooms, game promptly crashed in the chat waiting for the race to start...

Saw that. Ouch that sucks man. Judoka ended up winning that one from like P12 or 13. I botched my qualy lap and started P15 and finished P7. Lots of chaos in that one.

3rd Slot: Again drove like an idiot and got a penalty on my first flying lap. I slowed down again to preserve my tires and get another lap in, but accidentally blocked someone in the first of the double right-handers at the end of the lap, forcing him to go wide and pick up a track-limits penalty. He was (quite rightfully) very angry and brake-checked me twice the next lap, so I bailed on that attempt and started 16th of 18. I apologized in the chat before the race, and that was that. He raced me cleanly for the brief time we were near each other in the race. I again started on hards and finished 7th for 156 points - too few for them to actually count for the championship score.

I have no idea how I even managed pole in the first race I did, because in these last 2, I didn't even have pace to qualify in the Top 5.

Just had a race with TPC_Nosh.... forget what his screen name is. Great race. Did a 3-stop because I forget to change out from RS before race started... had a vodka break. Finished P11 gaining a few spots. Could have been P7 or or 8 if some dude didn't ram me for the 2nd race in a row. But good fun.

4th slot: I actually managed to not be an unaware dumb:censored: in qualifying and qualify 6th, which is the spot I needed to finish in in order to get enough points to count. I was actually running in 5th and probably had that spot secured...until I SPUN ON THE EXIT OF TURN 1 ON LAP 17 and dropped to 9th, which became 10th when I pitted the following lap for Hards. I should've just quit right there and saved myself the time and used it to eat something before that last round started. I should've known I wouldn't be able to avoid doing something idiotic and not gotten my hopes up...

Slot 5: Started 8th on Medium tires. A lot of people in front of me ran wide in Turns 1 and 3, and by the end of lap 1 I'm in 3rd. I need a minimum of 6th to give me a points score that won't get cancelled out by a previous round. I'd been driving like an idiot all night long...

Gran Turismo®SPORT_20200415000240.jpg

I FINISHED 3RD FOR 209 POINTS:gtpflag: only my 2nd time getting over 200 points with this current points system (the only other time was also this preseason when I won at Brands in the Gr. B cars). On top of that, the championship standings actually show that I have 211 points from this round, so I magically gained 2 points from the conclusion of the race to me exiting the room:confused: but I'm not complaining. The Clean Race Bonus is especially sweet considering how awful I drove the FIRST 4 TRIES.

After my crash while on pole, my next race I qualified near the front and held on for 5th, great points haul, my highest of the season. Debated if I needed to take the last race, thought I might be quicker with a 1-stop strategy than a 2-stop strategy, decided to go for the final race.

Qualifying went awry somehow, 12th place, then just kept getting pushed out and freight trained by a group of cars and just couldn't keep pace like I had been able to the race before. An eventual half spin left me down in 15th, lost all the points I was going to gain, so in the end it was a waste of a day.

Got a practice lobby for anyone interested.

Why do people not allow D grade DR drivers into their lobby.?
I mean I know that they just don't want to race against sloppy drivers, but wouldn't this help them improve which might benefit all drivers in the actual race?
I don't understand.

Thanks, learning new things all the time. See :)

There is a way to find them through your Friends tab on the Playstation. Look for players met down at the bottom. It breaks it down by daily, point, and lobby races
I’ve sent messages thru there to clear some 🤬 up after post race. Also had messages sent to me as well.

if you fight for positon too much with someone clearly faster then you only loose time, waste your tyres or worse; end up in the gravel, especially when defending a corner like you did. but thats just my way of racing, and I can understand that you would disagree and rather put up the fight.
