Went from 17th to 10th at Interlagos. Pretty horrible qualifying, ran 1H 10M 9S in that order. Went ~7 seconds slower than my practice race times, and although there was battling throughout the slipstream probably balances it out. That was an intense effort, and I really don't want to go again later, but I think I'm going to.

After running a mock race at Interlagos last night, I noticed I can only go 17L at full power. Do any of you think it's a good idea to dial the power down so time will not be wasted getting fuel during a stop, or should I keep it at max power and take the time to get fuel?
Keep it at max power and short shift, it's ok if you have to refuel a bit. ;)

Still 1:59 best at Spa with some practice now.

I’m running a steady 2:00 on my smooth laps, hope I can compete alittle in B - DR!

Feel like if I could put together, I’d definitely shave a second or two, chasing the dragon as always 8)

Won my race in the 15.00 Nations Cup slot (German time) using my trusty TS050. I qualified 2nd in a purely A/S lobby with a very safe second lap, given that I ran into traffic in my first try. Got bumped down to 3rd at La Source and promptly got that place back by hanging on around the outside of Malmedy and Bruxellex and consequently having the inside line into T9.

Took the lead on lap 4 into Blanchimont as the guy in front had made a mistake coming out of the very same T9, and built a good gap afterwards. Strategy-wise, I went for 7S 7M 2H. The two drivers behind me (the pole-sitter and the guy who bumped me into T1) went for three stops each, although I think one of those was unintentional, looking at the replay, as they took a second set of Mediums and promptly pitted again for Hards. Their battle got a bit dirty at the final corner, but by that point I was already safely home.

All in all, a good effort. In practice, I managed a 1:55.6 in the R18 and a 55.8 in the TS050, and lapped consistently in the 58s and low 59s in the race without having to massively push.

On car choice, it’s definitely true that the R18’s hybrid system runs out of juice after a couple of laps. Out of La Source in particularly I usually gained a couple of tenths on the driver behind in my race, which was pretty much always an Audi.

Really good race and mentally tiring concentrating for that length of time when bumper to bumper.

Qualified 7th started on Softs. Moved up to 5th by lap 3 and stayed in a small breakaway pack of about 6 of us until pit stops started. Pitted lap 9 for Hards and then lap 10 for Mediums. Moved into 4th passing a Mazda RX who had started on pole but appeared to get his strategy wrong and fell back through the field after all the stops. did have 2 massively unfair 1 second penalties which didn’t help. One track limit pen when I was pushed wide by the Z4 and then another for gently tapping the back of someone who had applied the brakes mid corner. Brought it home for a top 4 U.K. clean sweep :)

Had a reasonably fun Nations race with @VulcanSpirit I opted for the TS050 which gave me the best race pace, but not the best qualifying pace so started 15th.

Opted for 7M/1H/8S and got up to 11th, very close to P8. Actually gained a spot at the finish as unusually for an A+ lobby someone got a tyre penalty. Watching the replay I'm sure they just selected the wrong tyre on their last stop

Vulcan stormed through the field and had a great race.

May go again later in the R18 in the hope of qualifying further up the field. I had the race pace to finish 3rd in this one, but that's no good if you can't qualify!

Good luck all :)

I like the 2 laps on H's strategy at the end... the time compared to the M's isn't as bad at Spa as others, and this way you are up to speed and can put some pressure on anyone in front of you squirming about on cold Hards for the last throwaway (for them) lap. I've lost a race on the bad end of that one, so I may try the two laps plan this race.

Got cheated by the astroturf at Pouhon and by a Bulgarian rammer at the very last corner. Tesco Value iRacing never changes.

MANUFACTURERS

First race back with Ferrari in group 3 cars and it's at a track which its middle sector really tests stability. After an ok qualifying in which a slow car cost me a couple of tenths in the final sector I started 11th. In car 11 so that was fine for me. Starting mid pack I opted to go for the medium tyres first where nothing really happened. I then pitted for hards on lap 9 from about 8th with everyone's strategies playing out differently. I then pitted again on lap 10 for soft tyres. I manages a couple of good moves on them before settling into a rhythm again. Not having needed to refuel either was a blessing as that undoubtedly saved me lots of time in the long run. On the last corner of the race I was sitting in 7th when an M6 and an NSX made contact lifting me into 5th overall! Good race overall and the Ferrari in now infinitely more usable and retains its strengths in acceleration and fuel saving.

Edit: The GTPlanet livery served me well in its first outing, should have an update for it come Wednesday.

NATION'S

Decided to use the Toyota TS050 and was in car 19. Qualifying was a complete disaster due to being dive-bombed leaving me starting in 16th, Great. Started on the Hard tyres only to get taken out at the chicane before the start leaving me in plum last, pitting at the end of lap 1 for medium still in last. Made up a couple of position's over the next couple of laps and just got my head down to put in fast consistent laps. Pitting again on lap 8 I was in 17th. On the soft tyres though pace was excellent getting a couple of purple sector 1s. Ended up catching the pack of about 4 cars ahead when one got a 2 second penalty for minor contact giving me the position. Got past a Peugeot that same lap for 15th. The fast laps kept coming and through others pitting in the second half boosted me up to 12th at the end. A decent result given the contact at the start and a scruffy lap on hard tyres but could've been top 10 given a good qualifying result.

Question about the Nations race at Spa today: is the Porsche really so slow or bad on tires? I ran a sim race and wasn't unhappy with it, drove very easily compared to the R18, and based on a short comparison at least, very similar to the Toyota. I found it pretty good on tires, despite some remarks I've seen that say otherwise. But no one mentions it for the most part, so I wonder if I'm missing something?

I'm not shooting for a win, I know better than that at this stage, but a solid decent finish and useful points. So I want to be able to stay on the track and finish in top 7 or so. Planning to run it unless it's a fool's errand.

Does anyone find it weird that GT's social media never shown Asian region Top 16 Superstars race? They did that last year(s).

(Would have posted today's results since I did well-ish even if it still meant I had to take advantage of people forgetting to use all the mandated tires, but I've turned off my PS4 already for today.)

I can't. Wtf.

Got dive bombed T1 on my best quali lap, lost 0.4. P14 instead of p2.

Managed to make some amazing moves throughout the race, ended up fighting for p3. Lap 19, I pit for hards. No I don't, the game glitches and puts me on softs and I get a minute penalty. I had no option for even choosing any tyres.

Can't say I'm not pissed off after that. All motivation gone.

Did another practice race, spent some more time practicing on the mediums, did a few one-shot efforts on softs to try and simulate qualifying and got down to a 30.3 (had barely managed a .5 before)

and started 17th again. Finished 12. Both of my races were won by a GT-R.

Just got my first FIA podium in the 2nd Manufacturers slot of the day:D Bottled it in the first race all by myself, in the 2nd race it all came together. Qualifieth 4th, finished 3rd. Not much action on track but no complaints in that regard today.

Feeling sorry for the guy who finished 2nd though, he got DQ’ed somewhere between finish and resultscreen:nervous:

Like the post below your's said, I went to lap 16, I believe in that race, and it only cost like an additional 2 seconds to get enough fuel to make it to the finish. And you had good pace seeing those guys who finished 2-3 where much higher ranked.

Did the double for the first time in what seemed like ages. As you could probably tell from @ivann and @watto79's posts, it was a worthwhile effort.

14:00 Nations
Along with Watto and two others, went with the TS050 as I knew I could count on it to deliver consistent pace in race conditions. Didn't anticipate a repeat of my Exhibition Season victory last November - especially with the entry list featuring fourteen '16 R18s - but clocked a 1:56.494 which seemed consistent with what I had been achieving in test lobbies. Came close to improving it until I overshot the bus stop chicane, but realised soon enough that getting a good starting position was a long shot. Lined up 12th behind 11 R18s and a 908, so committed to a two-stop strategy starting on Mediums.

Didn't have the best opening lap, not helped by cold tyres and a British R18 driver giving me a light tap out of the bus stop chicane before the start. Lost out to him down Kemmel Straight, but regained 12th after following the struggling 908 around for half a lap. After almost trying to pass him at Pouhon, I blitzed him on the run down to La Source, and was thankful he had to serve a penalty on the next run through Kemmel. A yellow R18 bins it at Stavelot; a Spaniard bails into the pits on Lap 4. At quarter-distance, the Toyota is up to 9th and posting faster times than another British R18 on Softs up ahead. Fast enough to gain another place as a few more R18s come to pit.

Eight laps on Mediums bring me close to a literal battle between a Polish R18 and a Bentley tribute, at which point the time comes to put on Softs. Almost the entirety of the next stint is spent hounding the Polishman, but even with a penalty for him and a couple of sub-1:58 lap times, none of the passing attempts I make stick. On Lap 13, however, he picks up another track limits penalty at Blanchimont, which finally gives me the chance to pass down Kemmel Straight. Spent the last few laps catching and following the 908 from earlier as we both took on Hards, but in the end, it was a solid charge to what I was expecting to be 7th.

However...

Further up the road, one of the Red Bull-backed R18s on a three-stopper accidentally took on a third set of Softs on the penultimate lap. Realising his mistake, he then proceeded to enter the pitlane again, but this didn't stop him from receiving a 60-second penalty and plummeting down the table. So, we lie in 6th for 214 points!

Gran Turismo™SPORT_20200530145030.png

Had a few scrappy moments here and there - plus at least one track limits scare at Raidillon - but I think I made the right call starting on Mediums. So glad that the strategy worked out in the end and that I was able to gain that many places through pit cycles, penalties and genuine passes. Have to admit that I grew a bit disillusioned with Nations after the MX-5 round, but hopefully this should give me the incentive to keep trying more combos and aim for decent scores later in the season.

15:20 Manufacturers
Met ivann alongside my French teammate, the Belgian 'password guy' and a few other familiar faces from past lobbies. Had good feelings going into this and followed a blue and black Porsche around to set a 1:30.063 on my first tour. Good enough for 6th on the grid and just 3.6 tenths off the pole-sitting Merc (who I recognised as the ex-Porsche runner I slipstreamed at Fuji).

Like Nations, went with a two-stop strategy, only starting on Softs this time around to get myself an early advantage. This plan worked out well enough in the first stint, where I quickly caught up with and passed the 'password guy' down the inside of Turn 15 on Lap 2. It was then a case of pulling away from him while at the same time catching up to the leading train of cars - the Merc, an Audi, a Subaru and a Honda. Clearly the GT was working well on the Softs; the gap fell from 3.5-3.7 seconds on Lap 3 to 1.6 seconds on Lap 8, and on Lap 5 I match the provisional fastest lap set by the Hyundai (1:30.970). The Honda abruptly pulls off onto pit road (which, as I later found out, proved to be a sensible move), and the gap between myself and the Merc tightens before I come in for Mediums and a refuel on the next lap.
Coming through Mergulho and onto Junção, I see the Audi and Subaru go off together after contact, snatching 4th place on my outlap. This became 2nd on Lap 11 when a couple of Soft runners pitted, though as the second half went on it became clear that the 'password guy' was catching up... and catching up rapidly. To be honest, I didn't expect the Alfa to be that competitive, but then I remembered picking up my first Gr.3 Daily Race win in one of those... around the same track. To give the 'password guy' credit, he was doing an excellent job keeping the pressure up, but I myself kept focused on getting the Ford through as smoothly as possible. In a way, that approach worked, and the Alfa couldn't find a way past before we both pitted on the penultimate lap.

In the meantime, my teammate starting in 11th elected to get rid of the Hards first. He made an exceptional charge through the field and despite making some rather forceful moves found himself in 5th two laps from the end. This became 3rd as he followed the Honda past us onto Reta Oposta. A few seconds later, I notice ivann coming up fast as well, and position myself up in the centre of the straight for a clean, tight run through Descida do Lago. Ivann gave me a slight boost in his attempt to pass the 'password guy', and I went full throttle as the pair of them kept battling behind. Both GT LMs in the top 5, me in 4th and with a new season-high score of 246 points. Clearly the fastest lap I matched earlier accounted for something as I discovered 247 on my updated results table. The Fords truly flew on race day, it seemed.

Gran Turismo™SPORT_20200530160914.png

Afterwards, my French teammate told me that he was gutted that I had lost out on a podium position, but it didn't matter. Once again, the GT LM showed itself to be a consistent and versatile machine; if I end up finishing the season with a whole run of 4th-place scores, I'd be very satisfied. Plus, it was a nice addition to what I felt was a redemption of sorts for Nations. The job will be slightly harder going forwards now that my DR has reached 58K, but hopefully I can keep this momentum going through the next two stages. Time will tell...

Nations & Manufacturers Rd. 10

Nations - SPA

1st slot - picked the Peugeot because of the straight line speed on the two long straights. Mediocre quali - started just in P11. Lose 2 positions after T1 and then misjudged dirty air on mediums on Eau Rouge and got a penalty, and then crashed at the end of the Kemmel straight. For sure the strategy was completely gone - I only finished the race for practice. P16

2nd slot - Qualified a bit better - started in P9 and decided to go on Softs. I was hoping to get a few positions because of crashes in the first corners and then hopefully overtake on the straights. T1 passed without incidents then I was conservative on the straight, braking early not to make a mess. In the hairpin I moved up one place when the Finn in front went a bit wide. Then for 2 laps I had a nice battle with a German in front trying twice to overtake him at the end of Kemmel without success. He made a mistake by his own and I managed to get past and started to build a gap. Pitted in 7th, got out in 9th but gained the positions right back in the outlap when the two above guys made mistakes on their own. People in front started pitting and I was even in P5 for two laps. Then I ended my soft stint and switched to mediums for 2 laps and was in 7th. In the last lap I pitted for hards and got out in 8th. Was already fine with the idea of finishing 8th when the Finn ahead spun on the last straight. P7 and 126 points.
That's enough to make sure I hold on to 4th place in Romanian leaderboards.

Manufacturer - Alfa

Well, long story short: two weak quali - P13 and P18. Races were not better - 1st slot finished 18th and in 2nd one on P13.

Hi everyone.

Been following this thread for afew weeks now. Took a break from the game but recently returned just for the fias

Well today I had two wins. One from pole and one from last as I missed qualifying lol

My strat was

Nice run, hoping to have similar results today with Ford in the US and from your post sounds like Ford is running strong on Interlegos. What tire strategy if you don't mind me asking? I've been qualifying around 29.900 to 30.100 usually good enough for top 5.

I've been doing 9S-10M-1H those final laps on softs and Mediums little sketchy. Fuel is typical gas guzzler. We should race sometime!
