Nice run, hoping to have similar results today with Ford in the US and from your post sounds like Ford is running strong on Interlegos. What tire strategy if you don't mind me asking? I've been qualifying around 29.900 to 30.100 usually good enough for top 5.

I've been doing 9S-10M-1H those final laps on softs and Mediums little sketchy. Fuel is typical gas guzzler. We should race sometime!
Thank you. Tyre strategy for Interlagos was exactly the same as what you've been doing (9S-10M-1H), but you might want to reverse this if you find yourself starting further back. Be warned that the GT is far twitchier on Hards so it might require gentler handling on a full fuel load. If you want, you could do 10M-9S-1H similar to what I did in Nations, but again that might result in slower pace in the first stint compared to Soft starters.

Short-shifting is key to making the fuel last (especially when following traffic), while you might also want to consider making more gradual braking/steering/throttle inputs in tighter turns.

Thanks for the tips I wasn't even thinking about the fuel load on hards early in the race, hoping to avoid that strategy all together. I've had success in practice starting on softs where later on in the race the GT is just hard to get around if you cover the inside since it has the speed your opponent really has to get a exit run.

Saving fuel I've been doing lots of drafting even though I could probably get around the guy in front seems to help as well just staying behind.

Ford GT twitchy and unpredictable at times, ha. What's been your best track this season, Sardegna?

Red Bull Ring, Sardegna B and Interlagos - finished 4th in all three of them. Also started 2nd at Fuji in the Mustang before the latest update. :)

Sardegna felt like I was cheating the car performed so well there! Man, I just can't make it work with that Mustang even after the update with shredding a few lbs. It feels like a tank when it reaches any turn. Impressive! Good luck next season!

Surprised to qualify 2nd in Spa today!
Finished 2nd as well!

Rough first lap, thought I was ready for cold Hards, guess not lol, dropped back to 7th I believe.

Stayed on Hards because I had some space.

Changed to mediums for Lap 3.

Fought back and was in 3rd by the time I went to Softs going into lap 10.

Bad last lap but I had a 14second buffer lol, phew!

So Yay! I’m happy with second most definitely!

Lap3-9 on mediums / Laps 10-16 on softs was fine, coulda stretched either if I had too.

goodluck folks!

Just had one of my worst Gr. 1 races ever, which is to say, not totally awful, but nowhere near where I expected to be. It didn't start off that great when I found out that the win would only be worth 192 points, so I had to finish no worse than 2nd to even have the points count for this race anyway. During qualifying, I got a 0.5s penalty at Blanchimont by getting a little too wide on the entry to the corner, so I had to bail and do it all over again. I then tried to follow the 1st car on track to get some slipstream, but I'm pretty sure the dirty air hurt me way more than the slipstream helped me. In the end I qualified 14th, so I decided to do a 1H/1M/7S/7S strategy. I pick up a track limits penalty my 1st time through Eau Rouge/Radillon, and so do the 2 cars directly in front of me, due to cold hard tires. After my first 2 pit stops, it was a case of using the Softs to make time while I could running on my own, and hope to pass cars as quickly as possible. In the end, I managed to claw my way up to 7th, and had a best lap that was only 0.4s slower than the overall FL, so I'm not sure why I was so slow in qualifying (1.5s off pole), even factoring in the dirty air. 144 points means I might as well go again.

Also, hello @Razgriz2118! Good to finally see you in a race!

That was a fun race! I didn’t end up getting to do as much practice as I’d have liked today, so I kind of went into this one not quite knowing what to expect. Qualified 8th, just .001 ahead of @Winnie847 , who was just .001 ahead of the guy behind him! Started on mediums and went 5M/10S/1H, but I probably should have done another lap or two on the mediums because my softs were toast by lap 15. If it wasn’t for a guy ahead who spun out and tapped me as I went by, knocking me into the sand, I may have been able to get up to 3rd or 4th, he pulled over to wait and then apologized after the race so all is good, he didn’t mean to. Overall it was a nice race, with some good people. One and done tonight. :)

I'm just going to take a moment to say that I had to miss slot 1 of Nations and messed up slot 1 of Manu in more ways than I describe. I think I finished P15, I'm not sure how I managed that.

Please let the rest of the afternoon be better.

I've never really enjoyed Interlagos, and it doesn't suit the Corvette's strengths, so I wasn't expecting to get any usable points in this race, barring a miracle. Qualifying was poor again, and I started 18th, with all 20 cars separated by less than 1s!

At the start, I flopped all over the place after starting the race on Hards, and fell back to 20th before pitting for Mediums. Ultimately I finished 11th but was promoted to 10th after 9th got a tire penalty. 128 points is once again literally pointless against my other scores, but I'm not sure I could score much better even if I hadn't gotten 3s worth of penalties and had a better 1st lap. Might go again, might not.

Edit: Also got to race against @Razgriz2118 for a bit in this one. In Nations they were way too far ahead for me to even see them!

Had a real bad time today.

Nations:

I felt pretty comfortable with my pace. My time trial time was better than everyone on my friend's list (which most of are whom I end up racing in the +40,000DR splits) so I went in with high hopes. In qualifying, I just didn't get the perfect lap together. Ended up in something like 13th but we were all pretty close together. Everyone from 8th to around 15th were within a second. Starting the race, I was punted off at the chicane before the race actually started. Some guy in the back punted a guy whom ended up punting me unfortunately. Ended up in last place before I passed the start/finish line to start the race. I tried by best but since I was out of the draft for so long, I could only muster a 18th place finish. Left such a sour taste in my mouth that I wrote off the rest of the Nation's sessions.

Manu:

Racing for Nissan and the GT-R seemed quick here especially on the straights. I was able to pull off a double overtake into turn one during the race so if you get enough speed, you seem invincible. I qualified 6th due to, again not really putting together the perfect lap. For around 70% of the race, it was a good battle between me and some other guy for 6th/5th position. He ended up burning the hard tire before the end of the race so with him a couple positions back, I thought I was in a good position to finish in front of him. However, me being an idiot, I didn't manage or look at fuel until it was too late. On lap 16 I realized that I needed to pit ASAP or I'd run out of fuel. So instead of getting on the Hard tire on the last lap, I would have to do laps 17-20 on the Hards. This allowed 2 people including the guy I was fighting earlier on in the race to pass me. What's funny is that one of the guys that eventually managed to get past me ended up chewing me out in the post-race lobby. I looked at the replay and if anything I should be chewing him out. He was banging my car around and almost punted me twice. He had better pace due to his race strat but that doesn't mean I have to give up the position. I didn't move under braking and committed to my lines; I'm not sure what he thinks should happen. I'm not going to just give up a position; fight for it. I ended up finishing 9th in the race which isn't great but it isn't bad. I'll for sure not make that sort of fuel mistake again.

Overall a stressful day. I really dislike them having both the Nation's Cup and the Manu Cup on the same day for the weekend. It makes things way more stressed out than it needs to be imo. I have 4 good rounds already for the Manu Cup which is allowing me to hold 5th for Nissan in the North America region so from here on out I might be more picky with the Manu races. As for Nations, I need to really hit the practice sessions more. I have maybe 2 results that I "should" rely on.

Manu Race 1,,, LOL what a joke. Got punted at the first corner and I got the 4sec penalty....Seams fair. Med tires were horrible, no traction, no braking, wouldn't steer for 3 laps. On lap 18 2 cars in front spun and I got by them both...entering the last corner a driver from the great white north in a Vette, just plowed me, and NO penalty for them. Front and rear damage and a 2sec penalty.....what fun. Already to do it again.

FIA Stage 1 / Round 10 report:

Nations race at Spa: went with the Porsche, despite the apparent ambivalence toward it while everyone debated between the Toyota and R18... I was the only 919 in the field! Qualified fifth with door #18..., which was a good sign and definitely better than I planned. After a really clean start for the front of the field, including a clean overtake to get 4th place after La Source (great hybrid system + soft tires to start on), gave myself a penalty right away by overestimating the grip in the still-cold tires up Raidillon... 0.5s penalty for going wide on the left side curb. Oh well, great start anyway. But I repeated it again on lap 2... before serving the first penalty thankfully, so 'put it on my tab'... was able to keep 4th place with all the other penalties and offs behind me anyway. We were all racing for 2nd anyway, which I was able to get up to for a while, but there was one guy who dominated from the start and earned the win without much of a challenge. I cycled back to finish 4th after all the pits, having run 7S/8M/1H. Made one small mistake that cost me 2 sec in Pouhon, when combined with the two penalties probably cost me a podium, but I was really happy with 4th. Upped my best 3 points enough that I should move into the top 10 and top "B" driver in my state, which is fine by me as a 'rookie' season result so far.

The Porsche is a great race car! Can really protect your position in the middle section and with the great hybrid system laying down power on exit, jump away from La Source and out of Rivage.

Manufacturers Series race: another story. Was bump drafted by an AMG at finish line of first qualifying lap, which gave ME a 2 or 4 sec penalty plus SR hit... more importantly ruined my second qualifying lap, which I needed. Qualified near back without a fight, in door #12, meaning I had my work cut out for me on a track that I don't really do well at. Started on the sacrificial Hards, ran through lap 13 on Mediums, fought up to 9th place, had 10th in hand following the last pit stop, but: Was rear ended on the pit entrance... by the same guy who 'tried to help' on the qualifying lap! I got a FOUR SECOND penalty, and somehow came out of the pits behind both him and another AMG. When that was over, I was stuck in 15th or so behind a REALLY slow Toyota, who was blocking like hell after I served my penalty, and my mistake, when I tried to squeeze past him, he didn't give an inch, and the contact sent me springing into the grass like a cannon was fired from his Supra door. Race ruined. LAST place. So fricking discouraging. All the 1000 DR points I earned in the Gr1 race, lost immediately due to bogus penalties and poor sportsmanship racing by back markers.

Rear ended on the pit lane... nice! (I was careful, yes, but I had seen multiple people get penalties from cutting the pit lane and I wasn't about to ruin my own race with one)

Edit: I was bummed about the dumb penalty, I have raced the driver who hit me plenty of times, we are closely matched and ranked near each other in FIA standings and I’ve never had a problem with him, it was just the dumb penalty that is irritating.

The Gr1 race was really one of the most fun races of the season, though. Those cars are great: they reward speed but don't really bite you if you make a mistake, I thought that the combination with Spa and those cars made for the best 'competition' of the season. Shame the Interlagos race was the opposite in my case.

EDIT/UPDATE: re-ran the Interlagos race, this time with slightly better results: 11th in a race featuring some really tough but clean racing by two other 911's and a Toyota (again the slow guy holding up the train... LOL). Got an inadvertant 0.5s penalty near the end when drafting a guy that ended up pulling into the pits... so threw on the H's for the last two laps, given that I would be serving the penalty on the penultimate lap after pit-out anyway. Worked out for the better. While it was a more fun race, I still lost a few DR, the finishing order must have been almost inverted from the DR in the field. But it was fun anyway. Hats off to the clean dudes in that race.

@GTWolverine I didn't realize that was you in my lobbies because I'm used to your GTPlanet name, not your PSN name haha, good to finally race with you! I would've said hi a lot sooner in the lobbies if I realized who you were.

I've been uploading all of my recorded races, but since they're recorded with the Share feature it's all limited to 30 mins, so Round 10 of the Nations and Manufacturer's Races have the first 1.5 laps or so cut off. I'm debating if I should upload them still or not... If you want to see the previous videos, there's a link to the playlists in my signature

Nations:

I was apprehensive about Nations because Gr. 1 cars, but it actually worked out really well. For qualifying I got out early and ended up in completely clean air. The R18 behind me was going much quicker so I let it pass since they still had a full charge, and slowing down for them let the TS050 ahead drive off. I left early enough to get two flying laps, but I went wide into Pouhon on my second flying lap, meaning I couldn't improve and qualified 7th. So, I decided to start on Softs. Luckily, this meant that I would start right at the second part of the final chicane, meaning that although 1st-5th will get a lead, everyone behind will fall behind due to having to navigate both chicane corners. All but one car that qualified ahead of me was an R18.

At race start, I underestimated the effect of the slipstream and braked too late into T1. Luckily there was room on the outside that I darted into to avoid ramming the person in front. Because of said gap behind me that meant no one was able to capitalize on my mistake and I kept going. I eventually caught up to 6th, who had caught up to the back of the leader group, and coming out of the final chicane at the end of L1 there was a scuffle where two cars were slow and one was off track, which compromised their run into and out of T1. I definitely didn't regret choosing the TS050 because the car in front that was slow, an R18, absolutely stood no chance out-accelerating me due to the electric boost I got, so I went up to P6. The TS050 in front of me was formerly P2 and was quick, so I had no chance of passing, but instead I tried to keep up and use their slipstream. By Lap 4 they caught up to the R18 that started in front of me, and their battle slowed the R18 down to where I could pass. Coming out of T1, because of the R18's hybrid system, I got a good run on them and I was slightly ahead heading into Eau Rouge. Even though there wasn't much time to process it, I thought to myself, "Should I send it?" and I did. Credit to the person I was passing, we went through Eau Rouge and Radillon side-by-side and I got the pass done. I'll be sharing that clip later because I'm super proud of the overtake. Nothing much happened until Lap 6 where an R18 went wide on Pouhon, and decided to rejoin the track in the middle of the racing line... right where I was, so I swerved off onto the tarmac runoff to avoid them, which of course gave me a 0.5s track-limit penalty. However, after serving it, I still had a 4 second gap behind. I decided to go for the two-stopper because everyone up front was doing the same, and although I had built up a decent gap to the people behind me, if I pit I'd most likely fall into traffic. I accidentally miscounted the number of laps to stay on my Softs though and stayed out an extra lap, although it seemed to work out with how I finished. I pitted at the end of lap 8 to take on Hards, coming out in clean air, and then promptly ditched them on the next lap to finish the race on mediums, coming out side-by-side with the R18 that I dueled with into Eau Rouge. Luckily though, again thanks to the TS050's hybrid system, I pulled a car length between us when we hit Eau Rouge. We fought for the next couple of corners as he came back at me with slipstream, but by the next lap I began putting a gap between us. 4th place ahead must've made some mistakes as I closed back onto them, but they began pulling away again. I went into 4th on L15 when someone pitted, and they came out 0.5s behind me. However, I was able to pull a gap again and finished 4th, giving me my second-best points haul of the season.

Manufacturer's:

The Manufacturer's race didn't go as well. Although I'm familiar with Interlagos in Gr. 3 cars due to spamming a Daily Race B where that was the combo, I'm still not the quickest at the circuit. Nevertheless, I still felt good about the race because of the familiarity. In qualifying I was the first to leave the pits and decided to just go lap without any slipstream because pretty much everytime I try to get a tow it doesn't work out to my advantage. Except this time maybe I should've, because even though I got in 3 laps, I was only able to qualify 15th. At least I was the best qualifying 911 in the race, as the other 2 that were present qualified 16th and 17th, as a consolation.

Since I was so far back I decided to start on the Hards and ditch them after the first lap. On the start I took T1 cautiously, especially because cold Hards and a full fuel tank meant the car felt like a whale, which let everyone behind me catch up but also bundle themselves up, so heading into the pits for Mediums I was still 15th. Almost everyone within +/- 3 places of me was on the same strategy, which was refreshing to know. On T4 I tried passing an NSX ahead of me, but he defended the inside and I went wide off the track, giving me a 0.5s penalty and allowing the 911 behind me to pass. I went up a spot from someone pitting and then on the inside in T4 of someone who also served a penalty. I was defending hard and into T3 I parked it on the apex, which caused them to bump me, which stupidly gave them a 1s penalty. They pulled a good feint on me into T1, which meant I accidentally turned into them, and I got passed by another two people. From there I just kept my rhythm and passed the same NSX from before uneventfully as he spun out, and then @GTWolverine passed me. I pit at the end of Lap 11 for Softs and come out 17th, going back up to 14th as others pitted. I battled for 13th with another 911 and prevailed and began pulling a gap, although @GTWolverine then passed me again coming out of the pits, and then I got passed on the final lap by an M6, but then gaining a spot from someone who got a tire penalty, bringing home 13th place. So, not a good result, and honestly I'm not sure if the 911 and I have the pace for this race. I may go again in 30 minutes, but I still haven't decided.

My Manu race was going ok till I got a penalty for a cut at T2 and then the race just snowballed downhill from there. Pretty frustrating as a decent result was on the table in a closely packed field.

I only did 1 race each round so put my results into a table to see how the 1st stage went.

On the face of it it hasn't really been a good season with only 2 results worth shouting about, however I'm not massively disappointed as I have been against some relatively quick people by my normal standards. For the most part my quali laps weren't exactly bad (compared to say practice), I was just not on the pace so you could say I should be at a lower DR but on the other hand if I'm averaging 10th maybe I'm at the right level, I just need to have more good races as average and bad races won't cut it.

Also ICYMI the schedule for next season:
Bit early for these but seeing as though the schedules are up on the website, here's the tables:

Unfortunately I've already used my free PSN ID change, so I can't make it match this profile .

Just had my 2nd go in Nations, and qualified MUCH better this time in 6th, though still 1.3s off of pole and 0.3s off the car in front of me. In the end I finished 5th after chasing the person who finished 4th for literally the whole race. 164 points is only good enough to tie for my 4th-best score this season, so I've got nothing to lose by going again in the final slot. If nothing else, hopefully this race will get my DR back up enough to be in 200+ point races again.

Another great night of racing!

Manufacturer's race went well for me (started 4th, finished 16th - which is typical). 2 wipe outs (L15 T1 & L17 T7) which were both self inflicted trying to avoid odd breaking by driver in front of me. Still have not seen why I received an SR down check on my second pit stop. I can only guess it was because I came in hot and was a little squirrely at the wiggle. 3 points awarded.

Nations Race (first one raced, first time ever driving a GR.1) - what a rush! The R92CP is a little fast and breaks quicker than I am used to. Another SR down check in pit lane - totally screwed up the entry (there is a cone on pit roads entrance - or should I say there is not a cone there anymore). Started 15th which was ok (again for me) and finished 14th (12th after all the tire penalties were handed out). Fun race! 14 points awarded.

Lost all but 1 of my DR points - oh well. Maintained my 99 SR (which is my concern right now).

So why post this - because I experienced two outstanding contact free races (that is a first for me in a long time!) wanted everyone to know they do exist (just like the M&M commercials say at Christmas about Santa Claus).

Hate to be “that guy” but they’ve ruined fia in my opinion. My first time back in a few months and jeez what has happened to the driving standards :scared:.

I stopped racing sport mode (unless I really really like the combo) because it had become a ram fest and now it looks like fia has gone that way aswell.
I blame a combination of interlagos (always chaos here), 3 mandatory tyres, fairly high wear, fuel saving and no penalty system.
It actually felt like a fairly long race, the field would yo-yo from bunched up to spread out due to different strategies so I never really knew where I was (and I don’t like it and I find it annoying, I wanna race not play chess)
I received a few punts which I put down to different tyre compounds as they were always at t1 and t4 so didn’t worry too much, but I saw some horrendous driving, for A+/A srS lobby its was a shambles. Multiple people were punting, pushing to pass, blatantly leaning on others forcing themselves through. I spent the race wondering wtf was going on with everyone acting like it was win or die. I made a few mistakes because I was so on edge, I was driving in my radar and not looking ahead, it’s the first time I’ve never trusted anyone if a lobby before.

Mandatory 3 tyres is too many, I get pd are trying to bring the live event excitement to us. But let’s be honest, the live events always kick off so what hope have we got! You have no idea mid race who what where or when people are doing what, there’s almost too many possible strategy’s it becomes impossible to make a rational decision. Normally you may defend or attack based on knowledge of others strategies but today nobody knew, so everyone was defending and everyone was attacking, couple that with basically no penalties and that’s why it’s kicking off so bad. I basically just spent 30 minutes having to back out of the way of the crazies (only to watch them take themselves out), save my tyres and fuel and just trying not to get wiped out. I didn’t actually do any racing :banghead:

I was hoping for a fun race but guess pd and the general public had other ideas :lol:

My Nations race, didn’t go well. I qualified 14th as I’m not strong on this track. I was in the top 10 towards the end until I got hit and spun out. Took too long to recover and ended up 18th. Someone got tagged with a 60 sec penalty.

Manu race, my “really slow Toyota” qualified p11. The Supra as we all know is a gas guzzler. So a slower pace was needed because of it. Now. On lap 4 turn 1 I had 3 cars in front of me. We all go through the S but one car loses it on exit spun sideways and hit me off. Of course the silly game gives me a 2 second penalty. So I lost my slipstream so more fuel saving was needed. I finished 15th. I also got called out for being dirty and later of being...

So he claims that I’m really slow and I was blocking him. He decides to bring it out here so I made a vid of our battle and yall be the judge.

I am also posting the incident that he called me dirty.

Made it into the Top 16 Allstars race for the Manufacturers Series in North America today. Must have been a lot of people not racing today, I'm ranked 37th...

Qualified 15th, as I expected. Did not have a good run at all.

Start on Hards since I'm at the back, get a good clean start and...spin out at Turn 2. Damage the car, and of course a penalty for good measure. Last place by a mile.

:banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead:

Eventually caught the last car and took 15th place again, but I was a good 15 seconds behind the rest of the field.

Can't wait to watch myself be an idiot to a large internet audience. :indiff:

Went again on Manufacturer's, and it was a disaster lmao. I got matched into a higher DR room than before, so predictably I did worse. Qualified 17th, finished 19th after getting shunted and rejoining badly. Lost 2000 DR but my SR is still 99 which is what I care more about. The fuel saving two-stop strategy for me just doesn't seem competitive, but I'm pretty much done with this race so I doubt I'm going to try a three stopper on the last lobby.
