I have a feeling a lot of people are going to skip Nations, meaning some very low points. So either you have fun with a race that means nothing, or you ruin your DR with a lot of spins.

If that's the case I'll end up getting placed in lobbies with drivers with 20,000-30,000 DR higher than me again lol. Speaking of, I was in one of the Nations races with you on Saturday. I didn't make the connection until after the race and seeing your PSN and name here were the same, nor would you have seen me at all since I was at the back fighting for 15th place lol.

Do you know what I like? Races without incident! I much prefer them to squabbling in the midfield.

After having a go in the NSX in the morning I decided I wasn't getting enough out of it and stuck with the Porsche. For qualifying I first exited for 90 seconds to let everyone get around then began my out lap (sitting in the pits cools the tyres). I pushed all through qualifying, clocking a 2:35.7, then a 2:35.6 (which had me in 7th - don't want to be there!), but I hooked up the final lap better with a 2:35.4 which jumped me up to 3rd on the grid and more importantly, pointing in a straight line for the green light.

The race was pretty dull - almost exactly what I wanted (would quite have liked P1 to bin it somewhere! But he was very quick and consistent) - and I joined in being dull by flicking TCS to 1 to help the rears a little. The top three made a break over the first two laps but a little twitch for the NSX in second place going into Les Combes turned into a big moment and I slipped by into second, shortly after the NSX had another moment and left the race leaving the Brit in the RCZ in third. The pole sitting Porsche set a fastest lap of 2:35.4 on L3 - which is some going! But while I was very consistent and couldn't close the gap my pace was quicker than the RCZ running third and I continued to pull away, opening up an 8s gap before he was overtaken. With such a big advantage behind and a near 4s gap to the leader there was no point pushing too hard and I coasted home risk free to bring the 911 back in second place for 259 pts

I like quiet races!!

Very consistent times...

And a nice result for my Wolves-liveried Porsche :D

Nation’s Cup race tonight:

Qualified 9th (door #14), finished 7th. AWESOME RACE! No stop race with very little tire wear and fuel was not a problem at all (as predicted). I lost my clean race (my goal for this race) on lap 5 coming out of the first series of S turns (T2-T3) where I jerked a little too hard left to avoid going across the raceway edge on the right, hit that water patch that is sitting right there at the exit and off to the left I went. I played the race pretty straight forward and didn’t really push anything (because of nerves). I let 2 drivers pass by and ended up passing both when they wiped out. Smooth, easy control movements, and just a enough speed. I compare driving SPA in the rain to an encounter with a skunk – smooth, just enough speed to get going, and NO SUDEN MOVEMENTS – just like when you walk up on a skunk.

Points tally for the race: Gained 747 DR points total and 28 cup points for USA.

SR started the night and remained at 99.

Looking forward to tomorrow’s Manufacturer’s race at Alsace – Village. This should be fun!

Enjoy your racing!

Regret doing this race. Kinda knew I shouldn't, always unlucky in chaotic combos. But since I had relatively good pace and could handle the tyre wear for the no-stopper in the NSX, decided to give it a shot. Bad idea.

Struggled with traffic on all qualy attempts, ended up qualifying 14th, way off my pace. In the race, despite losing a lot of time in traffic, was making my way up well into the top 10 by keeping the car on track and managing the tyres. Until I was punted into La Source, by a guy who is almost A+ but braked in the wet later than you would in the dry. Of course, he didn't wait.

The crash spun me around, costing me over 10 seconds and completely destroying my rear tyres. Should have pitted but so late, I thought it didn't make sense. Unfortunately, ended up sliding my way down to 16th anyway.

Not trying this type of race ever again, too many people who don't know how to race unless you are in a top split. If anyone needs strategy advice for this race, the best one is skipping it.

Good to hear, I was too busy to make the 2100 slot, anyway, and I'll likely be too tired for the 2220 slot, as well.

After abysmal attempt at the 17:00 in the NSX in which I qualified 9th and finished 17th, I switched it up to the trusty Frankenstein 5150 R8 and entered the 21:00.

Qualified 5th, fell down as far as 8th, but just kept my head down and had an error-free run to the podium. Back to back 3rd places in Nation's Cup.

I was a bit hesitant about doing Nations today, but I need the points to get S/S for Stage 3, so I decided to give this race a go (Slot 3), hoping that I only have to do it once. My goal was to get 200 points (8th for this race), and I'd call it a day. I got in the Jester Racecar* Honda NSX, and started 4th place. Luckily, starting here means I get to start right at the end of the chicane, so podium is possible. I did slide around a few times, which put me in the middle of nowhere at one point, so I thought that podium was impossible.

Eventually, it came down to this:

Almost stole the win from my friend! I think he would have had it either way (without the bumping). But hey, I will more than happily take 2nd place! Definitely left this race with a smile on my face.

*The Jester Racecar is a car from Grand Theft Auto 5, and parodies the Honda NSX.

Just did 2 races. Qualified 2nd in both in the NSX.

In the first race I finished 2nd. I was one of 3 DR A drivers in the field, the rest B and possibly lower (I honestly forgot). Pole was the car with door #1, and they were 1.4s quicker than me. As expected, come race time the polesitter ran away from me, and I ran away from 3rd (having beaten their qualifying time by over 1s as well). Not much happened during the race until the final lap, and by that point the leader was 10s ahead of me, and I was over 30s ahead of 3rd. The leader then absolutely lost it at Paul Frere, and that allowed me to get right behind him going into the chicane. I then got a better exit, but there wasn't enough straight to make it work, and I finished only 0.1s behind the winner for 90 points.

In the next race, I again qualified 2nd in a field with 7 A drivers and the rest B drivers. This time, however, there was only 0.1s separating me from pole, and 0.4s separating me from 3rd. And of course during the race, for the first several laps we all stayed within 2s of each other. 3rd started to drop back, and I began to really hound the leader. At some point mid-race (I honestly forgot the lap), I got a great run out of Turn 18 towards the chicane, and outbraked the leader around the outside to take the lead. After that the leader eventually fell to 5th while I opened up an 8s gap to the new 2nd place car. Suddenly, on lap 8 or 9, after clipping the curb on the inside of the left-hander before climbing Eau Rouge/Radillion, I nearly spun it myself, but somehow gathered it back up and didn't get a penalty in spite of cutting the corner while trying to save my car. The car hadn't done that at all the previous race, but I guess my increased pace this race wore the rear tires more than I thought (even though I didn't spin or slide the tires anywhere near as much as my first race), and after that I had the longest 3 laps of my life, tip-toeing around the entire track while trying to not lose too much time to 2nd place, all while my car is oversteering at literally every corner entry. I ran wide at Pouhon on the last lap, but managed to keep from going too far past the astroturf, at which point 2nd place was now only 1.5s behind me, and I had dirty tires now on top of my previous issues with rear end grip. I guess 2nd place began suffering with their tires at he end too, because I opened up the gap back to over 2s at the line for a win worth 145 points (even though when I check the points table in the race, it said the win was worth 146...).

Gonna go a final time to squeeze a little more DR out of this race if I can.

Used @Ashthebash trick of coming out for 90 sec, then exiting and re-entering, to get away from traffic but keep the hot tires... thanks for that tip! I was able to get a PR in my first race attempt, good for 4th starting position. And in my second race I was able to get pole on my first hot lap, then I backed it up and improved on it, which ended up being critical when two others came very close... but was able to get my first FIA race pole position. I'm not normally very good at qualifying, so it was really a welcome result.

As for the race... first race was a disaster. Was #1... not what I was hoping for after my refreshed "A" DR. After I got moved aside in a unfair move, from 4th place, I made a mess of the race by spinning it on my own, as the red mist was clearing in La Source. Had no one to blame, it was my own fault at that point. Climbed back up to 10th place from nearly last, if I wasn't, but was unsatisfied with meaningless FIA series points, knowing I was fast enough for a better result. It was more or less a wash for DR, so I figured I couldn't really hurt to run it again, knowing I really blew it at a track that I enjoy and do well at.

So, re-entered in the third time slot, determined to do better. It was almost the same lobby! I guess most of us were unhappy with our first try! This time, I did get that pole position. I lost first at LaSource, however, on account of some wheel spin out of the chicane before the start finish line and then being careful not to spin, while the 2nd place guy was really aggressive. We then proceeded to run the rest of the race within 3 sec of each other, I would occasionally put a fast sector in to make sure the leader knew I wasn't going to go away, but we were both really consistent, the whole race, never putting a wheel wrong, while maintaining a slightly bigger lead on the pack than between us. We exchanged fast laps until the tire wear started to outweigh the fuel burn.

His tires must have been getting worse than mine the last two laps, though, because he was wiggling a lot more as we came up on lapped traffic. I made sure to keep my nose in view, in case he thought he could lay back and coast in, hoping he'd make a mistake. But neither of us did, and while I closed in on him during the last lap at Campus/Stavelot, and again at the last chicane, I could not get around, and didn't want to bin a good result or ruin his race in trying it. Was really happy with the podium- another sticker to cover my rookie stripe and my second-best points haul of the year. A new all-time high DR as well, to pad my A ranking, which I hope to keep this time.

Not as exciting as that replay from @MCL1974 but it was a really fun race from the perspective that we both were at our best all race, in a tough environment. (or @Mistah_MCA ...wow!)

All in all one of the best and most fun races I've had yet. Disappointed to miss out on a win, that was right there for the taking (or defending in Turn 1) but happy with that podium.

PS: I just can't get my driver's suit and custom helmet to show up in these FIA races... anyone know the issue?

PPS: MAN! That view in some spots, with the sunrise and the clearing rain... what a beautiful place- and rendered so amazingly by PD... lovely!

@KosmoKazi Great result, dude! What I don't get is the guy who you finished 2nd to was as dirty as they come last week in Manufacturer Gr. 4 race at Spa. I got caught up in his mayhem and the whole lobby was calling for his head post-race. Go figure.
Truth be told, I feel like he might have punted me on the start if I hadn’t left the inside open… I saw him barging up after I got off the line badly with wheel spin, but I didn’t want to chance it. I figured chances of him making a mistake at least once in the long 11 laps would be my chance. So I played the long game and let him thru, and then made sure to keep close enough to him that he’d press a bit. After that, we weren’t in contact enough to have allowed foul play, unless I would have escalated things at the end there. But I didn’t want to throw things away two races in a row.

BTW, just occurred to me what your livery is on that Audi… nice! VH

I did test the Audi, briefly just before my first race. I think it actually has more pace, as I was nearly equal to my trusty RSR on the first and second lap, even though I never drive the car, but I wanted to stay in my comfort zone when the race counted. But I am pretty sure it was capable of better speed than the Porsche, even though my race was a 1-2-3 Porsche show.

edit: checked it out and yeah that guy’s a frequent “resetter” so it’s his MO to be aggressive, so probably right move to have let him thru and try to get the spot back, just didn’t work out for that win.

Well, I just ran the final slot, again in the NSX. This time I managed to put the car on pole by 0.14s over another NSX. 2nd place spun coming out of Turn 9 on the opening lap, and that left an AMG behind me. Me and the AMG ran away from the rest of the field, with the AMG gaining bus-lengths on me on the straights, while I slowly opened the gap back up through most of the rest of the lap. After a few laps, the AMG's tires fell off, and at the end of Lap 6, they pitted, but had enough of a gap to the rest of the field that they didn't lose any spots (and 3rd also pitted). Even with fresh tires, they didn't start gaining on me until 2 laps left, not that it mattered, because I had a 14s lead. In the end I won by nearly 16s because they finished with a 2s penalty. This time the game gave me all of the points it promised, and I bagged 156 points, but more important than points that'll never count towards my score, I got my DR up to over 35k.

Felt like one of those races with 18x tyre wear, I absolutely cooked my tyres.

Time for me to get a wheel...
Would be nice to have an option to be put into lobbies with only DS4 users. It’s just crazy how wheels get you an extra 2 seconds.

Wheels are not the be all and end all of driving. Skill is an huge part. Throttle control was massive for this race. Even though I gave up and dropped to the back for poor race craft I was still lapping competitive times with the 6th on back drivers, mainly by only using 2/3 or half throttle to control wheelspin. You would be surprised by some of the drivers lapping on DS4s

Those AWD cars again. Good to see thoiugh. I'm happy for them.

Edit: 7th gear was non-existant. SOme SLS messed up my race. I jumpe don the RMs at about Lap4. Was ahead of a 65)s and this SLS wants to go up the insode one of the 90degree turns. I get bumped wide. I finished ahead of it, but might have gotten ahead of the Slophy, after my last stop on RS.

Disconnected halfway through qualifying.. Afgh
Thought this might mean I could bring up the rear in your next round but my attempt to raise SR says no. Since a McDonalds wifi user just tanked my SR again is it even worth entering an FIA with an A SR?

Edit: This lobby is better than the Fugu one I ended up.in while a low SR S. Surprising characters in here all victim of the dailies. Still got to be top 2 for the points to count. Got decent enough speed, just need consistency.

Yeah I guess it depends how serious you are. I just take it as a bit of fun, I do like getting good results though. The driving in the lobbies im in can be horrible even with all S/SR drivers.

About to start next slot, a whole let loss points on offer but oh well. Qualified 3rd and starting mediums cos I have no idea what strategy is gunna work:lol:

Edit*

Not a bad race. 3rd back to 5th but was never passed (looks like wrong strategy there). Consistent lap times throughout even though I had to do a bit of fuel saving for a 1 stop, and was making good ground late on softs getting from 8th back to 5th on the last lap with my buddy in the mustang in front up to 4th, who seemed to be running the same strategy. The m4 is hopeless on tyres and fuel around Alsace, fronts go after 2 laps of pushing, but are ok if driven smoothly and much better once some fuel has burned off.

Seeing as points on offer to me now are so low I'll probably have another race or 2 and try 2 stopping, don't think the m4 will survive 1 stopping with softs on the first stint packing a full tank of fuel, at least with my driving.

Ran Alsace. P17 > P5. From my point of view it was a good race.
Not so for about P7 back almost to the last car. A car ran out of fuel about a third of a lap to go. Starting with me (6th at the time) he attempted to block / sideswipe every car that passed him, which was almost everyone left in the field. Fortunately he missed at least half of them, but why aren't cars that are out of fuel ghosted to prevent this sort of petulant childish tantrum?
I suppose the occasional incident of this nature is almost inevitable racing a time slot just after school gets out, but it's truly disappointing to see this in FIA.

Eh, I like Alsace. A lobby drivers, not so much. Started p8 after a so-so qualifying. Got push passed a touch on lap 1, when I try to pass back a slight tap gives me a 1 second penalty. Next one I got I earned, but just a slight brake difference issue, no one in real trouble. Coming down the hill to the final chicane someone doesn't brake. I get put into the wall and passed by about 3 people. Lap 1 over, dropped to p12 or 13 and now got 4 seconds of penalties.

It went up from there as I raced back to p7, but dropped to p8 as I just couldn't brake early enough to defend on the last uphill bit. Very close to p7, but no luck. Would be nice to see what happens if I don't get wiped out and penalized like that. No points, but still a solid drive so I will take it. Now for more Sardegna torture chamber.
