Much more points on offer this race, currently sittiing in 4th in qually. Has anyone 2 stopped?

Ended up in 7th after qualifying, and was running nicely but got suckered into 1 stopping again :odd:. This time softs to mediums. I saw the first 4 pit a lap earlier which is when I was planning so I'll have to check the replay to see what they did, but me and the dude in front both pitted a lap later and ran to the end finishing 9th and 10th.

Much better haul of points than the earlier race so im off to the pub for dinner

Good luck all!

Wheels are not the be all and end all of driving. Skill is an huge part. Throttle control was massive for this race. Even though I gave up and dropped to the back for poor race craft I was still lapping competitive times with the 6th on back drivers, mainly by only using 2/3 or half throttle to control wheelspin. You would be surprised by some of the drivers lapping on DS4s

I used the same throttle control on my DS4 (I don't have the room for a rig) and had good results. I agree that having a rig isn't necessary to having a good race.

Qualified in 11th and decided to run Mediums first. Kept up with the pack for a while but when tires started to wear I got passed by a couple of cars. Pitted lap 5 with the others around me putting too but they were on Softs. Just went for it on the Softs, pitting again lap 9 for fuel and Softs. Came out the pits in 7th and caught and passed more cars. Last corner, 3rd hit the wall but he just crawled over the line before I passed him. Finished less than 6 seconds off the winner! Biggest points haul To date. 👍

Looking forward to the Alsace race this evening. But: what a difference from yesterday’s Nations race at Spa! Going from Gr3 cars in the rain to Gr4 cars at Alsace, with its banked turns and the lower power cars… from driving with an egg under the throttle pedal, to a really momentum type course and race.

Is the Alfa any good at Alsace? I’m assuming no, but I haven’t tried it yet.

The Alfa felt mediocre today. This is coming from someone who had not raced the Alfa in FIA since it got completely butchered at Maggiore, so take it with a grain of salt. I clocked a 2:01.5 in Time Trial, but struggled to replicate that in qualifying.

First race. Qualified 17th. Race ruined after I nearly ran someone off the road while I was too focused on taking a corner. He took offense to that and slammed me off the hairpin before the high speed banked right. I qualified 15th in the second race, but it went to hell after I got a phone call mid-race, shattering my focus and sending me off the second high speed left before the 90° right and into dead last (18th). Lesson learned: Turn on Do Not Disturb before the race.

Third race was much better, but it felt average. Qualified 11th, ran 6 Soft-1 Med-6 Soft. I was holding 9th until a mistake dropped me to 10th. I was able to hold off 11th until he made a mistake and fell away. The Softs did well, but seemed to start dropping off on the 5th or 6th lap. I couldn't make any headway on 9th, especially with 2 mistakes on the final lap. I'll take the 10th, though I'm pretty sure my DR took a beating from the 2 terrible races.

I don’t think I’ve ever done a race at Alsace so doing the Manu today is probably a bad idea, but I like the idea of the pit stops and no hard tyres for once so I’m getting so practice in. Managed to get a few laps under 2:01 in free practice in the SLS AMG. That’s probably not quick enough to be competitive enough at 29k so I should probably get some more time in and go for a later race.

I was hoping to do today's race at Alsace for another DR build session, since I was planning on skipping this round anyway. After doing the final 3 Nations races last night, I barely had time to properly learn the track, but I just barely got my lap time under 2 minutes. Based on where I usually stack up, I should be somewhere in the 1:58s, so I need to find over 1s to get to where I "should" be. However, I'm also at 35k DR, which is about 10k from where I "should" be as I continue to recover from my DR reset. Anyone know if a high 1:59 would be competitive in low/mid DR A? Basically, if I don't have a good chance of gaining at least 1000 DR from these races, I'll just keep grinding Daily Race A instead.

I’m struggling to hit my presumptive speed targets too. I think there is a bigger spread/delta with this combo, from top times to low A/high B drivers. At least I hope so! I’m usually good for 2% off top times in Gr4 but not here. I think the faster guys get more speed out of the softs. Crossing my fingers I’ll be competitive in my Cayman.

Excellent race and good fun. Was pleased with 5th in qualifying even though it felt a little slow :)

Went for 4S/5M/4S and was leading at one point as I was last to pit coming in end of lap 9 for final Softs. Did get punted into the barrier end of lap 12 but luckily didn’t get damage and the rammer got a deserved 2 second penalty!

Looks like I moved up some places after the 16th round for each championship - I'm now 7th in CT and 6th with Hyundai. Neat!

Anyway, I'm thinking for the race at Alsace tonight, I'm gonna go on all Mediums. Good idea? Similarly, I wanna know what's gonna be good for the Nations Cup race this Saturday, which features Gr.4 at the Streets of Willow. I'm also thinking of staying on Mediums for that one, too. I was thinking for a car, maybe something FF, since there's more turning than not, and I'm glad the RCZ got a nerf, too. So maybe the TT Cup?

First attempt I completely bottled qualifying by spinning at the same corner twice, so started 17th. Did 2m 5s 6s and worked my way through the field up to 9th.

After seeing how good the jag is up the hill I went again, and managed 7th this time in quali. Overtook someone right at the start, and then again up the hill. Front 2 were FF cars so no chance of catching them, but was having a good race with a dodge just behind me.

Pitted lap 5, did 2 laps on the mediums and then pitted for softs and fuel. Got jumped by the Dodge due to his better fuel(?!?) but I was really hassling him so was having fun. Then I got killed by a guy coming out of the pits. Not his fault, just a bad design of pit exit. So I ended up in a good fight for 4th but couldn't make a clean pass.

I actually think this track is quite fun, even if the FF cars are dominating.

Would be nice to have an option to be put into lobbies with only DS4 users. It’s just crazy how wheels get you an extra 2 seconds.

what's crazy is that people think that by getting a wheel they just magically gain 2 seconds. some of the fastest people in the game, in the world, use DS4. even world tour level drivers. and some of them are slower on wheel than they are on DS4. this might sound like a wild idea, but you should probably just practice more. if your SR is above 90, the matchmaking is pretty good and you will be matched against people with similar DR level, regardless of input device.

Tire strategy for today? I know I said I was going to skip this one but after today I'll fall back to 6th in the standings currently 8 points up on 5th. I lost out to S rank on the final week last season, can't let that happen again, lol! I'm managing low 1:59s should be decent if I can qualify in the 1:58s. Tire wear looks rough!

Sorry but when in a one-make race a wheel user can take a corner at a faster speed there is definitely an advantage. Not to mention how much easier it is to throttle control and turn with more precision. There is a reason all the top drivers use a wheel. I just don't understand how people can deny this advantage.

That’s not true at all, what part aren’t you understanding? There ARE top drivers on DS4’s, world tour guys. @Dodge Lamb and @Windfire1010 come to mind, I’m not sure if they are still using a pad but they did for a long time. I’m sure there are more too, I think @GT5Power was a pad user up until recently as well. The main reason they switched was because PD won’t let people use DS4 at a WT event as far as I know, not because of a wheel advantage.

The only real disadvantage is in tire wear, not overall speed. Most guys who get a wheel actually lose 1-2 seconds a lap until they get used to it, if they ever do. I know a few guys who got a wheel and ended up going back to a DS4 instead too, because it’s harder to get used to. So, stop making excuses and just practice more. ;)

you don’t have to be sorry for being wrong, but wrong is exactly what you are. you’ve stated things that are demonstrably false. I just don’t understand how people can deny cold hard facts when presented with them.

That's another advantage. Tire wear. I can run laps over and over and get a perfect lap and still be 1.5 - 2 seconds off the top time. Then I will watch his replay and see him take corners a few miles an hour faster. How can I get better when there are limitations to what a DS4 can do compared to a wheel? There are literally corners I can not take as fast even if I brake perfectly and accelerate at the perfect time.

Use a DS4 then :D

Why are you blaming the input device, instead of the guy holding it? I have a wheel and still don’t match top times either, what can I use for an Excuse? How about the fact that they are better drivers then me? ;)

Edit: Never mind, I’m arguing with Florida Man here. I give up, you win.

I've used a wheel before and my times improved. I've watched replays of wheel users and they can take corners faster than my controller will let me. I've read multiple threads where numerous players agree there is an advantage.

Edit: Shame how you result to personal insults.
