Man, going through BMB Infield consistently is going to be tough, my lap times varied wildly over the 15 laps I had time to put in tonight. Because I'm not great at the very light braking that seems to be needed for the first section and the 2nd-3rd to last turn complex, I'm finding I need to brake while staying on the gas to not lose too much speed and stay stable, but there's not way that's fastest. Not so sure I want to run this one.

And Maggiore backwards. I still have little experience doing that, at least it's one of the short versions with part of the track cut out, but I just can't get the flow of that track down.

This weekend isn't looking too good, if I do go I might drop below 40k DR again.
Feel the same, I'm a total novice on both of the layouts for this weekend. I'm not too far off getting what I think is a competitive pace and consistency at BMB but around Maggiore I'm miles off! Will get some practice in today and hopefully stand some chance in the race. I really like longer races, especially with high multipliers, I just wish that they weren't at these two tracks!

I am not a fan of testing for Round 24's races.
Took me unusually longer to get a good Time Trial time for both races, and then trying to get a decent total race time without doing anything stupid was a nightmare.

If you’re having issues, then I guess this weekend’s races will be... interesting as a mid-B driver. Two pseudo-endurance races on the same day, followed by having to wrangle a tail-happy road car around the expressway the following day. And considering what I’ve heard about the penalty system, this weekend is going to be a big roulette.

I've never driven at Blue Moon Bay so probably why I'm enjoying it but only real inconsistent line is T1 for me. Coming off that banking is rough going in the Ford GT. I'm thinking 1:07s and low 1:08s may be a pretty decent pace 14M 15M 1H

Oh and to be honest fuel wasn't really much of an issue considering 35 minute race, one of the few races I hadnt had to refuel in pit lane.

That new slipstream going to make qualifying and staying with the leaders hell.

I'm finding it difficult to get it right every time without the car bouncing over to the outside of the corner coming off the bank.

Same here, It's easier to take it wide little smoother and faster on exit but I'm not sure people will play well there expect to see somebody taking a peak up the inside there if close enough and hope they don't bounce into you lol

Since participation seems to be down, the rooms have a larger DR split than normal.

That’s funny, I thought more people were playing GTS, given the current situation. So, I suppose I just was in a real tough lobby on Wednesday, then? I usually gain at least one position above my qualifying position in my races - barring any egregious mistakes on my part - but it felt like Wednesday was a real struggle. It felt like everybody was passing me, and the car couldn’t keep up - and that’s even though I passed some people that spun out, too. I’m also wondering if the track was a factor - maybe the Hyundai Gr.4 is especially weak on that particular course.

I don’t feel like I made any notable mistakes, so I don’t feel as if it’s just me getting rusty. I think, as a DR A driver, it was just a hard lobby, even though my door number was 10. We’ll see what happens with the next round.

The number of drivers has trended down all season (At least here in the Americas region), probably both due to the pandemic recovery having people get back out of the house and also normal fall-off as the season wears on.

you can see the number of players in each round easily on the site https://gtsport.r1s3.net/user/10410461

one thing I noticed is that while Porsche is the most popular manufacturer by far, it’s also the one that loses the most drivers through the season. Seems to be the default noob and/or not serious player, so the number falls off a lot from the start of the year.

I'm looking forward to PD getting embarrassed on the Top 16 streams tomorrow for this utterly stupid bump-drafting penalty. Then again they'll find some way to make the next update worse when trying to "fix" it...

I get that their main priority is GT7 now, but you'd think they'd at least test this stuff before releasing the update, if only to avoid looking like lazy idiots. If they can't spare any resources because of GT7, don't bother with any updates at all.

Yeah, to be honest, I feel like this’ll be both my first and last entry into a championship. It feels like it just goes on for too long and I don’t feel like I wanna spend my time doing it. I think in GT7, I’d rather check out more specialized championships if they appear - like if they have a Mazda Roadsters Championship - but I plan to mostly do whatever the successor to the daily races is, as well as lobbies. Especially if they give us more lobby customization options. Even though I’m doing pretty decent in both FIAGTCs (I’m in the top 10 out of at least 60 entrants for both of them) I feel like I’m not having as much fun as I could be.

I mean, it’s alright, but I’d really rather have more interesting vehicle restrictions, like that first round of this Nations Cup stage at Laguna Seca, or the upcoming N800 race at SSRX. (Or, as a throwback, that Nations Cup World Tour race that had everybody use older sports cars at Goodwood Circuit.) I’m tired of it usually either being a one-make or including the entirety of a class. And I wanna see more classes than just Gr.4 and Gr.3 in the Manufacturers Series, too. Maybe even Gr.1 and Gr.B, although it’d likely lead to some marques being swapped out with another. Even the N-Series could get involved! It feels like in GTS, so many road cars go unused for most of the time.

I do think some of this stage’s Nations Cup one-makes are indeed interesting, namely the ones featuring the R32 @ Autopolis and the E46 @ Panorama, but I also think there’s more interesting stuff that could be done. Of course, I don’t think we can discount the idea that the FIAGTCs are also a way for PD to collect data on what cars may need a buff/nerf, or maybe even a new car entirely.

When I heard about the penalties being given to bump drafting, I was wondering if it was done for this race and how much of a mess it's going to cause.
Then what would even be the point of having this race on the schedule? They put an oval race on the schedule but don't want actual "proper" oval racing? While I love oval racing, there's obviously very little you can do strategically in them, especially when you don't even have to lift for the entirety of the race like at Route X. Bump-drafting properly (especially in corners) actually takes skill and would actually allow those of us who know how to do it to show off our skills and maybe add an interesting dynamic to a race that's otherwise just "don't lift for 10-15 minutes".

I'm thinking that if I can do the Manufacturers Series race this Saturday, I'm gonna go 18H/12M, but what do you think? Maybe 20H/10M instead?

I think I also read that the N800 race at SSRX will only feature provided cars and tuning will be fixed, so I think that means only cars that come stock in N800 will be permitted. Which N800 car do you think will be good, in that case? There seem to be five cars that come stock in N800, and funny enough, two of them are Lamborghini models and two are Aston Martins, with the Mach Forty being the fifth one. But that said, the Aston Martin Vulcan seems to have the best power/weight ratio, as well as the most power overall. Good thing there's no need to brake at SSRX, as I'd say the brakes are one of the Vulcan's worst attributes - at least as far as GTS' interpretation goes. I feel like as a track-only car, the Vulcan should've be put into Gr.X, alongside the Zonda R and P1 GTR.

A gold mine for memes. :) I'm in.

I think everyone, especially in NA for Nations, should not do Top 16.
I'm just barely out of reach of Top 16, please Kaz, let me in

You make some good points in there. I have enjoyed my first season, I'm really glad @Jwptexas encouraged me to do it, as I was hitting the limit of entertainment with Dailies and didn't realize how the FIAGTC worked... but it's been a blast. Was even better once I found this place and the good community of racers all enjoying it the way it's supposed to be.

I do think that it's a bit on the long side... maybe 8 races per Stage, and I think if they are gonna host 30 races, that only counting 8 of them for the whole year is on the light side (though I understand the reality of the math says it doesn't change much)... but at the same time, the thing that hooked me on it was that it was set up so that if you missed some chances to race, it doesn't hurt your overall season chances much. Turned out I was able to join most so far... and I guess I didn't expect to get hooked on it like I did!

I agree that some more specific shorter-run championships would be fun, as you said, I did also like some of the one-make races (Miata at BMB stood out for me, the Lambos at Monza were surprisingly fun, I was bummed to miss the Fugu Z and F-1500T races, they looks super fun). A Spec series (like the Supra one but with better racing cars... maybe!) mixed class-racing, both good ideas for more 'official' championships.

But overall, I think the $10 I spent on the game last holiday season may have been the best $10 in fun I've ever spent, given the FIAGTC season and the good times I've had so far. Maybe I'll focus on some more private lobby racing with the good guys here, when the season is over, but for now I want to make one last push for the best rank I can get in both series over these last 7 rounds!

I was just doing some practice for the Manu race at Blue Moon Bay. In my custom race, the backmarkers were an added challenge. In Dailies, lapped cars get ghosted. It’s my first season and the longest race on the shortest track so far, so I was curious. Do lapped cars get ghosted in FIA races?

No idea, I was hoping that the penalty system would be reworked so you wouldn't get a penalty for bump drafting (I haven't tried doing it in a while so I'm not sure if it still does that). I was really looking forward to the bump-drafting and side-drafting action tbh.

Happy to have got you involved man I've been keeping up with your season lots of improvements since the season started! It's too bad we haven't raced each other all year in FIA it's always fun battling you and the Porsche. Welcome to come join lobby practice anytime I usually got one open practicing FIA races.

I'm very confused with the WRX Gr.4's relative performance. At Spa where I expected it to be slow (due to the high speed sections and not being many low speed/traction corners), it was right up there. At Sardegna B, a technical track, I was nowhere. Even with slipstream on the straight, I was still getting passed by an NSX with no slipstream

My hypothesis is the 4WD cars perform relatively better with RH tyres, because having that extra 2 wheels for acceleration is a big benefit compared to the FWD/RWD cars. Secondary benefit is, there is less understeer at the end of the stint because the tyre wear differential between front & rear is less. Whereas with RM/RS, the FWD/RWD can compensate for their lack of traction so 4WD has no benefit, and in fact becomes a liability because your car just becomes an understeering trolley at the end of the stint as the front/rear wear differential grows. Of course the FFs have this problem too, but usually with their superior one lap pace they manage to qualify much higher up and/or break away from the field to create a buffer.

Sadly, with the new weaker slipstream the Subie is just going to get even less competitive. Not looking forward to the rest of the races this season...
