It's also an officially sanctioned FIA championship.

Speaking of FIA officialdom, what ever happened to getting a real FIA license from playing this game? I've been waiting for the word to go down to my local Automóvil Club Argentino and get my FIA license by just showing a screenshot of my profile and then buy a seat in Turismo Carretera and make an ass of myself just like I do in the GTS FIA races!

The FIA Licence changed into the Star Player system.

The former is what happens when you don't let the player set their fuel amount, the exact same thing happens in iRacing Indycar.

If the game won't let me empty my fuel tank for qually, I'll do it myself

Oh don't get me wrong, it's a brilliant strategy and as you generously stated, you have no issues sharing this tip that nets drivers with ~0.5sec. If the game allows it, by all means.

Looking forward to spectating the final FIA races where all the drivers begin their quali by cruising around, redlining in 1st gear.

So far, I've been trying to get my practice time below 2:05.5 on Nurburgring GP with the Viper Gr. 4 (Manufacturer's Series).
I have a good feeling that I'm going to have a bad time. I can't get my time below 2:05.5.

I got this a while back in preseason after a very hard fought win. I just joined GTP so I'd figure I'd ask.
What does this actually mean? I'm definitely not even close to the fastest even today I'm 22nd and I'm far better than i was then. Does it mean I had the best elapsed race time?

I'm A like you and have done 2:06 flat, but without a lot of practice. Sounds like I'm really in trouble. Edit: Subaru

You were the best-placed driver with a US account in that race.

No idea if we're in trouble, though? I keep reviewing the 2:02 time someone got in the Viper Gr. 4 and have been trying to match it without success. I have a feeling that we'll probably match with those that are getting 2:04 - 2:05.. hopefully.
I've tried messing with Brake Bias too, to little success. Oh well. lol

Hope this help you at least a bit. Sorry for my bad english, but i tried to do my best

Ain’t easy to achieve with the Viper, cause Awd cars have the advantages here.
Cheers!

Do any of you have a video of FIA practice for the Nissan GT-R for Nurburgring?

At the moment my best I can manage in the GT-R is a 2:09 but I feel that's way off the pace, I am not sure if it's my brake balance that's
the problem though as I am driving it on TC 2 without CSA (as per FIA switch off) and brake balance is -2, I've tried 0 but the car's too
skittery in turn 1 and the hairpin.

qualifying first, the game for some reason gave me second place... again 🤬 (I was in the pole position)
Not sure what exactly you're saying, but there's a known issue during qualifying that only drivers on track appear in the ranking on the left side of the screen, so one cannot be sure of one's result until qualifying is over.

I recommend getting used to driving it without TC. It's not hard to do with Gr. 4 AWD cars, and TC can slow you down e.g. in high speed corners.

I'm not getting this, why would you empty your tank in qualy... plz esplain

I'm struggling to do faster than like a 2:07.7 at nurb gp with the Aston. I'm so boned this week :banghead::banghead: Hopefully I can do halfway decent in the Nations race

Don't get too upset, fake promises are a thing nowadays...
You don't understand... I used that as an excuse so wife would let me buy a PS4 and a G29:lol:. And now, there is no online license??? What the actual ****? Now, seriously, I'm offended. If they cannot mantain their word about that then GT Sport is not worth the effort, I bought all the gear for the license. I'm going to start saving for a decent computer and race in Assetto Corsa, at least they have the offcial Blancpain GT series game.
IMO without the license PD promised this is just another game.

On the official FIA website there is still mention of the Digital Licence (https://www.fia.com/polyphony-digital), although is probably out of date.

It's either gone completely or is being reserved for those who qualify for Regional/World Finals. Considering how even low rank drivers can qualify for Superstar status by virtue of being in a small country or choosing an unpopular manufactuer, if the licence still is planned it's probably a good thing it's separated from S rank.

Ok, so at the moment there is no official "**** the license" call, right? I'll cling to that, but if it goes south I will dedicate the rest of my life to troll PD

The way i see this going is the licence being used as a special prize for the very best drivers that qualified for the live championships.

PD survived all that Vaccum Cleaner sounds trolling from the PS3 days, your trolling is a ant compared to that.

That would be great for you, guys. I'd love to see the real pros of this game (and this forum) at the top, being streamed and watched by thousands, showing to the world that racing online is a legit thing. I really hope you guys get that license, and also a ticket for a real racing team.

About the trolling, I was being sarcastic:cheers:, I have a 14 hours job 5 days a week, a mortgage, 2 kids, a management degree for the next 4 years, a magazine to edit and a club to chair. Sometimes I have spare time to take a **** and I don't have to use diapers. I don't have time to troll anyone, but I will find time to enjoy the game as it is, without a license (like I have an option). I'm Kent's #1 with Nissan, I'm happy with just that :(

The license always seemed pretty arbitrary anyway, like as in even PD had no idea what it was. Since the information surrounding it was so vague I always expected it to fall through.

Great video! Last time I checked the Megane has the advantage here, but ok. :)

Right now I think the Viper is the last good FR drivetrain Gr.4 car that is competitive in this championship (all other FR cars either waste too much fuel, or are just simply too slow), Nik_Makozi's doing a 2:03.0 with the SLS and that's a seriously underperforming car. You've made a wise choice choosing SRT. ;)

The concept seemed very simple to me: a GT Sport FIA digital licence could be used to replace the written portion - or indeed the whole - of an entry level motorsports licence test with organising bodies (such as the MSA in the UK) that recognised it.

The written portion of an MSA National B Licence is just flags and multichoice questions (all of which are "follow the instructions of the marshalls") anyway. And the practical part is three laps at 50mph to see if you can follow a racing line. No reason why the Digital Licence can't replace all of that.

Although at £250, it's still cheaper to do the proper licence than it is buying a PS4, wheel and GT Sport...

All that practice on the Manufacturer's Race only to get assigned a 12 hour work shift on the day of the race. :nervous:
Gotta make that money though to pay off my school loans lol.
Good luck everyone!
