The concept seemed very simple to me: a GT Sport FIA digital licence could be used to replace the written portion - or indeed the whole - of an entry level motorsports licence test with organising bodies (such as the MSA in the UK) that recognised it.

The written portion of an MSA National B Licence is just flags and multichoice questions (all of which are "follow the instructions of the marshalls") anyway. And the practical part is three laps at 50mph to see if you can follow a racing line. No reason why the Digital Licence can't replace all of that.

Although at £250, it's still cheaper to do the proper licence than it is buying a PS4, wheel and GT Sport...

They never delved that deep into the details though did they? I always seemed to remember Kaz talking about that Digital License in really roundabout ways without actually properly explaining what it was. Everything you just said makes perfect sense, I just don't remember PD going that deep into the details themselves.

Great video! Last time I checked the Megane has the advantage here, but ok. :)

Right now I think the Viper is the last good FR drivetrain Gr.4 car that is competitive in this championship (all other FR cars either waste too much fuel, or are just simply too slow), Nik_Makozi's doing a 2:03.0 with the SLS and that's a seriously underperforming car. You've made a wise choice choosing SRT. ;)
Thanks man!
Well, i choose Viper cause it’s my favorite car I’m glad that it’s also very fast. Gr3 and Gr4 are pretty good

What are your practice times for the Nations race?
Trying to benchmark where I'm at.
I'm at a 1:30.6 right now but I think I can get it down to sub 30's maybe. I've only done about 20min of practice and two cars.

30’s are good times with Tire wear, my best so far with Viper has been a 30,3 at lap 3. I was with TRL guys today, amd we all were basically on 30,5-30,8 regular

What cars are you guys using? Has anyone considered trying something like the Citroen?

I'm a bit clueless as to what cars are good for this track, my thoughts are that MR drivetrain NA/Turbo combos are best, so that would put Porsche, Citroen, Honda (very touchy on the turn in) and Peugeot (hard to be consistent, but great with fuel) in a good position. (McLaren/Ferrari (aka Slidey Boi) have very bad tyre/fuel wear)

Mercedes AMG GT isn't too shabby (Nik made a 30.5 with a full tank last night), fuel would require some managing to keep up with the rest. It's a possible option if you can deal with some slight understeering into the later stages of a 8-7 lap stint.

I was using the Viper, Augh Vette, Fuvaro Porsche, 5Zigen Beetle, Adam Lancer. There are many cars that are good tbh. The easiest to use might me Lancer, Porsche, Honda, Merc AMG.

You are right, but I know if I have a taste of a real track I will be addicted to it and I'll throw money into that forever (and ruin my family in the process, I don't like to repeat myself, so I won't tell the story of my mechanic again, is pretty sad).
If I get the real license I will want to race for real, and I will not control the tarmac addiction.
A little example of my tarmac addiction: yesterday I went from London to Rochester to eat at Frankie and Benny's (and now is when you check in google maps and find 3 restaurants of the same franchise between London and Rochester.... why would I go so far away? Just to go flat out on Kent's highway, which is one of the best in UK. That is without a racing license, if I get in a track it would be like releasing a nymphomaniac in the PlayBoy manssion with a VIP pass. I wouldn't know how to stop.
I'm going to Paris this weekend and I will take the free roads just because is 90 minutes more of driving.
We do rally on weekends (wife and I, she's another tarmac junkie). She reads the map and I drive. We have done together around 10k miles of Scotland/Wales/England exploring in the last year. We have done the whole east coast of Scotland in 1 go, non stop, just for fun. (Edinburgh to John O groats and down to Fort Williams and then to Cromarty)
I'm a tarmac junkie, imagine someone like me with a racing license? I would ruin myself. I rather race for 3 or 4 hours in a Ps4

Gotta make that money though to pay off my school loans lol.
Just out of curiosity, are you american or is your school loan from america?

I’m using the Lexus, felt by far the best out of the cars I tested. Renault and FT-1 were good, Porsche and Corvette were ok, Citroen and Lancer didn’t feel good at all to me. I might’ve tried the AMG but I’ve used it enough in the past, giving something different a chance.

So ... the less said about my race at Nurburgring the better. Started 17th, misjudged my breaking point at the chicane on the first lap (can't believe I was that guy, thankfully I was the only one who suffered as a result) dropped to last as I served my penalty, and then just ran the best pace I could. Ended up 18th. I should stay away from Nurburgring. :dunce:

I've tried the Lexus and Porsche so far. I was a fan of both with similar lap times in different ways.

I hadn't even thought to practice with fuel usage and tire wear. I'm guessing you found a lobby to run in?
I had just been practicing with fuel fuel and tires.

I'll be using the Hyundai. It's not the fastest, but it is VERY easy to drive and be consistent with, even with tire wear. I favor putting down consistent lap times over the course of a stint, rather than one lap pace. It's also one of the few gr.3 cars I've done more than 100 miles in.

I did the the Nations Race and had a run-in with @sundaydriving

I'm really sorry man, I bumped you while you were on the outside because I was understeering. I should've managed it better :( and then at T3 where we had another contact, there was no excuse to it. I had my nose stuck in where it shouldn't be

Dont sweat it. I didnt lose any places due to it at the end. Mightve picked up one more maybe. Thats maybe.. maybe not. I also couldve given you a bit more space a few times.

I got borked twice in qualy by the chinese guy coming out of the pit and staying on the racing line through t1 twice. what a clown. 2nd lap on the 2nd run i overtook them into the first corner, cleanly i will add, so they ran me off the road at the chicane. No more qualy and the idiot started last.

I see this sort of thing ALL the time... just... why? :scared:

You got me. Zero awareness. Also, why bother playing if you're just going to throw it away like that?

There was more than enough time for both of us to get around once more but not enough time for two more laps. I think they'd have got a decent enough time slipstreaming behind me or a better time than the one they did get - which was "no time".

Raced with @Alpha Cipher in today fia manufacture race.

Qualified at P8 and prayed for a safe T1 in the mid pack.:crazy::crazy: I don’t know why my Evo was in 1st gear but not 2nd when the race started. Immediately got passed by 1 SRT and 1 RC F. Approaching T1, spotted from rear mirror that another RC F and a Atenza were coming fast like a bullet. Luckily didn’t get bump from both bullets. The Atenza t-boned the RC F and SRT ahead. Somehow I passed T1 safely. But my race was ruined before T2. Got 10s penalty from hit by the SRT. Is it a penalty for my passive style of driving. I tried my best to avoid contact. In the end the car hit me got no penalty.🤬🤬

Finally served the penalty before crossing the line at P10. :(:indiff:

How can I avoid that penalty:confused: Did I deserve it:confused:

Anyone interested in me streaming the Manufacturer Race tonight?

Anyway, thanks guys for the replies. I watched Nik's stream today and it seems that the Mazda Atenza is the car to beat. The first two drivers in his lobby were using it and they just ran away with it when it came down to pitstops (somehow the Mazda is able to save a lot of fuel, but I haven't been able to see how). If you can get around its' touchy turbo, there's no reason anyone shouldn't use it.

I'm American. I just graduated from a 4-year university in San Francisco, CA.
That I was thinking, the average student loan here is not as bad as in USA. I had to do research for that in my first module in uni.

It is very pedantic to quote oneself (but in my case is not out of character at all), so I'll put that piece of information in a spoiler, the numbers are eye watering.
(...)With the current system, students will start repaying an annual 9% of what they earn above £25,000. In theory, if a student finds a job where gets a gross wage of £30,000 a year, the amount to repay would be a 9% of the gross wage over the £25,000 threshold. That would mean £450 (approximately £37 per month from a monthly salary of 2,500.) One could argue that these conditions are not exactly draconian. The average monthly student loan payment in Unite States is $393, according to the Federal Reserve (2017) (...)

Nope, nothing. The game probably saw it as me doing something. The car in front had nice green bars, wasn't lagging, and other than him hitting the wall a couple of times, all was well. Believe me, I was holding back waiting for him to hit the wall a third time. Actually it was pretty funny. He was there and then poof! he was gone.

Oh well. I've had worse things happen. Hurts less when it's 4th place and not the lead.

@vvise this one is not documented on video but hurts too, curious example.

Like I said Saturday I did only the Nations cup today; no miracles pulled, got 15th with a little improvement on the points side  The nations cup for me ends today, but I started to consider doing the Man. seris at Le Mans this weekend 💡 Let's how I will feel that day :)

Another disastrous Nations race. Again I had a terrible quali and started 15th and PD decided to slow my RS01 right down to 20mph as the lights went green. I understandably get rear ended and got sent right to the back of the grid, 10 seconds behind the pack.... Came home in 13th which I was impressed with given the situation. Not the first time the Renault has been unusually slow on the warm up prior to the race starting, but 20mph is taking the biscuit, while everyone behind me was going through the last corner at 40. Season 2, you've been a nuisance!!

Came 9th in the latest nations cup race. Would've been 6th or 7th but I had to make a second pit stop at the second to last lap.

Boring race, too many tight corners, terrible settings. Couldn't have the traction control lower than 2 or else i'd spin on every corner. It's just not fair. But I feel I have to keep entering these things or I will be bullied for my low score.

They've all been disastrous. God dammit PD, SUPER SOFT tyres please. I can't corner without spinning.

Throwing caution to the wind, I need 2400 but the chance of it happening in the Group 4 Corvette are almost zero, Lets give it a go!
