Wasn’t expecting it to become a long debate so I’ll stop now. Btw, I wasn’t dirty. What happened after the block was a desperate move to avoid going straight to the wall so I instinctively turned to the left, trying to do the curve, without even thinking of where his car was (it ghosted and didn’t hit him. Got zero penalty btw). Maybe lack of skill, but not dirty.

You were more likely to go into the wall by continuously turning left on a straight, during a braking zone, so much so that you cut the corner, as opposed to driving normally.

No one is buying your excuse okay?

Important parts:
CHAPTER IV - CODE OF DRIVING CONDUCT ON CIRCUITS
2. Overtaking, car control and track limits

e) It is not permitted to drive any car unnecessarily slowly, erratically or in a manner deemed potentially dangerous to other drivers at any time.

For what its worth, these rules don't seem to apply...

How? The game does not penalise anyone for breaking any of those "rules". For that matter, the game requires you to break one of those rules if you have already been penalised for something else...

I assume you meant e). In which case, yes, I think its mad to make players slow down on track to serve penalties.

Maybe they've changed it but last time I tried to serve a penalty off track, you know to get out of the way of other players while stopped... I just picked up more penalties. I guess I was breaking rule c. crazy.

Well, it did work and I could slow down the car enough to go back on track. Never thought for a second about creating a bigger accident and hitting his car, believe me or not. It’s obvious that my move affected him though, and it’s fair to blame me on that, but again, instinct and maybe lack of skill but not a deliberate dirty move.

Maybe we should have a topic dedicated to discussing race accidents.

No one can be 100% sure but you can find the account in question in Mitsubishi > France > Auvergne-Rhone-Alpes and there is only one guy that fast in that area and you can find him in Nissan > France > Auvergne-Rhone-Alpes. It could of course be an fake area, but the account was made months ago I assume just to get that political figure onto T10 leaderboards so there wasn't really any reason to put an fake area.

You mention locations, is there a way you can view everybody in your location then?

I'm genuinely intrigued. I was asked to put in my location on GTS a month or so ago IIRC. I put Greenwich (which is where I'm from), is there a way of me checking and seeing what other drivers are in Greenwich and how I rank against them?

Yes, Both in the ingame leaderboards and on the GT Sport site.

sorry mate I'm an absolute noob and GTS site is blocked at work so I cannot access and navigation on iPhone isnt the greatest.

Can you link the page on GTS site where the leaderboards are? I will then type it on my phone.

Also, I thought in-game leaderboards only showed top-10 times and friend rankings?

After the race, instead of “sorry”, he tells me he only “****ing blocked me” and that “I had to be a ****ing brazilian”. Seems like he owns the inside line no matter what. Imo, 100% his fault but would like to hear opinions.
His defend there was completely standard, the only weird thing about that video is you swerving left for some reason.
I think his comment to you after the race was less: "I ****ing blocked you" as you seemed to interpret it as, and more: "What the heck was that?? I only blocked (defended) you"
I too would be pretty surprised if someone did to me what you did to him, tbh.

Compare these clips and see if you can spot the difference;
First one is yours:

Same defensive move, what looks different?

*Edit: damn, 2nd clip works in preview :S Can a mod fix or delete this post. Sorry!

I see your clip. Huge difference. Yours happened at the middle of that straight. Mine was right before the turn. You had plenty of time to move to the right and still prepare for the turn ahead. In my case my view was blocked and I missed the breaking point because of the forced change of direction, resulting in my desperate attempt to turn to the left. And he literally said “****ing block”, not my interpretation.

You also had plenty of time to react. His maneuver was slow, smooth, and predictable. You also had plenty of time to look ahead if you knew where to look at. You just felt like you didn't have enough time because you got too distracted by his car. If that maneuver was enough to interrupt your track awareness, I think you need relearn how to race in traffic

Blocking is also sometimes interchanged with defending. I only know the difference between the two because of gtp, honestly. If I weren't here I'd still call defending as "blocking", and blocking as swerving

Because it's such a standard defend to the inside there I'm already expecting it and planning to brake to the outside anyway, rather than trying to force the issue ducking & bobbing around his bumper to the extent that you miss your braking point.

Not calling you dirty or anything, but I strongly disagree with your assertion about him being dirty - it's not his fault you missed your braking marker and had you not, you could have easily braked to the outside and more than likely got him off the corner.

Can we all just agree to disagree and answer my post instead? :gtpflag:

In all seriousness, post #3306. Please can somebody answer lol Are the area/location leaderboards only for Nations and Manufacturers cup?

Found the video from that clip on your channel. In your case the guy in front was following the natural line for that section and kept his car on the left, exactly what I expected to be a clean defensive line. That is the normal behavior there and happens all the time. But if you watch my clip again you’ll see he took the left till he passed the billboard (normal line), moved to the right then moved again to the left to do a late block. He was mimicking my moves.

The most interesting from this discussion was learning that some people tolerate aggressive blocking on GTS, though it’s rare to see it happening in races of A+ drivers and is considered wrong in real life racing.

Blocking is very prevalent in A+ races and everywhere. Verstappen has made blocking cool and OK just like Senna made dive bombing cool and OK. Personally I consider blocking the dirtiest move you can make other than brake checking and it implies cowardice and inability to race side by side through a corner.

Still maintain that this only happened because of the flags beside your name. Wouldn’t have happened in PCARS for example, where everyone is just a 3-letter abbreviation on the side of the screen.

Click manufacturers/nations for point rankings and you can look at local rankings there too or calendar for daily race time trial rankings beyond the top 10.

So is it really a one make race on the Nations Gr4 at Suzuka? I had a quick blast in the Megane Trophy and it seems to basically stick to the track, but if anyone has any other suggestions I would be grateful (I just hate driving the meta car if at all possible).

Maybe the Citroen like @OutlawQuadrnt suggested? Any others?

Citroen is 0,7-1,0s slower per lap than the Megane at suzuka. I will definitely try it out. If it's anywhere competitive with wear, i'll use her.

Don't know why 24SS in suzuka is only 13 laps long. These races usually are 35 minutes in total time, and this one will be barely 28 more or less.

Maybe the problem in Round 4 was to do with how late Nations finished. 38:30 or so race time and only had a minute or so between leaving the lobby and signing up to Manufacturers, and I left quite quickly.

I'd rather they just did the standard 2 minute warm up instead to save time. 5 is pointless when you consider the people in a T24 have usually already practiced the combo in a custom race or lobby (except the 2 who chose the longboi in EMEA ). Races need to be 35+ minutes to encourage 1 vs 2 stop battles, any shorter and it becomes an obvious 1 stop short shifting race.

More than one change of direction to defend a position is not permitted. Any driver moving back towards the racing line, having earlier defended his position off-line, should leave at least one car width between his own car and the edge of the track on the approach to the corner.

I mentioned this before but now with more clear rules and a gif I'll restate it. I would argue he only leaves the racing line once and defends left. The initial move to the right was just following the racing line and before you started passing.

Discussing racing rules is entertaining. I’ll make sure to create a new thread for this kind of debate the next time but I feel my little accident is taking too much space in this topic, so this will me my last post about this.

I understand your argument about one move, but it’d only make sense if you were talking about “one move off the optimum race line”. That section is pretty much a straight line and it’s easy to maintain your car in one side of the track. I took some screenshots to make it easier: after the chicane, he went to the left to optimize his line, then he moved to the right to prepare for the turn and block my passage there (was on his slipstream and faster because I exited the chicane much faster), then he moved to the left again when I was 1 centimeter from his car and already moving left, a very late defensive move. So late that he touched the front of my car when he turns left as you can see. The only fair defensive line would be sticking to the left.

I practiced with it today I got similar relative lap times. I didn't get the raved fuel efficiency that its known for though.

Last minutes near Nation Cup, and still not sure pick between Impreza or Evo
I wouldn't pick Megane anyway.

And starting next season only focusing in Nation cup, since I didn't have any luck in Manufacturer Cup

Because of me being a subie fanboy i would have chosen the wrx if i had to choose between the wrx and the evo but i think the evo is the faster and better car than the wrx overall (for gr4 at least)
