Nations. Bathurst. This circuit hates me. I kinda hate it too. I don't wanna go into too much detail. Supra. 20th. Genuinely felt like an obstacle on the track.lin

Picked myself up, dusted myself off.

Manufacturers. Tokyo. This track and I get along real well. Supra again. No leaderboards, sighting or anything like that. Just entered and slung it around on my usual lines, matched into an all C lobby. Qualifying - my first decent qualifying session in an FIA race, gave me 8th off the grid behind an Evo.

I really didn't think about strategy. Figured i'd fuel save a little with the shifting, as the Supra lends itself to eadly shifting anyways and plenty of slipstream to be had.

Rolling start and, naturally, up into 7th past the Evo. The first lap is kind of a blur, but I'm sure you can imagine why I gained a couple places, walls and punts. i managed to get 3 seconds worth through the penultimate two turns, but miraculously I think only one guy passed me. Now i'm up with the slightly quicker guys and just churn a couple of laps, using them as a guide to where I might brake a little later, and just trying to keep in the tow. The evo passes me, seems he is having a good race as well.

I'm up in 6th when I pit, and I'm just happy not to be in the wall at Bathurst, so I decided to pit with most of the pack ahead and grab fresh tires while I was there, even though I hadn't been feeling the wear too badly.

Seems no one else was fuel saving, I come out of the pits right on the bumper of the evo, who had previously gone a second up the road. I pass him, taking my mind off fuel and tires as I am up into 4th purely from time saved in the pits. I know my Q lap is conservative for fresh mediums so I go MAXIMUM ATTACK and start pushing it. Within a fe turns I notice I'm gaining on the lambo ahead and make it my mission to pass him and get my first FIA podium.

I dunno if he didnt change tires or something but by halfway through lap 8, I was on him. I waited until I could really justify passing, which came just before the line at the start of the final lap.

Deep breath. Keep it on the razor's edge and I'm onto a scorcher, the lambo losing time. Already pleased with the result, I come round the hairpin for the final time and see... An f1GTR in the wall with a 1.5 penalty... So.. Second then!

F1 driver was not happy and had words for the portugese chap in the lambo who, in my interactions with him, drove very clean, so I'm inclined to take his side over the guy I found in the wall completely of his own volition. Who knows though.

Tl;dr: There were ups and downs.

About to enter the 9PM Manufacturer race, my internet cuts out

Enter the 11PM one, everything's going fine. Last lap. Me and two other guys are following each other around - I don't think any of us put tyres on at the pits, since we were all about the same pace. Going through the final left hander before the hairpin one of them slings it up the inside, knocks me into the wall, I get a three second penalty

To make this worse, I've just checked the replay and they were both on fresh tyres. If I'd changed, I would've won. I've been irate at this game before but this sort of despondency is a new feeling.

I never even realised that was you! I think this is the first time I've been in a race with someone from gtplanet that I recognise. Not sure if there was contact between us at the first corner, I just remember coming out of the second part and seeing you with a 4 second penalty veering off into the wall. Unlucky.

Manufacturers was so frustrating, the Aston doesn't have good top speed when the straight is super long and I just couldn't keep up

For the Nations race I tried to no stop a lexus, but unfortunately it didn't really work. Not sure if it was the lack of my pace at Bathurst, but ended up qualifying in 15th and could only make it up to a mediocre 12th.

Should've used your Manufacturer Series car and a 1-stop tbh with ya.

Speaking of which, both of my Nations and Manufacturers races have me start in 5th and finished in 6th for over 1600 points each.

I started 12th and finished 6th in slot #2, courtesy of two penalties in front of me on the final straight of the final lap. I figured as I had a clean race and wasn't close to winning either 1st or 2nd timeslot then I would bank the points for it.

I got 1433 for 6th so roughly 1900 for 1st

Well, I was in that second race, and it was me that lost the car at the last lap at the Chase... I finished without the right front tire, even saving in the first stint using hard tires to do 5 laps. Those tire multipliers are complete killers to me. At least I managed to keep the 4th place at the end and improve my points in the championship. Anyway, congrats for the pole and the good result, this race was full of players with consistent pace (I believe that more than half of the grid were in the same second at the qualify) and you deserved the podium. We will probably race again a lot through out this Championship, because in Central/South America many players aren't racing too much because of the way the points are currently computed, so getting good points is an achievement.

Ps: I still don't know how I made Murray's Corner at the final lap without tires.

Got spun out of the lead at Bathurst, had the slightest tap on the rear left out of the chase and I cleaned up second place while spinning off. Wasn't malicious intent from second but accidents happen. In retrospect the Ford GT was too twitchy to attempt the race with on a DS4 for me.

Yeah, the first stint was hard but manageable, however the second one was harder, specially with the steeper wear after 2 and a half laps. Like I said, that race had a lot of consistent players, that could manage a good pace, so when I exited the pits I saw the fight that you cited in the mirror with some of those guys, you did very well.
The idea that people could manage a no stop strategy in this race surprises me, I didn't know it was possible...
We will race race again, See you there .

Really annoyed to hell with the Penalty system. I'm somehow penalized because I got shunted into or I lose SR because someone barely tapped me trying to bump draft. And then throw in the ridiculous Tire wear and oh boy, its down the toilet. Even better, My first attempt at Nations went down the crapper after I suddenly had no grip going into Turn 1 despite braking in the same place I always braked. For the rest of it, that infuriating on & off switch with grip (which for some reason I only encounter here at Bathurst) just made my life hell.

Really am beginning to question if enduring all of this is really worth that tiny possibility of making a live event despite the progress with my DR.

Edit: Also, Tokyo Expressway East Outer Loop can burn in digital Hell. Give me my damn chicane of death back.

How can this be still going on? Licenses need to be revoked. Where are the stewards PD?

MFG First slot, I was on pace with the other 2 GT-R in lobby when I got rammed from behind and received a 5s penalty. Lost contact with the front runner pack and lost the race. They finished with 2300, 2200pts.

MFG Second slot, I lead most of the race for 2100pts. On the final lap someone tries to squeeze between me and a wall on the straight, I get 3s penalty, the rest of the lap is a blur but by the time I get to the penalty zone i have 9.5s penalties and drop way way down.

MFG Third slot, I finish in 2nd for 1850pts and disappointed. I was actually in 3rd and bump drafting with 2nd @The359 to gain on the leader but out of nowhere he received a 5s penalty when I made contact with him overshooting my braking a bit. Totally undeserved and I wish I could somehow forgive the penalty for him during the race. Without him there I was not able to close the gap on the leader, it just stayed at 2s for the remaining 3 laps.

I was wondering why it seems everyones decided to start playing FIA like an idiot. We're talking top lobbys here.

My guess is two things, the broken penalty system is causing people to lose their minds and as everyone this season gets 12 chances to score a single good result in Nations the risk calculation in skewed way in favour of doing stupid stuff just in case it pays off.

After reading some of the posts on here about how Manufacturers is scored I haven't even bothered to look at it. I assume it is setup to incentivise risky behaviour somehow as well.

Welp, tough day. Turned my PS4 on one hour before the first Nations slot to warm up, and BOOM, HD corrupted AGAIN. But I think I know whats causing it. It's the damn eject button being pushed itself and somehow turning on the PS4 at late night.

So, after that, I had to download 90gb of content as fast as possible, and I got lucky my internet helped me and I downloaded in 2 hours, in time for slot 2 of manufacturers. Did a decent qualy to start in 3rd. Was first on lap 2 when I got a phantom 5s penalty and that destroyed my race. Not only that, my SR went down to 83 because of the bumping in qualy and race, that meant that I couldnt race Nations on top lobby, but I raced to get my SR back.

Back at 99 SR, I entered slot 3 and did an absolute amazing pole lap with some draft. On the race, it was a matter of bump and being bumped, the end result was great.

All the penalties and "risky" behaviour was because of the nature of both tracks this round, they both have lots of walls and it's hard to pass unless you're on the straight. The manufacturer's scoring system incentivises maximising your score every single round if you are in contention to be the top contributor to your manufacturer in your region. For some people they have decided to take certain risks compared to if each round was "one shot" and/or didn't have to make every round count. In terms of the penalty system, that's been a well documented joke for a while now so it's not new.

To this day, I remember an FIA race at Tokyo East where I had the Jag and I really felt good about winning that day. Well, it didn't happen because for all the speed I had, all it took was for others to keep drafting behind me and saving fuel and one single mistake of hitting the wall.

Even with the Pug VGT, that scenario was quite possible and guess what? That scenario began unfolding again. Unless something like BB Raceway is on the schedule, this was the best shot I was going to have this year to win in top split. Wasn't decided until the very end.

Didn't risk the Manufacturers with Porsche this time. I hate Tokyo and being a death trap for DR/SR, I sat this one out.

Tried the Nation's Cup with my Porsche instead. Qualified 5th, before falling down to 7th early in the race as I was shortshifting around. After the pitstop at lap 4, I was up to 4th as I didn't have to fuel that much compared to others. Made 1 mistake touching the grass, meant I had to settle for 5th struggling on the last lap for grip and fending off a Beetle sitting in 6th. only earned +1200 points. I tried my best, but I knew I wasn't great at this track with these settings.

I couldn't play yesterday. Wanted to try Bathurst despite not being really great at that.
Wasn't gonna bother Tokyo with the WRX, watching top racer streams... It was a mess! Can't imagine DrB in that race

That's what I'm doing. 2/4 I've done have been disasters but it's a lot of fun with the full qualifying sessions, you get more time to get to know the guys you're on track with and i've found that makes the racing good.

I scored 1128 pts after going from 12th to 5th in Tokyo with the Ferrari. Lost out on 4th by 0.005s. SR got destroyed by someone bump-drafting me the first two laps. After that, I settled in behind someone and drafted them on the straight switching between fuel map 4 and 5. I was faster than a big pack of cars ahead but just played it safe and jumped all of them in the pits. Not a single penalty for me. Probably could have won with a better qualy. But given the nature of the track (again: unfit for eSports) there was no way I was giving it another go.

I am still sitting 3rd for Ferrari in the CSA region, 906 behind the leader. I am going to miss the Green Hell so improving 900 pts in the last two rounds is probably out of the question.

Either way, looks like we have a really weak driver lineup (myself included) for Ferrari in CSA region. I'm going to have to do some Dailies to get my DR above 40,000. That's hurting me despite having some good, competitive races this season.

Had an interesting Nations Cup race yesterday, my fourth so far this season. Decided at the last minute to go for the Vantage GT3, and in an A-S ranked lobby managed to qualify third with my first flying lap. Given my starting position, my race strategy was a one-stopper, starting on Mediums before switching to Hards.

Onto the race itself, and despite a clean start the usual Bathurst chaos begins on Lap 1. First and second make contact at The Cutting after the polesitter runs wide at Griffiths, and I get rear-ended by a Toyota while trying not to get caught up in the collision ahead of me. This leads to me receiving damage to my rear bumper and losing a few places. A few more bumps and scrapes ensue, dropping me down to as low as 9th place. By the time I come in to pit on Lap 4, however, I am back up to 5th, mostly by avoiding further incidents and capitalising on the wave of penalties they brought. I decided at that point to take on an extra 1.4 laps worth of fuel, enabling me to take advantage of the Aston’s straight-line speed in the second half. In the end, this was enough for me to maintain 5th right up to the finish, for a score of 1260 points (though the race finish screen showed 1261). Considering the mayhem on the opening laps, I felt really satisfied with this result, especially since it was the first time I had used the Aston in a while.

Manu: Honda was surprisingly good in Tokyo. Won a mid-A lobby for 1588. Still tops for Honda in NA.

Used a double slip stream on the long straight to snatch pole in quali. Managed to break the slipstream of 2nd place to pull a couple second gap. Then conserved fuel as much as possible while still maintaining the gap. The win was never in doubt.

My DR just isnt high enough to get a chance at real points. I think 40k DR is about as good as I'm going to get. Winning Honda would be nice...but the 2 A+ driver still haven't done 3 races yet. So we shall see

Also, I know a lot of people have strong feelings about Tokyo East...but just wanted to point out that the tire wear felt just right for that race

Never say never. I thought the same few months ago as I was always starting near the back in daily races with A/S rating, but you keep improving with mileage. Now I'm nearing the 50k mark. Just need 2-3 good races and I'm in the A+.

Keep driving and you will soon find a way to get better.
