If people want to exact revenge, especially over a long period of time, it just shows how sad and childish humanity is. It is a bit like assuming guilt until innocence is proven.
I identify the mistakes I make, and try to learn from them.
It’s a small community if you play this game enough. Even within a single race you will encounter the same driver more than once. Pass them clean the first time, and when they are on worn tires or a different strategy they’ll be more inclined to let you by as to not slow the both of you down. Make a rough or questionable pass and they’ll be less inclined...multiply that out times hundreds of hours playing and there will be drivers on the track that know you, and know whether you play fair or not. Call it revenge, call it eye for an eye, but you are crafting your own race environment with your etiquette or lack thereof.

Not sure if a pass was clean and fair? Go back and watch it from their POV. Relive the moment from their wheel. Adjust future pass attempts based on insights gained. This applies whether you are the passer or the passee. Before getting angry at someone, check the replay and you might find the driver was bumped into you by someone else.

Exactly. People tend to remember courtesy given and usually return back when necessary.

This is all sounding like a boys club, patting each other on the back, talking about the people who don't want to be in the club. Then, when something happens that they don't like, hiding behind the rulebook that they openly flaunt. A metaphor for the whole of humanity I think.
Will not change me one bit and if people want to shun me for this then rest assured that I will not be worried at all.
I am just here to enjoy the racing and have fun. As I have said previously I would only do this online and not irl as I know that I am not really good. I would never deny a part timer having a go online because they are sloppy or not good at it.
Context is everything ;)

It has nothing to do with being sloppy, it has has to do with you not being willing to apologize to someone for ruining their race, even by accident. That’s just an ignorant way to be, people spent a lot of time trying to improve and be clean and it’s a huge piss off when someone like you comes by and makes a dumbass mistake only to take off after the race with no apology. I’m getting flashes of Dunning Kruger here from reading your replies.

Each driver has responsibility for the behavior of their own car in race.
The absolute biggest ‘tell’ of an idiot is when they hit others then post race exit chat immediately.
Pretty much if I get bashed out of position and the person doesn’t lift or something when there’s a chance then they deserve to get what I will do.

Perspective is everything. You may be having fun, but shunting people through your own mistakes and then ignoring the person you've faulted is not going to leave them having any fun. Someone who refuses to apologize probably shouldn't be discussing the problems of humanity.

What difference does it make if it's online? You do realize it is other people you are messing up, not computers, right?

No one is telling you to not race online. We're saying don't be rude to others who are alsp trying to have fun online.

The hybrid deployment in this game is so stupid. Cars like the Super Formulas can have their boost deployed manually - like in real life - why can't these?

Super Formula, like Formula E and IndyCar, allow "push to pass".

Le Mans Prototypes are only allowed automatic, passive deployment under acceleration in real life So the game emulates this.

The TS050 deployment is pretty close to real life - it's an automated system, that kicks in under pre-programmed conditions, albeit with the driver able to manage duration and power.

Not one person here has said that. The more people who get involved with GTSport the better for everyone.

All I'll say is if I accidentally knock someone off the track or push them wide then I'll slow down, give them the position back and apologise after the race. People remember that action. I've made a very good friend through PSN who did exactly that to me. He clumsily ruined an FIA race for me, and I was furious. The genuine heartfelt apology they gave after the race made the world of difference.

People here are trying to make you realise this. Whether or not you take that on board makes no difference to any of us. We're trying to help.

You're new to this and there is a huge depth of resource at GTP that can help make you a better driver. What you decide to do with that is up to you.

Good luck, have fun, decide what kind of racer you want to be.

I believe the amount of time that the power is deployed is also mandatory, the only control a driver would have would be letting off the throttle to stop the deployment (It's only able to be deployed under full throttle). The power output is also set by the regulations depending on what hybrid class the car is in.

I recall reading that the driver can (or could) turn the wick down in one of the cars to account for elderly tyres, though I can't remember which car it was (I thought the 919) so I can't dig it out right now.

Does anyone know when the next FIA season starts? I know there's the update coming so was hoping there would be a little break to have a bit of a practice with the cars new handling etc before picking a new Manufacturer. It's not starting on the Tuesday/Wednesday after this weekend is it??

25th/26th April. So a full week between the end of this season and the start of the next.

Well don't I look foolish

Am I missing something or does the iRacing version of the R18 not have manually deployed boost?

I'm sure there is some way to manipulate the power deliver through the electrical motors in terms of torque to try and lean out the curve, but the total energy displaced has to be the same I believe.

Did you try to select softs for the rear first? Weird quirk of the game since they patched the hybrid tyre loophole is you need to change the fronts first when in the settings screen
Thanks for the tip, I’ll give it a shot!

You have a great attitude! I want to leave this with you in case you haven't seen it...it has helped me improve quite a bit in my racecraft:

See you on the Track!

I already have it bookmarked and refer to it when I reflect on questionable moves. Thanks,!

since I can't practice before tonight's race at RBR, I'm anxiously awaiting posts regarding what strategy people are using in the higher lobbies.

1-stop, disregarding the softs
2-stop, using softs and meds as long as possible and using hards for just a lap or few
maybe even a 3-stop, 2 stints on softs for as long as possible and using meds & hards as little as possible (I doubt this will be best)

While I think there is a "manual" deployment option in the real-life cars, they do deploy the electrical boost automatically, as do F1 cars (of course the mapping is customizable based on the circuit, unlike the game).

From the videos I've seen, it's like the real car in that it's automatically deployed by default, but you can change some deployment settings and might be able to deploy it manually if you wish.

Trying the first set of races in the TS050.

I'm not expecting great things as Gr.1 simply isn't my category, and I'm inexplicably the #1 seed for the race despite being a lot slower and less high-rated than others...

12th to 8th. Finished 10th but two people had tyre penalties. Also might have been 6th if not for inevitable bin into turn one. Oh well.

Winner of my race did 1 lap on hards, for what it's worth. I also didn't trust either the hard or medium tyre, so I'd say it's definitely worth using the soft for as long as possible.

So in and out to a race in which I didn't really fancy my chances. Was in with someone from here who very much did though in @VulcanSpirit! My one lap pace is decent as it turns out, my qualifying lap(s) weren't! Qualified 15th, started on hards for 4 laps, then mediums to L11 and softs to the end when I was desperate to nick fastest lap (1:15.9) but did three laps in a row where I lost a little time in the final sector and went from purple to just missing out. The cars on hards at the end were sitting ducks to anyone on softs, pulled in over 4s on a late pitter before taking my finishing spot of 8th on the final lap, alas a little mistake on L18 meant I couldn't get past a lap earlier (penalty) and pressurise 7th.

Wasn't expecting much, so I'll take a solid 8th

Softs are 1.5-2s quicker than hards and the degradation isn't bad at all, can quite easily run them for half the race at a better pace than the hard tyre

Tonight was my first ever Nations cup race. I practiced RBR in the TS050 for an hour, then scribbled tyre strategy notes copped from the @Mistah_MCA YouTube guide (thank you!), and qualified a crappy 16th, thanks to traffic and wipeouts right in front of me. Had to entertain work texts right after qualifying, and completely forgot to change tyres, I’d have to wing the strategy...

Started on RS and overshot T1 on lap 3. I stayed on RS for 7 laps. Grip loss was not bad at all. Pitted to switch to RH, forgot to press “No Refuel” and wondered why the pit crew was refuelling. Lost another 3-5 secs in the pits. Stayed out on RH and pitted at the end lap 15, and slapped on RMs, this time remembering to click “no refuel”, came out 12th and just tried to keep it together, aiming for a top 10 finish. Through sheer dumb luck, attrition and people struggling on worn rubber, I gained 2 places in the last lap, with the last overtake on the final corner!! Finished 7th, up 9 places despite all my dumb mistakes.

Man, when this game is good, there’s nothing else like it!

I can't lap Laguna Seca in under 1:31 in my Subaru.
I am doing fairly consistent 1:33-36's. My stratagy I will try is 5 laps on the mediums to start, refule for the end and hards for 5 laps, then softs with no refuel (hopefully). It will depend on traffic at the start. I wanted to be on either medium or soft tires at the start then come home strong at the end!

Its only 15 laps, so you should be able to do 7 laps on soft and 7 on medium and only one on Hard. @Mistah_MCA is doing a great guide with strategy on Youtube. The key is a minimum amount of laps on the hard tires.

Sometimes I have same feeling;)
But... If 5 people telling you that youre drunk, go to bed:) Not apologising for mistakes that ruined someone else race is like been said above ignorant.
"Context is everything" Not thats not truth. "Modern" ethics says such stupid and immoral(?) things. Truth is one and only one. Problem of humanity is that people using that argument for excusing themselves of bad/evil behaviour... Im not saying youre bad or evil:D Im not gonna tell you what is right or not, just have that in mind. And look wider.
Did you read Nitsche? And his conception of superhuman? "Ubermensch"?
