Now the dilemma in the out lap of qualifying is going to be everyone trying to find a drafting partner and not be the one stuck in front.

That will still be a thing, but it won't be as bad. The draft is now weaker, and the main cause of the problem before was everyone would try and burn off as much fuel as possible crossing the start line with the timer as close to zero as possible. This caused massive last corner traffic jams.

With the new system people can start hot laps from the beginning with no detriment. Having a draft will have a small affect, so still preferable but not as critical.

Delighted to see decent races for Nissan in Manu, but I honestly can't believe there are repeats from last season. I'm not one to go in for the melodramatic criticism of PD, but that's really embarrassing.
My bet is that they’re repeating some events as an experiment, since the new update tweaked some things, especially for Sport Mode. I bet they wanna see how things change, with last season being a “control group” of sorts.

But the problem is going to be, especially in the top rooms, the guy leading the pack is suddenly going to ease off on the final corner because he doesn't want to be the guy left without a draft, which is going to mean jams at the last corner and an out lap of everyone playing "No, please, after you."

See the WTCC when their qualifying sessions came down to drafting.

Must say, I'm not a huge fan of two Gr4 and Gr3 races in Nations, was hoping for more varied stuff. I assume the N100 race will end up being de-tuned MX-5s too, right?

It was already like that, with less draft and no fuel weight, I think you will see a lot more people running their own laps and not taking a chance on the draft, in case the guy ahead makes a mistake. 👍

I dig the Nation's combos. Will skip the karts and do everything else.

Manu look like a Nismofest. La Sarthe? Better have a Nissan, F1 or Ford. Most of the GR.4 races may allow the GT-R to be competitive. HOWEVER, if the tyre wear for FF cars are better, GR.4 might be the one to make your points.

Still, I might start off with Ford or McLaren and then switch to Mazda. Again, that RX-V better be worth it.

Either I'm being really dumb or several of those races in both championships are repeats from the last round of ten.

Nations has the kart race, Gr.4 at Nurb GP and Gr.3 at Dragon Trail Seaside, Manu has Gr.4 at Laguna Seca (the same tyre requirements even ffs!).
Not only that, but BOTH championships have Gr. 3 at DTS! Different number of laps, start type, and tire requirements though. Oh boy I can't wait to have to try to guess how to survive the Chicane of Death on 3 different grip levels from different tire compounds in the same race!:nervous:

Also, just like the last stage/preseason, the races I'm looking forward to the most in this stage are the 1st and last rounds of the Nations Cup.

So, that time of the year to unveil my objectives. So, after last season was a short one, having decided to create a new account and drive for my homeland - this one is a season to consolidate:

Nations cup objectives:
Main: Keep my S license - so top10 in Romanian leaderboards
Secondary: top500 in EMEA

Bonus: get back to "A" DR.( Now at 22K DR)

For manufacturers Cup - I chose to stick with Alfa(my last manufacturer on the Austrian account):

My target is getting in top50 in the Alfa Romeo leaderboards and break into top500 in EMEA.

New update brings new bugs.

I set up my usual lobby for the first round of the Manufacturer Series, I fill in the variables and turn off qualifying fuel consumption. I go on the track and ooops, where are the fuel maps? I go back and change it back to how it was before, still no fuel maps. Then I do a track reset and suddenly they appear again.
So now if you want to test with real people, you will have to choose between no fuel testing in practice, or no fuel burning in qualifying.
Correct me if I'm wrong and this is an old bug.

Not sure if there is something wrong with my game or if I missed something but, the new FIA races aren’t showing up on my GTS tab along with the dailys. What am I missing here?

I tested out some of the Gr3 manu races, tire wear doesn't seem to be much of a factor... And I like that.

Now I just need to figure out who to go with.

I think it's everyone. They just announced it, I don't know that they've "posted" it to sport mode yet. Will probably show up tomorrow.

That list is a great help, thanks, especially since the schedule has not been released on the Oceania server yet.
I was thinking of doing a nice easy to read (and print) list like this and posting it as a sticky. Would be a great help for amateur - pro/am drivers that a schedule like this is obviously aimed at. :)
On the am/proam subject and attempts to segregate this racing from the professional drivers, I think it would be great to have a race series specifically for top-end drivers. I would support it as a PSN spectator, like online events shown on TV atm (hint hint Playstation).

Looking at race schedule I think I stay with Jaguar. Both gr3 and gr4 cars suit to my driving style, and are pretty quick at this tracks. I was also considering joining Lexus, but no Jag will be better. Gr3 at la Sarthe? I dont remember if I ever race that combo? And it will be "normal" layout or no chickane version?
Nations round 1? Karts? Big no. When this combo was in exhibition I did 2 races and both were nightmare, since then I just hate karts... So just focus on Suzuka which I really like, hoping to get good result for the begining of new season:) Good luck to you all!

I was all set to change from Nissan, now not so sure! But yes, having a few repeats in there is disappointing. Laguna Seca is identical!! And didn’t we start with Suzuka and RBR last time too? Pleased with La Sarthe as that’s not used much. What about putting in St Croix? Rarely see those combos used.

Well this season, Im going to try and make more of effort on both of these. Usually i rock up with 30 mins practice (bar a few laps of time trial) and then jump into the race (having a rough idea of strategy) and see what happens.
Im going to stick with VW this season... cause you cant beat shredding some front tyres in an FF car :-D
Roll on Saturday

I cannot decide between ford and merc. For the first time I am going to participate in manu regularly. My game has been better. Regularly I get into top 500 and I leveled up my dr level to A. I have never driven both gr4 cars. Anyone could tell me if one of them is horrible. I like mustang very much but I dont want to be stuck with a very bad gr4 car. Because I actually like gr4 races. Thanks for the answers already. Enjoy the new season with less penalties and more success✌

Haven't seen any difference in Fuel consumption during testing so far. Tried Gr4 Mustang and Gr4 VW and Mustang still burnt over 2 laps more of fuel than the VW even with a bit of short shifting after a 4 lap race using BOP. Thought they might have been closer after the update.

Very late with this but highlights from the last round of Nations on Saturday. Race didn't go too well, was in the gravel at the start and clicked do not refuel at my last stop :banghead:
Was a fun combo either way personally just ended up being one of those races

Nations and Manu entry options literally just appeared in sport mode

That's good they are available now, was starting to wonder when they would appear.

Decided I am gonna try my hand at what races I can for this year's season and see how my performances go, I am really liking the Gr 3's/4
following the update as I improved my times compared to my previous best laps yesterday testing and overall feel competitive!

Have yet to make that final call on the manufacturer but I think my love of Toyota is a calling...
