I ran Manu. I qualified P16 and finished P8. Majority of the position climb is from From people making mistakes at T2.

Random: I’ve seen it discussed before: how is it determined who heads out of pit boxes first, when a qualifying session starts?
It doesn’t seem based on DR rank, that seems clear.
I have a theory: based on Free Practice times. I’ve noticed that I’m more often allowed out first when racing my alt, where I likely have a top FP time compared to the field.
Something to think about as the drafting dynamics have changed yet again.
It's amazing how close the competition is even at this late stage in the FIAGTC...
My bobble in the Nations race yesterday, which probably cost me a podium 3rd compared to the nice 5th: cost me the chance to jump up a spot in the Michigan order, keeping me in 8th, while I am digging to get to 6th before it's over (jumping my pal Killroy).
The punting in the Manufacturer's race cost me as many as seven spots in the Porsche driver standings, which I could have gained if I finished in the likely 8th place I could have had by just following @Lewmatic home and taking in the points I'd targeted for that race. Trying to get into top 50 for Porsche by the end of the season.
Both would have been best positions for me in the standings for the season, but as things played out, didn't move up.
You'd think that it would be more or less sorted out after 24 races, but nope... still a lot of points to grab and places to move up to.
Gr.4 @ Brands Hatch - I was considering doing 10H/8M, but what do you think? The tire wear will be slightly less than the race at Blue Moon Bay (5x at BMB vs. 4x at Brands), and I felt like I was able to do half-and-half there more or less fine. Alternatively, I could just do 9H/9M, with the mediums potentially lasting a bit longer given the lower tire wear rate for this round.

Mannnn, flat out at Autopolis! I'm going all out. It's too much fun. I wish the suspension was stiffer, but it's crazy jumping into a Gr.4 at BH, right after running also at Autopolis. I was braking wayyyy early for every corner at BH.I had some possible strategies for the next race in each FIAGTC, and I wanted some feedback:
R32 @ Autopolis - Thinking of no-stopping on hards, especially given the fuel consumption rate. I also don't know if it was just me mis-remembering things, but I vaguely recall the entrance to the pit lane being a bit of a bother, too. Or maybe I'm thinking of another course.

Also, I wanna say that even though I was downgraded after Round 24 for both FIAGTCs, (as they count your best six rounds at this point) and probably lost a few hundred DR at BMB last night, I still definitely had fun. And I'll likely make my DR back in the daily races, anyway - next week's races look genuinely interesting again, and I could use today to get some more DR at Race A, considering my time is in the top 300 for my region.
Nah!! It's reminiscent of the original Gran Turismo. Buy a second hand Skyline, slap the biggest turbo possible on it, use all your remaining credits on the best tyres you can afford then go and race the thing to get the rest of the credits you need to make the car driveable!Mannnn, flat out at Autopolis! Well, it looks like the stupid penalty update actually didn't ruin too many people's races this weekend, which probably means it's here to stay...
Also, with slipstream range now at less than 0.8s (I tried it in Daily Race C, and it seemed like you had to be closer to 0.7s for it to really kick in), and bump-drafting effectively banned, all it's gonna take is a single "big one" (in NASCAR speak) for the Route X race to become a runaway at the front. Also I'm not sure how effective the slingshot will be when you have to be so close to the car in front to even pick up a draft and therefore have no time to build up momentum to shoot past them.
Also, how likely do you think it is that the cars they picked for this race will already be at or near redline at top speed even without the slipstream, making the entire race a 10-wide, 200+ mph parade...

I'm just hoping to get two or three more races done in each championship this series. I'd like my S ranking back so need to get in the top 200. But after missing a month a while back getting my pedals fixed (some races I was really looking forward to too) I've only done six of the races in Nations so far! Probably five of the remaining races that I'm quite looking forward to. Manufacturers has gone really badly and there just doesn't seem much point in the Gr.4 Merc. I'm actually looking forward to the race in the rain at Spa this weekend despite having an FR car for it. I can say that it's very wet! Wetter than the Nations race was last seriesA few thoughts on the remaining FIAGTC races:
Nations
Manufacturers
- the '94 Skyline GTR race at Autopolis seems like it's going to be a fun one, for me. I like the variety and it's like that track was made for that car.
- I also like the idea of the Scirocco Cup race at Suzuka, that's going to be a close one, though and hard fought for every position. I hope the new penalties situation doesn't ruin it.
- There's got to be a catch with the SSRX N800 race, right?!
- Another endurance race at DTS, with high tire wear multiplier in Gr3, a straight fight that I think will reward good drivers. I like it.
- I've heard the GrB races can be fun, and Tsukuba is fun for me, but I've never races in those cars... hmmm
- I love the RB X2019 cars... hope I can make the last round.
- Not counting on a great result at Brands in the Porsche...
- But I am counting on one in the RSR on the wet Spa track!
- If I do get one, it'll be back to Earth right away at RBR in the RSR...
- Strange to have a repeat track/class race from the opening Round in Stage 1 with the Suzuka/Gr4 race... I keep looking at that, thinking, is that right? It'll be tough to repeat my first race's 2nd place this time, I am sure (and it's another endurance race, well over 35 minutes)
- Hope I can do better in my Porsche for the Manufacturers race at Nurburgring, compared to the punting that ruined my Nations race in the Megane there in Stage 1.
- A little bit of a letdown as far as the track for the season-ender, but I don't hate that layout. But I don't know if the RSR will be able to keep up on the long straights, so I hope it doesn't come down to that race, if I need to move up further in the Porsche standings to hit my target!
I think the "catch" to the SSRX N800 race is the one I mentioned above. I hope i'm wrong though. Also, not only is the Suzuka Gr. 4 race a repeat of the very first race, but RBR and Suzuka show up in the reverse order they did at the beginning of the championship (RBR Gr. 3 was right after Suzuka Gr. 4 for Rounds 1 and 2, and now RBR Gr. 3 is right before Suzuka Gr. 4).A few thoughts on the remaining FIAGTC races:

I managed to win the last Gr. B race from pole at Brands Hatch, which is a track I still don't really feel confident around, so I'm hoping for similar success at Tsukuba, which I feel much better driving around. I'd literally never raced Gr. B before that race, so either it was massive beginners luck, or I'm actually good with those cars. I'm hoping that the Gr. 4 Corvette does well at Brands. I actually had a good result last time in the Gr. 3 race. The Soft tires should nullify some of the handling deficiencies it has.Tsukuba group b will be bad.
Brands and Spa I will prolly race but not expecting much in the gr4 vette at Brands.

Ran a few laps with the Skyline around Autopolis country and see how crazy it would be. It is going to be like GT1 or GT2 where you spent all your cash to upgrade the engine and nothing on the brakes! Like trying to drive the 900HP GTO around Grand Valley while saving tires.
Utter carnage. Going to be wild. I almost dont want to qualify for the turn 1 situation.

Yeah I was thinking Suzuka would be a good measure of how much the Gr. 4 Corvette improved with the BoP buff it got. It was absolutely useless everywhere it went and I had to drive the wheels off it to even get 9th place at Suzuka. Right now it actually has my single best points score, so I guess that's a good indicator of how much it's improved, but an "apples to apples" comparison with the same car at the same track would be cool.I didn't notice that! Looking back, I had a decent result there in the 911 (6th) so maybe I should be more optimistic. But I'm racing in tougher lobbies now compared to that first week. I guess if nothing else the repeat track/class races provide a nice measuring stick from the beginning of the season until now. I'd be really happy with a 6th and a 2nd place in those races next week!
