What Madrid Layout to use for Round #1

Wait, actual seasons? That was kept fairly quiet.
We had 3 seasons in GT5 and an Indy Lights feeder series. We're using slightly different specs on the car though, and no longer restrict top gear on ovals now that we have Real slipstream. We used to use CH on ovals, CH and CM on road courses, and CM and CS on street tracks. Had to run 2 compounds at non-ovals. Tyres changed in GT6, with CS having the grip of GT5's CH.

Anyway we're all experienced drivers and we should have good enough race craft not to do a dive bomb up the inside of Turn 1.

All?

I won't be trying any overtakes there unless i'm at least 3/4 of the way alongside - then corner is mine technically.

I would say if you're behind before the braking zone the you should give up the corner but you won't get alongside before that chicane.

That's actual ettiquette, only pass in the braking zone. But people really should have the decency to tell when they can overtake or not.

Before the braking zone, not during, if you aren't ahead by then, give up :) And there are very few people I trust to drive these cars at Madrid with heavy damage, it would take pretty good race craft to pull off and overtake, even with a mistake from the driver ahead.

Exactly why I'm only running the 500.

I've always had a soft spot for oval racing.

I had voted reverse (because I figured no-one else would so I thought I would be "that 1" but because of how this is gone, Madrid Normal takes lead.

Hmm... That could be even tougher, but it does mean the start won't be so packed up as the back markers will still be exiting the chicane, still single file?

Yeah but some Indycar restarts at certain tracks are similar to that.

IndyCar at any street circuit is a patience contest. Whoever has the most patience gets taken out by everyone else :p

14-12 for forward.

I voted for the forward version, much less hassle compared to the reverse version even though the corner after the downhill section and the long left just after it were catching me out. Also the pit lane entrance isn't as difficult as you haven't got the armco barrier in the middle of the track

Motegi is gonna be like 167 laps in a washing machine.

What are we like for teams so far? as I'm looking to join a team at the moment. I'm probably going to miss the rounds at Madrid on 1st June and Motegi on July 6th. Apart from those 2 dates I will be fine. Will there be any dropped scores in this or not?

I was being hopeful wasn't I... nevermind

You where mate, and we are its just after Madrid it seems that non of us could get away from an accident.

I don't think we were all driving poorly, it's just the nature of a track that tight. Once one person goes into the wall, you can be 99% sure somebody will go in with them.

Just set a PB of 40.3 around Indy :)

I remember doing a 39.5 with a tow without the lap from Lancer and another driver with fresh tyres and a half empty fuel tank. Fastest lonely lap was 40.0 with a 3/4 tank.

I did a 40.2 alone, 39.8 in draft.

Mine was full tank, no draft, 5 or so lap old tires.
