What do you expect the Power Pack DLC will cost?

Hopefully price and launch on the PS store tomorrow. Also hoping we can download the data before Thursday as well so it's ready to go first thing (especially with the Spec III needing downloaded too).

Because the low price of the game makes the DLC look very expensive.
How can something with an unknown price seem expensive?

I'm so confused.

Isn't this the exact reason that justifies them not releasing the price in the first place?

My head hurts.

I don't think I've ever known a price of something before it's available for purchase.
Most games - and indeed game DLCs - have prices published weeks before launch.

But again, I'd not expect this one until Tuesday at the earliest because of the BF weekend, and most likely when it launches on Thursday. Maybe there'll be a trailer on Wednesday.

Oh, don't get me wrong, I realise it happens. I just mean in my own personal experience I only find out the price of something when I go to buy it.

They've been doing day -1 trailers for the regular 3-car updates, so 99% there will be one for Spec III and the Power Pack. The GT Sport Lewis Hamilton DLC had its price revealed with the full update reveal after an earlier initial announcement with no price mentioned, so I expect the same to happen this time. I doubt it has anything to do with Black Friday or stuff like that - it's just how PD does things.

The 2015 Driveclub Bikes Expansion DLC cost: $15usd
Horizon Frozen Wilds 2017: $22usd
Horizon Burning Shores 2023: $20usd
Ghost of Tsushima Iki Island: $20usd

I’m not really sure how PlayStation decides on the prices.

PSN might pull a Nintendo move because they know we all will get it no matter what...

Watching SuperGT stream, that race at Suzuka look like what the Power Pack races might be. Choosing the GT500 and PD built race cars.
I had a similar thought. Either that or it's a preview of what Racing Mods could look like if they do bring back the feature.

If they release the price then the price wouldn't be unknown would it. We don't know the price, SEI do. They will likely release the price on the day the DLC drops in the PS store. They will likely not want to release the price during th Black Friday sales regardless since the DLC will not release with a sale discount outside of potentially one that bundles it with the full game.

Sometimes I wonder if that even matters. One time I bought a special addition game for $60 less than the stock standard game. The menus were weird and I ended up buying the more expensive one. I contacted Sony and told them obviously I meant to buy the special addition one with all the dlc. They refunded and I immediately bought the discounted one. So what they do doesn’t make sense.
Why was the standard version at full price and the special one $60 less?!

I'm not going mad.

I think they call this a circular argument.
Well I think he’s saying, I’d the game is currently on sale, especially at a great discount, no matter what the price of the dlc is, it’ll make the dlc look more expensive than it is.

Game $90
DLC $40
vs
Game $40
DLC $40.

Idk. PlayStation store sales and pricing is always all over the map. No rhyme or reason for how some stuff is priced sometimes.

Or maybe it's our friend comprehension again

I think it's arguing from a idea that the DLC will be at least $20

If the game is really 50% off currently, a (at least) $20 DLC will look expensive compared to a $35 game

Good job you noticed or your PS5 would overheat!
I've actually placed my PS5 incorrect upside down horizontally, but it has never overheated. Strange for me that the DVD slot should be closer to the table rather than higher up.
Edit: I reside in a place where part of the year temperature might be above 30 celsius. Then there's a fan in the ceiling blowing the air forcefully so that might help the PS5 from overheating.

I really hope some of the Weekly series we've had make it into the DLC. The JGTC, DTM, Gr C, Civic TCs, the Honda F1 we currently have at Watkins (the Spa race was sublime). With Sophy it'd all be even better.
Did I miss anything else good? I vaguely remember enjoying some one-make races, such as the three Radical races in the early days of weeklies, but most of the others (eg Kangoo etc) pretty forgettable.

No nothing yet Nick.

Consensus seems to be that it'll be on the day it hits the stores.

I was thinking... Why didn't they just merge the SPEC III and Power Pack as one DLC? It's the same release date and they could charge a bit more. From a business perspective, it just seems a bit odd?
Not releasing a track for over a year (and a real track for multiple years) and then making the new ones paid, after years of free updates and whilst splitting the playerbase at the same time is goodwill suicide.
I don't think it'd be a good business move at all.

It would be odd if they'd divide the playerbase through paid cars and tracks after years.

What they are doing now doesn't seem odd to me.

The playerbase will be split regardless because of the gift cars from the DLC.

Can you imagine the (somewhat justified) howls of anguish from those still on PS4 if they didn't get the tracks?
It seems they're using improved Sophy alone as a lever to get people to upgrade their consoles, which is very good business sense (as long as the consensus reached is that Sophy performs well and the DLC races it's used in are worthwhile). Certainly, I expect everyone around here who's still on PS4 to upgrade soon, especially those who howl the loudest about unfairness.
What's oddest to me is why two tracks together now, rather than one now and another next April, say, to make everyone hyped and happy again?...

Edit: Assuming Jordan and Famine are already in the know as to exactly what's coming and have been for some time, bet that article is already written and ready to go. Study any of Famine's recent utterances for cryptic hints.

I don't quite know what "gift cars from the DLC" means, but you've not landed on the point.

Adding tracks that are only accessible to people who've paid means that when these tracks appear in online multiplayer, people who haven't paid can't play - nor can they play any single-player content (races, missions, circuit experiences). This divides the playerbase between those who have paid and those who have not.

PD has consistently avoided this situation in the current era, keeping content consistent. Free updates bring content for all, paid DLCs give additional experiences to those willing to pay.

Indeed the Hamilton DLC also came with some bonus cars which were cosmetic siblings of existing vehicles...
