In the middle of writing this, I just checked, everything's fine, progress is saved, and the Sauber now has 987 ponies instead of the previous 600-something! I guess I'll be able to race normally now!
wow ! that's a stark change !!

1.66 update includes changes to AI behaviour in Power Pack DLC

Friend of mine (French) has completed all the events in the pack, barring the endurances.
We noticed that he is still missing a reward.

I think that might be game-on for a reward for completing them all. Would make up for the payouts!
I have all the rewards, even though I still have 3 races left. I think you have to redeem the roulette tickets so that it triggers in the display.

Same here. The FF-Tuning Section is very strong, especially the 1000hp races.
But in the other sections, like GTI-Section or Porsche, I have no problems and drive miles away

I don't buy the notion that ps4 can't run Sophy 3.0, Sophy 3.0 is just rubber banded, it's not running better racing lines.

PD have made a sensible decision to not double their efforts by supporting updates for a 12 year old console. I think pinning it on Sophy 3.0 is a convenient excuse

From what I saw, Sophy 3.0 is just a marketing label on current AI with a layer of scripting. It is not better than Sophy 2.0 with good settings, and even some events (chili ones come to mind) with regular AI can be better.

I think we’re not nearly knowledgeable enough to make those kinds of claims. None of us really know what’s required to run Sophy 3.0, or what technical or development costs would be involved.

And there’s no reason to believe Sony or PD would lie about this. If supporting PS4 were actually easy, I don’t see why they’d pass on an install base of millions of players. My safe assumption is just that it isn’t as simple as it might look from the outside.

Of course I also don't know what's needed but surely Sophy needs some kind of CPU power and that's where the PS4 already started out weak, even at release. So the performance assumption would seem very reasonable to me.

100%. There would be zero reason to hold it back from PS4 if it was just a label that meant nothing.

I really wish PD knew how to tune their own '73 Porsche. The tune on my personal car is better. The car becomes a murder boat on high speed sweeping turns because they didn't put enough ballast into the rear to stabilize it. And the suspension is so low that kerbs completely unsettle the thing, which is annoying because you have to take corners as tightly as possible to get 1st place with the thing.
Ya, unfortunately, the tunes that shipped with the game aren't as useful anymore, and some never were. The same is true of the BMW CSL. It can be fixed with the race suspension and adjustable diff.

I am having a great time with PP.. It’s not perfect but with some tweaking this can very good in the future.. Some races especially the pepper ones feel like I’m racing a human and I forget it’s AI. Again not perfect I haven’t tried it with the new update, but if they can control the dive bomb better I will be very happy!

Edit: Lap 1! I can’t even get a gap anywhere close to this versus Custom Race Regular AI.

But why are you even trying easy? You're not a newbie, and easy is meant for the newbies. I did some easy events just to blast through them, but easy is not meant for people who know what they are doing.

IMHO, for those comfortable with the game, start at 2 pepper and work backwards.

Let's hope they fixed the bug where the AI surged into the corner (Reggie AI).

Plenty to criticize about the PP, but overall I absolutely love it.

To my surprise the cars are my favorite thing about it. Two of them have made it into my favorites tab.

I'd love to be able to get all of them. So many cool cars in this pack - and we only get to keep 6 of those. (Two of them being rally cars...)

Tuned cars could become a new obsession of mine.

Really hope the format does well and we can get new PPs like every 3-4 months or so.

I am seeing a lot of people saying it’s easy.. then you see the car they are using and it’s the best car in the group.. like huh?

Why do people think Sophy can't run on PS4 when it was built on PS4, maybe it can't support a full field of cars all running Sophy but they could probably have a mix of Sophy and Regualr AI to fill the field.

Training an AI is not running an AI. I find absolutely hilarious people debating an early 2010s cheap tablet CPU being capable of running something like this locally.

This doesn't tell the whole picture.

AI is a processor intensive feature, always has been, always will be. As the processors get more powerful, coders make the AI suck up more power. Graphics also suck up a lot of power.

On the PS5 Pro, If you run a custom race with the cars packed close (like standing starts or minimum distance) and you adjust the graphics for highest quality (instead of higher framerate) you can see the slow down. I imagine that Sophy sucks up just enough power that there is an unacceptable slowdown in many cases on the PS4.

Also, did anyone manage to beat the 2nd civic race using the 87' Civic (2 peppers) ? I think it's virtually impossible to get a win there unless you cut that chicane like crazy.
I'll give it a shot today :D

A big bunch of PS4s as training hasn't got much to do with Sophy running on one of them, is my guess.
Maybe true if training was simulated, but Sophy is trained in real-time running the game just like we do when we play it.

"Training to drive in Gran Turismo takes place in real time, as the game speed cannot be modified. Under this condition, we would need data from multiple instantiations of the game, running in parallel, to be able to provide GT Sophy the experiences relevant to high-speed driving in a reasonable amount of time.

To facilitate training GT Sophy on a large scale, we partnered with Sony Interactive Entertainment and gained access to more than a thousand PlayStation consoles (PS4s) in the cloud. To train a time trial agent, we used 10 PS4s, each running the game with 20 cars in a race evenly spaced around the track."
