Long post alert!
For first time in my life, the itch for an endurance race has been scratched! The 8-hr Spa event was just what I wanted. For those looking to do this event, I suggest reading no further to keep it a suspense how this event evolves. Just enjoy the pics, don't read any text or tire/pitstop details in the pictures.

PD continues to be a master of weather scripting with randomization thrown in. No matter what I do in custom races, nothing comes close to the weather scripting with randomization at the WTC800 Spa 1-hr race. And this 8-hr Spa endurance race was no different.
First half of the race was a standard dry race with green rain clouds looming over the track but with no rain. In the latter half of the race, Sarah became useful for first time ever when she said "rain has begun" even though the radar still showed just green clouds that had been hovering for over an hour. I immediately started paying attention to tire/fuel/power level, and started to look for optimal time to pit. In the dry, the 🌶️🌶️ McLaren F1 needs alternating power level 1 and 2 to stretch the stints to 13 laps from 12, before refueling.
The remaining 3 hours of the race was spent on constantly swapping tires among IM/W/M/S as I had to constantly read the weather radar and quickly react accordingly. I had assumed that since the weather time is not sped up in this race, I will have plenty of time to react to weather but that was not true at all! The constant wind changes kept it a mystery what was coming weather wise. I did end up making a mistake of pitting an extra time unnecessarily when I put on IM seeing that the water level was climbing up, only to see it suddenly stop and fade away fast. The green clouds are unpredictable in terms of whether it means rain or not. Sarah was again useful here for a second time when she declared "it has begun to rain" but unfortunately, that rain stopped too quickly resulting in a wasted pit stop.
For first half of the race, I was constantly battling Drumont's Porsche before I adjusted my pitstops to avoid hurting my lap times by constantly battling him. After that, I was comfortably running in third all the time before rain came down and Sophy was faster than me in the rain. Many people started unlapping themselves from me. The two CLKs went from unlapping themselves to lapping me!

- In this pic, you are witnessing many cars unlapping themselves from me, everyone except the poor Viper -

- In this pic, every tire except for the last one, was swapped out without any significant wear on them -

- That is right. Finishing 5th in 🌶️🌶️ gives you 1.7 million after 8+ hour of endurance racing -

- Huge difference in number of pit stops among different cars. While this list gives an impression that every car is its own class making it a multiclass racing, the race felt like a mix of close racing as well as multiclass racing, with the weather changing the class of many rivals. -

- Somehow I never noticed the mirage effect from exhaust before this event -
I immensely enjoyed this race. I started on a Saturday morning (yesterday) and finished the same night. I took constant breaks to do grocery shopping, cook all three meals, etc which helped me in conserving energy and focus, and avoid crashing in the race. This was the best race of my life.
I am surprised that PD messed up the shorter power pack events but scripted this 8-hr endurance race pretty well! Not once I felt rubberbanding which helped me in regrouping with my rivals for close racing over a dozen pitstops. I loved the constant battles, the lapping battles, taffic management, and then the unlapping battles during the rain.
The only poor scripting was that Sophy's all put on mediums/hards in the final stint instead of softs even though they put in correct amount of fuel in the final stint. In addition, Serrano made a weird choice by pitting at end of lap 1, which likely costed him the victory. I say likely as I am not sure because the rain brought cars closer and neutralized the gaps for many.
The names above the cars were a huge issue at Eau Rouge as they blotted out visibility for me. I hit some cars from behind pretty hard due to this but luckily no one spun out. They were also constantly hampering my vision when racing in the rain among a tight pack of cars.
The race replay is 2.1GB in size! You do have to click on "next lap" 200 times if you want to go to lap 200 in the replay.
Overall, this race felt very well designed and felt like made for me. I hope that in GT8, PD can add more cars and make multiclass races so that this already slightly-chaotic race is even more chaotic.

- Five cars here are on four different laps! I was racing so hard to delay being lapped for 4th time from the yellow McLaren Longtail while also getting ready to lap the other McLaren Shorttail ahead who, in turn, were about to lap other cars. And ultimately, the yellow McLaren was getting ready to lap everyone. Lapception. -

- Sorry I can't keep track of which cars were on which laps while they were unlapping themselves from me -
