That rally race with the Beetle can go directly to hell.
I just had a blast in that one.

I spent 20 laps in practice because I wasn't used to that layout, and of course the Beetle.

I used the 2-chili rig and was able to pull out lap times in the 34s which put me on pole and after a quick battle with second place I pulled away to win by ten or so seconds.

You have to maintain your momentum with the little Beetle, and it's tricky at first, so practice a bunch until you find the flow of it.

------------------------------------------------

I see a bunch of people arguing about difficulty. I never got a chance to play the Pack prior to the update, but I've done two of the Civic races, two American Tuned, Tuned FF, the Euros at Eiger, and the first Beetle Rally, all two-pepper, and I've taken fastest-lap/pole/first-place each time.

I'm having a great time with them, but was hoping for more of a challenge. I wish I would have tried them prior to the update. The AI cars keep me on my toes, but I'm still just walking away from the pack in every race.

In the case of the tuned Elantra, Mach 40, and the Fiat they're all tuned so well that they're super easy to drive on the limit. The Civic on the other hand was tuned pretty poorly and super prone to understeer which was dissapointing.

I'm looking forward to the rest of the races, and I'm loving the format and grid starts, but hope that the difficulty increases.

Tried the two Vette! races, and the Euro Old Timers race at NurbGP this morning, all one-chilli, and, sorry, but WAY too easy. I shouldn't be qualifying seconds ahead, then pulling away to win by 20-odd-sec margins in any chilli race.
It's like a simple extension of the base game now, it appears. No chilli=easy, one chilli=normal, two chillis=hard. If, like me, you routinely play the base game on hard, the PP has become a lot easier than it was last week.
It is what it is, but exactly one week ago, if you'd told me this Sunday I'd be choosing to do Race Weekend mode on PMR rather than spending the day on the PP I'd have genuinely guffawed in your face.

Yeah, I’ve dipped back in PMR a couple times. Didn’t think I would for a long while.
Anyway, not upset about the PP at all. I feel I essentially paid $45AUD for 5,000,000 Cr., all the alternate colors of the six gift cars and what I’m personally describing as a year’s worth of Weekly Challenges. That’s if I did one race per week.

I'm not upset, just disappointed. Some will be happy with what they've done, I get that, but for me personally, they've taken away what was shaping up to be a nice challenge. If they'd waited until the New Year before nerfing it I'd at least have had one challenging playthrough...

I tested some Power Pack races last night. Fortunately difficulty nerf didn’t affect me much. It seems more balanced for me now. No pepper race is really easy but one pepper seems to be a challenge with possibilities of win. Still loves the idea of this pack and it is real fun.

After the bugfix patch, I now get Sarahs introduction every time I restart the game 🤦
Every single time I get the explanation of what the power pack is, and when I select a race, another explanation of practice, qualifying, and the race itself...
As if going through it once wasn't already annoying enough.

Two hours conveniently brought me to 40 laps completed. Chose the Sauber C9 because an extra 2,000,000cr sounds pretty sweet.

Doing well so far. When I quit I had almost a minute lead over Drumont, which unfortunately will be erased upon resuming. But I'll have a fresh set of Softs and half a tank of fuel.

No rain so far, but the sun is slowly beginning to set. Everyone up to 11th is one lap down. From what i've witnessed, the 962C is easily the class of the field. It probably helps too that all 3 cars you can choose are tuned to the max of 987HP, and the 962C has significantly better aero due to being the Nurburgring/Daytona package. They can put their power down much easier at the cost of slightly higher tire wear. Of the 7 or so that are in this race, 5 of them qualified in the top 10. I did end up streaming the first 2 hours on my YouTube channel, which you can find here:

Why did they nerf this so bad? Catalunya Old timers event, starting from the back. By the middle of lap 2 I was in first. This was using the two pepper car.

I don't see any difference between regular AI and this.

I've done 31 events so far, and the only ones that gave a nice challenge were the Civic events. The 70s Hakosuka were alright too.

Tried the GT One at Red Bull and it was as easy as Catalunya. Very disappointing and frustrating..

Repeating an earlier post, Old Timers at Nurb is BROKEN. You can start with IM and never stop. The AI stops twice. I actually expect this one to get patched because it's such an obvious exploit. This is currently a free 2 chili race.

Also, rather than complain 1 chili is "way too easy", just play 2 chili - Problem solved. You even get ore money for it.

The big change is tire grip. With the Civic races, you can really feel the SH tires grip now. At the Tokyo race, I can rip around like I'm on RH tires. I actually checked the HUD a few times to check if it was SH rather than RH. It's arguable whether it's too much grip, because you still have to focus to get that win. Then there's the 500hp battles and those SS tires feel like CH...

1. Stop SHOUTING all the time.
2. Who says it's broken? PD? You?
3. Nobody stopped at all, let alone twice, just a normal race on RH start to finish, track was damp at start but no discernable slippiness, just a straightforward flat out race, Gallo in the blue 155 stuck his nose in a few times for first 3 or 4 corners, then I was on my own to the flag. Boring.

Nah. I'd like to try all the cars and I'd like my money's worth. The one-chillis were challenging for me until the update and many of the two-chillis were a real, real challenge. Now the former are easy and the latter are like the former were originally, just hard rathervthan really hard. So 50% of the races that were challenging for me have been taken away at a stroke, without warning or explanation. They could've at least given us a couple more weeks to play through it as it was. It wasn't broken before the update.

Haha, I totally get it. I really wish there were like 100 events — most of these races are honestly great. The menus, rewards, presentation, even the liveries all feel polished and thoughtful. They’ve got that premium, “craft coffee” kind of vibe.

Road cars are genuinely fun to drive too. If there were more car choices and more freedom with difficulty and challenges, I’d happily come back every day for another “cup” — and make some decent credits along the way.

I do believe PD will keep updating and improving the game, but I can’t help feeling a little worried that the pack might not sell as well as they hope.

Long post alert!

For first time in my life, the itch for an endurance race has been scratched! The 8-hr Spa event was just what I wanted. For those looking to do this event, I suggest reading no further to keep it a suspense how this event evolves. Just enjoy the pics, don't read any text or tire/pitstop details in the pictures.

The following contents contain -SPOILERS- for the 8-hr Spa race!

PD continues to be a master of weather scripting with randomization thrown in. No matter what I do in custom races, nothing comes close to the weather scripting with randomization at the WTC800 Spa 1-hr race. And this 8-hr Spa endurance race was no different.

First half of the race was a standard dry race with green rain clouds looming over the track but with no rain. In the latter half of the race, Sarah became useful for first time ever when she said "rain has begun" even though the radar still showed just green clouds that had been hovering for over an hour. I immediately started paying attention to tire/fuel/power level, and started to look for optimal time to pit. In the dry, the 🌶️🌶️ McLaren F1 needs alternating power level 1 and 2 to stretch the stints to 13 laps from 12, before refueling.

The remaining 3 hours of the race was spent on constantly swapping tires among IM/W/M/S as I had to constantly read the weather radar and quickly react accordingly. I had assumed that since the weather time is not sped up in this race, I will have plenty of time to react to weather but that was not true at all! The constant wind changes kept it a mystery what was coming weather wise. I did end up making a mistake of pitting an extra time unnecessarily when I put on IM seeing that the water level was climbing up, only to see it suddenly stop and fade away fast. The green clouds are unpredictable in terms of whether it means rain or not. Sarah was again useful here for a second time when she declared "it has begun to rain" but unfortunately, that rain stopped too quickly resulting in a wasted pit stop.

For first half of the race, I was constantly battling Drumont's Porsche before I adjusted my pitstops to avoid hurting my lap times by constantly battling him. After that, I was comfortably running in third all the time before rain came down and Sophy was faster than me in the rain. Many people started unlapping themselves from me. The two CLKs went from unlapping themselves to lapping me!

I immensely enjoyed this race. I started on a Saturday morning (yesterday) and finished the same night. I took constant breaks to do grocery shopping, cook all three meals, etc which helped me in conserving energy and focus, and avoid crashing in the race. This was the best race of my life.

I am surprised that PD messed up the shorter power pack events but scripted this 8-hr endurance race pretty well! Not once I felt rubberbanding which helped me in regrouping with my rivals for close racing over a dozen pitstops. I loved the constant battles, the lapping battles, taffic management, and then the unlapping battles during the rain.

The only poor scripting was that Sophy's all put on mediums/hards in the final stint instead of softs even though they put in correct amount of fuel in the final stint. In addition, Serrano made a weird choice by pitting at end of lap 1, which likely costed him the victory. I say likely as I am not sure because the rain brought cars closer and neutralized the gaps for many.

The names above the cars were a huge issue at Eau Rouge as they blotted out visibility for me. I hit some cars from behind pretty hard due to this but luckily no one spun out. They were also constantly hampering my vision when racing in the rain among a tight pack of cars.

The race replay is 2.1GB in size! You do have to click on "next lap" 200 times if you want to go to lap 200 in the replay.

Overall, this race felt very well designed and felt like made for me. I hope that in GT8, PD can add more cars and make multiclass races so that this already slightly-chaotic race is even more chaotic.

Today I did GT300 and GT500 at Fuji with no pepper cars. Took pole easily each time and race where pretty uneventful, escaped quickly from AIs and only saw them again when I began lapping the last ones. 24s lead at the end of GT500 race.

Will need to revisit those with 1 or 2 pepper car later. If they don't patch again.

Can't wait to do the lonnnng races, but worried I might never get to fit them in with the way life tends to get in the way.
Great report though, good to see somebody really enjoying it, even if it's not me (yet). Hope they don't nerf it before I can find the time...

Are there any races where we can use the Ferrari 296 GT3 as one or two peppers?

I haven't raced much so far, about eight races, and I'm looking forward to using this car at a higher difficulty level.

I raced on Easy Mode with the 296 GT3 at Nurburgring... A race that, after the patch, was reduced to two laps. :indiff:
Someone?

From what I can see, GT3 cars are only used in 4 events. The drafting battles don't give the 296 as an option; which leaves the 2 Nurburgring races. I haven't done the Nurburgring races yet, so I don't have evidence or anything.
However, it seems that the 3 cars it lets you select keep their respective difficulties (ex. the NSX is the 2 pepper car on all 3 GT500 races). As far as I can tell, this is true for all the different events.
So basically if the Ferrari 296 was the no pepper (easy) car for one race, I'm pretty sure that means it will be the no pepper car for other races also.

Someone here seems to have seen it in the PP:

https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/thre...cars-new-features.434099/reply?quote=14545874

I'm not sure if I've done that race yet, I suspect it's the Gr3 one, last on the Nurb strand, in which case I haven't.
That was the same Nurb race dimassa19 is talking about. It was just a non pepper 2 lap. I don’t think it will have a pepper in a different race if didn’t have one in another. If that’s how PD seem to have assigned the cars.

Oh yeah of course, doh!, it's Sunday night, I've had a few too many...

Exaggerated fuel and tyres have no place in a full length endurance race. Change my mind.
Aren't they all 1:1? I know Le Mans Group C is Nurburgring 24 GT3 are both 1:1. I haven't finished unlocking Spa or Suzuki mostly b/c I hate the trees they belong to and would rather gouge my eyes out than race Fuji any more times than absolutely necessary in my life.

So, it sounds like Sophy behaves the same no matter which car you use.

PD nerfed Sophy so that the lower level drivers, who would pick the zero-chili car, would have a better chance at winning.

Because of this, the higher level drivers, who would pick the two-chili car, are having an easier time than they'd like.

Seems like, instead of messing with Sophy, PD should've just made the zero-chili cars faster.
In my opinion, that's not the case.

I don't know which race it was, I think in the American Series.
I tried the one-chili car and drove a high 1.31, which was P3. P1 & P2 drove a low 1.30.

So I decided to drive the easy car and drove a low 1.29, but P2 drove a high 1.32.
So in this case, I could had a chance with the one-chili-car.

But when I drove it, Sophy was faster than me, so I had no chance.

2. Who says it's broken? PD? You?
It's start with rain (most of the time) and enough water for IM tires. The AI starts on RH, pit at the end of lap 1, and pit again at the end of lap 5.

It's a six lap race.

You think that's normal? You think that was the plan? "Hey, let's spot the player 1 minute in a 6 lap race and label it hard. Brilliant!"

Want to know who says something is broken? The people who notice it's broken.

No, in the 6 hour Suzuka race the fuel and tires are 2X. IIRC, it's also 2X for the 8 hours of Spa.

Will need to revisit those with 1 or 2 pepper car later. If they don't patch again.
First time through, I gauged the difficulty with 2 pepper and then picked the level that I figured I could win first time out. Now, I'm going back through to 2 pepper everything. I've got the Purple and Orange done so far.

I might never do the endurance races, unless someone gets 1000 stars and unlocks something cool. I started Suzuka and Spa, but I don't really have the drive to finish them, at least not quickly. I still hold to GT8 coming for the 30th anniversary year so that gives me all of 2026 and then some to chip away at them.

Thanks for the update. I love Spa but not enough to deal with the tree to get there and not enough to want to drive any of the 3 options for 8 hours. I'll stick with Le Mans, Nurbs, and then go back to customs for actual fun and legitimate endurance racing since PD clearly can't provide that.

Their lap times vary independently of the car you choose. I've seen the AI getting around 1 sec slower randomly. They usually get around the same lat times in qualifying, but every so often they will have a slower run.
