What do you expect the Power Pack DLC will cost?

Aren't all the Powerpack cars reproducible in the normal game, with the correct tunning and setup?
Not all. Especially not the 911 Turbo Rally and Beetle Desert Racer. Not sure the GR.3 Mustang can get the same Power as the AR '15 without a turbo. Haven't tried the Skyline yet, but it's not going to have the GP-Tuned fuel tank or the physics of the racing suspension.

The Levin is the closest we'd get to replicate, but the widebody is too different.

This Power Pack is such a great idea, full of stupid things.

- The AI is just awful. Fake power/speed. Lap times varying by huge amounts between Qual/Race. This is not what racing is! This is not fun. It's just fake.

- The tutorials at EVERY event. I know what Qualifying is!

- No leave the pits to start a fast lap. 7 minutes just to start a qual lap on the Nordschliefe, for a 1-lap race at that! Qualifying lasts longer than the race! Who is play-testing this!?

- Having to see the whole field before every event. Why!?

I will not die on a hill over this and I can be subject to being wrong. The closest thing would be the GAC maverick but it lacks the external radiator in the front bumber.
Sadly no record yes the matter would be solved and no other reports around of people winning those cars in the roulette.
But I remain as to know myself what I saw then
I honestly wouldn't have any reason to not believe you as the roulette is filled with things you can't get - but the car doesn't come in plain white, it only comes with highlights.

To my knowledge there's no other example of a car in the roulette being in a unique colour so I don't see why this would be any different. I think that alone makes it more likely to be mistaken identity than anything else.

For those looking for a competitive Sophy, straight up, no fluff, use the "One Make" feature in the custom races. Just a buy a car, leave it unmodified, and go to a track that supports Sophy.

When setting up the race, choose "One make" for the competition and turn the boost to "weak". This will make Sophy your pace or better. (I will put video examples below). Don't worry about the difficulty level of the competition. It doesn't change anything.

"O" button will cancel out of it. You may know, but the 10 year old that gets this for Christmas might not.

The community asked for qualifying to return for DECADES. This is an example of be careful what you wish for.
- Having to see the whole field before every event. Why!?
To emulate the GTWS events, because that's exactly what happens in a GTWS event.

Anyway, for those who haven't tried this yet, and I suspect it's a huge majority of this forum, go use Sophy in the custom races. You can get really complicated if you like (see custom race thread) but the One Make is a lot of quick and dirty fun (sometimes literally). You can, of course, tune your car but don't complain that it's easy when you've buffed yourself.

Here's 3 laps with the Civic Touring Car that is currently in the UCD

And 3 laps with the 3.0 CSL, again, in the UCD (BTW, I'm in the red car)

Start where ever you like, even first. Sophy will make it fun.

I have unlocked the Spa 8hr race :)

Does anyone have any advice please? I assume it will rain at some point.

I will be doing the race in sections, how does this work? I have read that you save the game but the game doesn't save the time gaps, but does the positions, so I was thinking of saving the lap before I am going to put for tires/fuel what is the advice for saving?

It is a possible bug because when I jumped into my Skyline, it took a moment for the livery (like you have pictured) to load up. This means that, unlike the vast majority of the cars in the game, the Power Pack Skyline is wearing a livery similar to what we can make in the editor.

The actual base livery is an off white colour. There's a few bugs in the game that cause a livery to not load correctly, so the OP might have encountered a bug where this car appeared, but it was missing it's livery. Given that it is in everyone's game data, everyone technically has it whether they buy the Power Pack or not. That said, we all know that the roulette prizes are preselected, so it's extremely unlikely that anyone could win this car from the roulette.

Pole time will be in the 2.10 region, so you may want to try qualifying with each of the cars to see where your pace stacks up.

I think it's a case of having Medium Tyres and running Fuel Map 1 for as long as you can. You'll need to extract the pace in the car as much as you can, as you may not be as quick when the rain does come.

Also, there may be a weird bug when using the race resume feature, where the competition decides to pit every lap and only refuel 5 litres. This may have been fixed in the latest patch.

"A great idea full of stupid things" could be the definition for anything that PD creates.

I'm about 2 hours from completing Le Mans Group C 24 and I'll do a full write-up of times and whatnot but overall my impression of the AI is bad. Like gut feeling "bad" doing the regular Power Point races but because they're short and you change tracks pretty often with different brake zones and whatnot and different lines it's hard to really dial in an impression of the AI.

22 hours of Le Mans later I can conclusively say the AI is on rails just like the base game AI is on rails. The only place I have ever seen the AI try to make a move at Le Mans was on the run between Arnage and the Porsche Curves. On the Mulsanne if you stay behind them they weave in the exact same pattern every time. If there's another AI car in the spot they "need" to weave into both AI cars start vibrating.

The AI brakes down to unreasonably slow speeds entering corners and sometimes through them and doesn't accelerate smoothly through the corners either. Instead they functionally brake, coast at the brake down to speed, and on corner exit apply more throttle more accurately than a human hopes to be able to. The code literally cheats them to be faster on the straights.

I guess it could be that my car, regardless of choice, is downtuned compared to the AI. That's possible. If I take the Porsche my top speed is 235. The AI Porsche can run 240.
The top speed of the Nissan is 231. The AI can run 235. The AI dive bombs into corners almost like it's teleporting. I start to brake for Mulsanne corner 1 white line before the right hand kink. The AI starts 2 white lines back and then suddenly surges forward before abruptly stopping at the corner and then accelerating out unreasonably fast.

It has zero clue how to corner with any kind of actual speed. They make 100% of their time on the straights.
The AI also makes garbage decisions for tire compound even when there is no rain or threat of rain.

They'll take Softs, run a half fuel stint, and then come in for new tires. They'll take HARDS?! Mediums last an entire fuel stint regardless of how hard to rag on them. There's zero reasons ever to take HARD tires and yet the AI does that about 1/3 of the time. There is zero concept of race craft from them either. No strategy at all.

I enter the Dunlop Chicane complex at 65 mph, the AI enters at 55. I cruise through the complex and exit about 70-75 mph, the AI exits at 55. Suddenly about 15-20 feet past the exit they hit the Turbo button and surge ahead of me even though I exited faster, carried more speed, started my acceleration earlier, and by all definitions of physics that I'm aware of should be pulling away.

Sophy 3.0 is 100% a step backwards from what currently exists. I can build a better, more exciting, more interesting, and more challenging custom race using Sophy 2 than I get from their PAID downloadable content.

I think the worst part though is the way PD lied to us all. I mean yeah corporations are all greedy and all suck and it hurts to realize your favorite racing game company is no different. I won't be buying another one that's for sure and if Sophy 3.0 is the promised AI in GT8 I won't be buying that either.

Played a good few more Power Pack races tonight and one thing that really grates that I’m not sure I’ve seen mentioned is the lack of tyre wear and fuel consumption in some races. For a “true racing experience” it’s baffling that every race doesn’t feature wear or depletion, even if it’s at the lowest rate. If memory serves, even GT4 had wear and fuel depletion in every race.

IIRC you need to first specify in "options" that the button do this (exit from entire message stream as opposed to simply skipping to the next, which the X button does as well of course).
I didnt know about specifying that particular option to`O`button.I was just spamming the`X`button.lol

To add,in the controller options/binding I dont see any option to`exit message stream`.Is this a wheel thing only?
Also, regarding the chilli races, are the drivers more aggressive with faster qualifying times,or just slower cars? Ive only dabbled with the lowest setting so far,not had a lot of time to really experiment with other mode, what with work and familly stuff.

I don't remember what race it was, but during practice and qualify the game didn't detect the clutch, while in race it did detect it and was needed to change gears (as it should be).

Many times the clutch is not needed (nor detected) to change gears where it should be, like for the Porsche Carrera '73

Bought DLC this morning:

First started American Muscle at Laguna Seca. I had pole and started well, but one little mistake and I spun. Came to 8th and finished on that far place.

There are some fast, but too man very slow cars that don't wanna get out of way...

So I've put a few hours in on the PowerPack now, and here are my thoughts.

Overall, it's a fun excursion, despite a few annoyances that others have mentioned here. I really like the concept of pre-tuned cars for the different races.

The way the AI are much more aggressive now and act more like normal racers is a big improvement (although sometimes the artificially seem to come out of nowhere).

I'm very much in agreement with others in that I don't like the fact that the two-chili pepper races have less powerful cars as a means of giving you a handicap. There are several things wrong with this approach to making a more challenging event, not the least of which is the handicap will vary based on the track

It would be nice to try the events with all three cars and just have an AI field that matches with the strength of whatever car you choose.

The challenge for PD will always be how to make the event challenging across the spectrum of racing skills of the players.

IMO, the system that ACC uses is by far the best, and it has baffled me for years why PD hasn't implemented something like this. GT7 would have been a perfect time to do so. There is a setting for AI strength where you can set it at 85% or 95%, or 100%, etc. to match YOUR skill level. Most players will want "just enough" of a challenge that the race isn't boring but they can still win :)

Just doing that would solve 95% of the gripes I've read about the PP.

I'm at a level where I seem to be able to get to about 2nd or 3rd consistently in the two chili races, so I would love to be able to dial the AI strength back to something like 97% :)

Yesterday I managed to win the 8 Hours of Spa on two 🌶🌶 with my Hardcore Ruleset (No driving assists, Cockpit cam + I now added no Savestates)

It's been such a more enjoyable challenge than Suzuka, thanks to your '95 F1 GTR being only gated by grip and consumptions (rather than losing 1 second each straight like it was with the NSX)
It also seems like Sophy makes better strategies if you don't Savestate during the race, with Josete putting Softs only once and Coque putting Hards twice.
But that's all I needed to secure the win by 50 seconds (celebration-net gap)
Now, about those 24 Hours.....

If I didn't say if I think the PP was worth paying for or not earlier in the thread, Imma gonna do it now, I don't bother reading all my other posts to check if I already did; while the Power Pack lacks customization, it's not too difficult using the easiest car. Which for me is very important. I've always never got gold in online time trials, so for me the difficulty level in the PP is OK. The PP is an official single player campaign of what should be possible with custom races, but GT7 doesn't allow custom championships yet.
And driving along the AI Sophy cars sometimes a few seconds behind, other times a few seconds ahead, is an entertaining learning process which don't happen in the weekly challenges, or in the events with most payout for those of us who still lacks 3-4 $20 million dollar cars..!!
So by the mentioned criteria of a single player gamer who is very far from being semi-rich, I don't regret a second paying for it. But also important, it is NOT too cheap!

Did you do all races ? for me difficulty varies a lot. Sometimes I walk over the race with one full lap of practice + one full lap of quali, other times I can't win or get podium (all races I did so far with the easiest car). So it is not easy to know which car to chose.

I agree with @equalitus , I am not the best in this either, I do good enough to win but its not as easy as others may have said.
I have three accounts and I am taking the PP races slowly and not burning through them, I have not even started it on my main account.

So far this is how far I am in, I had to repeat my races at Autopolis as that is my hardest track to do any good at no matter how much I practice. I've only been able to bronze the CE there...
I fully love this new stage of play and Sophy 3.0 is giving me lessons on how to better my play.
It is worth the 30 I paid...

I did 21 of 50 on the account that I've raced the most. I can imagine that the last races are much more difficult.

Here's a take: PD threw 5 million credits in so that we can't do charge backs when we discover the PP is full of lies and scripted "on rails" AI

Edit: this isn't how endurance works either. Nobody should have taken a flag yet because I haven't taken the flag yet.

But since both of them pitted with less than a minute to go the game just says "ok you're done"

Edit 2, final stats:

8071.webp

I'm glad it's done. I'll never play it again. I will however continue to build custom Group C 24 hrs and race those. At least there i know I won't have the race win locked in by hour 4.

We've all been there mate.

I've no idea what the setting's called so I described the functionality thusly:
IIRC you need to first specify in "options" that the button do this (exit from entire message stream as opposed to simply skipping to the next, which the X button does as well of course).
If you look around in the options menu you'll find it, and no, it's got nothing to do with wheel settings.
Also, regarding the chilli races, are the drivers more aggressive with faster qualifying times,or just slower cars? Ive only dabbled with the lowest setting so far,not had a lot of time to really experiment with other mode, what with work and familly stuff.
If you're talking about the Power Pack races, no, they're the same pace, but you OTOH have to choose between 3 cars - "easy", harder and hardest (0, 1 & 2 chillies).

You've got to open the GT Menu/Options on the top left via the main screen/world map. There you see under...

Sorry for the late response. Just shut off the game.

The "mid race save" is intended as a protection against something shutting the game off while you are mid race.

Also, after reading through the newer comments, I hope two things happen.

1 - I hope more people actually take the time to make custom races, so they can see what Sophy is capable of when set up correctly.
2 - PD makes MOST of the GT8 single player events more like the custom races that we are enjoying, so people stop complaining about the AI.

I will admit that PD took a bad direction for the Power Pack, as it doesn't showcase Sophy in the best light. I'm hoping they avoid cobbling together events and take the time to make them interesting. It's extra upsetting once you realize how easy it would be.

Yeah, it's not actually a mid race save it's a "PD rightfully realized that without an OMG button players losing their endurance race progress is really really bad"

Bought the pp today and only few races into it, but started to think, would it be possible to do the endurance races using the shareplay feature?

So either I could help my friend complete their races, or they could help me

Has anyone tried it yet?
