That's because PD won't let us players decide the BHP or power/weight ratio or tires AI Sophy uses. While the coding & core function of Sophy might be impossible to tune from say 70% of full speed to 100% full speed, but the other parameters can easily be changed, like hp, weight & tires. But PD won't let us.
What do you mean? Isn't that literally what the custom races (using cars from your own garage) are? (with the bug that it reverts to stock tyres for road tyres instead of using the ones from your garage)

Finally, managed to get a win in the 120% car at Spa 8H endurance race!
Luckily, it didn't rain once - Serrano and Lopez in the rain are so quick compared to me (and fuel with them on the rain is better).
11 Laps stints on softs until the final one (mediums, full tank, zero risks haha)
- Probably without rain i could win doing all stints on mediums - 15 lap stints -, but resolved to go full speed from the start!

A race that i will never touch again!

P.S: Man of culture, doing my best lap in the right number, haha

Hey i have a question-how much money do you get if you win? I’m doing that race right now with the clk

The AI at Le Mans is 100% scripted on the Mulsanne at Le Mans in the Group C Endurance. You were occupying the area of track the AI is "supposed" to be on at that point on the road and they were going to move there come hell or high water.
That's not a scripted behaviour, it's a behaviour that has been developed via machine learning.

I had a tonne of fun in the Supra with the 500-Horsepower Tuning Battle at Trial Mountain.

So far in the Power Pack the best wheel-to-wheel racing for most of the race. The key imo is to always aim for the Clean Race Bonus. I've found for the most part if you stay clean the Sophy drivers stay clean.
Some are overly aggressive and some will yield too quickly. But overall I get a real buzz when I get a win and CRB with the 🌶️🌶️ cars. Very rewarding.

Emojis aside, I think Sophy 2.0 is mostly great. PP’s Sophy 3.0 isn’t worth the version number and, for me, is notably worse.
We don't actually know what constitutes 3.0 compared to 2. The PP is obviously not set up to be as challenging as Sophy+Weak-Boost. If we're looking to see the differences, we need to look at the more subtle aspects. Like dirt driving or like situational tire choice.

In the Spa race (1 pepper) you may see certain cars pull into the pits and swap to a softer compound to increase pace. It doesn't work well because it only makes the Sophy cars as fast as your own car.

They really need to turn up the pace for Sophy and let the chips fall where they may. And that said, I've been testing Sophy+Boost with different tire choices (on my car) and it does go somewhat faster or slower based on my pace. It really appears they turned Sophy's capabilities down for the PP and they generally took a bad direction with the approach to difficulty.

Or maybe the driver got sleepy, it's N24 after all.

For realism purpose
it was getting dark :D

Functionally zero difference yeah? If all the cars behave exactly the same (and they do) then there's zero difference between "I learned to do this" and "I was told Do This".

I've done about 10 races so far. I'm enjoying the competition trying to win all of them with two chilis.

A couple were fairly easy, but most I have to really practice to improve my lap times a second or two.

i'm still struggling with the one-lap race at the Nordschleife where the two chili car is the BMW M4 '14. I always thought I was pretty good on the Ring, but the fastest lap I can turn is low 7:18s, but the AI are doing 7:15s, so not sure how I'll ever beat this race on 2 chilis.

I wish the PP would allow us to use ghosts and other tools in the Practice mode so that we could improve our lap times. As far as I know, we can't do Time Trials with these exact tunes back in the main game mode.

This was the second most challenging I've run so far. I would always qualify first by about .75 seconds, but I just can't get the hang of the standing start, especially with this Supra, and I would always wind up 3rd or 4th coming out of turn 1. I have also found that the AI are extra aggressive with the corners and "outperform themselves". Finally I was able to get the lead on lap 1 and never relinquish it, but it took many tries. That Supra really took getting used to because of the massive torque and extra wheel spin.

Yes I'm still getting swallowed up at the start with no TCS. My throttle control for stop starts is terrible. So I just keep practicing for better lap times so I can catch up later on. Makes for some fun and challenging racing though.

I've been trying to play nice with it, unlike the players online the computer knows my name, address and credit card number, I want it on friendly terms!
I've been doing this with all the Sophy Quick Races from the beginning. For the most part it works. Some are overly aggressive but after a few repeats you work out who to keep an eye on and anticipate the bold moves.

Whereas I want the robots to understand on a deep and fundamental level that given the opportunity I am going to hit them. :D
I guess the Three Laws of Robots do not apply here...

A robot may not injure a human being or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm.
A robot must obey orders given it by human beings except where such orders would conflict with the First Law.
A robot must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Law.

TCS1 for the starts is a must

Unless the driver's name is Demerzel

I made a complete mess of things last night, despite starting on the front row for all 4 of my races. For the Porsche event on Dragon Trail Seaside, I chose the Carrera RS and started second, but I got destroyed off the line and proceeded to crash within 30 seconds. i dropped down to last place and only recovered to 6th. The Carrera RS is sketchy over the big ripple strips. A smiliar thing happened to me on Sardegna in the European Oldtimers race. I started first in the BMW M3, got destroyed off the line, overshot some corners and fell down the order. I think I fell to 8th or something but nevertheless I clawed myself back up to 4th without too much trouble... until I crashed after bumping Hizal in the fast downhill section. Idiot. I ended up 4th. Fortunately on Catalunya, I won easily because the AI were just trash. Next race I did was GT ONE in the '95 McLaren F1 GT-R on the Red Bull Ring, and I started first yet again. I led the first 2 laps but shortly after that I crashed exiting turn 1 and lost a bunch of spots. Once again I worked my way up the order just to crash again exiting turn 4 on lap 10. That ruined my run, destroying all my positive momentum. What a failure. I wasn't thinking straight the whole night... most likely due to not drinking enough water. I am stupid.

Nah, you're not stupid, it happens to even the best of us.

I've been in the Power Pack since day one and drive on two accounts. Basically, I enjoy the races. But what I don't understand is how good you all are.

Since the fix with update 1.66, the races without chili have become very easy, at least most of them.

1 chili is very challenging for me and sometimes impossible, such as the European classic cars. I can't beat the Alfa. I also tested the 24 Hours of Nürburgring, and even there I can't keep up with the Audi. With the AMG, it's very decent.

That's why I'm even more impressed by your performance.

I'm probably just not good enough as a D driver.

I drive with a steering wheel and VR.

I don't know if it's a feature already with the PS4 versions and I simply forget. As I was doing the last race for the Weekly Challenge (WTC 900 at Le Mans), the car had a buildup of dirt and oil stains after 30 minutes from the race. I thought it would appear longer and not so soon?

I know that tyre wear is visible in this version from the start, still don't remember if the dirt was actually a thing.

I’ve only just started the PP challenge’s and i’m finding it fun and definitely not easy but i think it might be improving my racing. I’m concentrating on completing each tree one at a time, at best i win a race or two or i finish in the top 6 ( the lowest finish so far is 11th cos i got punted out on the last lap can’t remember which race and will go back to it on the weekend).
i have just one question ( which i can’t find the answer to ), what is the minimum number of stars needed to unlock the 24hr races which i’m guessing unlock after completing all the races/trees of the PP?

So I'm 1 race away from the 4 Endurances and just out of curiosity have a question for those that have done them already...does doing small parts of an endurance count towards the daily marathon, or do you only get credit the day you finish? I'd hate to think that I'll be ripped off the plethora of shafts and massive sums of 5K credits if I take a few weeks to finish them.

I don't believe the stars have any bearing on opening the endurance races, they only pertain to the rewards with there being 1 at 900 stars, 1 at 800 stars, 1 at 700 stars and the rest being much lower.

Perhaps you meant to say "it behaves as if it was scripted", but what you did say was that the behaviour was "100% scripted" and that's simply not true.

I meant to say it is scripted. I meant to say that because there is zero observable difference between scripted and "trained such that the line taken is the only line to take".

Go race the group c endurance at le mans and see for yourself. When the AI "training" determines "best line to take" the AI will ALWAYS take that line even when it is occupied.

Yes there is a programatical difference. No there is no difference to us the player.

In the same way that if a Sophy agent lines up in P2, if you spin them out on the first lap, they'll drive at a million miles an hour and magically be back in P2 like it was always destined to be in the space of a lap

For me, this reads as scripted races, which isn't what I was expecting in a 'real racing' experience.

Unless that whole thing from Speed Racer where ever race is fixed is actually real 👀👀👀

You literally described the custom race feature.

The problem isn't "PD won't let us". The problem is that 99% of the community doesn't use the feature because it doesn't spoon feed the player.

To be fair, I wouldn't be too happy if I logged into Spotify and it told me I had to grab a guitar and make my own music.

(Jk of course, the Custom Race feature is a flawed masterstroke)

That was a long journey!

I got behind Gallo and bump drafted for the whole length of the Mulsanne straight for FL with 10 minutes left, I guess that forgives him for the incident in the night!

I tried to save the replay, it's 1.7GB and when you try to skip forward it crashes the game, I'm not surprised but it's a shame, I would've liked a photo of the finish.

The real racing experience is Practice, Qualify then Race, that’s it, everyone’s over complicating this part.
