This helped me a lot with tire wear. Not sure how well it helps with fuel consumption, but it certainly helped my tires last longer:

Used the FXX K for my Week 4 Challenges.

Finished Nurburgring 24h. That was a tough race, for 18 hours I had the Audi R8 on my ass the entire time. I was running medium tires which lasted 9 laps but, I couldnt make up time. For the remaining hours I switched to soft tires and, while not a big advantage, it allowed me to improve my lap time and slowly build up time. At the beginning there was rain close-by but it never came.

I went against my advice following Le Mans and did my second 24-hour race within a week, the Nürburgring race over Wednesday and Thursday. My race remained dry and my strategy was RM/FM2 for 10-lap stints (except the last where I finished while stretching on RH/FM3).

I know I left the Spa race with 1 chili, but it’s staying that way. I attempted the race with the F1 GTR (short tail) and did not find it enjoyable because of the grip disadvantage versus the AI. I’d rather have a power disadvantage that I can make up at the corners, especially at a track like Spa.

Sophy 3.0 is a step in the right direction but the first lap charge and the fact it isn't punished enough for its mistakes mean there's a lot of room for improvement.

I want to do the long endurance events at some point. Unfortunately, the 24-hour ones require a fair bit of planning on my part. :P After people reported bugs with saves, I don't really trust them.

I'm doing the Le Mans 24h race for some god foresaken reason, but has anyone noticed there's a car pace dropoff after a few hundred miles driven?
At 600 miles in a stint I'm about 3-4s a lap slower than I am at the start of one. If I suspend the race and restart it from the 'red flag' - I'm immediately faster again. I'm assuming because the car condition has reset?

It's interesting, I'd like to look more into it but the amount of mileage you need to do to see anything makes it a bit of a ballache.

Any tips for the Nurburgring 24? Does the AI end up making dumb mistakes or do I need to quali on pole?
I'm not kidding at all when I ask this question: Can you lap the Ring at 8 minutes 20 seconds or less for 24 hours? (give or take b/c rain, pits, etc)

If the answer is yes it doesn't matter at all where you start, what car you drive, or even if you start on the lead lap. You will 100% win this race.

The AI will put a car on pole with a time of between 7:59 and 8:04. Ignore that. The fastest lap they'll run in the race is going to be somewhere around an 8:20-8:30

The rest of the top 5 will also qualify in under 8:10. Ignore them. If you can lap between 8:05-8:15 you can start dead last and be leading by the end of lap 4 (assuming you don't crash). If you maintain that Pace you'll have a lead they can NEVER overcome by the time you make your first pit stop at or around lap 8.

I'll run some quali laps tomorrow and see where I'm at. Since getting the RS50 wheel I've breezed through all the other 2 chili races but I'm not very good on the ring. Maybe it would be sensible to do some of the shorter endurance races before attempting it.
I saw Rory drove the Audi with brake bias on full rear. Suppose it makes sense to play on the cars main advantage in cornering as it sucks for straight line speed

Correct weight. 8:20s will do it.

Indeed. Quali is on softs so nobody should be put-off by those times.

The fastest lap they'll run in the race is going to be somewhere around an 8:20-8:30
In my race the best times by the AI were shared by several cars, all in the 8:18s.

The times don't need to be anywhere near that fast, at least on mediums.

As you suggested earlier, 8:20s will do it, even starting last. You just gotta keep the car on-the-road and churn out those 8:20s. If you average in the high teens you'll win by at least 10 to 20 mins I reckon.

I pulled an 8:13.1 on the final lap, whole race on the mediums, which was 5s faster than the AI's best.

Great way to finish the race. :gtpflag:

So in qualifying on softs my best time was 8:17 with a small mistake which probably cost about a second and a half. Am I good to go or should I keep practicing? I want to do it in one, don't want to do multiple attempts
Consistency is your answer.

Plus, what would be your offset when running on Mediums?

Here's where I'm at so far.
Gone with the mediums per every 10 laps however some time back I spotted a big rain cloud on the way, so I switched to softs with the assumption that the rain will pour down before I wear the softs out. That didn't happen. We had a tiny bit of rain filling the rain meter up maybe 1/4 of the way at a couple of points on the track, then it passed. So went back to mediums.
I've spun out to the point the car is facing the wrong way in the grass maybe 4-5 times which is infuriating, but I'm learning the track more to the point where I don't need the minimap to help me gauge whats coming next (yes I'm that bad with the ring).
I expected Drumont to be my nemesis but he started the race on hards and i've not seen him since. I think Lopez is a fast driver, he pitted 1 lap before this image and got mediums, I met him just as he was leaving the pits. Completely lost track of when everyone has pitted so no idea if I have a chance to win. I was hanging with C Roach for some time but he pitted too. Not sure whether to try and pull away from P Urra now or use him for drafting on the straights so we can catch up with everyone else

Any tips for the 500hp tuning battle in the Supra GT trial mountain? That car is difficult to tame without TC
Hey ! No, any tips 😔
I do this with TC1, ABS weak, laptime 1:34:xxx or 1:35.xxx and push push I remember !
Some races are script on a very hard level
It's a good idea for re-do this race for the future Power Pack weekly challenges, this week is done for me 😉

I completed that one without much issue once I learned the car and dialed in the RS50. Fun race. I only have the endurance races left to complete 2 chili.

IIRC it's Cerrano and Lopez, same as in the Spa enduro, Cerrano being the quicker of the two... I think...

Consistency is your answer.

Sarah reckons it's 6 seconds. I'd have expected it to be more. IMHO it's not worth the time lost with the extra pitting that becomes necessary.

That translates to roughly an 8:23 on the mediums and 8:21 without your mistake.

That should be enough I reckon 'cause you're gonna improve slowly throughout the race and as I said earlier, consistent 8:20s will get you there.

Lastly, I wouldn't place too much pressure on yourself to "do it in one go". That pressure can lead to overdriving when you feel you've fallen behind too-much. Also, the more you get to know the track the more you'll like / appreciate the event, meaning that even if you do it in little segments, you can always do it again one day. Each segment / stint can be a fun go-to event you can race whenever you feel like it.

How exactly does the race save work? For example if I need to quit the game now, or it auto updates etc. How many laps of progress get removed?
I just recently did the Suzuka 6h race split in roughly 3h/3h.

All I did was pit for gas and tyres, drive roughly 4 full laps after that and then close the game from the dashboard.

When I went back to the game, I'd choose the suspended race and get maybe two laps removed at restart.

Your tyres will be fresh, but spent fuel is not compensated, hence the pitstop before suspend.

EDIT: just to clarify, you are not forced by the game to continue the race immediately after coming back to the game.

You can play it normally without worry and continue the race whenever you feel like it.

Unless there's a content update. I think

Also, same-lap gaps will be gone. Race will be relaunched under rolling start conditions after a (F1-like) red flag.

When is the next GT7 update due? Keeping the PS5 in rest mode between sessions.
Anyways it should be smooth sailing from here on out. I've found that full rear brake bias works best and as the tyres start to wear, slowly bring the bias more central. Seems to work for me to try and even out wear and keep the car stable. Pretty consistent laptimes now and far less mistakes. Night time is coming.
I'm pretty sure Inostroza binned it at one point because I had a 10 second lead on him coming up to the back straight and when I looked again it was 20 seconds lol.
I like how the car picks up dead bugs and grime. I just wish they included that in every race rather than just endurance races, then you have to actually use the car wash feature to remove it.

That's not good. Not sure I'll get the race done before then. I'll just have to quit to PS5 dashboard the day before and hope all is well once I update the game and reopen it

Current state of play. Basically Inostroza is doing the same as me, stints on mediums. Except he is getting 1-2 extra laps before changing...must have a more fuel efficient car. What has basically been happening is I'll get a good delta close to 1 minute, then I'll spin out and undo several laps of progress, so after I leave the pits he is only 15 seconds behind, then I build the gap back up again. I'm hoping at one point he changes strategy and gets off my back, or gets held up by backmarkers.

Also a bit concerned about Drumont who is slowly creeping into the picture. Very lonely few stints at night, only passing a small handful of backmarkers. There's also a weird glitch where you can't see anything in front of them, it's like their headlights stop working.
RS50 is a proper workhorse, been faultless so far. Dropped the torque to 5.5Nm for comfort. Definitely a bit slower in the dark but I'm hoping my current pace will get the win.
I'm just hoping i get it done before the next update as I'll rage if I lose all my progress. I'm wondering if I should quit out the game now as I've just been leaving it on rest mode.
No idea how streamers do it in 1 go. After 3 hours I'm losing focus and forgetting where I am on the track lol.

Man, I can feel you fighting the long night hours while keeping focus.

Keep it up!

P.S. I just downrate the strength of the RS50 in-game (via Force Feedback Max. Torque) rather than limiting the maximum torque below 8Nm on the wheel itself). Much quicker to modify while racing.

It's been a well-known issue in GT7 since day dot.

IMHO best to save it now. If you lose power for some reason or another all your work will be lost.

Try just leaving it on +3 for the duration of the race. Less to think about.
