What do you expect the Power Pack DLC will cost?

Okay so I think I found the issue I was having. In Power Pack, Sophy still struggles a lot with certain corners - so for example I just did two events and these are my thoughts:

Brands Hatch was actually very good - was fighting with one driver, still 5 seconds ahead of the rest of them but the one Sophy driver kept pace throughout, largely thanks to being in a quicker car on the straights but it wasn't terrible in the corners with that car and track combo. So it was a race where I actually had to worry about that one driver, which was great and I couldn't switch my brain off for the duration like with some offline races.

However on the other side, I did a different Daytona event, this time the 10 lap one, and I noticed at the left hander onto the oval, and the bus stop after, I was pulling away by 1 - 1.5 seconds through those two corners alone and then being caught back a little because of my lack of top speed in the Mazda. I won by 8 seconds.

Definitely my comments earlier, were because I was just expecting something else, based on some of the Sophy 2 races I've done. Maybe it was over expectation, thinking I'd get sport mode type competitive races but in an offline setting.

It's clear that when it works that 3.0 is a ton better than the "typical non-Sophy" computer drivers after my early thoughts, so I'll happily admit I was wrong there.

The mode is enjoyable as a whole, something different with a nice reward system, and I do really like the jeopardy in that there's no restarting of races without having to do qualifying again etc.

Ha! Accidently bought 5 million credits instead of the power pack. Before you open the game on PS you are shown add ons on the right of the screen. The only thing shown was the credits and not the power pack, ergo I thought that WAS the power pack since I knew that the 5 mil in credits was a part of that. I opened the game and surprise! You owe another $30. I take responsibility for it but it would have been nice to differentiate the two offerings together, so they couldn't be confused.

Has anyone attempted the same race with no qualifying versus qualifying? I'm watching Kireth's stream and he did a race with no qualifying and blasted through the field. But when he qualified (different race) he still won but battled with the AI all the way. Does it base the AI pace on your qualifying and thus if you don't qualify you can blast through the field?

That was kind the gist of what was written in the blog, that the pace of the AI would be dependent on your qualy time. But this is the first I'm hearing it.

Done with my first race in the Peepee pack. My impression in short- I like it.

It was a pretty tough and enjoyable race. For reference, I am a low A/S driver in Sport (but speed-wise, I am more of high B/S driver who made it to A/S through strategies and by staying out of trouble).

I chose the double-chili option. Despite setting pole by 0.011 seconds, I knew that there was no way I will win this race because Inostroza was absolutely rapid in his modern Porsche.

I was expecting it and I did lose two positions by T1 because the two other modern Porsches were faster off the line than me but by end of the race I managed to land 2nd.

What I like:
1. Sophy 3.0 does not keep ramming into you at inside of corners of you like Sophy 2.1 constantly does. As a result, I don't have to constantly shut down inside of corners (at cost of my exit speed) like I needed to do with Sophy 2.1. Sophy 3.0 will absolutely put their nose inside of you in corners but it is more of seeking opportunity rather than ramming into you, and pulls back when it sees that it can't get ahead of you. This is a huge improvement over Sophy 2.1.
2. No boost!! (In my non-scientifical observation)
3. Sophy 3.0 seems to behave more randomly instead of just setting same time lap after lap. I like that. Serrano had slowed down considerably in final half of the final lap, which opened opportunity for me to overtake him at the Nurburgring GP chicane and I went from 3rd to 2nd. I like this because it actually feels like I am racing against humans in Sport.
4. No restart. Keeps me more honest, like I am racing humans in Sport.

What I don't like:
1. Sarah needs to shut up!

What I find ambivalent:
1. No penalty on corner cut. I would usually call it a negative but some penalties are unnecessarily harsh and these events are already the toughest events in GT7 so not having penalty is nice. I have to keep myself fair and be my own steward though, like slowing down if I accidentally cut a corner.
2. Sophy 3.0 still keeps it strictly within racing lines. This results in Sophy being considerably slower than me in certain corners. This is exactly same behavior as with Sophy 2.1. I don't like having to obey different track limits in Sophy 2.1/3.0 races and in Sport mode. But GT7 tracks limits are lax compared to other games and compared to real life. I would rather have realistic track limits. So I am taking this as opportunity to undo the bad behavior about track limits that I learnt from playing against humans in Sport.

I mean in a sports race if you have the pace you can go the the back pack and mid but catching the front is hard.. I did a bad qualifying lap and it was not easy goin through the field like normal AI.. even so trying to get past mid pack i spun the car! That’s when I found out you can’t restart a race. 😭😭😭

I did the Brands Hatch event (to the right of the first Hakosuka event) with the Alfa.

DAYUM!! I was busting my butt. I grabbed pole in the dying minutes of qualifying and fought for the lead until the last lap. I grabbed the lead with an aggressive move on lap 4 and that left the other two podium finishers fighting each other. Nail biter though!!

Nice to know that Sophy is a bit less aggressive in its 3.0 version.

you are not alone, very nasty marketing choice there Sony...

Yeah of course Clickbait Kireth is complaining about the AI being terrible and how it's no different from the base game. But, when he did a quali lap it seemed like the AI gave him a good battle. From what others seems to be experiencing it seems like you need to do the quali lap to have a good battle (which is totally fair).

Just done the first two Muscle Car races in the United States branch and hats off to Polyphony. This is fun! If this is what their AI model is capable of now, GT8 and onwards should be amazing offline experiences.

I was wondering how hard they would have tuned Sophy, especially going in with a couple of years experience racing Sport mode in A+. Thus far I've had two pole to P1 races using the "hard" car but I've never felt like it was a given. In both cases I've had to push the whole way with Inostroza's AI breathing down my neck.

Loving the free practice/qualifying/race format against the AI too. In some respects I kind of wonder what GTWS would be like if they adopted it. Say perhaps you know what the car will be but the track and conditions are a mystery until you're matched, then you have to do proper free practice to get up to speed. I can't imagine that happening since it would only truly be a surprise for Asia-Oceania on slot 1 and then the info could filter out but the idea intrigues me.

I know what I'm doing for the rest of the evening! :D

Actually, you can see that the game wouldn't have been released in time if we' d waitrd for all this stuff. With the care and attention PD puts into their modelling...you only need to look at other simulators and the trouble they are having by rushing content. Noone is forced to buy the DLC. Just stick to the base game if it's a problem for you.

I would have gladly waited longer to have something like this be in the base game’s career mode instead of just the cafe menu books.

This is at least somewhat misleading.

You will be. This is what GT8 will be. Are you suggesting that there be an 8-10 year wait between GT Sport and GT7 so that they could do single player with Sophy? Seems unreasonable.

So what content exactly is exclusive to the paid DLC? Is Sophy 3.0 available in the base game?

Everyone's speculating about PP and spec III being reception tests for GT8, but my shot here is that PD will keep releasing half baked content like these just as any other live service game (as GT7 also is) until the active player count is not enough to sell more attempted game fixes content.

I bet GT8 will come around mid PS6 cycle.

Apparently GT7 has sold about 14 million copies but judging "active" players is a lot harder. Who knows how many GT7 owners will be buying the Power Pack on Day 1? Even if there are 100,000 players globally who buy it that's $3 million in revenue in a single day which I imagine for a company the size of PD is not a lot. Do we think 1 million GT7 owners around the world will eventually buy this? $30 million in revenue is a lot more substantial.

In today's world, this amount of content is perfectly reasonable for $30, especially considering all the free updates we've had. I was hoping for a different type of content, or type-specific DLCs rather than a broad one like this, but this is pretty satisfying and will get me back into the game especially considering winter has arrived. I haven't been attached to any video games for almost a year now.
Do pd get the revenue from the dlc,or do they get a percentage of it?

Not at all. Like I said, “something like this”. Even with the normal AI, this career structure would have still been better than the menu books.

Let’s also not forget GT7 didn’t have the smoothest launch and got review bombed shortly after it came out. In hindsight, it definitely would have only benefited from waiting a bit longer in the oven at the very least.

It's exactly what it is though. Nothing less, nothing more.

I get what you're saying though. It would be better if they were advertising their new DLC pack.
Misleading, probably, but not on purpose. I think the 5M credit pack was the last thing that was uploaded for purchase from the store. Which means it shows up at the top because it's the most recent add-on. It's not brilliant that the PP DLC isn't the first thing you see, but it just takes paying attention and scrolling through the GT7 page to find it. It's not like the thumbnail for the DLC pack isn't found 100 times in this thread or the GT7 start screen.

My one question is does Sophy get faster or slower depending on the game difficulty?

If the Power Pack icon is hidden behind collector level 9 then how would it work for a completely new player who buys both the base game and the DLC? I would guess that they would be very surprised that their $30 purchase is nowhere to be found.
I'm guessing the icon will appear and have a yellow bubble, but if you click on it, you'll be notified that you have to reach collector level 9, before you can access it

Has to be said those starter races are an awful first impression. The pace picks up a fair bit as you progress, which is good.

Field spread is still a bit comical, but if GT8 has competition this close I can't complain.

That is blessing, but SOPHY still goes for gaps. I was braking and had that “SOPHY programming door” slightly open at the entry and yep, collision happened. SOPHY punished itself by moving over as a train of cars passed it.

Agree about those initial races. It’s why I’m hoping they get better as I continue.

I've never seen it prior to this morning. I don't think a 5M credit pack was even available for sale prior to this morning -- the exact morning that a pre-announced "big event" dlc selling for exactly the same price and including by chance 5M credits was released for sale.

50 single player events with rewards including 6 modded cars. $5M credits.
Thanks. Do you know if Sophy 3.0 is available in custom races now? Or is it exclusive to the DLC?
