GT5 Sound Thread

Actually there is. At least there was in the TT demo as I specially tested it out. There definitely was a sense of stress when putting the pedal down.
From what I remember, I think the TT demo was indeed an improvement over the prologue version. But I don't remember if there was a difference between light or full throttle. Could be promising though :)

Well I just played the GT5 demo at Gamestop. I must say I'm pretty disappointed. The cars have that halo effect that we saw in GTHD a few years ago, but since this is the sound thread I won't get into that. I drove an Enzo and a Gallardo. They both sounded terrible. Six or seven years ago this might have been acceptable, but not today. They sound NOTHING like their real world counterparts. Hell, they don't even sound like sports cars. It really takes away from the driving experience. I played for a total of 5 minutes and decided I'd had enough. The sound really should be further along than this after all these years of waiting. I think I'll wait a few days after the release date and watch videos of the final product before I commit to buying it.

So I guess no one is willing to acknowledge that all these Kiosks contain what clearly appears to be older code? Even more indicative are the sounds, which as we know from Gamescom have come along way. The real indicator (possibly, though not guaranteed) would be TGS and then we can begin to gauge whether PD still lack badly in the sound department or if they have finally caught up.

Do you have any videos where the sound is actually audible? Because in most of them, I can't hear a damn thing except crowd noise, and most posters dub over their own music because you can't hear the game anyway.

I'm not holding my breath, though.. there's not going to be some dramatic new sound system in place in the next month before launch. If there were a totally new sound engine, we would have seen it by now.

There is actually quite few posted where Alba managed to record the soiunds themselves seperate from the surrounding crowd noise and CoolColJ fixed them and edited them in sync with the video. The improvement is most noticible with the NASCAR Cup Car (since its the only one from E3 featured), which lost the gearwhine we first heard in June.

Considering trading in for an xbox and F3.

i thought in prologue the f430, corvette '06 and db9 sounded good, the rest though were quite woeful, expecially the r8
Uh, WHAT? :ouch:
The worst sound in the prologue actually belongs to the F430. Seriously I drove the Spider and it didn't sound like it AT ALL.

Here is a list of my confirmed for GT5 sounds
What you hear is what IMO will be the final sounds for these cars in GT5

Lexus IS-F

Toyota FT86G

Nissan 370z

oh right, well it's just my opinion. Can't say i'm privileged enough to drive one so...;)
You don't need any privilege. You could watch some videos on youtube and hear the difference by yourself.

Wow actually acceleration sounds better with my crappy cellphone

...

Whilst I will admit that YouTube is a good source for comparison, sometimes it doesn't give the full impression - be that due to recording, compression, etc. or just the environment the car is in at the time. It's surprising how many cars have surprised me over the years, by sounding different in person to how I'd heard them on the TV etc. I'm not saying that's the case here, but simply that people should always take it with a grain of salt.

My 1.3 liter diesel minivan sounds better in a video I made some time ago than in real life!

LOL! that takes some doing:sly:

Seriously though, it seems we will be getting the acceptable if not inspiring Prologue-like sounds for GT5. They need to start the sound recording processes from scratch for GT6 me thinks.
