As far as I know, it's identical to every other PS2, except in it's general construction and external power supply, which makes it smaller. The actual system specs are unchanged.

i've read somewhere that the drive is actually faster, so faster loadtimes are defenetly realistic.

personally, i think this is all total bull****. first it was way back sometime, when something got lost or stolen, or w/e, then there were a couple other release dates, then there was dec 14 2004, which was the statement for awhile, nows its march 05 on that site, and feb 05 on the ign site. I'm gettin tired of this, im not even gonna bother lookin forward to this game...seein that it'll never come out. Just wait and see, come march, they're gonna bump it back a few more months...man this really pisses me off...

Cool your jets, man. Being that profane and P.O.'ed will get you kicked off of the forums. GT4 is coming out, and it's going to be the best racing sim ever!

I'm guessing that it will be released either Jan. 4 or Jan. 11 as Jedi has mentioned earlier, since they are the only tuesdays within the margin from the previous Japanese/American release dates (Dec. 3 and 14). Now that the Japanese date is Dec. 28, the closest tuesdays are the dates above.

For those who don't know, which is probably no one, most games are released on tuesdays which is why we've been using tuesday dates.

I'm guessing the same thing.

sorry bout my rather angry post, it jus got to me somehow, i dunno why, its just a game... I guess it will come out, and yes of course it will be THE car game period. crossin my fingers, jus like everybody else... :indiff:

Yesterday ebgames had a ship date of February 1, 2005.

Today the date is ...... February 15, 2005!

I AM LOVING THIS MESS AND THE FOCKING SONY/POLYPHONY DIGITAL SAYS NOTHING ABOUT IT!! WTF!!!
I'M TIRED TOO! FOK THAT!!

you can't laugh "if the game comes out on time" it's 1+ year LATE. ^.^

You know, I still have yet to see a press release from Sony or PD confirming a release a year ago... I see a lot of people saying it, but nothing to confirm it...

Meanwhile, quite a few other people besides myself insist that Dec 14th was the first time since the game went into development that Sony announced a confirmed release date. Remember, "We hope to have it finished by...." does not count as a "confirmed release date".

And, for the record, by "on time", I mean the first half of January.

This seems highly unlikely. To quote myself from a month ago:

If the game isn't out until next year, well, whatever, but I'm sure they're trying very hard to get it out before Christmas. It is ridiculous to think that January 3 is a valid date (or any time in January). You don't take a product slated for the holiday market and then delay it until one week after Christmas. Either they will work overtime to get it shipped before Christmas, or else they will give up and then take their time with it, in which case it will probably be February or March.

Well, I believe a month ago, they hadn't yet delayed the game. The Japanese release date has been confirmed at December 28th. Which is, count 'em, three days after Christmas. And the American version cannot and will not be released before the Japanese version. Which puts GT4 into 2005.

Ummm.. well, I know this probably has been said before, but I've just checked Amazon and they changed the date...
"...This item will be released on March 15, 2005."

Well, I hope it's not true, but there's nothing I can do about it anyway...<sigh> :(

Jedi, the original release date was for early december with it comming to NA before christmas. Check IGN.com's 2 newest news articles - japan slips, then a day later NA slips too.

I emailed sony NA to see if I could get a decent answer about why the game was delayed - all they did was copy and paste me the "natural problems with localization and fine-tuning" B-S that they released when the game was delayed.

It's just another retailer's wild guess. There is no, I repeat... NO CONFIRMED RELEASE DATE FOR THE U.S. Every retailer has their own date, and they're all different. Believe what Sony says, and ONLY what Sony says.

There the only ones to trust. There the publisher of GT4!
I would'nt trust those VG magazines at all.

the most upsetting thing is that nither sony or KY are saying anything to comfort the fans ,It would be OK if they told us that it would be delayed to XX/XX/XXXX because of XXXXX then I would have no problem with delays ,but the why they are dealing with it now delaying without any offical release date and reasons.

Because of there advertisements. When you watch them on tv or see them in the electronics store, There persuading you to buy and trust them. If i didn't believe a compay's ads, I woud have to read a review in a mag or on the web, or maybe a comparison test. Seeing is believing. Actions speak louder than words.

Ads can often be quite decieving, though. I nearly always read several reviews of a game before I buy, just to make sure exactly what it is I'm buying. There's only been a few exceptions.. games like GT3/4 (duh), MGS3, etc.

Yeah That's true. Especially Internet ads. I'd say just read the reviews to find out if the ad is BS, and watch for ads to let you know that a game is out or coming out soon.

Like I said, I dont believe Sony or any marketing mob, marketing people tend to strech the truth. I read a bunch of user reviews and see footage or play demos myself to see the truth. So does this mean I shouldnt buy there products just because I prefer to get info from consumers?

GT has such a reputation that I will buy GT4 just from the name not from what Sony says.

When I see a ad from Sony for example, I say "Hey that game looks good" so I go do reseach on it. I dont just buy it straight out because I trust them.

Same way for me, too. but I don't have a problem renting games, either.

I also rent games, mainly only when I want to play the game but Its not good enough to buy it. Or if Im still unsure if I should buy it.

Or to save money, have some-one else rent the game/s ( hehehe)! I had a friend that would rent games almost every week and we would try 'em out, just to have fun. Some games, though, where actually terrible. There was one game I remember, "Automobli Lamborghini" for Nintendo 64. The commercial made the game look absolutely terrible! Looked faker than Pam Anderson's boobs (lol)!
Speaking of ads, where can I find those GT4 Demos everyone's been talking about?

---"December 3 was supposed to have been the release date for the final version of Gran Turismo 4 in Japan. It wasn't. Instead, following the game's Japanese delay to December 28 (and some time early next year in America), medium-sized Japan-only publication"---quote IGN.com

i'm on the ign newsletter thing on anything that has to do with GT4. That was what the lastest thing said...again, depressing. sigh
