Just a follow on from the above post.
I've just come off the phone to SCEE and the release date is Friday 11th March for the UK.

I think 11th March is the Official Release Date now for Gran Turismo 4 in Europe as I confirmed last week, I hope it does not get delayed again.

i dont believe this....

i cant even see my driving force pro anymore due to the dust that has accumulated on it.

Why must we wait till march, then get GT4, then one week later get MGS3, then lose our women because they cant understand how we have no time for kissing and cleaning up after the kids, we only have time for playstation, and its only for the next 6 months or so why cant they be reasonable etc etc..... damnit!
i appreciate the accuracy here, but i hate the wait.

I know this won't count for anything, but www.play.com now have GT4 down for release on the 3rd of March 2005. They've had the 25th of Feb for ages, until I checked this morning :( So it's looking more like a early March release. If I don't have it by my birthday (11th March) I'll be very unhappy.

I know there's nothing any of us can do about this, but I'm really starting to lose patience with PD. It wouldn't be so bad if they had not yet released the game in Asian.

Cheers, Jamie

 Talk about a load of crap from IGN, why would a game developed in Japan come out in America first! lol

Metal Gear Solid 3 did

As for IGN they updated their release date list and still have GT 4 at Feb. 22

I'm on the verge of saying "screw this" and buy an JDM PS2 and JDM GT4 from play-asia.com.

Whats worse than all this waiting is not knowing what exactly the release date is supposed to be. Some say February, others March, a few say April, now I'm hearing June/July.

June/July I very much doubt it, the game is done and it's out in Japan, it doesn't ever take more than 2-3 months from the Japanese to U/S or Pal release date to localise or change a few music tracks etc..not unless they are going to make significant changes to the game?

We will all have it by end of Feb or 1st week of March at the latest. I bet my car on it

he where can i download the game gran turismo4 because is too expensive to buy in the store thank you
Buy it or don't buy it, it's your choice. But downloading is stealing and you will not discuss it on these boards, or you will be banned.

Any questions?

It is shame, that PD didn't release GT4 together all over the world. It's just not fair. Also, since they released the game in Japan, they could give us a definite date for the rest of the world.

I am allready thinking of some conspiracy theories, that PD released the game in Asia before the rest because they know, that those hardcore GT Fans will buy also the asian version and thus create more profit for PD/Sony. And longer we wait for European and American release, the more it will have diferences from Asian version and thus more attractive for hardcore GT fans.

Damn, I think I'm loosing it ...

I don't think ANY Metal Gear Solid game has come out in Japan first. So it is not really a fair comparison. Most games made in Japan are released in Japan first, then released in America, some are not released in America at all.

Hey Gilly...what kind of car am I getting?

Sorry man...you asked for it.

Well....because of the release date of Forza....It will be April/May....Dont ask me why or how....but it will be April/May

...It just will...sorry.

I am just as upset as you are.

Thanks for listening.

This big delay between versions is very frustrating. As I'm living in Brazil, I gave preference on a north-american PS2 instead of a japanese one. So, the natural choice is wait for an english-text version of GT4. But, in such a big japanese release, such things happen. After all, the translation must be a big pain in the a$$ to do, specially on a title with so many technical aspects. The large scale copying and distribution is also worth mentioning.

But what really pisses me off is the attention that SCEA gives to american releases. There was no Prologue in US and I bet we won't get the beautiful 200+ page reference manual included in the Japan-Korean version. This is just lame.

GT4 launch in US should happen with a real bang, at the Laguna Seca racetrack, with lots of PS2 racing sets running GT4, the presence of the videogame and automobile industry specialists and journalists, race drivers and celebrities, vintage car races happening at the track while a big launch party happens at the paddock. And most and foremost: a huge media presence, to make it a memorable event.

But of course that's not gonna happen. They don't wanna spend money on a simple reference guide... They would spend it on a lauch party?

Ok, news from Best Buy. As many of you probably know the release date on the Best Buy pre-order slip reads 3-16-2005. So I decided to ask one employee who I recognized as the same guy who has given me quite a lot of accurate information in the past. He said that they supposedly where about to distribute the game when they realized that the game would only play on PS2's with the HDD. So, he says that they are most likely changing the format to play on a normal PS2 with no HDD necesarry. Whether or not this is true you can decide for yourselves, this is just what one guy said at Best Buy (and he honestly has known his stuff in the past). Just putting that out there for everyone to contemplate. 👍

I have good news. On IGN, I read that it may be released as late as July.
Saw that I dont believe it. However I believe they will not work on finishing online mode until all versions are released but that could mean no online until christmas. Use your own discrestion.

Well if this was true then the how are vendors selling the new slim PS2/GT4 Racing Pack in the Asian market?

I think the delay is more due to that SCEA is holding back GT4 to complete with Forza when its released.

If I was competing, I would want my product released before the other one.

On one hand, that makes sense. On the other hand, they may want to release it next to the Xbox title to see if it wins ( in much the same fashion as a race )

In all Honesty, who the hell knows what these people in marketing are thinking.

Anyone here work in marketing?! Sales? Promotions? What the hell is going on!

Either way, we are all still subject to the whimsey of Sony in the end. The worst part is that while all this time of jerking us around ( and being tight lipped about it ), they know we'll still camp out ( yes, even you guys with pre order slips ) the night before it's released to get our clammy little paws on it so we can drive home and turn into social hermits, consuming vast quanities of nuts, candies, chips and the beverages of choice, and eventually crawl out from under our GT produced rocks only to see sunlight and retreat back into the warm breasts of mother GT.

It sucks! :ouch: but it'll be cool. :dopey:

LOL, yeah I'm being reasonably optimistic but you could be winning yourself a 2004 WRX PPP, nicely run in with about 8,000 miles on the clock in WR Blue, I hope you like the colour

I know the business of release dates can be a rollercoaster but it will be worth it when we do see the game, even it it is as late as June/July and if that were the case they would certainly have time to add or improve on the game with things like 2p garage battle, or saves in Endurance etc. but as with alot of things the final testing of the product is lies with the consumer, so any fixes over the Japanese release are welcome.

How longer we have to wait how more content I want.

It won't come in July (I Guess and hope) but if so I want 1000cars, 100tracks and online mode :):)

I have just read on the UK Sony site that the game will be released on the 11th March 2005 :bowdown:

Sony UK

Which just happens to be my Birthday. What a cool present :) :) :)

Cheers, Jamie

Lets hope this is final

NO MORE DELAYS PLEASE.

I was reading a really old magazine and it was saying about GT4 being ready for november 2003. That just shows how long this have been going on for. I would have thought since its allready out in Asia and Japn that Feb 25th might have actually been final. but no, it wasnt

I think I'm going to have to book a few days off work as Soon as GT4 drops through my letterbox and take the phone off the hook and hang a DO NOT DISTURB sign on the fron door
