So if you had 2 and a half million dollars to spend, what would you buy? Things like cars, houses, boats, etc.

Edit: Update, post 45.

Might as well get the ball rollin'

1m on a house
Group B MR2
Toyota Supra
Civic Type R EK9
MR2 Turbo
Toyota Starlet KP61

Stash the rest:tup:

I would buy this house:

waterfalls-house-forest-m.jpg

One of my favorite houses built by Frank Lloyd Wright....

I would then clear a huge area in the back of the house and build a decent sized race track with pits and everything, open to the public on certain days so I have a bit of cash flow too :) Then off to my personal garage:

Daily Driver: Lumma BMW M5

Nissan GTR Spec V
Mine's BNR34 Skyline GTR N1
Apollo Gumpert
Pagani Zonda F
Ferrari F40
Lamborghini Murcielago SV
Lexus LF-A
Black on Black Ferrari FXX and 599XX

You know... 2.5 Million is actually not enough I think for what what I want!

You're not kidding. Each of the items on your list is $2.5m alone - except the race track which is ten times that and the cars, which are $2.5m for the list excluding the Ferrari XXs, and $2.5m for the Ferrari XXs.

I'd be buying three cars - one for its engine - and finish building Marvin, restoring Red and finish decorating the house. Then I'd be sending Mini-Me off to private school when she reaches 11. That'd pretty much be it.

Maybe buy a bit of local land I've noticed (just over a hectare) and put a kart-track on it for something to occupy my day. Don't think I'm even at $250k yet.

I doubt 2.5 million would even buy the house!!

Meh.... guess I just have expensive taste. ;)

I wanted to put this down too:

The Wally Power 118, but then I realized that this thing costs 33 million dollars....

@Famine

Yeah once I wrote down the list I realized, wait a minute... I'm WWWAAAYYY over budget here :D

I'd probably buy a house in Norway with a few acres of ground. 1.5 Million would be spent on taking care of ex racing greyhounds and the dogshelters that need the support.

That's about £1.65m...

This house, what you can't see in the photos is that the rear looks out over the sea. £750,000

3 investment apartments in the city centre to rent out. - £250,000 each (£750,000 in total)

Ferrai 612 - £100,000
Mercedes C63 touring - £40,000
Motorbike engined Caterham 7 style car to race - £10,000

Property + stock market. Who needs powerboats when you can wait a little while and buy that yacht outright.

Good thinking... Bump the house and cars I listed... I'm going to do business with you! 👍 Wally Power FTW!

Bonds and stock, insurances, .... yes I live in a financial center.

To work from the interest (the one above the the index according to my estimate) to get:
* My renovation project finished
* A second hand SLK 55 AMG or a Vette (they come good value for money here)
* a portfolio to work a bit with derivatives on the market (Butterfly constructions, ...)

Man a lot of me is getting boring and old fatherish ...

1.House for ~500k
2.Ducati 1098S ~22k
3.All year ticket for the Nürburgring ~1200
4. Put whats left on the bank

Nr.2 alone would make me a very happy man

First i'd put in my 2 weeks at Schnucks, and hopefully never look back. Next enroll in a good school, fix my teeth, and rent a little house with decent garage. With my free time I could do some work on the Miata, and do a complete ST205 engine/drivetrain swap into the Camry, turning it into the rally beast it deserves to be. I'm sure I would also end up aquiring many 80's toyotas to restore. 2.4 mill left, i'll think more tomorrow.

I'd give it to Dad so he can retire early and finish building that damn dragster. No idea what I'd do with the rest. Beer, Forest season ticket and possibly my own restaurant.

I’d sink £900K in this house.

I'd get a something practical but fun like an RS6 or M5 and then get one of these when they finally start making them.

I think a very nice and long holiday in The Maldives would be in order and I’d get my stock broker wife to invest the remaining £500K for our retirement.

Hookers, and lots of them. Then I'd live like Tony Montana until my heart explodes just after doing a gagger while topping out my car a week after getting the money.

The sad part is, thats honestly what would probably happen. :indiff:

Since I'm in the Philippines..

I'd buy a Mercedes Klasse-S

Then invest the rest in stuff.

That's the V8 version right??? I like, I like :D I went a bit overboard when I compiled a list.... but oh well...

It certainly is! (http://www.autoblog.com/2009/06/08/v8-powered-ariel-atom-500-could-cost-at-least-160k/)

It's a bit silly really and will be way too mental for the road but would be hilarious on a track. I was going to put a Ducati 1098R on my list but my wife thought my Suzuki Bandit 600 was too fast so I’d have serious issues getting let loose on anything quicker on two wheels.

I was tempted to ask the OP for the budget to be increased to something like $50 million because my list is far too sensible really, you’d struggle to afford a Zonda R with £2.5M!

BTW I plan on visiting TheCracker and SRV2LOW4ME for a few messy weekends :D

I guess I'll contribute, seeing as how I started the thread!

It's about 10 minutes away from my current house. And it has a 6 car garage!
$1,249,000
http://realestate.chron.com/homes/listing/2757-16202084

These cars:
Bentley Continental Flying Spur Speed- $208,000
Porsche 911 GT3- $112,200
Chevy Corvette ZR1- $106,880
Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano- $320,000
'58 Chevy Impala Convertible- $115,000
'89 Ferrari 328 GTS- $78,900

I would spend half of whatever is left to buy a bunch of Pontiac Aztek's to destroy them!:trouble:

We might do that in time.

Yeah $50 million would be good :D Then I could afford the Wally Power 118 I posted... which costs 33Mil. in the most expensive trim... but you get a hell of a yacht... :) I mean with 3x 5600 HP gas powered turbines and with the luxury up top how can you go wrong?? :p But thats for another thread... This is the $2.5 million thread... :D

Wow. Over here, $1.25mil gets you just the garage. Maybe.

I would move up from my current house, but not too far up. I'd pay off my dad's and my in-law's mortgages. A couple of cars, including a nice one for the missus. I already have a motorcycle I really like, but to be exotic, maybe one of these:
Bimota_Tesi_3D_2007_01_1024x768.jpg

The remainder goes into something that would grow, keeping me in cash flow for the future.

I'd buy:

Davydov Stradivarius
Hummer H2
A decent Kart
Plymouth Road Runner Superbird

That would do quite nicely!
