After some testing, can confirm that they have nerfed the physics with the latest update.

Knew the physics model was too good to last.

Ruined. Just like Ride 4 and 5.

They never mention changes to physics in release notes. Never did for Ride 4 or 5.

Changes to the physics require updating a few lines of code. It's not like a content update so doesn't impact file size, if at all.

I'm waiting for it to come on sale, but the idea of an arcade physics option does appeal because whereas for a game like MotoGP I'm happy to learn the nuances, with a Ride I generally just want to blast around the NW200 course for half an hour before my wife gets so pissed off with me not helping with the kids that I'm shamed back downstairs. Amd on that score, not falling off every other corner and having to rewind, would be quite welcome.

Is this game literally going down the gutter? Hardly any reviews on the XB store and most of them are mixed baggy, with more users leaning toward negative.

The brake lights don't work properly on most bikes, just like R5, and they keep changing the physics on pro model. In May alone, they changed the physics 4 times and we're back to an understeery, bikes going wide handling model reminiscent of Ride 5.

Is there such a thing as a dev screwing their own game? Do they hate it or something?

Been coming across alot of negative feedback on the store and via Discord, etc. It really isn't that bad. Sure, it might lack the passion and polish from Ride 4, but I guess it's okay as an extension of Ride 5?

Well Ride 6 imo is like Ride 4 3rd DLC package.

The issue isn’t the actual gameplay it’s the design of the game itself. I’ve said from the start this should have been a Ride 5 DLC and not a full priced standalone release. Typically it has a ton of poorly executed ideas “borrowed” successful titles from other studios . The used bike feature is terrible and needs to be removed. I don’t even play the game because too many of the bikes I want are locked behind that . I start it once a week just to see what’s offered and it’s generally the same few bikes over and over. Only a week ago the 1999 R7 was finally available. What good is having a huge bike list if they aren’t available? It’s a dumb attempt to extend gameplay that fails terribly. Too many missing details took too long to fix, finally patched badges to show which bikes you already owned when looking at dealerships and added the race creator back and fixed the editor. The after release support is a joke. It’s simply putting stuff back in that was removed or with held from day 1. Gear really hasn’t been updated much. On it’s on what’s been added to Ride 6 really isn’t enough to justify the full priced tag to anyone who owns Ride 4 or 5. Was not a fan of GT7. But that is an example of actual post game support. Instead of building on each game Milestone keeps trying to reinvent the wheel (no pun intended). It’s like when studios reboot a superhero movie and start with an origin story for the first movie. Why? we already know that and people have grown tired of it. Which is why so many of these reboots have bombed of late.



Said it many times bikes are a niche market and will never be as big as cars. Doesn’t mean you can’t have a steady strong base and doesn’t mean you can’t be creative. But milestone seems hell bent on ignoring its core market for these games. Either you like bikes and racing or you don’t. Gimmicks like Ride Fest isn’t going to get someone who doesn’t like bikes/racing into the game. Milestone’s current direction is pushing those who do like them away. At this point even when the bikes I want hit the used bike store it won’t matter cause why go through all that hassle when I can fire up Ride 4 or 5 and enjoy them?



It doesn’t have to be either or. You can have “sim” and “Arcadish” aspect to attract the different player types w/o punishing each. Just because I have no interest in the “arcade career” unlock journey, I shouldn’t be restricted from game content. If they are locking this stuff they should offer multiple ways of unlocking it. Running races and laps payout just as much as career tasks (especially given these tasks are generally still races and laps). These games are supposed to be fun and not homework. I’ve got no interest in these predefined career tours (sim or arcade) I just want to run the races I want to run. If you have to “force” players to play a mode then you’ve got a problem.



You can’t give stats saying this is what people want, when you make people play those modes because it’s the only way to unlock content. It’s like Sony throwing the stats about digital vs physical sales to justify killing physical media. Of course digital is higher because the physical isn’t always available now. I would NEVER buy digital if physical (true physical) was an option. I would never look at these Ride Fest type career modes if they weren’t required. Sorry rant over

I certainly agree with many of these comments but there is a reason why Ride 6 is designed the way it is and apes Forza Horizon. In fact there are more than 50 MILLION reasons:

In the end these are the only 2 "stats" that matter.

The whole driving/racing genre is a niche (2wheels and 4wheels) so games developers are going to ape those two because they feel like they "have to" in order to survive.

Because Forza Motorsport is DEAD, Dirty Rally is DEAD, Grid is DEAD, and so on and so on.

I don't see this changing until something else comes out and is a big enough success, at which point everyone will "copy" that instead.
 
That doesn't mean I believe that GT7 is a good "game" because it isn't in my opinion (especially the LCD FOMO and messed up economy). And I've stopped playing FH6 already because the gameplay loop is the same FOMO obsession as the last 2 games. But if you look around , they're the 2 game related forums getting the most attention. If you can't convince the players on this site to seek out other approaches, how are you going to convince developers?

Stating the obvious I understand completely about sales and profit. That goes without saying. The two main points I was trying to make was simply

1. blindly copying without understanding is pointless. It’s obvious Milestone tried to copy FH. But like with previous attempts to copy aspects of GT they didn’t understand what they were trying to copy and failed in the execution. For all the hype of “Ride Fest” it really isn’t any different than the previous careers in the series. Just a different cover.

2. why do you have to have 1 or the other? Like I said. You can have it all in one game. My biggest gripe with Ride 6 (and a few other games) is they lock majority of content behind these arcade careers. Why can’t you make that content accessible in two ways? There are bikes in Ride 4/5 I will never have because to me they aren’t worth grinding through the career for.

Every game doesn’t have to be a 50 million seller to be profitable. For every FH there are dozens that never even come close. That is generally the case with any success story. Why would I want to play a FH/CoD ripoff when I can just play FH/CoD

If racing is niche then bike racing is a niche of niche and that was my point. I’ll bet any of my bikes that a bike game will NEVER match the sales of GT, FZM let alone something like FH. It’s pointless to try. But that doesn’t mean a quality bike game can’t be made and be successful. Milestone needs to change their approach. I don’t know their numbers but they can’t be that great. They’ve lost SX, MXGP, SBK, etc……. Because they weren’t smart about the product. This isn’t the NBA, NFL, FIFA with a HUGE audience that will buy the stuff every year. All of Milestone’s games have the same problem. Starting with PS4 they should have stopped the full yearly releases and just did dlc. One major overhaul per gen and yearly DLC until the next. Because really isn’t all we want are new bikes, tracks and gear?That cuts production costs and doesn’t make the consumer base feel burned. But then again doesn’t seem like Milestone is putting a lot of effort into the series anyway so they still probably make bank with low sales

I'm playing it now and it's good I think. Physics keep changing though - they were absolutely fine at launch, but they've made the game easier. Hate it when they do that.

I don't think they copied anything from FH - just a fresh main game interface and design aesthetics for the tracks, that's all. There's no open road riding or anything of that sort.

Yes, agreed, bike games don't sell as much because there is not a single developer that is willing to sink in as much time and resources as Polyphony or T10 have. That's a fact. Milestone do the absolute bare minimum every few years when it comes to the Ride games.
