GT Sport Exhibition Match at TGS 2016 To Star Super GT Drivers

Gran Turismo Sport is currently playable at Japan’s biggest gaming event of the year. The 2016 Tokyo Game Show marks the first time the public has been able to play the game since Kazunori Yamauchi announced a push back to 2017. Much like previous public outings, the game will play host to a broadcasted race, featuring a combination of GT fans and professional racers.

Taking place in Polyphony’s home country, it’s only fair the real-life racers come from Japan’s top-shelf Super GT series. Katsumasa Chiyo — 2015 champion, and a name GTPlanet readers should find familiar — will be flying the Nissan flag; Daisuke Ito (Lexus Team TOM’S) will be representing Toyota; Ara Seiji will be contesting the event in the recently-revealed BMW M6 GT3, which is available to drive in-game for the first time in Japan.

Members of the public will be paired off with the professionals to represent each manufacturer. The qualifying event for the public will happen from 1PM to 3:20PM local time, with the stage event kicking off at 4PM. The big race is scheduled to last 40 minutes, and Sony will be live streaming for those unable to attend.

Stay tuned to GTPlanet for more news on GT Sport as it’s uncovered on the showroom floor at the Makuhari Messe, and join in the discussions in our dedicated GT Sport forum section.

PD please do the smart thing and let people practice before the event so that they don’t embarrass themselves and crash all over the place like they did and that other live event.

I’m not sure what Ace is wanting. A free copy while he waits for the full release? This kind of stuff is all the fans can realistically ask for so I’m all for it.

But yes, some practice before the contestants get their hands on the wheels would be in order. Then they could adjust to the new physics and we could have some serious racing.
