GTPlanet Community Spotlight: Battle of the Photo Modes!

16769135350_7569f8da83_z

I’ve said it many times in the past and it bares being repeated: racing games have come quite a way and one of the more recent innovations is that of a photo mode where you can break free of the action on the track and attempt to tell a story by taking a picture. It is a feature that is legitimately addicting because there’s no restrictions on what one could do, you are free to tell your story and be as creative as need be, or you can simply catch that one moment during the race that made your jaw drop.

In fact, the feature has become such a staple it’s spreading to other genres for the exact same reason thus opening up another world unto itself. It’s one of the handful of features in recent memory that adds to a games appeal but in no way detracts from its appeal.

GTPlanet Picture of the Week

This week’s featured image, coming to us courtesy of Giulietta73, features the mighty Suzuki Escudo Pikes Peak speeding down the Nordschleife. How many of you remember this being one of the fastest cars in Gran Turismo 3 despite it’s…unique setbacks?

GTPlanet Gallery of the Week

This week’s featured gallery is GT6 gallery by NBDESIGNZ and is brought to us by, of course, NBDESIGNZ. Opened on the 1st of December in 2013, the gallery approaches GTPhotography using a combination of unique camera angles, vibrant colors, post-processing witchery, and maybe even a hint of surrealism. NB extracts the most from his photos and leaves you wanting to see so much more.

You can find NBDESIGNZ’s gallery in all of its glory right here if you want to look through the entire catalog, with the latest update on March the 3rd.

GTPlanet Thread of the Week – GT6 Photo Mode Better Than Forza 5?

2509340-4137226409-rsp6.

Gran Turismo vs. Forza Motorsport, a battle that has waged for years and now I’m bringing it to your doorstep looking for intellectual debate, albeit not with what you’re expecting: which game has the better photo mode?

Having used both game’s photo mode extensively, I can only say that both have their advantages and disadvantages. Do I prefer one over the other? Not particularly, but there’s no denying that Gran Turismo’s use of the feature is a little more grounded and plentiful than Forza’s.

The discussion is still going strong in the thread created by our own bashfulboson, so you’re definitely encouraged to jump in on the conversation and share your opinion on the matter.

GTPlanet Vehicle of the Week

Just like the Rewind of old, on alternating weeks the Vehicle of the Week will be presented to you by way of a fantastic video, and as usual I will do minimal talking so without further ado!

It bears mentioning that this is the first vehicle to have been featured here more than once.

Show Off Your PC

The first featured thread to venture outside of what would otherwise be seen here, a trend I fully intend to keep rolling in the upcoming weeks. The first thread to do so was chosen by no coincidence as PC’s (and nearly all the nerdery involved) is a full-time hobby of mine, and I know all of you have PC’s – they don’t have to be custom-built to be shown off, so get to showing!

You can also use it as a medium to get build your own PC or get help with the one you already have, custom or otherwise.

GTPlanet Tune of the Week

14580049920_1e69374b6c_b

This week’s featured tune is a restoration of sorts; the first restoration by Thorin Cain and TurnLeft of the recently established Elegance Automotive Guild, EAG for short. Recommended to us by tuning aficionado danbojte, we’re taking a look at the 1954 Chevrolet Corvette C1 tuned to 414PP.

With its unique presentation it isn’t something that’s easily summarized and is really worth the time to look over, and you can do just that by heading over to the thread and seeing just how much time and effort was put into this – something I’m sure you can expect in future works.

A Late April Fools Joke

Yes, it’s cruel. The funny thing is, if I’m not mistaken, the audio dub is actually from Project Gotham Racing 4. Funny how many heads that game still turns in the audio department.

The Last Lap

You’ll be happy to know that the Member of the Week returns next week with an entire list of new questions, with one or two carryovers for familiarity’s sake. There isn’t much more to say other than look forward to next week’s Spotlight as there will plenty of cool things to read about, one of which a subject we can all agree upon.

Until next week, keep racing!

That April Fools joke though, I have to admit, Gran Turismo really needs to up their sound game. Tired of hearing the civic sound the same as the Lambo. :P

Thanks T-12, another great Community Spotlight and a nice little surprise too.

It’s a great honour to have out little Corvette featured as Tune of the Week. Thank you for considering it worthy enough. And a special thanks to danbojte for the nomination!

Great read! Amazing pictures, and those two M4’s look gorgeous! Man, I can’t wait to get me a PS4 and play Driveclub lol… Gonna be ready for GT7 too!

Is that a reference to the song, or a certain part of Wayne’s World? Either way, nice one!

Alright, be honest, How long did it take GTP to realize there was comment-issue with this article ?.
A day (yesterday) goes by and nothing changes, I make a status-comment – leave – come back and see comments work – Coincidence ?, I think not.

It was with all of the articles, actually. And I notified Jordan in the Site Support forum, which then caused him to fix it.

From what I can tell on my mobile it’s from Forza Horizon 2. More specifically it’s the Charger from the Fast & the Furious free DLC expansion that was just introduced to the Forza series.

      -if I’m not mistaken..
