GTPlanet’s GT6 Track Of The Week: Portimao

Here we are in December, days away from the two year anniversary of GT6, for the eighth iteration of GTPlanet’s Track Of The Week. It’s another real-world replica this week, as we travel to Portugal’s Algarve International Circuit (commonly referred to as simply Portimao).

Another suggestion from resident speed-freak @PASM – seriously, the man is a machine – Portimao comes to us from user @Patrick8308. Patrick has taken care to rebuild the track to the highest level of realism the Track Path Editor will allow, going the more difficult path of including elevation changes to keep the flow of the track intact. In PASM’s own words, “at places he matched the elevation quite well and this track is too good to drive without it”. That’s him blazing through the track in his FXX up top. Not convinced? Hear it from the creator himself:

“The elevation is a bit different from original but some track parts are very close to it. Especially braking zone to T1 got pretty nice, downhill braking to T6 is great too. The diverging track parts have a lot of character aswell, really fun to drive here.”

What a suprise! Thanks a lot for selecting this one as Track of the Week, it’s very much apreciated. I’m really happy my effort is being cherished. I could tell by the reviews of the resource that quite a few racers like it but @PASM hadn’t left a review yet so somehow this comes out of nowhere. The video of the lap is awesome, perfect racing line and it seems the FXX fit’s the track quite well. As with Portimao I always try my best to rebuild my replicas as close to the original as possible. You all know about the Track Path Editor limitations but I guess this replica represents the original flow in a good way. I hope you all enjoy racing this and my other tracks.
