GTPlanet’s GT6 Track of the Week: Sierra Speedway

You have spoken! Last week’s Whitetail Raceway was chosen by our community, and that’s been followed up by another group decision with today’s TOTW induction: Sierra Speedway.

Coming to us care of Lion-Face, the Speedway is built in the Andalusia region, with a simple layout that ensures the track lives up to the name it’s been given. Drivers cross the line deep into the triple digits before being greeted with a gentle left. This corner demands commitment in cars without significant downforce, with the Diablo GT’s rear tires getting light as it ever-so-slightly over-rotates past the apex. A nudge to the right side as the circuit winds back that way lines you up for the first braking zone, a flat, medium-speed left.

The chicane might as well be called Launch Zone!

Fire the car off arrow-straight after that turn has been dispatched, imperceptibly uphill towards the slowest turn of the lap. The hairpin throws a crest in the tarmac your way right after the apex, which will toss the car towards the outside edge quicker than anticipated. You’ll want a clean exit as you dive back down towards Turn 4.

With that out of the way, the next section has a varying pucker factor based on your car choice. The big Lambo bucks like the bull on its nose through the high-speed chicane, getting all four wheels airborne at different moments. You can’t afford to be anything other than aggressive here though, as there’s a long drive uphill to the next turn. A well-executed run through the chicane is the difference between a win and a mid-pack finish in a race here, surely.

The turn at the peak is a fast, off-camber left that’s over almost as soon as you’ve entered it, before tumbling down to the final, increasing-radius corner. This last turn feels very similar in spirit to the final curve of Mugello, where exit speed will determine who crosses the line first.

The big bull's lack of serious downforce makes Sierra Speedway extra exciting.

If you crave speed, Sierra Speedway is an excellent track to add to the collection, especially for those looking to host races, as the passing opportunities are numerous. Get it here!

Looks like a good track! I like the tricky little chicane in the middle of the lap just to keep you on your toes!

Good flow, a fast paced track with proper long sweepers. If only some F1 track designer would listen…..

You mean you don’t like watching F1 cars go round the track for two hours without a change in driver position!? Madness. ;)

That’s true in week 21 but this one it seems that there wasn’t – or it’s that i didn’t find the link ?
I remember that there was a link to the voting section for week 21 but this one i didn’t see it …
