The Japanese GT Sport TV Commercials Are Hilarious

We’ve seen some examples of GT Sport marketing in the UK, North America, and now it’s Japan’s turn. PlayStation Japan’s YouTube has some TV shorts that will air in the region and they’re pretty bonkers.

Most of the clips focus on a commentator of some kind playing GT Sport on a wheel. During the commercial, the driver screams over the top of the footage and proclaims ‘This is Sport!’. Compared to the more serious advertising for the game in other regions, it’s certainly unique.

In terms of the gameplay shown, every one of the commercials focus on the Nurburgring Nordschleife being driven… badly. This then leads to the excitable announcer going a bit mad as he loses control of the car. There is a focus on multiplayer for one of the trailers which shows four new drivers racing down the Döttinger Höhe straight. Funnily enough, this trailer actually shows the best driving compared to the others.

Watch the clips for yourself below and decide if you’d rather this approach to advertising or the super-serious efforts we have in the west.

GT Sport releases October 19 in Polyphony’s home country (Japanese announcer sold separately).
