June to Bring a Japanese Manufacturer, Trophy Fix and More Surprises to Driveclub

Driveclub Game Director Paul Rustchynsky has been busy on Twitter over the last few days, dropping hints about “More surprises” coming in June and then confirming that “A certain Japanese car Manufacturer is coming to”!

It started a few days ago when he was asked what Driveclub has up its sleeves for June.

Two days later he tweeted the news that a Japanese manufacturer was headed to Driveclub, which one has not been confirmed, but given the relationships built with the GT series Nissan would have to be a strong bet.

No firm date was given for either the surprises or the Japanese manufacturer, however Driveclub content normally arrives shortly after the monthly updates and the Driveclub twitter feed had news on that. Included in that tweet was news of a fix to the ‘hoonatic’ drift trophy.

Which confirmed that the next game update is due in mid June, so we went digging further and found that Paul Rustchynsky has also been hinting that variable difficultly levels could also be coming to Driveclub.

Driveclub is also coming to the end of what has been an incredible range of content from its season pass, which has provided a massive amount of content, both paid and free. Will this be the end of the support that is offered for Driveclub?

Given the renewed focus and interest from the updates, the quality and range of the DLC and the extra demand that the upcoming PS+ version may well generate (is this one of the June surprises) my money would be on a second wave of DLC and perhaps another season pass.

It’ll either be Nissan or Lexus. If it’s Nissan, then I think we’ll get the 370Z, R35 GT-R and possibly the Juke Nismo RS. Lexus would likely bring the LFA, IS-F and RC-F.

Either way, I’m looking forward to it.

Now you know how most of us feel about GT6. The only difference is with Driveclub, they actually listen to the fans and take their suggestions.

I’ve known for a while, actually. The thing is, not only does this game have horrible AI like GT, but it has a frustrating lack of content and a focus on “social.” I especially don’t like having social BS shoved down my throat endlessly. Social features are great for some people, but not for me. If I had a choice I’d remove the “Share” button from my PS4 controller entirely since all it does is get in the way for me.

TeamCZRRacing, why did you get the game if you don’t like the social aspect, I mean, it was advertised long, long before the launch came around that this would be the main thing for the game.

I also think that the AI in DC is nothing like that of GT5 or 6 – it’s one hell of a lot more aggressive for a start and at the same time more aware of you…which sounds odd, I know. Not saying here that GT’s AI was a bad one, as I rarely had problems with it, just that the two AI systems are nothing alike.

@MeanElf I was looking for a change of pace and a reason to use my PS4 since I’m not that big into indie games. I wanted a racing game on PS4, and unfortunately DC was all I could find. The social aspect was something I was well aware of, but I didn’t think they’d be constantly beating you in the face with it.

And I’m not sure how you think the AI is better than GT6. They continually smash me off the track and into other cars, and the rubberbanding is so damn blatant that it’s absolutely unreal. It’s pretty obvious in GT6 too, but not to this extent. In GT6, as long as I keep my speed up and use good racecraft, I usually find myself having a pretty fun time. That’s not the case for DC.

If I want to be raced like absolute ****, I’ll go up against one of the 12 billion 9-year-olds on GTA Online. That’s not the experience I’m looking for in a proper racing game, and it’s also one of the reasons I didn’t get very far into G:AS.

I actually find the AI to be not that aggressive, despite what I said – the rubber-banding is there okay, no contest on that but it only kicks in if you have a big crash and can’t catch the lead pack (mostly) but hey, it’s Motorstorm with realistic looking cars…

I also don’t really think that the social aspect is shoved in your face quite that much, as the face-offs you can disable and the challenges only need to be done if you want, but I suppose that’s a subjective thing really.
