Before all the racing action gets underway in the Manufacturer Series World Final on Saturday, there’s a couple of small matters to attend to.
Firstly, Polyphony Digital will be revealing all the details of a new partnership arrangement. Kazunori Yamauchi will chair another ‘trackside talk’ along with design director Julien Montousse from Mazda, to discuss the tie-up between the carmaker and GT Sport.
At least part of this presentation will feature the new Mazda RX-Vision GT3 Concept. Mazda will present the car here in Monaco as a sketch, but it’s due to appear in the third season of the FIA-Certified GT Online Championships, starting in 2020.
Likely based on the show-stopping RX-Vision concept car, the GT3 will give fans of the Mazda brand an opportunity to have a little more choice when representing the manufacturer next season. It remains to be seen what will power the car, but the original showcar used a next-generation ‘SkyActiv-R’ rotary, which could prove a fascinating alternative to the piston-engined cars presently available.
Following the presentation, there’ll be some driving action from the always entertaining Pro-Am race. Featuring the new Laguna Seca circuit, the race will involve invited guests and members of the media, paired with skilled GT Sport players who’ve qualified for the event by right. There’ll be GTPlanet representation from site founder Jordan Greer, along with racing drivers like Jamie Chadwick and AMG factory GT3 driver Adam Christodolou. No pressure!
