A new batch of seasonal events are now available in Gran Turismo 6 showcasing beginner, intermediate and expert level challenges. The events feature non-race cars with prizes unlike those offered in the previous week’s festivities.

As of tomorrow the following changes will be made to the scheduled events moving forward:

  • Frequency of updates will be changed from once every week to once every other week
  • Hosted race event entry periods will be changed from 2 to 4 weeks
  • Ranking registration times and entry periods for time and drift trial events will be changed from 2 to 4 weeks and 4 to 8 weeks, respectively

Although the update will affect all events moving forward, more events will be made available at each interval with increased prizes, such as higher credit payouts and the return of popular gift cars.

This week’s challenges are as follows, and remember to stop by our GT6 Seasonal Events forum for in-depth analysis and discussion, tips and tricks, and much more. All events will be available through September 23rd, 2015 at 0300 GMT/UTC.

Hey Terronium… why not mention the updates to quick races? Getting in is not as difficult as it used to be. The cars, though not as many as l’d like, are adjusted by adding weight or reducing horse power… l been it’s a good place to earn big credits and having fun.

  2. Kingofweasles

At this point, PD should be trying to get the rights to the Ridge Racer series, because there is more effort being put into having these fantasy cars in a “Real Driving Simulator” than trying to make a real driving simulator…

SUCCESS!!! Won the expert Spa 500 with the ’07 Evo and ’10 STi. Does this mean l’m an expert now? ;)

Tuned both cars to 500pp (no oil change), 392hp (Evo) and 405hp (STi) and both at around 1505kg. With racing suspension and drivetrain parts… with some tuning adjustments got me past the lead cars at the last turn. That was fun.

Rather lacklustre again unfortunately…gone are the don tracks such as El Capitan and Pikes Peak instead it’s lame Sh1terra with random cars shunting you out of corners/trading paint from behind… and you lose your points – it’s so random and pointless. Spa is OK but its not going to be a challenge even if its like a swimming pool. Can we have some 80’s B Group Rally cars on snow or sand – a challenge would be great for once!

    1. FrzGT

To be fair, the seasonal seems allright. However the seasonal per 2 weeks amd the prize car thats total sucks its what im taking offense of.

  5. BazB

wastedtime, the thing is, that seasonal events are same again and again… I understand you, I want more different events. But got only clones… Remember, how much times we drove 700 tp cars? A lot times. The last on sierra was easy. Got me 3 tryes. Its really makes me angry, when at the end of long track you’re making a mistake and got to have retry. I love drift. But it makes me sick of reaching points. Need real competition like in d1. Those, who played Race Driver GRID will understand what im talking about.

  6. wastedtime

How come they can’t keep the seasonal’s around longer like in GT5? Why does PD not like to give the player options?

    1. Cobra2245

Just looking at how Kaz won’t fix the servers, and how much Kaz promised us the course maker, they probably won’t even bother putting any work into making GT7. And also seeing that GT5 and GT6 were both terrible flops, I highly doubt that GT7 will be any better, unless someone who has an idea of how to make something good steps in and does something. It’s ridiculous how PD/Kaz have let GT6 go down like this JUST like GT5.

    2. sumbrownkid

      @Cobra

Yeah Kaz promised to fix Greek economy and now the Chinese economies too. No they are definitely putting work into GT7. You may think they are terrible flops, but they are still going strong, and there will definitely be a GT7. Come on man I’m sure Kaz and his team no far more on how to make a game than you or I or any other average joe schmuck on this website.

They already made steps in correcting issues that plagued issues, one of which is audio by snagging some mook that did the audio work for Forza. I personally think GT7 will be there return to the fore. Then again, I don’t expect so many things and hype myself like many do here and inevitably leave the table dissatisfied. And truth told me told, among racing games, GT6 has had far more support in it’s life than many other games, let alone in just the racing category. It may seem like peanuts to you, but at least they give a damn to throw something in to make the game last just a bit longer.

    3. Tenacious D

I can understand people’s frustrations with GT6. Simple things like giving us an Event Maker, which is little more than giving us their event builder tool to play with ourselves, that would be a basic thing but would give the game all kinds of replay value. Clearly, there is something up with the Course Maker or we’d have it by now. Maybe it’s tied up with the FIA Championships and that isn’t ready. It has to be tied up with something, because Famine mentioned that the CM isn’t being held up due to technical reasons.

But, I keep coming back to wanting GT7 more than anything, and let’s face it, work that could be done on GT7 but isn’t, means that it’s being delayed that much longer. And I would really rather GT6 just keep getting bread crumbs so that I can hook my wheel controller up to GT7 as soon as possible. A nice big expansive GT7, as big if not bigger than GT4. With enough tracks and enough cars within one class, it could be.

You guys can want GT6 expanded, it’s a free intranet after all, but I think Forza 6 needs some competition of the Gran Turismo kind.

  7. TJC_69

Is this PD winding down support of GT6? Are they putting more time into GT7? Still no course maker update on the horizon? I have many questions about this.

    1. SVPSkins

I think its PD working at giving us better seasonals and more time to use them, plus giving themselves more time to think of improving them. Personally i dont mind what they are doing.

  8. BazB

Hello, everyone! Sorry for my english… I’m big GT fan. Completed GT, GT2, GT5 & GT6. Missed 3 and 4 games. I love this game. GT6 – best game in series. Got gold in every competition in it. Except few seasonal challenges with anniversary cars, because I have standart edition. There is no challenge, that this game can throw to me. So, it sad, but it’s time to let go this game. Yesterday in GT6 was some news about seasonal challenges. Updates will come rare. As GT fan, I understand this decision. I, as every fan, want new GT7. To be honest, when Airton Senna’s DLC came up, I thought, that in future there will be another DLCs. But no… We got only VGT cars and two new tracks. Even if PD will release track maker, it can’t bring back join in my heart. Now I’m playing Project CARS and I love it. Graphics, physics, everything like in real life. After Project I understood how poor GT6’s physics and graphics. The only one minus of Project CARS is no music during race. Need for GT7! GT6 reached it’s limit. Even PD knows that. Sorry for this sheet… Just need to share my thoughts with crazy MoFo like me.

  9. pasigiri

Nice payouts. Maybe I’ll finally get some of the ridiculously expensive cars in the game (10 million credits and up).

The expert level challenge should be a good one. I do a lot of free lapping on Spa (not in the rain) so this event will fun IMO. The rest are money makers to me.

  10. kaori

When arcade mode will have options like in GT5 or online races ? 16 cars, pit stop for fuel ans used tyres, standing start, etc

    1. infamousphil

Sorry Kaori. It appears that they’ve just given up on letting us have too much fun… having to pass less cars than before. It feels as if PD was looking for a better balance and racing experience. As if it were better to have to work harder with less cars on track?

Not being an ‘expert driver’ l’d rather the racing style of 5 over 6. Least in 5, l could pay one of my AI drivers to get the job done. Oh well, things do change. But GT is still a good game for me ;)

  11. Antony Henley

I dont think its given up on the seasonals perhaps more staff and time being spent on GT7 and other bits for GT6 ie the Vision GT cars. Which seem more of a priority than researcing developing the seasonals not everybody will like it, But thats just my take on it. They put the prize cars and more money in to sweeten the sour tasre it will cause but you cant have everything you want in life.

Also People harping on about how good Project Cars is, still?
personally speaking I dont think its that good. I like some of the tracks and the cars but I have to say between PC, Drive club, GT6 abd F1 2015 its Drive club I play most. For an arcade racer its bloody good and looks fab. Im happy with that. The others get an airing from time to time but Project Cars isnt all it makes out to be.

    1. Kovu

While I agree that Project Cars is hyped too much (of course – it has nice physics, cars and sounds, but somehow it simply can’t replace GT for me [GT feels more pragmatic and authentic]), I have to say that Drive Club is a horrible driving experience. I haven’t touched it for half a year now.

    2. Magic Ayrton

That’s because you’re not doing it right.. With a T500RS, the right settings and a Powerful PC, P-cars is awesome.. I’m running in Wqhl, 2560×1440 on an Asus Led and it looks stunning and plays even better. Some cars handle badly but the Bentley is a peach as is the RUF racing car.

    3. Magic Ayrton

@ Kovu, Driveclub has changed a lot in the last 6 months, I recommend you download the updates and try again.. most people love it.

    4. infamousphil

LOL, l don’t know which other racers are available on the PS3, except FM of course. Not knocking the others but it’s just a game. But GT is so much fun for me to pass the time. Online and (not so much without a course creator) off-line. I’ll be tuning and grouping cars well beyond 6’s online cycle… unless the PS4 comes way down on it’s pricing. I don’t do used systems and parts any more. It’s too painful when they fail. Three hundred MAX… that’s it.

  12. BrunetPaquet

Nice… kinda. The payouts being bigger are something I gladly welcome. But less event changes are… meh.

Still gonna try ’em out… a bit.

  13. ALB123

Wow… Recently, it’s felt like PD has really just given up with Seasonal Events and now we’ve actually received confirmation that our feelings are not without merit. Every other week now? I am so happy I just ordered an extremely powerful new laptop – Assetto Corsa (and possibly Project Cars), here I come!

    1. RACECAR

What else do you want them to do with the seasonals? They don’t have enough cars for ANY series and they constantly go through all there tracks, What else is there to do?

    2. CallmeDan

I really needed a reason to say why I hate GT, PD, and Kaz! Now I’m going to boast about a superior game on a system that is far ahead of the PS3’s processors because that’s a totally fair comparison!

    3. Tenacious D

      Dan, how dare you. ;P

I’m in harmony with RACECAR on this. I’ve waxed at length about how PD have thrown all their effort into making GT7 outstanding and leaving crumbs for GT6. Whether this is true or not (sure looks that way), GT6 is definitely kind of a hodge podge game with a hodge podge car list. It’s difficult to come up with a coherent grid of cars for ANY event without resorting to duplicates.

People can look at this “apparent” winding down of GT6 like the Titanic sinking. Or they can see it as a sign that this sub-team has been working on some quality upgrades, such as Course Maker and a Spec 2 update. Or that GT7 isn’t too far away. I’m going to put my money on the last two, though the second one a little more. As with all things GT, we’ll see. ;D
