Ford to Feature GT6 in Goodwood Festival of Speed Events

Ford has announced the 2015 Focus ST will be revealed in a special presentation at the 2014 Goodwood Festival of Speed on June 27, and GT6 will be prominently featured in the company’s booth – along with former Top Gear Stig, Ben Collins:

Global Reveal for New Ford Focus ST at Goodwood Festival of Spee

“Ford also is teaming up with Sony Computer Entertainment to stage the first-ever “virtual versus real” race on the hill. On its first run each day, the new Focus ST will compete in real time against the Focus ST featured in the Gran Turismo®6 game for PlayStation®3.

“A designated gamer at the Ford stand will match skills against Ben Collins – formerly The Stig of Top Gear – with the action displayed on big screens throughout the festival. Visitors to the Ford stand also have the chance to record their own times on the Gran Turismo 6 simulators.”

Ford’s announcement adds to an already packed roster of Gran Turismo-related events at Goodwood, including an in-game course update, an Aston Martin ride-along, Vision Gran Turismo concept car displays, a GT Academy wildcard competition which will be attended by Jann Mardenborough himself, and numerous “GT6 gaming experiences” hosted by Nissan, Alfa Romeo, Ford, Mercedes-Benz, and Volkswagen. Kazunori Yamauchi will also be in attendance.

GTPlanet will be at Goodwood to provide coverage of all the show’s announcements. Stay tuned!

NOTE: The original version of this post implied the 2015 Focus ST would be in GT6. However, after reaching out to Polyphony Digital for confirmation, “there is no info about the new Focus ST coming to GT6 as of now,” and Ford’s announcement should not be taken as confirmation that the new car will be in the game.

    Thanks for pointing this out:

Sometimes the dates is correct and sometimes they are not, personally i like to be happily surprised rather disappointed.

“the new Focus ST will compete in real time against the Focus ST featured in the Gran Turismo®6”

Do not sell the bear’s skin before taking it …

    there is clearly written
the new Focus ST will be used in real
    against
    the current version in gt6

In case if people can’t read.

@Aussie_HSV Nope, not at all. Just copy/pasted this quote in case if anyone still believes this 2015 Focus is still coming to the game, which its not. :P

    1. scalman

And sure we gonna get that car to game. They allready made it to game, couple days and we gonna have it

  4. Amac500

Cool cool, I do hope we see some street cars that aren’t just part of launch / unveil promotions too, not criticizing though, this is very cool. Hint, hint PD, I want that Alfa Romeo 4C :D

    1. Bom15

yup the circuit is about a mile away. It’s used for the Revival. I do want the FoS forest rally stage though.

    2. acjy1985

The rally course would be cool as it is part of the FoS and I am kind of looking forward to the updated sculpture.

  5. AAR_CobraJet

Don’t know what to say about all this new (and free) content that PD is giving us, other than it’s appreciated. I didn’t think we would receive anything close to the amount of stuff being thrown our way. The Senna pack has started a seamless flurry of activity from PD!!!

  6. R34EVO9

I hope this is the beginning of more real cars coming to gt cause I’m kinda sick of the fantasy cars and the untunable new cars we get (m4) …

    1. Nemezio

      Alright.
It’s real good some new cars.
But the $1,000,000 prize question is:

“WHEN this Focus will be available?” They announce today, but the update will come in… August, September…? Well… I’ll be waiting, anyway.

    2. Amac500

Can we get a Mk1 Fiesta is the real question, the original Fiesta/ much loved classic! Ford of Europe was so cool in the 80’s, even the 70’s and 90’s. I’d love to get a Sierra Cosworth, or a Capri, or the Cosworth Escort as well. Fast Ford ftw :P

    3. thegt500

How about some Escort Mk I and II’s huh ? Road and rally versions of both these iconic Fords would be appreciated. We have several (read way too many) versions of the same cars from Mazda, Nissan, Honda etc etc that only differ in year or spec yet cars that, to many, actually matter are overlooked.
Then there’s the Capri that was successful in many race series, and this too does not get a look in in the ‘encyclopaedic’ game PD would have us believe.

  7. sirjim73

Your amateur GTP correspondent reporting for duty… :D
I’ll be sure to try to have a go at this on Saturday and feedback on the new ST if i can

    1. sirjim73

Shame that the car isn’t coming to the game (not yet anyway, let’s hope it comes along later). Well done @glassjaw for reading through the pr crapola. You do literally have to read every word with a thesaurus to confirm the context.

Still a nice coup for Goodwood getting the debut of the new ST.

    2. Bom15

Focus ST isn’t exactly the most anticipated tbh. Jaguar have a new model debuting, The new Mclaren race car is being debuted to. I think that’s going to be the MP4-12C GT3 replacement based off the 650S. The Honda NSX Prototype is also making it’s World debut. M4 Cabriolet another. i8’S making it’s British debut. Alpina Bi-turbo, Elemental RP1 and the Facelifted CLS is making it’s official debut. And the Agera one is making it’s dynamic debut. Meaning it’s being driven up the hill in anger.

  8. German_V8 Fan

I would be more happy wirh more gt3 cars and the missing cars that already exist on the market. For example mustang variations, camaro variations etc

  9. glassjaw

I don’t mean to be that guy, but…

“On its first run each day, the new Focus ST will compete in real time against the Focus ST featured in the Gran Turismo®6 game for PlayStation®3.”

That sounds to me like they are referring to the current Focus ST already featured in GT6. I was going to tip GTP off to the news, but when I read more closely I decided it was open to interpretation. You know, like any news involving GT6 these days. Hard, clear, factual information doesn’t come often to GT fans.

    1. Nato_777

But if you follow the ‘Ford has confirmed’ link you’ll see Ford says “Ford will even give visitors to the festival the chance to drive the new ST – at least virtually. Gran Turismo 6 kiosks will be on hand with the hot hatch loaded up to race the Goodwood Hill Climb.” Which does suggest it will be the 2015 Focus in the game. ;)

    2. glassjaw

Those are Autoblog’s words though. And I wouldn’t put it past them to rush to their own conclusions. Ford’s statement is what I quoted.

I hope you’re right, but I’m not convinced yet.

    3. Nato_777

I do see what you’re saying – would be a real let down and kind of stupid if you where racing the old model in GT6 against the new on the track for real though.

  10. StigBelcherStyl

Mini joining the vision project amazing, now a new ford focus ST wow go PD so excited to see whats next maybe another Holden???? for your proud aussie fans. Recently i have been so excited to try the new updates from you guys, your still not disapointing. Go PD Go!!!!

    1. Amac500

Sad news for ya to, Holden is going away as a company so don’t expect much new on the Holden front.

  11. rmd2k1

Hopefully the car will handle a little better this go around. Not that it handles bad at all. Dang thing is fun to drive since it actually rotates through a corner.

Been hearing rumors though that it might end up being 4wd instead of just a fwd car. Not sure how true it is but it would be awesome if it will be 4wd

  12. IneedSchool

Where did all this stuff come from Polyphony? Man, it good to have low expectations I’m getting surprised all the time.

    1. Ben West

How about instead of the fusion, which is just a sedan with the drivetrain of a focus
      How about a Falcon instead

    2. grashopper

I just love the look of it. Think it’s one of the best looking reasonably priced cars in ages.

    3. Amac500

I hate the Fusion cus I can’t help but feel they knocked the styling off from Aston Martin. That grill shape, that’s an Aston Martin grill shape…
