GT5 Update Coming August 29th, Features & Content to Follow

Gran Turismo 5 August 27th, 2011 by Jordan

As was suspected when Polyphony Digital announced GT5‘s online maintenance schedule earlier this week, Kazunori Yamauchi has now confirmed, via Twitter, the game’s next update should become available on August 29th/30th.

Following up with his previous remarks about v1.11, he wisely tempers expectations, reiterating the update will focus only on fixing software bugs within the game. New “features and content”, he says, will be arriving “in September and October”. That said, it is worth noting GT5‘s upcoming NASCAR Seasonal Event, featuring Jeff Gordon’s racing suit and helmet, is still scheduled to go live along with v1.11.

Kazunori has also hinted that he’s considering posting tweets in English, which would certainly be very welcome move by many of his non-Japanese-speaking followers and may help reduce the chance of mis-information spreading due to bungled translations. Thanks to iWallbreaker for the tip!

Hey I am American and prefer the old Dirt. Don’t go type-casting us all. Alot of us still love any form of racing. Weather it be F1 NASCAR rally or sportscar racing. No gimmicks involved.

EA owns the rights to use Porsche cars exclusively and they will not appear in Forza 4 because EA will not allow it this time for the time being because Forza’s success is a serious threat to EA main racing franchise.

That is how things stand now, but it the license wasn’t in possession of EA then SONY (not PD) would have their chance to attempt to acquire licenses to use Porsche vehicles in the GT games.

So in short. It doesn’t matter if Microsoft or Sony asked Porsche to let them use their cars because that decision is up to EA.

Do you know what i think would be great…………..when new cars get released that PD make an effort to add them to the game in the updates.
When the Ferrari 599 GTO was on Top Gear i wanted it in GT5. Just add a new car(real life new) or 2 every update free of charge like that 599 GTO or even the new BMW.

But when it comes to DLC’s that we pay for i wish for older tracks from previous games & more world tracks like Spa, Doninghton etc
Cars aswell, old cars such as Ford RS2000, Ford MK1 Escort, Toyota Supra (premium), more premium american muscle.

Also, GT5 took so long because it was the ‘prequel’ to GT6, just like GT1 and GT3 were. GT5 uses practically new everything, apart from the Standards. Speaking of cars, GT2 had like 800, whereas GT3 only had 250-ish cars, and GT4 had 700 and more tracks.
YES, tracks were dumped for GT3, just like GT5 so wait for GT6 and/or this ‘DLC’ and then make up your minds.

Well, Kaz did say he wanted more time on this game. But no, the fans were trollin’ and whining about it being delayed and wanted it out quicker. Well fans, this is what you got. Be happy with it or move along.
If you can’t find ways to have fun, make some friends and go play online. And learn to drive without TCS, Skid Recovery and shift your own gears.

Guys, PD can’t just add some cars and tracks, they need permission for it and a license.
    I don’t see a update…
    It’s August 29th midday.
On GT5 at ‘news’ it says the Gordon event comes in the morning of the 30th and there is mainetence planned for 04:00 in the morning.

THANK YOU. Just like the cars, people don’t understand that PD needed to get the licenses for all 1,031 or so cars.

Licenses for over 1000 cars?!?! That’s a lot of time waiting in line at the DMV.

PD said they would fix (again) software bugs and glitches. Does that also include graphics? It’s been a real issue since it’s relase, GT5 has pixelated shadows and aliased edges when there are smoke, rain or snow effects (bugs that were not in the GT5 Prologue btw, why?). Forza 4 is about to be released and if PD doesn’t enhance GT5′s visuals, they will have something to feel ashame for. Oh, and I am not bashing like I’m an hysterical Forza fan. I’ve played all the GT available, and I hate to see graphics regression. Every new GT would surpass the previous one, but with GT5 it seems that Kaz strongly pulled the brake to that momentum. Please PD, break my jaw again with unmatchable graphics!

Good criticism, I sensed no douchebaggery from your comment. In response to the aliased edges with debris/rain/smoke, it appears that’s been given tweaks. It’s A TON better than it was at first.

How come this patch 1.11 has generated all these wish comments. The actual article said that it will “focus only on fixing software bugs within the game.

New “features and content”, he says, will be arriving “in September and October”.

I would suggest don’t hold your breath or raise your expectations too high. If the goodies do come in September or October then great. In the meantime a less buggy game will be appreciated.

This guy is such an idiot and knows nothing about the GT series. First off Porsche will never be in GT5 because all of the car manufactures in GT5 did ask PD to give them money for them being included in their game. The reason that Porsche and other manufactures are in Forza because, Microsoft pays for them to be in there. As for PD they don’t they ask them to be in their game.

      Black, I agree.

But actually, honestly, FM4 will be more realistic than FM3, but gameplay graphics still aren’t as realistic as people think (still cartoony) and the physics won’t be as good as GT5′s because they didn’t even strive to have a pure sim for the previous Forzas.
