“Nissan Connect NISMO Plus” Teased with Gran Turismo Integration, Coming June 2014

A new service called “Nissan Connect NISMO Plus” was revealed earlier this week in a teaser posted on Nissan’s official YouTube channel, and is set to be launched for the Nissan GT-R NISMO in June 2014.

“You can re-create your drive on PlayStation,” says a spokesperson in the video. Kazunori Yamauchi is also in the teaser, and states “How to visually express driver-generated, real-time vehicle information, in a new, exciting way… Our challenge has just begun.”

The data-collection service appears to work similarly to the CAN-Gateway ECU, which which powers the “GPS Data Logger” feature that was shown off for Gran Turismo 6 back in November, but the functionality hasn’t been mentioned by Polyphony Digital since that time.

Since there’s so much complaining and arguing, I thought I would throw out a completely unrelated question. Who here just totally loves the X-bow?

    1. SZRT Ice

      Or they’ll complain more because…

      1. Certain features in GT7 didn’t make it in GT6, or…

      2. Certain features that should have made it to GT7, still didn’t make it…

      Livery editor anyone?

  2. kollosson

Lol @RESHIRAM5, no mate I missed the typo, strange that, I just took what you typed literally, ESP not working today….typo, that’s a good one lol

    1. RESHIRAM5

I see that all you are doing now is pointlessly throwing the same arguments other and other and other with basically no end.

Can’t really tell if the typo thing is an insult (sorry if it isn’t).

  3. kollosson

@RESHIRAM5 so, you have watched GT3 cars whizzing around the track on TV, no tail happy cars in sight and you think you could jump into one of those and do the same lol, every performance car is tail happy if you don’t know what you are doing, the drivers of those GT3 cars are pro race drivers, stick a load of gamers in those seats you would see some tail happy cars, I guarantee it. Can’t believe you are throwing a negative at GT6 for being realistic….

  4. kollosson

@RESHIRAM5 ‘ realism doesn’t equal fun and enjoyment ‘ oh right so a driving sim does not have to be realistic? its funny because if GT was not realistic you would be saying its too arcade, obviously you are not a fan. GT6 is being compared to Forza 5 because it can be because it is that good….next gen game with static lighting, not very next gen is it ?

    1. RESHIRAM5

      1. Didn’t you see there was a typo. It was meant to be “realism doesn’t always equal fun and enjoyment”.

      2. I wouldn’t mind if the game was arcadic actually, never really cared about realism as long as the driving and racing is fun.

      3. Almost everyone has difficulty with the R8 LMS GT3 in this game because of how bad it drives compared to real life. If you want to play the assuming game then, I don’t think you even watch car racing.

      4. Judging by your last remark your saying GT6 can be compared to Forza 5 because Forza 5 doesn’t live up to next-gen expetations. So GT6 is actually being compared to a game that isn’t up to next-gen status (which means GT6 isn’t that good to be a next gen).

  5. kollosson

Progress823 you call your self a casual racer yet you’re complaining about the handling of the R8 ? driven a real one? try mixing the tyres mate, works wonders for tail happy cars….

  6. kollosson

jhw93 and biftizmo I agree with you both, Gran Turismo has been the premium racing game since it first hit the scene on Ps1, no other console racer has managed to better it, sure there have been some great racers but none of them have that GT sheen of realism and attention to detail. I was so excited by the news that GT6 would have the Ferrari 250 GTO and the 250 SWB because GT versions of cars just seem more realistic than any other game. Fans may have niggles about the game but there is a difference between nitpicking and stomping the game into the dirt and spitting on it, those are not the actions of a fan. GT6 is an incredible feat, a PS3 game being compared to a next gen game ( Forza 5 ) says it all really and in my opinion GT comes out on top which I find amazing.

    1. RESHIRAM5

      1. If it was a racing game, how is it outdated on Opponent A.I (even GT5P is more up to date on A.I)?
      2. Sure the cars could be argued the most realistic in handling (though from a racing car point of view, I disagree) but realism doesn’t equal fun and enjoyment.
      3. It is only compared to Forza 5 because of their rivalry and release dates, not because GT6 is so good.

These are my opinion, sorry if I you take it as a big fat statement. GT6 is a good game but with its good features come with its outdated stuff (car sounds etc._ that people don’t want to see anymore.

    2. kollosson

Depends how you drive it mate, any performance car is tail happy if you drive it badly. Do you drive in real life ?

  7. biftizmo

Your rumbled..your not fans…your paid Microsoft infiltrators..bad mouthing GT6 …Why else keep reiterating every things bad and there moving on but never seem too?..strange..
They better shift some units with this x1 forza 5 jobby…or they will stop making it….good to know kaz will still probably continue to innovate with GT even if nobody buys it…ha ha…
I think this tech as been used in a few different cars now…Corvette..Nisan..Toyota…also AMG with David culthards top gear lap all that time ago.i bet..
maybe they’ll have a pro version that has to be fitted and an app version that works with your phone..the possibility’s are exciting.

Racing celebrities has gotta be better than racing AI any time.

  8. Progress823

I have much to say here, I hope I am not too long-winded. Regarding this feature, it’s a cool toy really, but honestly, restricting it just to one car is a $150,000 expense that not too many people that play this game/drive this simulator can afford. Why not make an app in which via cellular gps can log your data from anywhere, which can be used in any car? Maybe more people would have a use for it?

I don’t want to leave anyone out here – did anyone ask theirself why are they buying GT6 before their purchase, or in many cases including my own, preorder? Even with the disappointment of GT5, expecting more DLC in fact when only 7 paid DLCs were released, endless car duplicates and wash-rag AI; we still purchased GT6. Why? Were we hoping for a change in anything? More cars? Better tracks? Better career mode? More powerful course maker? Revised B-spec?

We are four months in. Not much new stuff. Matterhorn is good, the four layouts of it. A few more premium cars, ok, good. The AMG Vision GT – great, well, good add (both variants). The problems begin there. Why is there a car that there are going to be five actual units built lacking an interior? There is really no excuse for making that car with a simple interior. The exhaust note on this car with the stock exhaust is beautiful, as if someone actually took the time to model it. Jump in the Racing Series and poof – sound coded to another car in game. At least they could have carried the stock note from the original or just coded a sound all its own.

We don’t just stop there. Anyone remembers how beautifully the Audi R8 LMS handled on GT5 with a good tune? Buying GT6 and reading in the upcoming months prior to the game being released that K&W Suspensions was providing input to the game, I was expecting that car as well as its progeny, the R8 LMS Ultra to be even better. Serious mistake. To this day, I have both of those cars and they’re sitting in my garage waiting for a game update so that they can be properly fixed. For anyone that thinks the car is supposed to drive like does on GT6, watch a GT3 class race and watch the R8. The car has won many races, it’s not tail-happy and is arguably the most stable of the GT3s.

Updates. Based on the original unwritten schedule, we are supposed to get approximately 2 updates per month (that is based on the 25 or so VGT cars being released over a period of approximately one year – as on the Gran Turismo web site); we should be looking at Version 1.08 at this point. Right not, still 1.05 without a course maker or B-Spec, still no extra VGT cars or production cars for that matter and the track set in Spain is still missing.

I don’t blame anyone for wanting to bail away from GT6, let alone the entire franchise of GT at this point, and going over to FM4 or FM5, waiting for pCARS or even selling the PS3 to get a PC for iRacing or SimRaceway. Even for me, a casual racer, I come home from a long day of work expecting new content, something exciting – nope. Even the online racing is horrid. Too much lag, too many bad drivers, too many copies of the same kind of room – nothing new.

All of this brings me back to my first question – why did we buy GT6?

    1. HuskyGT

Well said. The points you discuss here are just a few of the negatives, but you got them spot on. Some of the mistakes PD makes are just mind boggling, like if they really didn’t care what they are doing.

I’m starting to ask myself that question; why did I buy GT6? Maybe it’s because I’ve been playing GT since the first game, so it’s really just because I’m used to the series. Another reason would be that I am always expecting to see if they have added/fixed things that I’ve been looking forward to for many years. One last reason would be because I haven’t really tried anything else.

So far, I’ve only had access to Playstation consoles, so when it comes to satisfying my need for cars, GT is really the only good option. NFS is terrible and other good games like Dirt only focus on one racing series. But things have changed now that I finally have access to another console. I mentioned below that I’ve been playing Forza 3 for the past days and I’m feeling so bad because a 2009 game is way much more fun than the latest GT. I play this game and I am instantly transported back to the GT2 days. that’s such a good feeling GT hasn’t given me for quite a long time now. Sure, FM has its flaws, but it beats GT in what I feel are the most important aspects (personally).

I thought I would never say it, but after 15 years of loyalty and support, I think I’m done with GT… Will play FM3 for a month or so and then I’ll get FM4. If this game really convinces me, then I might be looking into buying an Xbox One.

    2. TokoTurismo

+1 HuskyGT. I’m sure you’ll love FM4 even more after you get it. Also, Forza Horizon 2 is coming out on Xbox One this year as well. So you’ll have two Forzas, how cool is that? I’m also planning to get an Xbox One and Forza 5 along FH2 this xmax. :)

I like GT, but it just feels like Kaz doesn’t care anymore…

    3. mef

Hey Toko, I would not say Kaz does not care about GT. That is far from the truth. I have a different theory abotu the lack of community interaction or lack of addressing issues we have with the game. If you watch the Kaz doc it mentions how PD felt akward initially when releasing the fist Gran Turismo to the public. They referred to it as ‘their’ Gran Turismo. I think this shines light on the general approach they have to this game/simulator. It is not their intent to please fans or customers first. First and foremost they are doing what they want, stay true to what Gran Turismo is to them. Many times I do not like the attitude. But at the same time I keep buying the games and I love playing GT. Kaz has so many avenues to explore in Gran Turismo, it is literally endless. Not caring is not part of what he does. Not caring about our particular gripes with a release, possibly. He just has his own agenda and fullfilling our wishes is just not a priority. I wonder if PD staff are playing their own internal builds with more configurability for racing or possibly a course maker and other courses like skid pads, drag strips etc that would be needed to actually test tuning and simulation mdoels properly. It sounds crazy but is it thinkable that PD is keeping the really good stuff for their own builds?

    4. TokoTurismo

Well I did watch the Kaz doc and thought it was great, but I wish the game and especially the fans (that supported him), were given more love though. :\

  9. kollosson

Master Weasel I have played the Forza 4 demo and I thought it was terrible, no feeling of grip, it was like driving a bar of soap and is the reason I dismissed it instantly. When you say people are getting fed up with GT I assume you mean you and your friends lol, funny that GT constantly out sells Forza. You see its mainly Forza fans pulling down GT in a desperate attempt to vindicate their game, don’t see many GT fans having a go at Forza, that’s because we are happy playing the best console racer. GT7 will leave Forza in the pits for a number of reasons the most obvious being that the PS4 is the most powerful console on the planet, best get used to that static lighting fella…

    1. jhw93

I have to say I agree with you, a lot of people have just made accounts on this site for the sake of trolling. Some people on here will have genuine concerns about the game which is perfectly fine. However, the fanboys are easily spotted when they complain and then mention the forza series or project cars in the next breath. It is obvious that a lot of people are here just to spark debate and try pull down the main rival of their favorite driving games. If they genuinely think FM and Pcars are better then that’s fine but i’d rather stick with GT. Forza has arcade handling, pretty but unrealistic graphics, over aggressive AI (why would anyone in real life be ramming several million pounds worth of cars into each other), the only thing going for it is the nice engine sounds. I have had both shift games, both arcadey and overly aggressive AI that just turns the races into demolition derbys. I also have slightly mads ferrari test drive game which is just awful, a game where trees glitch into giant green squares. People make big hype about pcars, from their track record im gonna remain skeptical. I will happily take the ‘poor engine’ sounds and standard cars over arcade handling and chaotic, unorganized racing. GT also has the best car models in the business, i recently played the GT HD demo that came out in 2006, it is basically what GT would be like on PS3 if it ran at a 30fps framerate, because its 30fps, it has higher res textures and higher poly models than the 60fps GT5 and GT6 games. I was driving a Ferrari 599 on GT HD and was shocked by how amazing it looked, I have NFS rivals for PS4, and the car models in GT HD look better than those in nfs rivals.

    2. Master Weasel

@kolloson: Oh boy. So many things wrong with your comment.

“Master Weasel I have played the Forza 4 demo and I thought it was terrible, no feeling of grip, it was like driving a bar of soap and is the reason I dismissed it instantly.”

Oh, so you played the demo versus playing the full game, which has different physics. Good to know.

“When you say people are getting fed up with GT I assume you mean you and your friends lol, funny that GT constantly out sells Forza.”

No. Take a look at the forum and you just
might see what I mean. And sales =/= better game.

“You see its mainly Forza fans pulling down GT in a desperate attempt to vindicate their game, don’t see many GT fans having a go at Forza, that’s because we are happy playing the best console racer.”

I really want to know what alternate universe you’re living in because it goes both ways in the real world.

“GT7 will leave Forza in the pits for a number of reasons the most obvious being that the PS4 is the most powerful console on the planet, best get used to that static lighting fella…”

Can I borrow your time machine? I really would like to see this for myself.

  10. kollosson

Forza to me has always been a poor mans GT, Forza 5 is probably the first Forza IMO to compete with GT shame its like a demo. Forza 3 was a nice game but unfinished, remember at the end of the replay where it used to freeze on the finish line, horrible and the cars were not modelled as well as GT4 on PS2, funny how things repeat themselves. I think the comparison with Forza 3 and GT5/6 is going to resemble that between Forza 5 and GT7, PD has always been ahead of the competition IMO in terms of graphics, realism, content and innovation. With the imminent arrival of the new track, GPS and track editor I think GT will again push way ahead of its competitors.

    1. Master Weasel

I take it that you have never played Forza 4, since you’re brining up Forza 3. Which in that case, it’s hard to take your opinion seriously.

    2. smirwin

I have played forza 4 and he’s right. I started playing gt again because forza got boring. the numbers speak for themselves. Gran turismo is the number 1 racing game franchise and for a good reason.

    3. Master Weasel

Going to have to disagree then. GT has really lost its edge lately and PD can announce a new track and GPS course maker all they want. Until we see results, it’s all hot air. And it doesn’t help they can’t fulfill their promises. And for their sake, I hope all of these promised features and content are worth the wait because people are getting fed up. Otherwise, I don’t see GT7 doing well at all.

    4. TokoTurismo

Heh. GT7? That game is going to flop so hard, PD should just give up. pCARS and Forza Horizon 2 are both coming out this year, so PD doesn’t stand a chance with their “demo” that’s said to be in the works.

  11. HuskyGT

My roommate had a complete edition of Forza 3 lying forgotten in a closet. He gave it to me… I know it’s an old version of Forza, but it’s the first Forza I own and get to play freely whenever I want. Man… I’m having so much fun…

I hope PD comes up with something that changes the game completely for the good. Right now, the more I play this crappy old car game, the less I want to play GT6.

    I’m sorry, PD…

    1. TokoTurismo

If you were worth to play FM4 as well. You’ll instantly say “goodbye PD and GT, forever. WOOOO, freedom!!” ;)

    2. M2M design

FM4 is more beautiful and fun! Increase the difficulty, make the most aggressive opponents. They are not idiots opponents of Gran Turismo 5 and Gran Turismo 6.

    3. HuskyGT

The A.I in Forza 3 is kinda stupid and easy, but they don’t seem dead like in GT. The game itself is simple but I love the car selection, the sounds and the customization when it comes to vinyls and that kind of stuff.

The negatives would be that the physics are nothing next to GT’s, even though they are better than in other games I’ve tried. The lack of night racing and weather makes it feel kind of incomplete too.

Even with that, maybe it’s because it is a new experience, but I do feel Forza has that spark that GT lacks. I’ll definitely buy Forza 4 and give it a try. Who knows, maybe I’ll like it and end up getting an Xbox One and Forza 5.

    4. ZEROTHEKNIGHT

      Sadly isn’t.
      i have both Forza 3 & 4 – played Forza 4 mostly.
the AI is over assisted ( or over powered ) in Forza 3 enough to cut corners at insane speeds which is almost impossible for the player keep up even if you have something like super human reflexes to AT LEAST keep up with it on hardest difficulty.
in Forza 4 they’ve improved AI but it has a major problem with AI battling tactics – if you eased your focus for a certain amount of time – the AI will smash your car in the corner pushing you off the course.
another issue where the AI sometimes – not only one AI but multiple AIs hitting your car when it’s in complete stop one by one & sometimes when they try to overtake you – they keep ramming you from behind.
also i’ve noticed that on highest difficulty – if you fall behind – the AI will slow down a little up-ahead depending on your distance to give you the chance to keep up & once you overtake them even if you were REALLY far – something happens to the game ( which is similar to boost or catching up mode which is a common thing in Arcade racing games like NFS ) which makes them catching up to you no matter how fast you drive.
i tried it first hand on advanced championship where you use racing cars which are close to the power of Ford GT – i think i used a tuned or fully upgraded GTR on Silverstone Circuit at professional difficulty Manual Clutch Gears with all assists off except ABS – i’ve been driving at insane speeds trying to get close enough to the limit of the AI aggressive driving in the corners which it reaches to the limit where i try very dangerous late brakes & insane driving speeds against the corners – when i pass the AI for a certain limit up ahead ( i think even if i went too far ) they suddenly starting to catch up in an unexplainable approaches – also when i fall behind at a certain limit they slow down for me to catch up.
it’s a completely unfair experience against the AI – kinda similar to how it feels against AI with catching up programming in other racing games.

  12. ccaranna

Comparing video games to vacuum cleaners is comparing apples to oranges. When I can plug my vacuum into the internet and get it updated then there’ll be an argument.

  13. DYLAN777-is-not

GT is awesome. They have the biggest ideas and give us tons of content. I just wish they would scale way back on the next GT. Put like 20 tracks and 600 cars tops and focus heavily on fixing the gameplay. Gt6 has no new features. There are countless quick and easy ideas to have included. The car list needs to focus more on racing not random collecting. I would like to do racing leagues of current gen touring cars or any other stlye league snd have it reslistic. There should be pit stops and strategy and competitive ai and qualifying. 20-25 lap races(30 minutes roughly), light tuning only. Not a ’09 corvette racing a lamborghini muira vs a 1996 camaro race car vs a le mans car. This isnt the PS1 anymore.

    1. Steph290

I could’ve sworn there was a like button instead of these “+1s”, oh wait those were in the forums. Well just to reply I actually enjoy the collecting aspec of GT (minus the duplicate cars), as it gives the series a special charm. It would be nice to update the car list every few months but we’ll see. Don’t know where you’ve been, but there are pit stops, and qualifying (in a previous GT), but most veterans could get by a race without it. The AI is getting better, I’m not gonna complain there.

  14. jhw93

I have been reading the comments and I’d thought that I would comment.

A lot of people have are complaining about how PD have gotten their priorities wrong regarding updates and etc. Before I comment on this, I will say that I myself have been disappointed regarding updates recently. However, I can’t ignore the impression that some people on here have given me. A lot of people seem to think that because PD have spoken about this new Nissan related feature, that means that PD are somehow not working on other stuff like the sound update or the senna content.

I don’t know if it’s lack of understanding or ignorance but games developers such as PD have will have over 150 employees all working on different aspects of the game. Just because PD have spoken about one particular aspect doesn’t mean that its the only thing they’re working on. The reason why they are not talking about a sound update is because it is obviously not ready, whereas this nissan stuff was. It has got nothing to do with ‘priorities’, some features take longer to make than others.

I don’t want to sound like a ‘know it all’ but some people on here do not use their heads when making comments. Yes I think this nissan stuff crap, there I said it, but it is hard to ignore the whiners on here barking ‘WHERE’S MY SOUND UPDATE!’. Just because the sound update is not ready yet doesn’t mean PD shouldn’t be committing to other features too and it doesn’t mean there only working on one thing at a time.

I would love a sound update, more cars, tracks and so on, those are the things I want the most like most people but just because PD makes a statement about a different feature doesn’t mean that they are not working on a sound update or another other eagerly anticipated feature. It’s just that those eagerly anticipated features are not ready yet, I don’t know weather its lack of understanding regarding games development or just ignorance.

I don’t want to sound like some mad fanatic desperately trying to defend the game but some of the comments on here are just stupid. They have promised a lot of features for the future, and I too would like them to tell us more but I understand that things like sound updates take ages. This now leads on to where I am going to put you all out of your misery.

Look, your not getting a sound update for GT6. There is no doubt in my mind that they are working on a sound update but it will not be ready for GT6. I have experience in the games industry and I will happily tell that a sound update is a massive job. It requires complete re-engineering of the sound engine for the game, then they have to get it work within the limitations of the PS3 hardware, there are also 1200 or so cars, many of which will need unique soundtracks which need to be created again by sound engineers. We are talking many months worth of work here, and you are complaining about it when PD only mentioned about this around 3 months back. By the time a new sound engine has been engineered, GT7 will probably be around the corner.

    Apologies for the rant.

    1. biftizmo

yep+ 1 ..sound update..VR takes a whole load of sound landscape building…maybe this is the issue as they always have done some extensive sound mapping recording. but how they deliver it is an issue until VR-GT7 for PS4…like you cant enjoy 5.1 or DTS with only 2 speakers…same VR without headset will be an issue.

I came to GT knowingly..not expectantly..

    2. Tenacious D

This is a Ten D worthy post, and I approve of almost every word. ;D

Sort of. I think the GPS thing could turn into something very cool if it can integrate into the Course Maker. And I’m definitely in the Griffith500 camp on the sound update, though he is much more optimistic than I am. I’m more aligned with jhw93 on the big update happening in GT7 on PS4. People keep ignoring the fact that other racing games either have far fewer cars to record, or in the case of Forza, don’t use unique high quality sounds except on the car the camera is focused on. Heck, in Forza 4 with a race featuring street cars, your car will ROAR over the pack a mile off, while the other cars putter along sounding generic or vacuum cleanerie.

I’ll admit that the lack of ANY updates isn’t cool, but the year isn’t over yet, and it took a year for GT5 to get really good with its Spec 2 update.

    3. SnakeOfBacon

      +2!
Just because another side-project has been announced doesn’t mean everything else has been abandoned, of course. Some people seem to be acting far too hostile given the circumstances.

    4. doblocruiser

A nice post jhw93. However as a customer I don’t need to understand how a gamedeveloper works. As a customer I only care for a product that I pay money for. The customer doesn’t need to understand why certain features take more time or why they are not implemented. GT6 has false marketing/advetising labeled all over the place and now people look surprised when PD gets flamed.

If you buy a vacuumcleaner in a store and on the box it’s says it has 1800 watts and has a cable of 15 meters. At home you discover it has only 1100 watts and a cable of 12 meters. What do you do as a customer? What do you think as a customer? You want to know why the producer didn’t deliver what’s written on the box or do you return the device and ask your money back?

If you call customer support and they say, well sir, the vaccuumcleaner will get an update in watts because we are still working on the engine but we worked hard on the display so that you can read how much dust it has collected. As a customer you just don’t care. You want your product as stated 15 meters of cable and 1800 watts.

The GT franchise is currently taking a serious beating and I just would like to see they all would beat a bit harder. Not only GTP but also the serious gaming websites. Maybe then PD will wake up and pull their heads out of the sand.

    5. fordskydog

How about this: the anxiety over new content comes from the fact that PD has promised us things many times over while completely failing to deluver. They promise new stuff and yet the stuff they promised last time has never materialised. So it is not unfounded to worry that resources are not enough to deliver.

I am the biggest GT fan. I have played every release and will keep playing GT6 every day. EVERY DAY. ALL I REALLY WANT IS THE TRACK MAKER THEY PROMISSED.

Why does PD continue promising new content and failing to deliver? At some point they are going to piss off even their most solid core fan base.

      WHERE’S MY TRACK MAKER?!?!

    6. myopinion11

doblocruiser: i totally agree with you! I do think they are very passionated people at PD but it doesnt shows to the game itself wich is very bad and they are giving a wrong image of their company too.
I dont understand why to publish an “unfinished” game with 3/4 of the cars are “standard” with no interior, AI hasnt been touched pluss the most annoying thing FOR ME the sound hasnt been touched either although they have PROMISED TO RELEASE IN AN UPDATE but still !!! BAD CUSTOMER SERVICING!!

    7. myopinion11

AND IT REALLY BROKE MY HEART HOW THE AUDI QUATTRO S1 SOUNDS IN GT6 ASS AN AUDI QUATTRO S1 FAN!!! SHAME PD FIX IT !!

  15. biftizmo

Ok …so theirs a big gap…consumer and futurist…what you got to realize is when computers were invented..they were futuristic…and all sorts of things were predicted…how wonderful they would make our lives…endless possibility’s…well that time is now…..some even suggest this article is a stunt and in some way not even related to gt…what your seeing here is a vision realized….lots of scientific advancements in computer software development,
the world isn’t clever ..this is clever….we can’t even track planes this good.
when you buy in to gt your buying into that whole thing…its not just a game anymore..its something special…as far as i can see no ones broke any promises yet…and this article shows there bang on schedule with what they did say they were going to do.
So think on you’ll never have to wait as long as we did for them to go back to the drawing board for GT5 so you’ll never have to from now on.. the system is right…and ready for all your future evolution..
this tech is not built specifically for 1 type of car. the USB idea is to show you it can be easily fitted to any car…and it looks like they bundled it in one easy piece of must have kit..
without this bit of technology a GPS coarse maker wouldn’t even be in the picture..
glimpses of the mobile app too ..this may be the RealTime factor they’ve mentioned once or twice.
if your still not convinced and you think your being ripped off then righting a review on amazon..product review..that’s how its usually done…we as fans in a community have no authority or affiliation with GT only we like it….who you telling? Us?..Get on Board you might like it..if not i’m sure theirs plenty of car games to keep you busy for a bit.till things live’en up..

  16. shepzki

I personally don’t mind this feature, if it is slated for a June release then almost certainly that will be June 2016.

‘Polyphony Digital, committed to bringing loyal fans the features nobody wants to a series we ruined a long time ago’.

  17. 1gt6freak

Sorry but for me, WHO CARES, like I go racing on la sarthe or the nurburgring or Laguna everyday, give us regular people features , who here will use this. I like GT6, but it’s starting to sound more and more like someone’s obsession than a driving simulator.

    1. catamount39

Completely agree with that, it’s a silly option only those who are going to buy an $150,000 GTR. How many people who own GT6 are going to buy that car and use that feature? Meanwhile…still missing the track editor and many other things. PD’s hopeless.

    2. GTP_Rex2000

i have said this before, its only a game. Enjoy it while it is there, thank god i dont plan on making a living from playing this game. I enjoy racing as much as the next but i will never buy a car that is $150 k, I would be lucky to sit in one. Thank you PD for giving us a game that can kill a lame ass friday night when the wife is working.

  18. stiggylab

I don’t think so many people would be so upset if PD or KAZ would occasionally give us an update as to what is going on with all the promised updates. Obviously this is not the first time this has been said. All I know is I paid a slightly higher finished game price, because I bought the anniversary addition, and have no anniversary edition cars because my car lot apparently ate them. The game is honestly not worth what I paid for it at its current state. The cars are way better, there are way more fantastic tracks, and the car graphics are far superior to that of GT5, even though I believe in most cases the cars are overly tail happy. But then again I’ve never driven a 458 or a Pagani. What really detracts from the enjoyment of the game are the glitches. If a game had been released by its creators as completely finished, and had this many glitches, the game would flop. The only reason GT6 is still not considered a total flop is because of the promises of updates and improvements, which we haven’t even gotten of late. People are getting fed up and swearing off of GT, while the veteran GT players are saying we don’t need them. Maybe we don’t need them, but GT still needs a fan base, and I honestly don’t believe GT can still keep going on if it keeps neglecting its fan base.

    1. research

actually dude, the veterans are starting to swear off at an accelerated rate.

It’s roughly the same rate of acceleration which PD is travelling, towards the bargain bin. Wait…

  19. catamount39

This did it for me, with all the issues like the crap online servers, sound issues, glitches and amount of missing content…if they don’t deliver on the up coming Senna DLC, I’d have completely given up on GT6 by now. And they expect me to buy GT7? Yeah right…I’ve been a playing Gran Turismo since GT3, and I can’t believe that this is the same company which made those amazing games. GT5 did start out very rough, but GT6 has brought it to a whole new level. Thanks a lot for ruining an amazing franchise PD.

  20. Lambob

am I the only one here to admit to watching this trailer 3 times, and not understand what it’s all about? collect data and recreate drive?

the one and only purpose I would see to use this, and it can save PD and Nissan from further embarassement, is to change every AI script in career mode of every single event, from the current AI, to the new Nismo-terminatorSkynet-selfaware-NissanAI.

otherwise, we as humans, will continue to use our own muster, and still defeat the Nismo-terminatorSkynet-selfaware-NissanAI.

  21. Hypergolem

Hey Kaz! I own a Ferrari 458 Speciale… why don’t you make something similar for me too… I will pay you more than $60… if that is what you want…

  22. Hentis

You know for people to say that “Kaz doesn’t care” I have to say that’s damn right disgusting and insulting to the man himself, and to the legacy of Gran Turismo. With out the Gran Turismo series where would the Playstation be today?

The game has its problems and lets say not everybody agrees with how the GT series is going. But to turn round and say the guy doesn’t care just because there’s been no update or people don’t like the sound or what ever. Its just down right insulting and quite frankly immature from people who should know better.

If he didn’t care he wouldn’t be producing anymore games or lets say it….. you’ll be looking at how Electronic Arts treats its user base across all type games and not just racing games. To be honest I like reading about the various GT related topics on GT planet and I have a lot of respect for Jordan and for what he’s done here. But as for bringing the comment section back I personally think its a big mistake.

Still. The needs of the one out weigh the needs of the many.

    1. TokoTurismo

Yes, Kaz doesn’t care. If he did, he would have not only be finishing the game, but also be responding to fans and their criticisms on the game, just like Dan did in Forza 5. You know I’m really hoping GT7 flops, and PD get’s caught with layoffs. They needs to be taught a lesson.

    2. Hekongaro

-He doesn’t care. He’s off organizing GT Academy Everywhere or driving race cars or making toys for GT-R owners.
-Kaz/PD are insulting the GT legacy more than anyone at this point.
-If GT dies something else will rise to fill the void. PlayStation doesn’t need GT to survive.

The game does have its problems, but that’s not why people say he doesn’t care. He doesn’t care about the fanbase because he’s not communicating with it. Instead he seems to be building a toy for GT-R owners.

Sad to say it, but EA treats its user base better than PD does. While they also fail at fixing bugs half the time they at least communicate. I’ve talked to DICE & BioWare devs a lot about their games. There’s no place to talk to Kaz or any other PD devs.

You’re right, the needs of Kaz outweigh the needs of the players.

    3. SZRT Ice

The amount of complaints is not so much a sign of people’s immaturity as it is a sign of the current state of GT6. More so, they are taking down GT5’s servers in a little over a month, leaving GT6 as our only simulated racing option on PS3. Not to mention people have been waiting for months on something they have already paid for but have yet to receive. With no word or communication on the issue at that.

I’d say how PD is treating/neglecting their fan-base and keeping them in the dark is more insulting, and disgusting. Their lack of public relations can be seen as “immature” as well. Not for nothing, just using those words, as they’re the words you used to describe dissatisfied fans, but when you say “Without the GT series, where would PlayStation be?”, I say, without the fans, where would GT/PD/Kaz be? We are their primary investors, and we are the ones they’re neglecting. These people aren’t disgusting nobodies here, many have followed GT since the first Gran Turismo (myself included), and are left with what seems to be little more than an update to GT3/GT4. And in some ways a downgrade from GT5. I hate to be commenting on this, but these people actually have a point at this stage. PD needs to speak up on the state of GT6 and it’s plans for it going forward.

I know of some who are selling/have sold GT6 or are considering it. Some will say the typical “well good riddance to them…” blazay blah and whatever rhetoric, but they are genuinely good people and fans of the GT series as well. Not complainers, or 8th graders. Just people who were expecting to get what they paid for, nothing more. It just feels as if GT6 was sold to us in beta form, but we paid the price of a full game for it. It’s that simple.

Now, if you want people to stop deviating from the topic, my suggestion is to stick to the topic yourself. That would likely be the best thing you can do until PD speaks up.

  23. vr6cas

I would really love to know the age of some of the complainers on GTPlanet, if some of you complainers are over the age of 13, you really need to be ashamed of yourselves. I mean I would expect this from an 8th grader, but not from some grown ass men. If you can’t see what kaz is doing and respect that, what is the point of coming to GTP everyday whining and complaining. If you don’t love driving and don’t love cars, this game is not for you. I can understand and agree on some positive and negitive feedback, but whenever Jordan post something thats car or GT related or like now, some cool technology that will trickle down to make the game better and more realistic, you all just bring the mood of Jordans post down.
    Grow up.

    1. Magic Ayrton

And who exactly are you to tell people to grow up? We paid for a game and we expect to get at least “some” of the promised features or maybe told when to expect them. How many people on here own a Nissan GTR?? We aren’t really interested in recreating our drive in a car priced at around £100,000!

    2. Hentis

The thing here is although not many people own a Nissan GT-R or in fact a car. The main problem is lack of communication from PD or Kaz himself regarding the readiness of “promised” content.
But that does not mean they are not working on it. PD are behind in getting updates released for GT6. It happens and why people cannot understand this is beyond me. We all want everything to run smoothly and want things now but in a fairy tale world (which some of the GT community languish in these days) then it may seem logical to perceive that…… but in the real world then no it doesn’t happen EXACTLY as its planned. It happens that life. Just get used to it. Bitching on and on and on about it and throwing your toys around really wont get it there any quicker. Sorry but that’s it. While it might not be directly linked to GT6 it still how ever is news. I know some people wont like to hear it but this is the REAL world and not their fairy tale world.

    3. Magic Ayrton

Yes Hentis, because we all play racing “games” because they are real… escapism is why I play, and that doesn’t really come under “REAL world” does it?

    4. SZRT Ice

It’s the state of affairs of all internet conversation. People come online to talk about how awesome things are, and to complain about how bad things are. It’s the circle of… I don’t know, internet chat?

We’re all happy to have GTP however, & hopefully Jordan understands. Inevitably, people just want their voices heard and change. Just like you, commenting on what’s bothering you, they’re commenting on what bothers them. I can’t blame you for your opinions, but I can’t say I don’t understand theirs. And as GT is played by a wide audience, young and old, calling people 8th graders is unfair. Because even an 8th graders opinions can have value, and you were once an 8th grader too. Just as long as they are in the guidelines, I don’t see an issue. As long as it’s relevant to the news article.

The real culprit is PD and the lack of confirmed content as of yet, plus the lack of info in regards to it. It’s been almost 4 full months since GT6’s release, and the bulk of the features advertised for GT6, the things that made many go out & purchase GT6, have yet to be implemented into the game. They should at least make an announcement in regards to it. And it should really come directly from the mouth of Kaz himself, not a representative. That would stop the complaining to a large degree, because at least people will know what is to come or not to come and by when to expect it or if they should expect it at all.

  24. SZRT Ice

This is more “Nissan” news than PD news. GTP is just reporting it. They didn’t even verify it as being for “GT6″, just that you can “recreate your drive on PlayStation”. It could just be a downloadable demo/feature (Nissan GTAcademy 2014?) for PS4.

It’s more like they’re trying to increase the Nissan brand name into the homes, hearts, and minds of millions worldwide using GT as the basis for delivery. To convince people “Nissans” are the best or something. Nissan, Gran Turismo, Nissan GT, Nissan GTR, Nissan GT Academy.

I’m feeling like Nissan… I mean PD… wow… should’nt have partnered with one company so heavily. It kinda makes them looked Nissan-biased. Like, if we just had a regular “GTAcademy”, we could have winners driving for all different types of raccing teams, instead of just Nissan.

Ugh, anyways… Way off topic here… Who here is actually looking forward to using this feature? I’m sure it will be popular @ the track. It may convince more racing teams to go Nissan so they can better simulate and adjust lap times. Maybe that’s just the goal after all. More cars on track = higher rate of brand presence = more Nissan sales in the long run. Hmm…

    1. MCNAGTROC

It is confirmed to be a feature for GT6 if you read my thread on it. For that to happen it also means the car has to be coming to the game As far as being closely partnered with Nissan, the Nissan GTR/Skyline has always been the backbone of the game. Its one of the main factors why the car gained popularity outside Japan to begin with. Kaz and PD even developed the GTR’s Display screen with technology and graphics straight from the game. He even races it along with GT academy drivers. Like it or not they are forever linked together

    2. vr6cas

+1 SZRT Ice I’m looking forward to this, this is some cool technology that 10 to 15 years ago this was’nt even thought of, and I believe this will make gran turismo an even greater franchise! :)

    3. vr6cas

+1 MCNAGTROC I can’t wait to this car is in the game, let me remind everyone, 7.08.xxx! I am going to the ring and recreate this record lap. And I can see kaz making an special event or a trophy for the GTR Nismo.

    4. SZRT Ice

      @ MCNAGTROC:
Understandable, but the same goes for many other cars/vehicles. I became a fan of numerous vehicles because of GT, the same goes for everyone. Not denying the GTR’s/Skyline’s heritage and presence in GT, but many people/fans of the GT series favor other brands and vehicles over Nissan’s. Gran Turismo is/should be bigger than Nissan, not the other way around. I surely wouldn’t be a fan of Gran Turismo if Nissans were the only cars available. I’m just saying, it kinda alienates other car companies from going but so far with PD.

Maybe I’m wrong in assuming this, but Kaz has all of these car manufacture’s data in his hands, but is strongly partnered with Nissan in the public eye. I can’t really imagine how well that would fare to some, unless other companies received similar treatment. Any’who, I’m not hating on Kaz or Nissan, just saying the doors suggesting that the doors should be equally open to others… And if they are, my bad.

  25. TokoTurismo

Yeah, Kaz really doesn’t care about GT and ESPECIALLY the fans anymore. Now he’s going off doing stuff like this as if anyone even cares…

I’m very close to deleting GT6 off my HDD on PS3. Sorry for sounding negative, I’m just mad. This is getting ridiculous now that Kaz doesn’t care, at, all.

    1. MCNAGTROC

And yes its true only the 52 owners in the US and 200 total world wide will really be using this… It does at least show there is new content coming in the form of a DLC car and not to mention what implications it has down the road for the game. Its one of those things that if the GTR NISMO or Nissan isnt your thing…fair enough move on…. but there arnt any negatives or reasons to complain about any of this. We have been in a desperate GT drought so any news is good news. This small feature isnt taking any time away from what everyone else wants in the game. This has been planned for a long time by PD and Nissan to launch with the GTR NISMO. Its a reflection of tech used during their stints at the Nur 24 the last two years

    2. research

Wait.. so this project has been going for 2 years, but it’s not taking any time/manpower away from the other, MUCH more basic and desired features that GT6 is sorely lacking?

Also, MCNAGTROC, this news is what tells you that there is content/DLC in our future, not the Zahara video, promised monthly track DLC, the freaking GT6 retail box, or GT5’s own update history?

I reject the notion that any news is good news, and your insinuation that we should quietly “move on”. I know the clip was posted by Nissan, but are even they not aware of how poor of shape GT6 is in?

  26. MCNAGTROC

Over the next few months I will try to keep everyone updated on just how this feature works with GT6. My NISMO doesn’t arrive until late July but I’m getting to drive one in May and I will see if I can get some additional info then. I think this will require some sort of app which I might not have access to until I get the car. I do hope at least we see it as DLC in June!

  27. biftizmo

This is not just some novelty item the can just throw into the middle of a game for a gimmick….data logging and GPS are at the fundamental core of GT since 2005 2006…its whats gonna take GT into the future as a major player in the car and racing industry….its back to the drawing board for all other games…not just racing…this is some bad a** super futuristic technology at birth here…

    1. GT5 Level 41

Providing you have access to the appropriate car and can get track time at the appropriate track. All for a ghost replay. I’ll take my course creator now.

    2. GTHEAD87

I’m with you GT5 Level 41. I don’t have access to any of the cars this data is gonna be used for. The closest track to me in GT is Brands Hatch which is about 500/600 miles away. Silverstone ain’t much further. I really do want the course creator more than 1 new track.

  28. GT5 Level 41

Unreliable source (PD). As info, retail in US market for a GT-R Nismo is $149,999. Very affordable for the GT6 demographic.

  29. Mellow70

“is set to be launched for the Nissan GT-R NISMO in June 2014.”

Ok PD, I want to believe you but nowadays you’ve lost your focus.

I’ll believe it when I see it!

    1. SZRT Ice

When we do see it, it won’t change the fact that they’ve lost their focus. Or then again, maybe this has been their focus all along, and their fan base’s focus is irrelevant. Maybe the people of this website aren’t really the people they are looking to for inspiration with the GT series and they are catering to a completely different demographic… Who knows what direction Kaz is going to lead GT in now?… (rhetorical)

    2. Mellow70

SZRT Ice, I see what you saying but their were still things that should have been release at launch and I’m not talking about courses and cars. The “Time Machine” mode was a DLC in GT5 and on that mode, of course we were able to test our cars to see how fast one another cars was. Now that GT6 is out, that should have already been included in GT6 but it’s nowhere to be found, and PD/Kas already talking about making GT7 when there is plenty that is still incomplete on GT6. That’s what I mean when I say they’ve lost their focus. They’re distracted by everything else and not focusing on what started the whole GT series in the first place. GT Academy is fine as long as PD is keeping up with the things that deserves to be in current GT title(s).

  30. HuskyGT

Yes! This is great news! Finally something nice, new and useful that will make me enjoy GT6 for much longer. Can’t wait for June!!

    1. HuskyGT

Now I need $90K for a GT-R. Heck, I don’t even like the car, but it’s GT6 related, so I have to get it!

And here we were, asking ourselves what were you working on. You’ve been working hard with Nissan to make one of their cars compatible with GT6. As a true fan, I appreciate this effort you’ve made for 100% of GT players. I’m sorry I ever doubted you, PD.

    2. GTHEAD87

Haha, loving it HuskyGT. It’s so true. Some people can’t afford an Audi S3, never mind a Nismo Skyline GTR. I do like what they are trying to do but they are losing customers/players by the day because they won’t put work into GT6 features that players can actually use. I really really miss the days of not being connected to PSN Playing GT4, Colin Mcrae Rally 2005, RBR without any worry of stuff not getting added or broken promises. Now a day’s its all about DLC etc. Almost loosing interest in games altogether.

    1. GTP_DeathStar

I’m sure it’s part of the agreement with Nissan that anything involving a GT game must have it’s own calendar that is different than a normal one; and it must remain a secret as to what pattern this PD calendar follows.

    2. Imari

You’re right Suomi, I’m sure Nissan picked the date out of a hat with no reference to Polyphony at all. They’re right bastards, those Nissan guys. Poor Polyphony, being forced to work for such slave drivers.

You know, it’s really hard to be that sarcastic, I think I might have strained something.

  31. ocd1920

“How to visually express driver-generated, real-time vehicle information, in a new, exciting way… Our challenge has just begun.” And I have the name for it, too! “Ghost Re-Play!”

Wonder if PD is losing sight of the real audience for the franchise? Or has the market reached a saturation point and there is very little financial return left to pursue.

    1. ocd1920

Doubt it. The development is with Nissan (and Toyota). PD is simply reading the data, crunching the data through their existing model, and splashing it on the screen. The user can then “play with the numbers” through the existing interface. I know this is an oversimplified explanation, but nevertheless, it seems to me that this is about all there is to it.

The question I would like to see answered by everyone is going out to buy a PS4 in order to try out GT7. Or should the PS4 and GT7 be bundled with your new GT-R? How about a Juke?

    2. TokoTurismo

“Kaz is going to need a bigger team. PD has just evolved into more than a game development company.”

Too bad the game isn’t evolving…

  32. TRLWNC7396

People, come on! Enough with the gripes! Do you REALLY think that this is the ONLY place this technology will be used? (!!!!)

I’m perfectly happy to have another company beta building on the track generator, thank you very much! ;)

    1. SZRT Ice

Considering GT’s partnership with Nissan… Yes, it will be. Other companies will have their own versions I’m sure, but this tech is PlayStation only.

  33. gt362gamer

Seriously PD, are you nuts? We are waiting for:

    1. Bspec
    2. Course creator
    3. Vision GT cars
    4. Sounds
    5. AI

And you are wasting time and money in this silly thing? Are you kidding us?! Unbelievable

    1. Amac500

We are not waiting on AI, they never said they were making any more changes to the AI. And you can’t blame them for VGT cars, they are at the mercy of the car companies as far as that goes. It’s up to the companies to design and unveil their cars. When one is unveiled and not included, then you can complain about that.

    2. SZRT Ice

      @ Amac’:
Just because PD never mentioned improving the A.I., doesn’t mean that
people aren’t waiting for it. But considering how many calculations go in to processing the movement of all these vehicles with their high pixel counts all rendered in high resolution with an improved* lighting, suspension system and tire model, I’d imagine that the A.I. being improved would take a heavier toll on the PS3 which barely has enough ram for all these features to begin with (as stated by Kaz himself) and likely will not happen un til the PS4 iterations of GT (GT7P* & GT7).

  34. MLRSparco

How about you let us know when the course maker and all the other features and fixes will be coming out before you try and “tease” us with more content that I highly doubt will come out in June 2014.Maybe he accidentally put a 4 instead of a 5.

    1. SZRT Ice

This is more “Nissan” news than PD news. GTP is just reporting it. They didn’t even verify it as being for “GT6”, just that you can “recreate your drive on PlayStation”.

Hmm…

  35. blackjack

I think Kaz should focus all his resources on the track creator (from GPS data) as I think this will effect a lot more of the GT6 population and make a bigger difference to the GT6 community.
