Assetto Corsa’s Console Release Has Been Postponed

As you’ve no doubt gathered from the title, there’s a bit of unfortunate news to report: Kunos Simulazioni and publisher 505 Games have announced that Assetto Corsa’s venture onto consoles has been postponed. While it will no longer release as originally intended, the new release dates have been confirmed to be June 3rd for Europe, and June 7th for North America.

While this is a bump on an otherwise promising road, 505 Games explains that the additional time spent in development will “ensure the console release delivers the most polished experience for simulation racing fans.” This bodes well for the console release of the game as it lines up with Massarutto’s insistence that the game would not be watered down when ported to the Xbox One and PlayStation 4.

When the awaited racing sim does land on consoles it will run at 1080p on the PS4, while the Xbox One version will have to sacrifice resolution at 900p. However, both versions will run at 60fps.

“We fought a lot to have full HD also on Xbox One, but there’s no way for us to do it. Forza did a very good job – but they have dedicated libraries. Regardless, they did a really good job. When I played the game, I thought ‘wow’. They’ve done such a good job with the visuals.”

What this means for the original PC version is currently unknown, but with the 1.5 update already in the pipeline, promising to completely overhaul the quality of the game’s tracks, the wait could definitely be worth it for console-goers.

Good. Take your time 505 Games. April was getting packed with for me personally anyway – with Dirt Rally, R&C and AC releasing a week or two apart.

Wow, this is such bad news I was so excited and looking forward to April. Guess my PS4 purchase is going to have wait a couple more extra months ); .

GTS launching before the console version of AC?

A bit off topic, but cmon, where you around for the last 3 launches by PD?

We’ve got many months (if not years) of hopeless speculation, cryptic comments from Kaz and PD with no official date, followed by ‘oh by the way this is not the full launch, this is just the beta or demo version’, only to wait another year or more for the ‘full’ launch.

We’ll be looking forward to launches of AC2 and PCars2 by the time a true GT7 title is a reality.

I agree with others that this is an excellent opportunity to dive into Dirt Rally.

PD are a bit like Bethesda, just turn up to E3 or gamescom or Jimmy’s birthday saying GT7 is coming next month

I know it’s all about the money GTP, but for the stupid 5 craziest homes taking over these news items is very annoying.

The video above the comments that destroys the load time and locks my browser. Yes, I know it’s nice to sell real estate on the website, but honestly, this one is just maddening……

I am totally with VetteZR1. My browser doesn’t freeze, but it keeps jumping/scrolling all the way down to where the video is playing on the page. So I am trying to read the article and it scrolls down automatically while I am reading. Then I have to scroll back up and find my place again. It does this like every 10 seconds or so. Really frustrating and irritating. This has happened on several other articles on GTP as well. It’s getting to the point where I just won’t read the articles anymore.

I am using Google Chrome as my web browser on Windows 7. Hopefully this helps whomever is responsible for putting these adds on the site. Hopefully you can get this fixed or I just won’t bother with the hassle of reading these articles, which would be unfortunate…

Summer is so wrong time to release games! It should be September.
Anyway, please Kunos, complete the game core before the release. Learn from other’s (SMS) mistakes.

Personally I think this is bollocks, developers should announce release dates when they are 90% sure they can deliver, not like this… Although I’m sure there’s gonna be people who are like uuuuuu yes another delay THAT SURELY MEANS THEY CARE ABOUT THE COMMUNITY AND THE GAME BECAUSE THHEY HAVE MORE TIME TO “POLISH” IT, even tho exacty opposite happened to pcars sooo jeaah

I’m sure they were 90% confident in their original release date. But when you’re right 90% of the time you’re wrong 10% of the time.

Maybe PD can beat them to the punch and release GT Sport before this comes out…….

I don’t doubt that this is really the case with AC, but consider GT5. It was delayed into oblivion and when it finally came, it was quite a mess.

Considering the soft dates for GTS beta have all been mentioned as spring/Q1 2016, I fully expect to see it before AC. I don’t think that’ll put too much of a hurtin on AC though. Anyhow GTS will probably just be delayed indefinitely :-|
