I tested CSP 0.3.110 in VR
Quest3 - OpenVR - open composite (https://gitlab.com/znixian/OpenOVR)
it runs really smooth.
Here are my CSP settings:

I activated real mirrors for this and deactivated "shadows limiting"

If you like test with these settings. I'm just trying to find out if the problems people have are "just" VR related and maybe my settings get the things better. Just for a start of solving the issue.

This are the video settings i use:
I lose 25fps with those settings, and the image quality is objectively worse too.
(RTX 4080, i9-13900k, Reverb G2 with Oasis drivers, OpenXR Toolkit)

Edit: FFS, despite selecting 'apply' and NOT 'apply and save' or 'save', these settings are now my defaults, even after restarting CM.

Back to 0.2.11 for me where performance is better, nav screens can be disabled, exhaust flames work, start lights work etc etc.
As always, it's been emotional.

Quick question, maybe track modders would know : do you have an API or a special manipulation to recall the ini files in the track data folder? i'm looking for a way to recall ai_hints.ini ingame. The fastcall for the Spline is not calling it - which i didn't expect much from, but maybe you have something for surfaces, cameras, crew, groove, lighting or whatever ini file the track is using. Worth a try.

Anyway, for my fellow fastlane makers, here's an AI Hints reader and error spotter.

EDIT : now it shows when ai_hints.ini have errors. It also highlights which hint the car you're following is into.

I'm still trying to find a way to edit the ai_hints in real time.

New version added in link, optimised the app so that it doesn't have any perf impact when not opened.
Update : doesn't report false errors on comments.

Opps, eye off the ball thought win 10 ended on 25th oct. I have two PCs, gaming one and the one i'm on now my desk top older job.
So main question is who is running win 11 and is it ok? AC works all fine with it etc etc...
I'm well nervous about switching.
Also if i don't switch am i going to get viruses and hacked and what not and ultimatley meet death head on?

I have been running it since day one, so like 4 years or so now.
It's years old at this point. Plus it is just W10 with some add-ons. I can't recall ever having any problems.
If you are hesitant to switch you can look in to the extended security update for 1 year.

Yep just did this for both, its free to do in the UK, so have 1 year, but most likely just go to win 11 after Christmas. Just a bit old skool so if it ain't broken and all that.....

Its been out for 4 years now, I got it from day one and still no regrets, everything runs fine, didnt had any bad update like many.

Puff oneself up is ugly, but here I share with you an excellent, comprehensive, unsurpassed, and perfectly narrated message on the subject at hand... 🧐

By the way, on one of my computers, a laptop that is several years old and does not meet the official requirements to work with Windows 11, I installed Windows 10 IoT Enterprise LTSC (support until 2032), and surprisingly, it recognized the original Windows 10 Home license that it had originally. What I don't know is if that decaffeinated version will go well with Assetto Corsa...

Hi Guys Im building a 1960 Phillip Island Track and I Need a Tree/Shrub like this but cant find anywhere would any of you guys be able to help me please
Check this website and see if there's anything that can work for you

Yeah i get that, but i'm used to it so i like to bide my time with stuff, i'll be upgrading my gaming PC after Christmas so it'll have windows installed as standard anyway. Just don't see the point in updating my current one yet based on that.
Credit to MS getting a further year long support for win 10 for free is brilliant, a lot of that was down to the EU and UK was still counted (i mean we are European's whatever that piece of paper says).

btw fyi, we already have more ideas for this beauty🤫
Re E34 M5, here you have a corrected plate.dds, since "Edition" was mis-spelled. Start with that one. ;=)

Put it into skin folder "266_LagoonGreen Metallic" and remove the .txt and let the file be overwritten.

I spent many hours yesterday testing, swapping between 0.2.11 and 0.3.0 and found a performance drop too due to cpu spikes.
I also run a G2 on the Oasis driver which is more cpu hungry than the old Windows Mixed Reality.
The spikes occur when the AI pack are heading into a slow corner, fast sweeping corners not a problem. The spikes are 3 to 4 times the regular cpu timing so from around 3.5ms to over 12ms causing a frame stutter at 90Hz. I think it may be 1 spike per car arriving at the corner, but difficult to be sure. It is definitely something worth investigating.
I thought buying a 9800X3D would serve me well for the forseeable future in AC but it has its limitations with only 8 cores. Before moving to the Oasis driver for the G2 headset I could run 100 cars at Nords without it breaking a sweat. Starting to use Oasis dropped that down to 75 presumably as it is reserving a core for its operation and now with CSP 0.3.0 I'm down to 50 cars as each car is seemingly requiring more physics calcs.

All this said I have decided to stick with the 0.3.0 subject to testing on the online LAC 75 car traffic server which would be a deal breaker for me. I'm sure the lights will return, I've turned back on the shadows and turned off the kn5 loader just in case.

(All tested with an HP Reverb G2 VR headset supersampled @ 400% with 9800X3D / 5090)

I cant remember who said it on here recently when talking to Peter about Pure and having one single drop of rain temporarily tank their FPS and performance - i can now vouch i have experienced this too. And it was on a "dry" setting, so there is definitely something going on with Pure in certain circumstances. Im happy to share the weather file...if it helps get to the bottom of the issue.

Sergio Loro has released 60's Westwood:

Special thanks to @Tetri for his AI lines & finetuning!!

Additional skins for the circuit to be released soon.

What do you use? Pure static or dynamic weather controller and which weather do you use if you test this.
Did you already have a look in the Pure Planner settings - Weather presets. In the weather where you have this problem with setting rain, what are the settings there?

DumbAI 0.04 update here :

- @Tetri added an UI : big up !

- modified deeply the blue flag behavior after extensive tests

I made extensive simulations (still with CSP 0.3.0 / Pure 2.61); track Monza 88, MP4/4 1988 (Overtake Syncmaster version mixed with VRC version for sound)

When I joined the forum, I found that @Apocalypse211, @Carpocalypse and others were quite crazy with all their simulations with AI level and aggression experiments: I have to confess I have learned a lot since then and mentally apologize :D

So my tests were performed with a global AI level of 75% with 5% variation range and 0 aggression.

And my grid is the following (AI level / AI aggression level):

Senna: 100 / 40
Piquet: 87 / 30
Nakajima: 80 / 50
Palmer: 80 / 0
Bailey: 70 / 0
Mansell: 85 / 25
Patrese: 80 / 15
Arnoux: 75 / 20
Johansson: 70 / 30
Alboreto: 85 / 25
Berger: 85 / 10

With this configuration, on a 10-laps race, I have very slow runners that I can overlap after only 5-6 laps and very often, there is a train of late runners that the leaders (Senna and me, Alain Prost ^^) meet at lap 8-9. And well, quite embarassing for me , but this is the only configuration where I can follow Senna without crashing too much : a 1:33 per lap is sufficient to keep just behind him and watch what's happening when he's overlapping.

I did these tests because the DumbAI 0.03 worked quite well when the human was overlapping, but the AI still had issue to overlap.

My main observation is that the AI does not know well how to overtake when the speed is too low compared with the common speed it would expect in this spline position. So just reducing the throttle limit was not sufficient, you don't avoid the pile up as the leader is just stuck behind the slow car and seems to follow that same throttle limit.

I tried the physics.setAIStopCounter() method which seems to be the only way to simulate braking. It worked very very well, a very efficient way to make the AI overlap. Just one second after the trigger of DumbAI for blue flag, the leader has overtaken. But it is very brutal with complex behaviour, I saw some crashes for the overlapped AI. And more important, if this is a train of leaders that is overlapping, the overlapped AI stopped completely as the setAIStopCounter() is triggered for too long and it messes up things.

So I ended with physics.setAITopSpeed() with a setting of 90 kmph max and an lateralSplineOffset of -1/1 for the overlapped AI. With this settings, the AI overtake decision making is a bit longer than with setAIStopCounter , it still loses some time but it seems it does not get stuck anymore and overall , it is much more realistic, there is much less problem for train of leaders.

Obviously, many tests have still to be performed with different kind of cars and tracks to validate but now you should be able to experiment different values without having to modify the lua code, thanks to Tetri !

For the next versions, I would like to add pit strategies by creating a AI class that would keep track of the different compounds that were used and apply for example the rule " to have to mix different compound in the race "

@Apocalypse211 Hi there, have you ever considered to look deeper into the SDD 1996 F1 season cars? Are they based on GP4 models? I miss these season along with a proper 1995 car set in AC.

I could. I'm just extremely busy at work at the moment. But yeah... that'll be a cool season to drive.

2012 too. But that's too new for AC and modern F1 rules. I mean the consistency and authenticity wouldn't be there.

But 1996 is very much do-able. The TV graphics didn't change much from 1994, either.

Since my new pc build last spring with win11 and a fresh AC install, I can say no problems at all.

I'm not a fan of the UI, The fact that i need to pres "view more options" when right clicking to get old UI i find rather annoying and the fact that most if not all settings seems to be tied to an app that i need to download on their microsoft store thing annoys me to no end.

Other than that it's fine. But i guess the boogey man that steals your data and sells your information is very prominent somewhere on people's mind. Yet they have no issues logging into this website and most likely many others without a care in the world xd

Heh!, I thought the same thing after updating... but there's always a computer nerd with too much free time somewhere in the world who finds a solution to these problems... Search your favorite browser for "How to enable the classic context menu in Windows 11".

To be a permanent change, you must fiddle with the Windows registry, which is quite scary for the uninitiated like me... In fact, when I ran the command I used, the computer froze and I had to shut it down by holding down the physical power button. But after the restart, everything was back to normal, with its glorious old context menu actived.

Something interesting I noticed while looking at this app called AC World in Overtake.gg. In this video he's showing off all the various features, but at the start of the video and around 1:20 you can see he's doing an offline AI race with a countdown timer instead of lap counter similar to ACC. Which I thought was not possible in the vanilla game. I would love to test this out right but I'm not at home right now.

[EDIT] Please ignore this post I was just curious if you could do offline time races

W11Debloat and the Chris Titus Utility pretty much have everything you need between them to make W11 function like previous windows versions, adjust settings and remove default apps you don't use, and remove a lot of the telemetry and spying. I've had really good luck with these.
