So since I recall there being some speculation about it (which was pretty much disproved when the EGT pack redux came along) just to draw some attention to it, the V2 version of the URD Ferruci 926T is a free upgrade for anybody who owns the old V1 version from 2023.

I've set it up. But everyone else keeps driving at full throttle, even though I've set it to 30%. Most of the time, the AI doesn't even pull into the pit lane, it just keeps going. Only when I'm actually in my spot are they all suddenly there. Is this a CSP bug?

Could be. I'm on 0.3.0p212. The ai do perform the cool down lap, but not at the throttle % I've chosen...seemed to be way faster, but they do enter their pit box and stop, then wait for me to enter your pit box before the race results display instantly at that point.

Damn, wish I had some of these videos sooner. I got things way off. I see Lesmo and Ascari have wider kerbs with no carpet\concrete runoff area (whatever they are called) anymore. The sand goes right up against the kerbs now.

I'm not sure I have it in me to try and fix things. It's such a frustrating process because I don't know what i'm doing. I'll spend an hour or more in Blender doing what I think is right only to find out I screwed up something once I load it in the game and have to start over.

I'm glad they were helpful; Monza in winter is truly depressing. 😅
You're already doing a great job for the community. If you enjoy it and it doesn't stress you out, don't give up. Sooner or later, everything will become easier. And I'm telling you this as someone who modding other games for many years, even destroying a marriage (but maybe that was a good thing 🫢), so now my rule is "if it stresses you out, forget it, do something else, think about having fun, your time is precious." If, on the other hand, you don't have to give up anything else in your life, keep at it and don't give up. You're talented,boy! 💪😉

Necroing about safety from a couple of post ago! Here something about safety copy/paste, from X4fab Patreonsite, how small it looks who knows it can be helpfully:

Sadly, it looks like we’re starting to see some bad-faith modders in the community. So, I thought I’d make a small post with a few recommendations, and work on making CSP a bit safer.

First of all, please keep an eye on the type of content you’re installing, and if you’re not using Content Manager to install a mod (or if it’s being installed as a generic mod), glance through the files to see what actually is being added. If it’s something like a new car, or something else contained within the “content” folder, it’s perfectly safe. But if a mod adds anything to “apps”, “extension”, “launcher”, “plugins”, “server” or “system”, or if it includes any DLL (or EXE for you to run), such a mod can, potentially, do anything it wants on your system, so please check those mods thoroughly. Especially if it’s a stolen mod: those are sometimes repacked by third parties, so some of the files might be edited.

With the original Assetto Corsa, there are plenty of ways a mod could add its own logic. Apart from obvious stuff like including its own version of Reshade DLL or adding a new Python app, they could also alter launcher logic, add a new AC plugin, adjust one of JS files loaded by the original launcher, swap Python libraries (either standard or AC ones). And, to be clear, the original Python apps of Assetto Corsa can do anything they want. If anything, they can do a whole lot more compared to Lua apps, but those also have pretty much no limits. And when it comes to this type of thing, if a script can as much as simply save a file somewhere within the Assetto Corsa folder, that’s already more than enough to compromise data files.

Now, Custom Shaders Patch adds a lot of other types of scripts for all sorts of tasks. Ever since adding script support to Content Manager (which allowed us to have much nicer, if static, weather conditions back in the day), I was always fascinated by how much flexibility can be achieved with a simple Lua script. But, the way the whole thing is currently set, those scripts aren’t a weaker alternative to Lua apps. If anything, Lua apps are the weak ones, with delayed loading, and sometimes loading skipped altogether. A specialized script — such as Pure (a great WeatherFX style by Peter Boese) — loads first, and has full access to your file system and other processes! So, all the scripts you’re installing explicitly (with CM warning you about potential dangers), and going to CSP settings to enable explicitly — including post-processing scripts, GamepadFX scripts and more — all can do pretty much anything. That’s how Pure can edit configs and load extensions, how Curved Monitor filter can export settings, it allows for Mobile GamepadFX script to exchange data with the phone, or for Wooting keyboard script to read analog values from those keyboards. It also allows for traffic mode to load missing assets, and more.

There are only three exceptions: car scripts (both regular and physics), track scripts and, of course, online scripts. Those are the scripts you might not be aware of installing, and they are fully sandboxed and can’t really do anything like saving files.

In the next update, I’ll add something for CSP to ask each time before starting a new script with full files access, and something for scripts to opt-out of that access. But even with that addition, I ask you to still be cautious — a malicious mod could always find a way to circumvent some of these protections, like replacing a config of another mod changing its behavior in a potentially threatening way. Using Content Manager to install mods and keeping an eye on its warnings should be enough though.

For extra safety, I’m also going to add some settings for blocking out scripts entirely, and maybe something that would prevent sandboxed scripts from accessing the internet (although, that might break some things like Android Auto or online scripts).

Being anxious about these things, I checked all the .dll files present in the indicated folders, the only suspects are the ones below, do you have them too?

Instead, as far as .exe files are concerned, these are the ones I found, even here if anyone notices something suspicious, I think it could be useful for everyone to share this information:

Checking the full list, it surprised me that RFactor 2's all-time peak wouldn't even make it top5 in this list. I see it recommended so often that I thought it'd be a lot more popular.

I was learning about [CustomEmissive] and decided to fix (and share) the light bulbs not glowing on Indianapolis Motor Speedway 2.0 by damone13x.
Install the track
Install Indianapolis GP facelift extension 0.96 by BoBaHK
Install Indianapolis (damone13x) shader overhaul and night lights 4.3 by Rainmaker

Replace the ext_config.ini (remove ".txt")

NOTE: the code I've added at the end of Rainmaker's ext_config.ini is from CrisT86. I only added a couple of [CustomEmissive] sections and some other little twicks.

Would it be possible for you to paste the lines you changed into your data.acd file? For some reason, even after renaming the .txt file, my PC still shows it as a text file.

I also find AC Rally numbers crazy low, considering how much hype there has been. It's a decent rally game and will hopefully get even better as time goes on.

F125 numbers aren't flattering, either... considering how popular F1 as a sport is. And F1 25 is a decent game. Nowhere near as good as F1 2020 but I played two full seasons of 25 and quite enjoyed it. Absolutely superior AI to any other racing game, not even close. Of course the huge majority of the F1 series players are in the console so the number is not really comparable.

Le Mans Ultimate has taken over from ACC obviously, although ACC is solid and still going strong. I prefer the LMU for GT3 cars though. Never really liked how ACC drove. There's something unnatural about the driving feel just like on EVO... other than that it's a superbly made sim and I think I have 200 hours on ACC/Steam.

The reason why I'm critical about ACC is that we have so many truly amazing racing simulation games. We're completely spoiled and AC1 is still the benchmark.

Just think how bad FIFA (or FC whatever they call it now) and PES are. Biggest sport in the world and their major games are pure arcade garbage. You can play 15 min halfs and get ZERO fouls in the whole simulated 90 minutes. How's that for realism, huh? And only two crap games to choose from. EA ruined Madden and NHL too.

If you look at the sim numbers overall, they are very low. Sim racing is relatively small thing in the gaming genre for obvious reasons... you need proper wheel and rig, etc. Considering that, it's even crazier how many great sims we actually have.

AC Rally is low right now cos the system specs are relatively high and also content is small. But their roadmap is super impressive so I think numbers are going to start climbing as they release updates. LMU was the same, small numbers to begin with but now has regular higher numbers as the content has increased.

LMU has good physics, but honestly their attitude towards their customers on discord is shocking and they don't care about anything but coining the multiplayer, so its just another iRacing.

AMS2 is my personal favourite now, has been for a while, but this 2005 update just got so much right it was amazing. Can't wait for their stuff to come out this year. Unfortunately it'll never shake the stigma of its original physics, so the numbers will never get as high as they deserve to be.

It is. Just think about EVO approach.

1. You already have the best sim racing physics ever made (just ask Max Verstappen)
2. You have unlimited modding which made AC1 the eternal legend that it is now

They take two things that made AC a legend. And instead building around their new game around that legendary foundation (and fix the issues like AI, lack of flying starts, lack of blue flag AI, lack of modern F1 rules, lack of good oval AI, bouncy/slippery kerbs etc), they decided to throw it all away and start from the scratch. They probably never heard the old saying "Don't fix what ain't broken".

Even vanilla AC is magnificent. My brother has only a console and he's hotlapping the vanilla AC with his 12y son. It drives 100% same as the PC version. Sure it's only good for hotlapping and drifting but it's still great fun... and the actual driving is still from the other planet compared to any other driving sim. Yes including iRacing and LMU. And you can buy the Ultimate AC1 version for just a few euros. People who say that "AC1 is only good with the mods" are braindead. It's the best racing sim even without the mods.

Sim racing isn't really going anywhere. Many new titles come but they haven't got the driving feel as good as AC1. That's crazy. But then again we already have so much so no complaints from me. I just find it weird.

I'm amazed @Tetri a wonderful excuse to take the Capri Zakspeed on track again.

To make it simple (i swear i'll try to make it clearer):
My guess is you would use the DRM Aero (that's the zakspeed i've been using).

Unpack the car data, open the engine.ini. Spot the maxboost and the damage turbo boost threshold.

You can now apply those values to your script.

ac.setTurboWastegate(0, 1.49, false) is the highest you can go with no engine damage for the AI.
the script would look like this (available for download in the linked file)

If you were playing without damages and wanted the AI to have max power, you could set the wastegate to 1.58.


Is it easier this way?

It's been a quick attempt for me to force the Ai to use full turbo rather than its stupid 80% limit, but the main goal would be to have access to ALL setup values. I've seen numerous players there and there who would enjoy to make setups for the AI to use. It's not on my todo list rn but if anyone is interrested or want to have a test script, hey, let me know.

Just let you know I did made a small writing on security to detect the naughty mods. It’s something real simplistic all based on my experience and my adventures on computers. Keep in your mind I’m not pretending to be the scientist on what has intrude your computer. It’s more of an simple manual for noobs
It’s not being perfect as I realizes that :

• I must write down in a more general approach and not specific in Virus, malware, trojan or whatever it’s named.
• While on mods now everyone will thinks it’s only the track & cars mods and not apps, lua, python scripts, skins, PPfilters etc etc. I must be clearer on this.
• Did find a great Reddit wiki with a perfect overview that I will include.

So I will change that. Changed by V2.
Other remarks like a spell faults, not working links, wrongly stuff, please let me know by pm.
One request, before it’s faded away in the massive other post: It would also be great that couple of members would ask to the moderators for pinning my topic, (link below) as I think it’s also a good warning for other members to be vigilant on what they download for AC.

A lots of mods are generated for Assetto Corsa, made by very talented guys. But after reading some warnings about security issues with mods and on Assetto Corsa game itself, we need to defend our precious PC. I do hope this writing will help the member who do have less knowledge on computer security. I have to use an .pdf file attachment as I can not publish the used print screens at GTplanet. It's working with CSP 0.2.11. It stopped working after 0.3.xx. Anybody with understanding of CSP crash dump reports?

They are frankly not as perfect as they could. Especially the start finish camera where it just abruptly cuts to the car making it look and sound terrible.

I got no idea how to make my own camera's for tracks so though i'd ask if someone in here knows how to deal with it? Preferably without the camtool app since i don't use it at all.

A nice reminder of how great the modified AC is to so many.
All those happy players grateful to the magic of Ilya, leading a fearless community of modders, making AC such a great alternative that sometime for many of us it feels like the only sane alternative.
Yes, other title, super limited in scope, can scratch a small itch, but AC is so much more.
As a an exclusive VR driver, I could easily live with only Modified AC to fulfill my daily dose of racing simulation.
Yes, I indulge in other titles here and there, most of the time wondering why, when getting back in AC, as if their main purpose was to remind me that even if AC is not perfect, is it a lot more perfect than all the other.

Go into the track folder, go to mills_short\data or mills_long\data and re-name camera_facing.ini to something else (for safety reason I would not just delete it, I always just put a 1 into the file name). Should work then.
