Answering several in this post. Not nice to hear that.
But I think all the sharing communites are like this. Some of my F1 seasons on Youtube have over 3000 downloads,.videos have over 10K views and the best videos have 100+ likes. Some much more amazing track mod videos on Youtube have way less. People don't even bother to give a thumbs up. That's way too much to ask for. Some even give thumbs down after downloading the freebies. I did every single ad banner for the 2004 tracks. Worked my ass off for weeks, collected all skins together to make a full 2004 grid (finally)... then created the period correct HUDs.... Modded the cars and tested them excessively that they definitely work on every track and pit at the correct times. It didn't get much attention at all. It's not just something people are interested in... they only want 2025 stuff (which, imho is not even possible to emulate on AC that well).
But it doesn't bother me the slightest. The main motivation should always be that YOU yourself enjoy doing it and also enjoy playing it. I wanted that season because I wanted to play it. And I have. But then a few like minded people come and love to play that season too. That's the reward. Creating niche stuff like that will never appeal to the masses. 2004 is so far away. Many people in the sim community are barely born in 2004. Just think about the 70's stuff you made... that even more niche stuff.
And I'm not even a proper modder. I can't build tracks and cars from the scratch. I can only do some simple mods, change banners and actually create a playable season. The really cool thing is that there are like minded people who like classic F1 season simulation. I love to chat and share race results and lap times with them so I'm not complaining... at least they get downloaded and a few people play them too. Just imagine how many hundreds of great mods (bult cars and tracks) went completely unnoticed. Way better stuff that I could ever do. We have too much good stuff on AC. People are spoiled.
I doubt anything like AC will ever come again. EVO won't be like this... those companies are way too greedy and there's no way to make money from this kind of platform. It has just created this Patreon "subculture" for "better mods" which doesn't help Kunos at all. Think it this way: The 70's stuff you have created is simulation racing history in many ways. Just like Caesars Palace 1982 and Dallas 1984 tracks... or Dijon 1979.... those would never, ever come to any commercial sim because only a fraction of people are interested (or even know they exist). But to me (as a F1 history nutcase) they're amazing... although the tracks themselves aren't that polished. But we can drive those circuits which is WILD. They will never be noticed even by AC community that much... but they matter to ME and I really, genuinely enjoy driving them... and "reliving" that amazing era of racing.
I'd say don't do any work for other people. Don't even think how many likes or compliments you get. Do the mods only because YOU want them. That's what I do. I want to play the stuff I create... and actually drive them too... so I never get disappointed even if the reception isn't that great.![]()
1- Yes, my Nvidia graphics card (6GB) and my RAM (16GB)Certainly before changing my processor, intending to upgrade (video card + RAM) first.
2- Regarding your comment about mods, I feel almost the same way. I make small adaptations or small conversions to cars, initially for my own fun (to recreate as much as possible), races or various historical championships (from the last century...).
I also like modern cars (both formulas, GT3, prototypes)...but sometimes it's a "flood" of nearly identical models from "various modders".....
I believe there's still room (for those more experienced in creations/modifications) for classic car models still waiting to be created.Regarding tracks (I don't even risk it, as I don't have enough capacity).
Regarding your simulations/championships/HUDs...they're excellent.
I haven't even had time to download or enjoy many of them yet...I'm still recovering from the loss of some of my Assetto content.
Only after almost 5 months (I managed to redo and restart) my "Mille Miglie 1955" simulation.
Finally, regarding the question of commenting (words of encouragement or thanks), speaking for myself, I always try to be as grateful as possible to everyone who contributes in some way here on the forum or in other private groups (what I download regularly).I still have a small debt: I made a short tutorial (conversion, car adaptation in 3dsimed...) with the little I learned (trial and error), but I'm always learning new things.
I believe that's how the community works.
