I’m looking for guidance on what can be done to make changes to camera-facing billboards using CSP configs, if anything?

Is there a way to make camera-facing crowds cast shadows with a CSP config?
As I understand it you cannot make camera-facing billboards cast shadows simply by editing the camera_facing.ini, and all of my attempts with Ai suggested fixes have not been successful. It would only be used on standing crowds.

Is there a way to correct the illogical lighting of camera-facing crowds with a CSP config?
I have previously noticed that with camera-facing crowds it be very difficult to set shader values that work in relationship to the surrounding textures, and I have finally figure out what the problem is. The camera-facing crowds appear to be illuminated from behind. See attached comparison between shots taken mid-morning and mid-afternoon. In the mid-morning shot the sun casts a show from the fence behind the camera that illuminates the vertical concrete surfaces but does not illuminate the crowd billboards, who are instead well-lit when the sun is coming from behind them. As illustrated, the problem is not just due to contrast with surrounding objects, they actually get lighter as they should get darker.

I have tried different PP-filters and the CSP configs I have tried have not change anything.

In camera_facing.ini you can set
SHADED=1 (or 0) ; If shadow will affect the crowd.

DIFFUSE=0.014,0.014,0.014 ; How bright the object will be under the sunlight.
AMBIENT=0.075,0.075,0.075 ; How bright the object will be in the shadow.
 
@benbaron , @X90, and anyone who is using the Gt4 from guerilla offline:

Obviously sub optimal considering i'm using my Aiwhisp drifting preset for vintage cars, but can anyone test Magione with the Gt4 Vantage and see what would be a proper lap time? With just a few tweaks they seem pretty competent. I'm not pulling out the rig today so i can't have a go at it. If it sounds good it might be time for another aiwhisp update that includes the throttle/positionning inputs the AI is using in the vid.



Is there a particular model from the pack that needs tweaking?

Just in case here's the fastlane and ai hints i'm using :

I have an unusual question. Why does the McLaren MCL38 from Deploy look darker from a distance? As it gets closer to the camera, it takes on the correct bright color. What causes this, and how can I change it so it doesn't change color from a distance?

I'm having this problem. I've uploaded a video on YouTube showing what's going on with this model. It's weird.


I will add that the McLaren MCL39 from Deploy only has this problem with the painting at the rear of the car. Nose is ok.

Try set "smart shadows" distance higher
 
Hi guy's.
I'm having an issue with replay mode. When I launch it, my car appears with the driver's door open, even though it wasn't open during my session. Any ideas?

No issues here, must be something with your CSP settings or installation.

Have you installed the car manually, without drag/drop into CM?
Try Kunos' Monza. The first track camera shows the car moving from a distance. It's even more visible in the video because I disabled all the graphical enhancements in CSP and minimized the settings in AC.
The McLaren MCL39 only has a tint problem at the rear. The front looks the same from a distance as it does up close. No other car has this problem.

It can't be LOD because Deploy's McLaren MCL39 has the same problem in the rear of the car. The nose doesn't have this problem. If it were LOD, the entire car would have it.

Now I know what the problem was. Smart Shadows in CSP... Just like Mikis94 wrote. I was nitpicking the model because after disabling all graphics options in CSP, the problem persisted. And now it turns out the problem was Smart Shadows.

I'm stupid.

Here I go again with the download issues. I got the following "errors" when I downloaded this car.



I skipped these files and let the process finish. Went into AC and checked if the car downloaded. It did. It seems to drive normally (great job @JK1977 as usual) and there doesn't seem to be any obvious issues. But I don't know what those missing files are.

I don’t have a problem with people improving or making changes to my mod (that’s why I keep my mods open), but it would be better if you posted it here so everyone can download and test it.
Also, creating a new file and changing the version to something like v1.1.1 is not a good idea because it confuses people. If something in the mod is broken, that version will keep spreading on the internet. In the end, people come to the original modder and say the mod is broken, even though it was fixed 5 versions ago.

Has come to my attention that @marc magnela boyfriend ACTK has decrypted our stuff. As such anything from us will most likely never be public in the future, The Porsche i essentially canceled. Unless we can find a way to prevent this for the future.

Our bad for thinking that people could just let content not made by them just be, Sorry to those that are not like them. But yeah, I wont provide the community with high quality content if low life thieves is just going to steal my stuff that i paid for to be made available to everyone to then steal, upload on various 3D sites to make money off.

Thank you for the suggestion, I had in fact settled on near identical values for Diffuse and Ambient shading.

Changing the Shaded to 0 has not made any change that I have been able to see, on this or other tracks I have tried the change value on.

To give another illustration of the problem, the below image shows the concrete spectator seating at night, where the vertical surfaces are being illuminated by the ambient light from the Kyalami pits facing it. So the vertical stand surfaces are being illuminated correctly, but not the camera_facing billboards.
Whilst radically increasing the Ambient value would lighten the overly dark crowds in this lighting condition, it would then also require massive adjustment to the Diffuse value to compensate in normal lighting conditions. In fact, when I tried i was not able to reach a Ambient value that would generate reasonably light crowds in this situation, where Diffuse value was already at zero to compensate.
So what we really need is a way to change how camera_facing billboards are lit, so that as illumination from the front increases the crowds get lighter, like their surroundings, and not darker, as they do now.

Guerilla's GT4 update has some preview update issues. This is the result of updating the previews for the Chevrolet Camaro GT4.R with the standard Kunos preview setting... Failed to decrypt texture "EXT_Mechanics_Colour.dds"

I'm currently using CM 0.2.11, any help would be very appreciative.

Are you trying to extract it from the Windows Explorer? I've noticed issues with it before, if you are, try something like 7-Zip to open the archive and extract it that way.
