For anyone who may be wondering, yes it is possible to skin the BMW M3 Touring 24H

And they can look very good too.

Thanks for the replies, CSP settings attached. Guess I should remain patience to see if the next update improves.

Ilja mentioned this, but not understanding it 100%:

"After all this time, I finally figured out what was wrong with linear color space material conversion that was causing all the materials to lose their shine. The updated conversion brings materials with LCS a lot closer to the way they used to look with old rendering. Unfortunately, it can lead to broken materials if those were specifically adapted to LCS, but hopefully it’ll be fixed soon. And if not, I’ll collect the list of broken mods and hardcode the exceptions for them for the next update."
It means that with the start of LCS Ilja rewrote the shaders and the specular part, so the part where the direct sun reflections are calculated did not reach the levels they should have. So the suns reflections were damped and so they could not trigger the post processing glare effect for example.

Now in the recent CSP previews those reflections have the same tonal brightness like the sun itself and so they can trigger the glare like the sun, which is like it should be…

Thanks for your reply and continuous work on Pure, Pete, I agree that screen shots seems to look better in race now, but I am wondering if does not do the same for preview. Could it be due to the showroom not using sunlight?

Any chance you can share your settings file? Are you using the pure linear filter? Thx

in the CM previews you cannot change the filter.
For the settings have a look here.

Guys i need some advices about treefx in replays: in race i get solid 60+ fps on mp pc but as i watch replays (on a track with 3d tree mods, ex: nords) i get massive fps drops on the camera angles where trees included. what can be done to get rid of this in csp without uninstalling 3d trees?
Why do you need 3d tress on a 2d screen? they often don't look better, your eyes do not focus on the trees, and you get massive frame loss.

Speaking of the ACL WSC cars, is there a specific reason why the WSC60s pack cars don't have an auto throttle cut on upshift when running autoclutch/autoblip? All of the GTC60s cars I've tried do have it, most of the TC Legends cars have it, but the ACL prototypes, GTR Legends, and TA Legends cars don't seem to have it either.

I tried to race them recently with our league group that is pretty freshly onto AC, trying to get them into racing more vintage stuff. Some them are pretty new to the whole wheel/pedals/sim thing coming from Forza, some are on cheap setups with no clutch pedal/shifter, and some others normally run almost exclusively LMDh/Indycar/GT3 and don't need/want to spend on a shifter. Was tough to convince them to drive powerful old slidey cars anyways, but pretty much all of them found it really annoying and didn't want to keep running them. To be honest I kinda get it, it does feel pretty unnatural to lift while shifting with the paddles, especially for the guys with tons of mileage flatshifting their GT3s and stuff.

I did some reading about how to add the auto throttle cut to the drivetrain.ini so I could "fix" some of the TC Legends cars, but I guess the WSC60 cars are encrypted or something because when I try it on them they just break the models.

Super exciting to hear there are more ACL packs on the horizon though.

Driver hand animation seems to be glitched, doesnt match steering position

Actually it is the driver who is not optimally positioned. A few clicks in custom showroom allowed me to move the driver slightly higher, forward and tilted so my driver now is having very good hand movement and shifting animation.
I would like to share my alterations, but I am not sure which file from the car folder I should share.

Also corrected the flip in the ext mirrors and set the inside mirror to monitor.

All good now, great car.

Alright I've slept on this thing long enough so here it is. The whole 2007-11 Indycar skinset shebang ported from RF2 (which itself was ported from RF lol).

This has taken me a whole ass month because it was the most tedious, boring, mind-numbing thing to do so if there are : missing helmets, wrong configs, wrong names... It's gonna stay that way. I also gave up halfway through adding the oval aero to the right skins so you'll have to do it yourself - I'm done with this **** and I realllllyyy don't wanna see another Dallara IR-05 in my life lmao

- 465 skins across those four years condensed into one package because **** having to do it again for the oval car.

- custom driver (cobbled together by lack of skills) needed and given so most of the helmets are there.

- gotta install said driver model in the right folder tho.

- possibility to switch the visual parts from road to oval with the good ol' ext_config trick

- added tyre_fx stuff so the cars can have those alt tyres thingies from 2010 onwards (but I think I have those switched, cba to fix it)

- custom liveries icon to better distinguish the years

- separate car so it won't overwrite the original POS.

* Panoz not included so three skins are missing

Bassman58 - Indycar 2011 skins
Chris Lesperance - for porting all of those to rf2

Me being Chris, I can concur with your assessment of "most tedious, boring, mind-numbing thing to do" LOL! The rF2 version also has the specific mirrors and attenuator. So I had to take it to one more level! I didn't realized until I started converting the skins that there were that many that were made. Kudos to all those authors.

All of that work, just in time for MaxSTDT's new version of the IR-05!

That would go against all techniques driving those deathboxes, wouldn't it? There's a real pleasure in learning how to use engine brake and pedal rotation/feet driving with those cars. You cannot make them go fast anyway without learning a little about their specificities.

Also, the pleasure of dealing with traction mistakes by shifting too fast/with throttle still engaged is a power exit technique by itself.

you can learn how to blip manually even with paddles, it's extremely easy (i have multiple vids using the technique), and it's a cool feature to use on a lot of cars to maintain grip while decelerating. As for any car, sometimes the real pleasure comes from the skills we earnt along the way. Or the friends we murder along the corners.

Just my luck. Well can't say it was still time well spent because it really wasn't lol.

It's more relief than joy, lol. Joy about the fixes but relief that nothing major got broken during the process..! I will definitely be bookmarking this build as a good one to return to if things get borked in the future.
I've had problems with screen tear from 211 through to 322 - hence having to stick with 140. Otherwise not really any problems to mention.

With 211/212 it was straight off the bat, but with 322 it kicks in really horribly after a few laps. FPS is showing a constant 200+ fps during the problem, and even weirder, I can sometimes stop the tearing by resetting WeatherFX on the config in game - albeit only temporarily.

Big question, I deleted something a while ago, and since then, I can't change the "options" in "update preview." When I try, the game crashes and exits to the desktop.
Does anyone know where that file is saved? Maybe I can fix it. 🙏

I don't know if it will be exactly what you need, but the presets of the previews are (at least on my PC) in C: / Users / Your name (not mine 😁) / AppData / Local / AcTools Content Manager / Presets / Custom Previews

Good luck!

"gti 16v" badge added to the front plus transparency issues sorted in the skins i did thankls @fleskebacon

I re-did this because it was utterly atrocious, and an absolute embarresment to my name

what i have done:

chromed the "m" badge like it was in real life

re jigged the window banner on the front and the one inside

gave this car an AO (removed smudging/shadows from the AO

touched up a few bits on the skin

got the carbon to show through and removed my carbon texture

added all window trim which was previously missing

only 4k available 6k is to big and not really needed 4k is enough

i have had to remove 1 small bit of code for the exterior carbon in the main ext folder otherwise the carbon will not show (to me in my game it looks all good)

i have the 2.0 version of this car i do not know if that makes any difference you may have the newer 3.1 version

the bright interior door frame does not show in game btw

THIS CAR HAS BEEN A REAL PAIN

I learnt a lesson maybe you will to: NEVER CHECK THE CAR IN CM SHOWROOM OR THE NORMAL SHOWROOM.........ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS CHECK IT LOADED ONTO A TRACK.

i always thought the showroom was fine but it is not. I lost at least 4 hours figuring this out

Thanks Perico, but I had already checked that folder without success.

Does this one fix the grassfx issues in tracks like Targa that was mentioned some posts earlier, or is that still a problem?

That doesn't really answer why though, as things like the base game GT40 and 330 and etc all have working auto throttle cut but I've never seen anyone complain about it on those cars. As far as I can tell having it hurts nothing but it makes the more accessible, but for the people who want the immersion they will be turning those things off anyways, so no impact to them. I could just be missing some reason though, which is why I was asking.

I don't disagree with you about learning to drive them and so on, but as someone who has hosted league races for 20 years I've learned that it's pretty easy to tell others to embrace a challenge or how they should enjoy their game, but it doesn't mean it will make them start enjoying it.

On a personal level I'm kinda indifferent to it, but if it means I can't get my friends to drive them with me and I can't convince the league to agree to race them for a season, then it kinda indirectly ruins a lot of the enjoyment for me too.

Using latest CSP and Pure, colours looks flat in preview using CSP for final preview render. Is anyone experiencing that? Any advice? I am using Nvidia RTX 3050
I'm quoting you again because I've been tinkering with the preview settings, which, as I mentioned, also looked washed out when using CSP. Well, in my case, I tweaked the "Tone mapping" controls of the "HDR" section, which I hadn't activated in CSP...

... and I've managed to (somewhat) improve the final image results. They're not quite as good as I'd like, and there are still a few issues with some mods (overly shiny glass, overlapping stickers, etc.), but at least the liveries predominantly white no longer blind my eyes when using CSP previews...

Some people here share showrooms and presets previews of incredible quality, which is much appreciated, but in my case, I don't feel like having to redo aaaaall the previews of my (somewhat) extensive car collection... 😅
