Grenade launcher was really hard for me to learn as well. And I've yet to learn how to properly use the RPGs. Grenade launcher, now it is fun for me. As you are leveling up, it is an great alternative to the three frag grenades.
I agree completely with Dragonistic. Trying new primary guns I think would improve one's game and it is critical that he/she accommodate their game a bit around the new weapon.
My opinion on some of the guns I regularly use(& recommend):
M16:
Pros - As you guys already know, each burst fires just three rounds. Just about every time, enemy will go down after one burst, unless you hit them too low, or the guy has juggernaut perk. With M16, you save a lot of ammunition(because of the three round burst), and you have to reload a lot less. This also means that unless you are really good, you will not need bandolier perk with this weapon. Has very long range, and it is very smooth & accurate.
Cons - While M16 with red dot is hard to beat from distance, it is extremely hard gun to use in close quarter combat. Most of the time, you miss your man with that first burst, and you are dead.
Summary - Great for open maps like Ambush, even Strike, but not so much on Vacant. Just one, or two short burst needed per kill. Will need to keep your target at distance.
M4:
Pros - Long range, full automatic. Very popular 'full-auto' alternative to M16. And I don't know about you guys, but I think it's the best looking gun in the game.
Cons - No stopping power. If you aim is as noobie as mine, you will damn near empty the whole magazine/clip every time you kill a couple, sometimes just one enemy. If you are half way decent player, you will need to have bandolier, or pick up other weapons during matches. Ammunition go bye-bye real quick with this gun, at least for me!
Summary - Very reliable, very popular carbine. Probably the easiest rifle to learn in the game. All-around rifle, good balance to kill close, or far. Still, not the best gun for close quarter battles, as it lacks the stopping power.
MP5:
Pros - Unbelievable stopping power, very fast fire rate. Because of its size, it ables you to run faster as well. And if you don't have red dot, MP5 has one of the easiest open sights(great for silencers).
Cons - While it has nice range, it is still a submachine gun. You can easily kill enemies from distance with this gun, but only if you cut the burst very short. It is no match against real rifles in longer distance fire fight, but that is the only con of this gun I am aware of.
Summary - If I wanna kill close, this is
it for me. Only gun I've tried that features this much power, accuracy, fire rate. Also, only gun that I trust when I run into shotguns in Vacant(backpedal while firing).
Coincidentally, my favorite primary weapon changed in this order. I started with M16, then M4. My current primary-primary is MP5. I've also had luck with guns like P90, AK47, AK74u, etc., but not really enough to stick with them for extended period of time. Anyways, I'd highly recommend these three guns.
