My router is completely open, the firewall has been disabled and the PS3 has been set to DMZ. I've had problems with WaW and MW games on the PSN but never on the 360! I just find the PSN is a lot more difficult to use in general than Live too. It's not just me either, a Google search reveals the extent of the 'Downloading Game Settings' problem. Then there's the disconnections after games which is higher on PSN, and the apparent lack of being able to start a party and keep it together to play matches together, which Live does perfectly.
Anyway I got a few good games in in the end, came across a lot of people jumping about like idiots but they were soon put down by the AK47. My k/d ratio stands at 1.31 at the minute, it will be interesting to see if it goes up or down from there as my 360 ratio is 1.41.
I've also discovered that when I try to start a Private Match, it freezes before I can even enter the Private Lobby and I have to reset the console completely.
Right, this is getting ridiculous, I've been on the phone to my ISP and they said there is nothing wrong with my router or my connection, and I've got it set up correctly for PS3 use. Now I'm off to phone Sony to see what they say.

EDIT: I tried changing my internet connection settings on the console, and now it freezes whenever I try to access the Connection Settings menu, so I can't even get online anymore!![]()
COD4 uses a Peer-to-Peer connection. If your ISP blocks or throttles P2P you might experience "issues".
Hmm, well i have never had one single issue with mine on 360 so seems like a sony issue there.
In one respect it is a Sony issue - it's to do with the ports the PS3 uses - but ultimately it's a technical issue with the ISP. Note how it's only an issue in the UK..?
Surely though, if it's a problem with the ports then it would have been solved by putting the PS3 on DMZ?
Holy Moly! 👍Just had a couple of awesome Ground War games.
44-2 Domination, matched my highest killstreak of 25.
17-0 Team Deathmatch, good for upping the sniper kills, close to an ACOG now.
You've been playing on a standard definition? I've yet to play it on standard def., and I'm sure I'll be going "where in the hell did he come from!?" through the matches, if I did.Wow, in Full HD I am seeing enemies from further a field. Pipeline actually felt reasonable as a map. I do need to work out how this C4 stuff works.
That is pretty obvious, bud. I haven't played that way in....... hours. At least.I know that seems obvious but most people sit there and wave their screen around, when you move the screen you cant detect movements, so staying still is your best option.

A mate of mine has just got himself a nice HD telly (i've still got a SD TV). We'd just recently been talking about how sometimes when you get killed and watch the KillCam replay you think to yourself, how the hell did they see me? it must have been a lucky guess. Now he's playing it on HD he says he can now see how these long distance kills are much more possible. Not only that but it's much easier to make people out against similar coloured backgrounds in the mid distance too.
Need to get myself one too i think.
I wouldn't bother with the C4. Very few people use it from what i can make out. It's just a bit time consuming to set up. 9 out of 10 times of trying to use it in a TDM match will see you getting killed long before you can do anything with it. It's one of those perks that you'll come across that are pretty useless.
I play in HD too, but I'll be honest, I always play better when im playing on a sdtv. My aim sucks on my hd tv for some reason. almost a bit of input lag with certain hd tv's.
I've always played mine through a 32" HD TV, I'm not sure how I'd fare on an SD display.
My new tactic of 'run as fast as possible and never stop' seems to be working well, I managed to get the entire opposition team into a panic on Creek by using a silenced fast setup (UAV Jammer, silenced MP5, Extreme Conditioning) and just legging it across the hills in zig zags. I finished about 12-6 and that was only because the opposition got a heli.
It's brilliant coming face to face with a sniper, firing the MP5 from the hip while running toward them and then not stopping as you go past, just running through them to get to the next target![]()
This tactic is one I use as well, works particularly well when there's more then 1 of you doing it on a map like Pipeline, using the tunnels to flank around and sweep the buildings. You can really cause havoc behind enemy lines, it works one most of the maps which allow you to flank around, maps like Bog it's useless as you usually get caught in the open, although it can still work.
