Played the original MW recently. It is still a classic and hasn't aged at all. But I will say this: the Free-for-all matches I played were far more enjoyable and FAR more balanced than the OTT s**t found in MW2. Had I known what MW2 was like I would never have bought it.

Though I haven't played Free for all in the multiplayer of MW2 yet, but the clear thing is the fact that MW1 is more enjoyable to play than MW2, as there are more factors and systems about weapons and challenges in MW2's.

Finally got to level 55 Gold Star last night. Bit of an anti-climax really.

Congratulations on finishing your challenge of getting to level 55 on the last prestige round! It looks pretty cool and bright. 👍

I just got a copy of COD4 and my god, multiplayer is a million times better than MW2 :dopey: Sure, Frag x3 is unbelievably douchebaggy and Last Stand/Juggernaut are annoying, but Frag x3 and Juggernaut are nothing compared to the stuff in MW2.

It's a bit laggy at times (due to the age of the game and the QOS procedure in the matchmaker) meaning it takes half an AK magazine to down someone, but when you get a lag-free lobby it's so enjoyable. Well, except for Domination on Shipment... not a pretty sight.

Have you experienced the grenade-fest that is Wet Work yet? Even with a decent connection, the lag on that map, between the dying every five seconds, can be horrific.

I've had one game on Wet Work so far, and now that you mention it there *was* quite a bit of grenade tossing. I don't think anybody in that game was using Frag x3 though, so it wasn't as bad as it could've been :p

Bawwww, this thread has just made be realise that I've abandoned my 10th prestige account and not gone on COD4 since. I'm gonna have to play.

I've been playing CoD4 some lately, and last night I got on MW2 for the first time in a while. I just prefer CoD4 a million times more for it's simplicity and balance.

To those who say MW1>MW2, I agree. Although MW1 doesn't seem varied and has somewhat of a simple FPS feel, I still enjoy it from time to time.

I've noticed a lag at times as well, even to the point where my matches were only 30 seconds.

I still hate Wet Work. You know why.

Between not getting Black Ops, and awaiting GT5, I missed CoD4 so much, I decided to play a few..... and still playing! :D

I couldn't get in the CoD4 vs. MW2 arguments, but like Weiner said, I think the simplicity on CoD4, the basic game play is awesome. And some of the maps are absolute classic.

I've been pleasantly(and hugely) surprised by the ease of finding games! Got some low bar connection, but nothing out of the norm, and I've been let in TDMs(w/ 3~4 bars) within just couple of seconds. The best parts were the couple of things that made me laugh out loud: 1) Guys talking about these mysterious "golden guns", but only specific guns. 2) Clan invite after a big game.

Talk about a throwback.

Well a6 wanted someone to revive the thread, so he would not have to double post. Guess the person to do it is me.

With that said, I have been playing CoD4 online for the past few weeks after a6 said something in the MW2 thread about playing CoD4. I played some CoD4 with him last week, but had a horrible time other than my first game. My internet provider was having some issues, issues that continued until Sunday. It was quite annoying trying to play with a connection on the fritz, when I normally have a great connection. The first game I played with a6, and pretty much my first game ever on CoD4, was something like a 15-2; luckily, I was helped out by the map being Overgrown, which I knew from playing on MW2.

My man, Brett! :D:tup:

I didn't realize that it was the Overgrown map. I was quite impressed with your first game you know.

Connection on CoD4 has been sort of up & down. When I play CoD4, I like to play for at least couple of hours, so I try to get to host by getting in, backing out of the lobby, then getting back in. Unfortunately, last couple of nights playing the game, I finally get to host when I decide that I'm done for the night!

As far as the games go, I'm still having a great time. I'm hugely biased, because I just loved the Call of Duty 4 maps. And after what I consider little over-the-top kill streak rewards in Modern Warfare 2, I'm really appreciating the simplicity of the CoD4. I'm no Sandy Ravage, so in MW2, I really focused in surviving long enough to put a kill streaks together. In CoD4, I just go out, play really aggressively. If I reach the kill streak rewards, it's nice, but I don't have to have them.

New twist on the game has been the weapons. I no longer use the M16, which was one of my go-to guns. My aim was so bad, when I came back to CoD4, I needed a full-auto. Currently, I only use G36C with a silencer. I never liked the gun when I used to play before.

If anybody wants to play team deathmatches, add me on my "RodStrickland" account. No, it's not my real name. I wish :p

P.S. Even with the double experience points, I still have yet to reach level 55. I was entertaining an idea of becoming a gold cross, but I sort of doubt it now.

Yeah, it was Overgrown and made my first real foray into CoD4 easier. It is nice knowing a few of the maps without having played the game. Of no surprise, I still dislike Vacant.

My connection issues seemed to have passed. My internet provider was just having issues when I played with you last week, at least after the first few games. The issues then lasted until Sunday and have seemed to mostly disappear. So my usual great connection is back and I am getting a bunch of four bar connections, with great three bar connections.

I am enjoying CoD4 quite a bit. The simplicity of the game compared to either MW2 or Black Ops is refreshing.

Weapons wise, I am mostly using the M4. I have found the M4 to be quite effective for any map. Occasionally, I will throw the MP5 into the mix when a small map comes up. Having heard of how great the M16A4 is in CoD4 before using it in multiplayer, I have to say the praise is slightly overblown. The M16A4 is a very good weapon, but it is quite limited in close quarters. Now on a larger map like Overgrown or Strike, the M16A4 can shine, so long as my aim is steady and I can manage to land all three bullets on target. I have also used the M40A3 some and find sniping to be somewhat fun. I am looking forward to being able to use the G36C without having to pick one up; I have picked up the weapon a few times and have felt the weapon would work wonders for me.

CoD4 still is the only sniping I somewhat enjoy. With the exception of the M21, all sniper rifles had quite following. I know me & Dragonistic were fond of R700 and M40. Barrett .50 cal & Dragunov were also huge. While I didn't like Dragunov, I did enjoy Barrett as a 'pick-up' sniper rifle quite a bit. That thing was a cannon. M21 was another very cool rifle. You don't always get one shot one kill, but its' minimal recoil allowed you to rapid fire at the target(maybe it was only me :p).

M4 & MP5 are super versatile rifle & a sub. Once you get the aim & the timing down, M16 was arguably the deadliest rifle in CoD4. One burst was all you needed drop someone, but that one burst is so quick that it was as good as one shot one kill. If you start struggling, try switching out your M4/MP5 to AK47/AK74u. They have slower fire rate, less accuracy, but have mean stopping power. For me, they are all I need to change the pace, reset my "game". For longer shots, just short burst to compensate for the excessive recoil.

I'm glad that you are enjoying the game. I'm quite surprised by how easy of time I'm having entering matches. I have had couple of off nights, where all I can find is two bar(yellow) connection games, or hacked lobbies. But most of night's been very enjoyable. We have to hook up again sometime soon.

P.S. How do you like the Pipeline? One of my favorite maps in any games. The map is just epic huge! Major busted up warehouse thingies, underground corridors, rail yard, the hill, and they all ties in together so nicely!

I do not really like the AK-47 all that much. The recoil is mostly just visual, but the vertical bouncing of the weapon messes with my head. I think it has to do with the target being obscured and trying to keep the sights on target while the weapon is bouncing, when I should just continue to fire and not worry so much about adjusting the aim vertically.

I played a few games tonight and finished around even in all of them. My aim was just a bit off and was causing me to die more often than I should. My aiming issues were compounded by being on teams that were getting steamrolled.

For the most part, I have had no issues finding and entering matches. Tonight, I had a few two bar games, but mostly three and four bar games. Other than connection issues this past weekend because of internet provider issues, my connection to games has been solid. Though, I have had a couple nights of only hacked lobbies or so it seemed. Typically, I jump over to Mercenary Team Deathmatch if I get a hacked lobby; if I get a hacked lobby there, then I turn off the game and find something else to do.

Pipeline somewhat reminds me of Derail on MW2, in that it seems most of the action is concentrated in the central warehouses on Pipeline, much like much of the action on Derail was focused on the central building. I just discovered the underground corridors either yesterday or two days ago; knowing about them would have helped me tremendously to sneak up on a sniper camping in the building near the hill. I like the map so far, as there is a nice variety of engagements.

That's what I like about Pipeline. Series of exciting firefights. It's also very flexible. You could run, camp, snipe, push, hold, ninja, whatever. Those corridors are huge. Check out the map online when you get a chance. There is entrance by little building by the hill, railroad platform, another small building at the end of the platform, and inside the warehouse(forget the number, but the larger one).

I have no issue with AK47, but it also could be because I often start by shooting my target from around the waist. I rarely have to compensate for the recoil, maybe because the recoil compensates my crappy aim.

When I got to host the other night, a hacker got in my lobby. Until then, I thought the hackers had to be the host. I was hosting, feeling pretty good, as soon as I started to dash as the match started, I went warp speed, I promptly ended the match. For the life of me, I can't remember if that closed the lobby for good, or what(I think it did).

Another weird instance hosting was that in one of those matches, it ended as it just started. Have you had matches that just as it's about to start, it says "draw...." and it ends? I'm usually frustrated by them. But this time, it happened to a match I was hosting, and I didn't do anything. It's never happened before that, or after that. And it just let me carry on being the host, we carried on playing the next match. :dopey:

I know me & Dragonistic were fond of R700 and M40. Barrett .50 cal & Dragunov were also huge.

I miss my R700, still my favourite sniper rifle of the series with the Mosin Nagant of WaW coming in a close second. It was never so much the behaviour of the guns though both were great weapons, but I just loved the 'feel' and look of them. Always prefered bolt action to semi-auto as it feels more rewarding and encourages better sniping by not allowing you to fire to fast.

I got used to the Intervention on MW2, similarly adjusting to the L96 in Black Ops, but they just don't look as good to me though they both feel nice to use.

Funny you should mention the bolt action. Normally, I don't even like semi-auto rifles. M1's, M14's.... :yuck: But like you, in CoD4 at least, two favorite snipers are both bolt actions, which's even less efficient(full>semi>bolt). I liked R700 so much, I considered purchasing it in real life. Then, I was like what the hell am I gonna do with a long range rifle, I don't even hunt. I'm currently shopping for shotgun now.

It was IMPOSSIBLE to snipe in WaW for me. I know that you are skilled shooter, probably in any Call of Duty games. But I bet most players were like me, lacked consistency to say the least, with the WaW snipers.

Well, I hope you are having fun with the Black Ops. As you probably already know, I passed on the game, but looks like my buddy Time Attack's having great time kicking butt on it. :D

P.S. Brett, if you are still playing CoD4, look for me over the weekend. I'm gonna be playing some! :)

Home defense! You can practice real life 1337 no scopes!

Benelli M4 Super 90, though it is a bit expensive.

I will probably be on and off throughout the day today playing CoD4. I doubt I will be home tomorrow other than in the morning. Between Christmas with the family over at my grandparents' house and going to tomorrow night's Thunder game, I doubt I will be spending much time at home. Sunday, depending on whether I decide to buy a new laptop and how much I want to play GT5, I may or may not be playing CoD4.

Classic.👍

Yeah, little out of my range. :p My buddy has a Benelli Tactical(Nova, I think), it is a nice shotty(offered him $300).

This is what I wanted:

I came real close to ordering one, but it has received some serious negative feedbacks from everybody. Really unfortunate, as it's the best looking shotgun I've ever seen, it comes with everything I want, then some, and it's in my price range!

This is what I bought(well, paid, and on order):

Remington 870 Tactical

It comes with everything I wanted. While it cost more, and doesn't look as cool as the 887(at least IMO), this 870 is considered by many to be the standard, maybe legendary. While you don't really need a rear sight or rail on a shotty, mine was going to have to have one, so I can add red dot sight to it(where did I get that crazy idea!?).

No problems. If I see you, I'll see you. If you got other stuff, or other games going on, no sweat, I'll catch you Sunday, or next week. Merry Christmas! :)

I ran with RabiaEx for a bit, and we owned. :D As you expect, competition on CoD4 is very scarce. You put 2, 3 good players on one team, and it's pretty much Game Over.

I'm back on my original account, a6m5zero. Since I learned to play FPS with this account, on CoD4, my k/d is low. But the flip side of this means that I can rank up faster by upgrading odd weapons I otherwise would never use. I'm on third prestige, I think level 36-ish.
Check this **** out A6. Verizon/Frontier can suck it. 👍

Going for the cross A6? Are you not a few years too late?
Didn't the biggest thing ever to come out of Australia have a hit song called "Never Too Late"? Watch & learn, son. Watch & learn. :sly: Muhahahaha!

P.S. I got to see my shotgun today. Due to my background check delay(not a citizen), I can't pick it up until tomorrow. :(

We need to play again soon bro. Its been well over a month since we teamed up. RENT BLACK OPS!

No, I'm going for the Gold Cross! Level 10 Prestige!

I'll join you when Call of Duty 8 is out. I should be done by then.

I don't blame you, big buddy. To be completely honest, I can't believe there are people still playing it.
